1. that's normal, ain't it?
i mean you lost 60% after all, so no wonder your vit and critters ve were all gone^^
i'm not sure, but it's that way for me all the time when fighting with 90% pray power xD
i win nearly all my outgoing battles, and always lose my vit and my critters vit because i lose about 50% before my enemies die at last...

and i get the penalty line with all ingoing battle logs, no matter whether i actually win or lose

2. Good Morning MD^^
I have nice things too say, too, but yesterday i was a bit pissed off because of several reasons, including the fact that i had learned mostly all day while my brother kept annoying me and that it was well past midnight when i posted...
I apologize for being a bit rude, but when it comes down to religion, i'm not used to being ignored :D

I am christian myself, rom.cath. as we call it, although i disagree with some of the teachings of the pope-.-

And i've chosen my words as i did just to show that some people might not see the difference between agnostics and atheist at once, but it's there, and it matters.

3. First of all: Where can i find Catholizism? Where the heck are ALL the christian religions?!

And second: there's a HUGE difference between agnostizism and atheism, one means believing in nothing and the other means believing that there is nothing, and i can tell you that really believing there is NOTHING is a tough job, only about 0,01% of mankind do that, while about 10% claim they are agnostics...

4. It was always intended to be mandatory, at least in the way that nobody who goes there can attack anybody in there without asking for permission first.
Of course there's nobody forcing you to go there at all, we live in a free society :D
But once you are in one of the locations, you silently agree to the rules and will be punished if you break them repeatedly, first time with a pm about the ways of the dojo, second time with an angry pm about the ways, third time with a little act of revenge and if you either don't understand it or don't care, you'll get yourself on the list and will REALLY be punished^^

5. As you can imagine, the ideal society we all wanted to make of that place wouldn't need any rules at all, that's why the original intention of the dojo was a society project that IS GOING TO work just because everybody here is perfect and that's why everybody acts perfect.
before you start laughing about this (i know you will, we all know the really human nature), please accept that the dojo was set in a community totally different from the one we live in now (by living in i mean the game world, not any real state).
Before the dojo was there, there was NO, absolutly NO rule that wasn't enforced by mur, may it be directly or indirectly through his trusted rpc's and lho's, so we all assumed that there WERE no people who were potential transgressors of any rules. Our Garden of Eden fiction lasted long enough to make us try to set up the dojo and tell people about it and assume that they would honor the dojo by any means.

When the festival started (still a good bit before Vaul got here, i guess), the shallow roleplaying started and loads of new players started playing the game. At once, our perfect little world had some, maybe even many intruders who didn't give a crap about our rule to honor the dojo.
So we had to set up dojo guards who hunted the aggressors and beat them up to show them that they shouldn't attack in dojo. Vaul, as you ARE a lawyer, i guess you know everything about the history of law, for all the others here let's call this step the primitve law, in which the society helps itself with simple acts of revenge. There are certain rules, in our case "Thou shalt honor the dojo", and everybody who doesn't stick to them will be tortured by the means the community has to offer.

Step by step, we see that this is leading nowhere (as it never did in history) and a kind of archaic law starts exiting, and that's where Vaul's arguments start:
Troughout history, the "primitive law" was never efficient. We all live in eloquent societies where the state has the power to enforce laws and punish offenders. Sooner or later, this is what's going to happen to the dojo rule, just for the simple reason that mankind is too dumb to think of "the greater good". In the anonymity of the internet, breaking rules is even more easy to most people! Either there is a way to find some eloquent rule that will be laid down in the rules, or we stay with our primitive/ archaic laws, where either people use revenge to get "justice" or some amongst the people (usually the oldest or wisest) try to find solutions by talking it out when revenge is leading nowhere.
I think you will agree that we've tried it for long with our society rules, and if we want to stop offences efficiently, we will have to find another way.

So, to answer Vaul's question: the law system of the dojo is still in a process of growing up to the standards we know today and seems to be stuck somewhere in the 6th-7th century AD atm, so just be patient and don't get upset by those who are still trying to make the world an ideal place...

I would like to keep the illusions of our perfect little MD World, but in the long run, it's not going to work that way-.-

PS: i myself think that it's absolutley enough to have our primitve laws with occasional offences and punishments, but i assume that most of you (specially the dojo crew) want to put a stop on the offences, even if that means that we loose the society rule and hand it over to shoeps to make it a game rule and give the dojo crew effective spells to keep repeated offenders out of the dojo^^

6. it's not about avoiding mistakes, it's all about not making the same mistakes again.
I understand that mp3's a re obviously starving for a quick solution so nobody attacks them in the dojo, but making mistakes is what makes us humans after all, ain't it? errare humanum est^^

there were suggestions about a banner, and messages, and even implementing the dojo in the tutorial, but all that doesn't work becuase there are other things on mur's mind, so we have to deal with the problems on our own.

Maybe you've played a game before where the developing crew was always there to do whatever players wanted, but here, you have to believe in creationism: mur made the world and the primary rules, the rest is up to us^^

And i think it makes the game much more interesting that way

7. As i'm studying laws (or whatever else you call it in America, it's the thing you study before getting a lawyer or judge^^), i'd like to get some things clear here.
Vaul, you're saying that there's no rule to break. That's true according to the game rules, which allow to attack anybody anywhere (except for sanctuary). But the thing we're talking about here is a social rule, something not set in positive laws (written law), but more a thing that's working through social pressure. I don't know where you come from, but things like eating habits or drinking habits are among those rules.
Where i live, alcohol is a common drug that's not illegal, yet the society will punish you if you abuse it (e.g by taking away your home, job, friends...). That's NOT the law punishing you, but the SOCIETY you live in.
It's the same with the idea of the dojo. Calyx intended the dojo to be a place that everybody honors, as the idea is really good, but we as a community had to see that it didn't work.
So we started putting some social pressure on the people who don't honor the dojo. This list is nothing Mur is interested in or that's punished by him in any way, because he punishes only those who don't honor HIS rules.
So, you can be sure that there's nobody who punishes the people on that list by capturing and torturing them or reducing their stats or whatever, because this are the ways mur punishes offenders (well, he won't torture you, but it sounds nice^^)
yet there are other ways of the community to punish offenders WITHIN the rules of the game, i assume you have no idea about the cruelties of dst ;)

That list is NOT a list of outlaws that will be banned or whose critters will be taken away, but the people on that list ARE not accepted by our society, and therefore will be punished in ways that are open to us "normal players".

ps: i've read all your posts so far, and even if you seem to know some latin, you are obviously assuming that ALL rules have to be written in a law book^^

8. i disagree with vaul about who needs the dojo most...
i don't think that mp3 really need the dojo most, i think it's rather newbies on mp4 and mp5 who need to learn how to defend themselves against advanced players, in mp3 there's no real need for eloquent defence rituals and extraordinary combat strategies, it's more about pure strenght at mp3. no def can help you against grasan 2 and dark archer 2 on mp3, and most players have those critters when they finish mp3^^
the dojo CAN help mp3s of course, but more with heals and a place to set rituals, not really with the teaching part...
and of course it's annoying when you try to help someone healing his creatures and some evil or ignorant guy comes in and kills your healing rit, but that can happen anywhere, and in the dojo at least a vast majority of players won't attack you, i remember being an mp3 and trying to heal with someone somewhere of the normal ways, it costs tons of ap, and the risk of being followed and bashed while healing was immense-.-

you're better off with the dojo and some occasional attacks than with healing anywhere else:D

and for all other players (mp4 and higher), i suggest to set some def rits and search for help in the dojo, you're chances of being attacked are still slimmer at the dojo than anywhere else, and some of the more secret matters of the game are normally not dicussed in the sanctuary with thousands of people listening^^

9. That comabt logs bug is old and well known to all of us, refresh your browser and it should be gone, if that doesn't work, logg off and back in again, then it should be gone, and if it's not (happens when you had really many fights) just fight one or two battles, then log realizes that there's just one recent fight and not like 200 :D

And your creatures won't show up when they have 0 ve left as creatures with 0 ve are dead, you have to reanimate them before you can use them again^^

10. One wouldn't realize you are no native talker when reading your posts^^
My mother tongue is German, i started learning English 8 years ago, and i have some problems with the phrases of the language, too, because those i know are different from those that are used in english...-.-

the short messages in chat help me a lot, reading those short and simple sentences is far easier than reading novels or stories, but sometimes i get frustrated when trying to solve the riddles round here, i just don't get what they are saying xD

i think i can say whatever i need to say, but sometimes it takes me a bit longer too find the right words and most of the time it sounds somehow stupid, but i don't mind at all, even the best make mistakes sometimes, pobodys nerfect or something like that :P

11. I have to give in that i'm quite lazy when it comes to roleplaying, but i think that a real role should be really deep...
i don't think that talking about rl sometimes is bad, there should be a mix of serious roleplaying and normal "getting-to-know-people" in chat as glai suggests. I don't think that it's really interesting in the long run to talk about the AL all the time, nor do i think that some shallow roleplaying like "hi, i'm the strong warrior, leave me alone or you'll die" is enough for this game.
I rather think that an elaborated role is like a real personality and can have bad days, can be really pissed off for any reasons, no matter whether in- or out-game, and can sometimes feel lonely, dizzy, ocified or any other emotional state you know^^

Only that mix can make a good role, and in that mix, some shallow chatting and maybe some rl issues can have a place :P

12. now that's some REAL hardcore roleplaying^^
don't get me wrong, i like all of your ideas so far, but you're having a little egotrip here, aren't you? an ava with a rat is no problem, and new monsters are a pleasure too, but you suggest changes all over the game so your role works better :P

I really like the story-telling you are suggesting, i always wondered where the heads are coming from and why they grow more by time, and descriptions to the sun items would be nice too, that leaves space for huge stories, but a new cave system that only you and your chosen members can enter?!

summary of all that useless babbling: i like it, but i think it's a bit "too much"^^

13. yeah, that's called free credits here^^
just log on the game and clikc on [free credits] in the top right corner (it's written in red, you can't miss it :))
click yourselves through the votings and hope that your vote gives magic duel the first place, else you'll be banned *hrhr*
you get 0.01 dollar per vote and you can vote daily, that makes one free item every five days^^

14. the adept system makes it easier to get a hold of the game mechanics, as teachers get a small bonus for their adepts and adepts get to know the knowledge of his/her teacher^^
just run around a bit ingame and try to find someone who looks thrustworthy and can help efficiently in chat, most ppl like having adepts, and some of the players here know quite a lot about the things happening in and around the game
once you found someone, teachers will tell you secrets about the game and helpful tips as pm to make sure only you get them and not other players who read the chat logs in exchange for you becoming an adept of them

15. that happens sometimes, i'd suggest to take it easy, you can't do anything against it atm BUT liberty says that a good way to get rid of attackers in the dojo will be implemented soon, just read the forum on repeated aggressors right here in the dojo section^^
i know that "taking it easy" is quite hard for you right now, but there really is nothing you can do except for telling the dojo staff about it-.-

16. ok, now that's a way of punishment i can figure out, i don't want to go into the details of it (spoiler) but i know what ppl like dst can do to users, even without using spells
i hope that message goes out to all those mp4s that continously violate the dojos rules...
and i'm really looking forward to those punishments liberty is talking about, it makes life at dojo much more fun when the complaints "xxx attacked me again, do something" stop :P

17. what exactly is the point of that list anyway?
"the dojo guards will hunt you"...meaning what? that you have to set more def rits? :P
it's not like there are people with extraordinary powers hopping around the world, checking the list and bewitching ppl who are on it with spells that make them unable to attack or stealing all their ve whenever they see them...
If you mess with certain people from the dojo, you can either talk it out or take their wrath, that's your choice, but no matter whether you are on that list or not, you can find people who will exchange wins or grant you easy xp in dojo and outside dojo.
and as long as you don't loose anything for being on that list, like the ability to chat within the dojo or the ability to see the playerlist in the dojo, there's no point in "getting off the list", is there?
lateron, there might be more severe punishments (the two i just wrote might be nice^^) and ways to get off the list again once you are on it, but for the time being, it's just a collection of users who obviously don't use the dojo and who might get attacked inside and who will most likely get loads of pm they will delete before reading them

don't get me wrong, i think that punishing violators in some way is important to keep the dojo running, but i don't see the ways for it atm...

18. it's some sort of "refreshing" counter. You might have noticed that you don't loose ap and ve instantly when you lose then, they only get updated when you refresh magicduel (F5) or when that little golden bar that runs around that circle reaches it's top position and it glows for a moment.
If you don't believe this, try it out, walk around a bit and look at your ap, they get updated when the circle glows^^

ps: that thing doesn't always take a minute to make a full turn, it has funny intervalls sometimes :)

19. I'd say that this feature would make "hit and run" far too easy, and way too many players would exploit it when implemtented with all the features you are asking for (players in same mp, players who can be attacked, players with low vit and so on)

I have to say that i'd like to see who worshipps whom, as some players are asking other players not to attack if they have the same "master", but all the other features come in handy only for the players who want to bash other players, and therefore i would not appreciate if they were implemented

i have to give in that i was using the "hit and run" stragety for some time too, but it's far more fun if there's a chance for the other players to bash back before someone vanishes again, and if the feature was there, weak players would be in an area for about 30 secs before leaving again, and that would take all the fun out of the game^^

20. first of all @ blood moon: glaistig is not telling the truth, at least not the whole truth^^

with his 300 attack (and his other stats, which i know from watching his profile) he/she's really not one of the storngest mp5 players, but a long way from as weak as he tells you here xD

i myself have quite miserable stats for an mp5 ( 120 att, 200 def, all the other things 40 or less) but still manage to play good because i sozialize with people! All you have to do is finding someone who needs anything (easy wins on critters or losses are best to give away at my postion, as i'm very very very off-balance atm (400 win to 600 losses)) and then get something back from time to time, example: ghost hunter was asking for victorious battles a few weeks ago, and seeing a chance, i started to attack him with a rit that could never possible win and that gave him a vic almost everytime. Lateron, he tried to get losses, which i happily gave him. Now he remembers my name, and whenever we meet, he kindly uses his amazing vit to give me easy xp, which are very hard to acquire for me in regular battles atm, making me stronger than i could ever have grown without help!

All that stupid babbling is just to say that everyone can win when one finds helpers, and i know very few people who can grow really strong on his / her own.

to come back to the idea: i dislike the idea of bounty-hunting people who violate the dojo, it really is enough punishment if those people don't get help in the dojo, which they will need in the long run. Even if they have a friend who helps them, there will come a time when one freind alone is not enough for that player, and everybody who thinks he can manage on his /her own, here's a warning: i tried to do that, and it didn't get me anywhere except on the hate list of the folks i killed!!!

And meanwhile, you really need to set up defence rits ( yeah i know it's hard if you have no high elemental and no high tree, but it can be done) to save your critters from being killed while training, you have 16 slots and can only use 6 critters in a training rit, so it shouldn't be a real problem, seeing that not many people attack in the dojo like madmen^^

p.s.: there's n o need for a def rit to stand chances to win!! just set a fresh grasan and let him die in a 0%-vit rit, there's no need to set a def rit that wins the incoming battles, because that WON'T WORK, there's always people who can bash you with no troubles at all^^

21. one raises in mind power when one has enough wins and /or xp to level up, if you choose only one principle, fine, that's your own way to play the game, but your mind power is high enough to handle 4 principles from now on, and later even 5 when you raise to mp5

it doesn't matter how many principles you actually choose, mind power is just the limit on principles, not a counter on how many principles you play with
