People need to get involved in MD otherwise bad things can happen.

The change announced a couple hours ago, shows that we do have some people who care about combat and how to raise your stats. But it also shows that a number of big MD players have differing views on how to balance things.

Tokens were suggested to be changed in this way, It was actually agreed on, and suggested to be implemented.

However, as the MD community pointed out, and it was realised during the discussion, there were a number of issues which meant implementing this would be problematic. The small group that responded to Murs ask for help did not resolve these issues.

Everyone here will be contacted privately to discuss what they can help for MD, since they have shown that they care for MD at some level to get a discussion going. I thank each and every one of you that participated in the thread so far, and who will continue to participate.

Tomorrow, 24 hours after I changed it, it will be changed back to what it originally was.

Hopefully the community will see that, without involvement, MD will not continue to be MD.

I apologise for this "Mur Style" game, but sometimes MD needs a little shaking to get people to do things. Asking for help doesnt always get players to actually help out and discuss issues.

I love you all, I now have faith that MD shall continue because its community does care.

Note: This post was made in a secret forum, and will not be edited. I will move it out tomorrow evening and post below this.

Granos reacted to Azthor in Pandora's box
    1. Per Hesiod's depiction, between the Theogony and Works an Days, it is a tale of divine scorn and man's fall from grace; however, if considered in the light of its presentation as the ending event of the Golden Age, one should, rather, deduce that, as man, created by Prometheus, a titan, during Cronus' reign, following Prometheus' defiance of Zeus' will, and Zeus portrayed omnipotent as he is in Hesiod's works, is punished with Pandora's coming, man is ultimately reviled by Zeus not by their actions, but by that of their creators, the titans. The age that follows, the Silver Age, is one where women rule over men, an exceedingly negative scenario per Hesiod's description, given Pandora's static nature as a divine punishment; more so, though Zeus would recreate man anew a number of times, only in the Heroic Age would man redeem itself, and only so to culminate in the pessimistic depiction of the Iron Age, of man bereft of the gods.

Though Epimetheus is presented as a fool, accepting the dubious gift that is Pandora, as remains his role in Plato's later depiction, it must be noted that, unlike Plato, Hesiod places Prometheus in much more ambiguous a role, as he does the Olympians. That is to say, the gods themselves, and the titans, are both flawed, even as they remain much greater to man, and man, most of all, is flawed, deprived of the Olympian's potency while still damned to evil, as ensues with the Iron Age, per Hesiod. As it stands, however, it is difficult to find any hints of a transcendent morality in the Theogony or Works and Days, and so it may be more appropriate to say that, for Hesiod, the gods are not truly flawed, for they define right merely by being, and, hence, humanity is only moral when it follows the will of the gods willingly, though it cannot evade them.

Plato, on the other hand, being a philosopher of the ideal, would censor the Theogony in its depiction of the gods as dissonant to what man can deem good; for when man perceives good, man has merely glanced at transcendent concepts the likes of Justice; and as all that is transcendent, and thus True, is inherently right, the gods could, in Plato, be depicted in no other way than as purely benevolent. As, in the Republic, Plato holds that noble lies should be upheld for the good of all, as is the case with the ideal polis there proposed, it would not be a stretch to allege that said censorship could have been meant quite literally.

Given Pandora's supposed older role as a goddess of the earth and, more particularly, abundance, it is likely that Hesiod's writings are an adaptation on the depiction where the pithos bore all gifts, rather than all evils, the jar being a way to preserve them and the tragedy lying in their loss as the jar was opened, the element of hope (elpis) being present in the possibility of their retrieval, rather than the ruin of their spread. There, Hesiod's works may have served as support for the strengthening of patriarchal culture in ancient Greece, serving, then, as a theological argument towards the superiority of man.

    2. The choice, in Hesiod's Theogony, lay with Epimetheus, not Pandora; per Hesiod's own conclusion, there was no choice to be made by man, for all such mortals were bound by the will of Zeus. More so, Pandora, most of all, is inherently evil, for, unlike man, in the Works and Days, she is, truly and inherently, vile by nature; a nature forged out of Olympian scorn against man and its creator.

    4. Most remarkably, within Hesiod's presentation, Prometheus, when he tricks Zeus out of demanding the appropriate sacrifices from man; though he later suffers for it, that depiction is well-aligned with Prometheus' original role as a trickster deity.

    5. Though the Genesis 2 Eve parallel may be tempting, double so given antagonistic role women have in Hesiod, ultimately, Genesis 19, whence Lot's wife looks back upon Sodom and Gomorrah and becomes a pillar of salt, seems like a better example. The primary differences in these is that, not only in Genesis 2 is Eve meant as a gift, in Genesis 19 Lot's wife, truly dotted of free will, unlike Eve, would've had the option not to gaze upon the alight twin cities.

I understand there are other Alliances to such an effect, and look at the state of things--stagnation. For things to move forward there has to be a change of ideals. That said I am not condoning RP, but merely stating that there needs to be a reasoning behind it, a purpose that makes sense in regards to what MD is. And for clarification, there are Alliances, and then there are Guilds, guilds are the ones with coded purposes.

Just because something else exists does not mean something else should, MD is about that unique set of perspectives, if there is a reason behind it which there usually is (although may have been lost over time--which is another discussion all together) then it is fine so long as it sits grounded in the foundations of MD. As Dst pointed out, you do not need an alliance to RP.

There is nothing wrong with having fun, but an alliance is making a visible impact on the realm, therefore must have a purpose. An alliance that has lost or blatantly failed its purpose should not exist, case and point the Necrovion Sentinels.

I would like to see this succeed, but it has to be for the right reasons. (publicly or privately)

Ok, originally, I like the purpose of the CoE.... But this, no offense, seems like a load of nonsense. You have a lengthy explanation detailing a lot of things which is great but ultimately pointless. It seems you are saying a lot without saying anything at all. It panders to pointless RP with no real purpose to the realm. Say if you were to legitimize and study the night system and become authorities and push and fight for it to be fully implemented like the original CoE was aiming for then yes, I see a point. But in so far as to what is actually here, it is all just a bunch of RP for the sake of RP and pandering positions for the sake of ego.

    - An Alliance for the sake of just role playing for the sake of role playing with no basis is pointless.
    - You need a real purpose, IE the night system.
    - Have one focus not multiple IE a military for the sake of a military aspect. One focus is what is needed there are other alliances for that.
    - Just because it was like this in the past does not make it good, it died in the past for a reason.

This may seem harsh but ultimately less is more.

Please note that I speak now as the guy who is looking at stats and facts. My views are based on numbers not what I would like or not.

    From numbers perspective, currently:

    1. MD doesn't have the capability of holding any other alliances, due to lack of players
    2. Creation of new alliances, might lead to disbanding other

Out of numbers and from a player perspective:

I would love to see lands more inclusive. They should treat new players as part of them, without any hard requirements. If players find themselves involved in something, if they feel part of something and they feel important, they will stay and MD will have glorious times again. I'm so angry with Kings and land rulers currently. They are more dead than their lands. They should be searching for new players for their lands, they should be hunting for them since they begin the game. We need more spice in the game, something crazy happening. Lands should compete to see which can do x or y thing better, start a war or just do something to make people interested in them.

The past is the past and as long as you keep thinking on the great things that happened before and forget thinking on the great things that can be done, you will miss moving ahead and nothing great will happen. Kings and land rulers have the power of changing the status of the game, even before the major changes we are expecting from development and code perspective.  You have in your hands the ability of making your lands interesting again. The questions is, will you?

A little example to prove my point:

Why having alliances that are "DEFENDERS" or are "KNIGHTS" if there's nothing to defend or attack?

Eventually, and this is what is happening, people gets bored of being in a place that is not interesting and doesn't involve him/her with a purpose to fight for, and this finishes in them leaving the game.

To clarify. Back when DD started talking about reviving CoE I was GotR leader and DD had my support up until the point when he said that he didn't want to be a part of CoE. He wated to revive it but thee still were no members, let alone leader to give the alliance to. Also DD's loyaty to GotR was never doubted because of that. His plan of reviving CoE failed mostly because of 2 things: 1. it was flawed and 2. DD and Tarq "did not hit it off".
There was no partiality then, at least not from my side as a GotR leader.

I can't say about situation now. I have seldom visited the realm for more than few moments in past few months and I don't follow any politics now.

    edit:
    ps.
Shouldn't this topic be more about how/why/why not revive CoE now instead of remembering the problems that made it's revival a failure in the past?
    Just saying.

Just do it, even though personally I disagree with things generally like this that is still no reason for me to tell you not to do it. People no matter what you try to do will try to stop you in one way or another for various reasons, most of them being over petty ego issues though.

The most important thing about all of this though is that you are actively getting people involved in something, doing something be it the training or even working against it, hell even I was tempted to react to it. This action and reaction aspect often times killed on the forums (mainly due to petty egos as mentioned before) is one of the most important things to MD, especially now.

So in short ignore them, go and do and remember you are making things move one way or another, and think to yourself what the hell have the people who are trying to kill the idea been doing to get any motion in MD?

Take pride in this and do it.

Ah the beauty of semantics. If Aeo used "guidelines" or similar instead of "rules" none of this would happen. I must admit that I would have written "rules" too if it was me while not thinking on the enforcement part of it. That word is so common today that we use it so much and in place of other words that have partially shared meaning with it. Also when people get idea and are excited they just rush to show it in which process it is presented in shortest form possible. I mean who the hell would in his place with that many enthusiasm remember to write it as "oh also I will probably propose from interested parties to be mutually respectful of so far consensual training guidelines". Frustration does same thing which makes Nim's reply no better at all. Difference is that most of you backed her up because you could understand what she actually meant with that reply since you shared same opinion, but other party doesn't and hence perceives it wrong just like you perceived Aeo wrong. I don't see him as trying to reanimate dictatorial training ground from the past, but rather he tried to get people together and put some basic guidelines in place for organizational purpose of consensual training.

Strange that such topic haven't been opened so far. Here it goes.

The shortest way always requires more AP.
Teamwork is essential, it gives you somebody to put a blame on.
Player traces lead both ways, you will usually go the wrong way, into the viscosity.
Locate spell doesn't work on person you need to find.
The thing you need can't be obtained, when you don't need it's easily obtainable.
No matter which way you are heading it's always into the viscosity.
When you're feeling social, everybody is idle.
For every atempt to do something there is an equal and opposite forum criticism.
If enough data is collected Dst can prove anything.
The tough part of being a leader is that people don't know what they want but they know what they don't want.
    Stealing information is called research.
The perfect person for any job, usually public one, will show up day after possition was filled by somebody else.
Every chat conversation, PM, anno and forum post which can be misunderstood, will be.
The only people you can win against in combat are always in sanctuary.
There is always a way to accomplish anything, it usually doesn't work.
Success happens when outcome is unimportant, failure always occurs in life and death situations.
    Viscosity is not neutral.
Shared items that are supposed to work together can't be carried that way.
If you need council urgently, take a nap for a week or so. If matter is barely of any significane reply will come in 5 minutes.
When you need help from LHO, your question will be assigned to an idle one.
If you go to grab a shared item, somebody took it before you.
    Accurate regen timer, isn't.
    Friendly poke, isn't.
    Shared items, aren't.
    Lock spells, don't.
Only players that give positive honor can't be attacked.
When you feel like fighting, it's DOT.
If you need to gather some resources and if you somehow got the tool to do it, they are already deplated.
The good tokens won't work because you have picked one wrong principle.
In MD something will always get bugged out of the blue. Usually when you least expect it and can't afford it.
Exotic creature you always wanted is put on sale only after you have spend your coins on stuff you didn't wanted in first place.
If you are winning in auction, somebody will outbid you by 1 silver in last moment or you will be 1 silver short to outbid the other person.
If you mail council with super important and long mail, due to technical reasons mail won't ever reach them and your copy will be lost.
The only time Dst is watching is when you do something bad and never when somebody does something bad to you.
Effort and time needed to do and fix things are always inversly proportional to effort and time Chew can invest.
MD will always critcally break when Mur and Chew aren't there to fix it.
Game notifications always glitch into an endless loop of annoyance.
    Land weapons, aren't.
You are always 1 AP short for moving to next scene.
    Free stuff, aren't.
When it's about free credits you are always 1 cent short from buying the thing you really want in shop.
If you are doing very well in a WP quest, somebody else is doing even better.
If you think you're about to win the quest, you're mistaken.
If other player has only one freeze it will always freeze your drach, your antifreezes will fail no matter what.
If you have max number of freezes you will freeze everything except the creature that matters.
Basically you are always short of something by 1, be it resource or stats.
If you are selling it's always underpriced, if you are buying it's always overpriced.
If you can misclick, you will.
The first place you go to harvest resources is always deplated.
Lifesteal is a contradiction, ele and daimon always die, drach always remains standing. Same goes with aimed hit.
Each time you pray heat to your protector erolin device ends in 499 (or 249 for MP4s).
About to cast a spell? Your heat is at 299.
Each time you use your maxed combo ritual you are just asking for a disaster to happen.
Need one more win to upgrade your creature? There is nobody you can win against and nobody wants to cooperate to help you. There is nobody left to fight. DOT is about to start.
Finally you have everything ready to upgrade your creature? Just before you click upgrade your def will go random, that creature will be placed in random ritual and lose 1 mil heat.
Spells wear off when you least expect them.
If you cast a spell, eight minute spells last seven, if others cast them on you, they last nine.
There is at least one achievement you won't ever be able to get.
When you finally find training or RP partner, the next day that person goes inactive.
Tea always gets cold right before you need it.
Candies always melt right before you're to use them.
All your issues will be resolved right when they no longer carry any importance.
You will always burst right before your regen timer resets.
People that you need regarding something are always in locations unreachable for you.
When sacrificing useless creatures you will most likely misclick and say farwell to your windy or tainty.
Target multiple never hits creatures that you want it to hit and always hit creats you prayed won't be hit, at least not that often or at least not in round 0.
When you get some kind of reward, it's always what you don't need or not enough of what you do.
You will always mess it up in last part of quest.
There are the best kind of creatures for any fight, you won't ever have them.
Irreproducable bugs will always happen to you and never to somebody else.
When concerning kill and ressurct items, other person always has one more than you can handle.

    edit:
    New player, isn't.
You're not invincible, grinders and Dst take note.
You've been logging in every day for past 4 years since you started playing and you're about to appear on active vets list? Tough luck because some fossil just came back out of blue. If your name is Amber, then 5 fossils.
If Everyone is blaming you then there is No one to blame.

    edit 2:
If somebody has access to MB buckets, he will inevitably take MDA ones. You guessed it 1 minute before you arrive all will be gone. Not that it matters because water is by some magic already depleted for whole week.
