1. Okay, I would suggest moving it to photoshop and making it transparent. An easy way of doing this is removing the back ground layer by cutting the image out of the background, closing the window and opening up a new canvas.
Paste the image onto the canvas.

Go to your 'layers' window which, if you cannot find it, you should be able to locate it on the top menu by going to Window --> Layers

Go to your layers window and then go to the 'channels' tab. Click the thing that looks like a hollow circle, it's very small and it's at the very bottom of the channels tab/layers window.

This will select the entire image.

Then, once this is done..
Go to: Select --> Inverse

This will select only the drawn image (the tablet-drawn image).

Okay, now this part is a little difficult so bear with me if you don't understand:

Make sure you have the color black selected in your color pallet, otherwise this won't come out correctly.

Create a new layer and when you open this new layer, select it.
Hit Shift + F5 and this will fill your image onto this new layer.

Resize it to the proper proportions, then save it to "save for web devices" as a transparent GIF.

So far I've only tried this with non-computer images, but it should work with computer drawn images too.
Keep in mind that this can be used in GIMP or Photoshop CS3. I haven't tried this in GIMP yet, but I intend to experiment once my laptop comes back from service.

I found this all out through a tutorial on the web. Once I'm able to get that from my laptop too, I'll post it for you Mr. Mystery.

@Chewett: I'm not 100% certain about this.. but I think you can create computer-created images so long as they stick to the MD style of art. It would be something to ask Mur.. otherwise I'm not certain.

2. I believe this avatar is the one you speak of? I recall you wearing it at one point..

It is one of Glor's avatars, I believe it is an older one that was once worn by Renavoid.

If I see this worn by anyone, I shall tell you.

3. I was recently able to access my laptop, under the supervision of my brother (the techie) and I was able to get the wish point codes needed for the quests.

Rewards are currently in distribution: As stated in the Mood Panel... I am Searching for Mr. Mystery, Shadow Seeker, Adiomino, Assira the Black, Master Hitoshi, and BFH LIGHTHING. Come and claim your rewards!

4. Announcement:

Wish points will have to be given out as the very last prize. There was an accident with my laptop where it fell off of one of our TV trays and into the coffee table. The screen is cracked and currently I can't access the information on the hard drive.

Unfortunately, this means that I can't get to my phone book, my back up MD folder, or any of my personal information. Basically, I can't get the wish point codes.

Once my brother is able to extract the information from the hard drive, I'll give the wish points out. If they happen to expire before then, I will talk to the Speaker of the Forest, Firsanthalas about getting two more.

This is for those who were wondering why they haven't been given a prize yet.
Please note that all other prizes, such as coins, aged creatures, etc. will be given normally.

frell....i kindly request people to undo the editing i did to their posts....ie edit your posts back re-adding all the nominations.

the top...err...4/5 people who get nominated the most will be put forward to the vote

please state objections to this, apologies for the *cough* up
I will do this for you once I have my nomination list. (it's on my laptop, which the screen is cracked, so I can't get it currently.)

As to your thoughts on the people who were nominated most.. part of me feels that this is fair, and part of me feels that this is not fair towards the people who may have only been nominated twice.

This tends to turn the awards into a popularity contest rather than an awards ceremony for people who deserve to be recognized for certain things they may or may not have done in game over the past year.

If I may suggest that you make a separate thread for each category so that all of the players who were nominated are able to have a vote cast toward them. Perhaps a temporary forum section could be placed in order to do this without creating clutter?

6. Most of the LHO I have spoken to aren't in it for personal gain, and I'm not entirely sure that's what Sparrhawk meant by his post, I would have to re-read it.

The point is, not everyone in MD is completely selfish, though greed is certainly a highlight in MD.

(Please remove the post below. That was an accident.)

One thing: please nominate just 1 (ONE) person for each category.
Amoran, please edit your post and choose just one.
 Fixed. I forgot that we can only nominate one person, either way I hope that others will nominate the ones I had to remove. They have all done well.

8. In regards to the artwork quest, I have judged the entries and have picked three entries that I found to be unique but equally well done in different ways. I had great trouble choosing these top three because there were so many wonderful entries!

The top three best artworks are as followed (in no particular order):

Yoshi - His entry was a cup that had been decorated with images of fall-themed things.
Comments: I found his entry to be creative in that he chose to use something somewhat different, an autumy-colored cup, as a base for the drawings, which were well done considering that they were drawn in marker.

Zleipheir - His entry is what looks like, to me, to be a winter wind blowing the leaves away from trees.
Comments: I thought this was kind of cool, considering that very few had thought up this idea, and the artwork was well done too.

Marvolo - His entry reminds me of autumn leaves in the sunlight. He showed great skill in drawing the details of the leaves, as well as creating a suitable background for the image.
Comments: I liked the realistic sense that was shown in his drawing, it created a certain atmosphere to the artwork and.. over all, it was beautifully done.

Honorable Mention:

Mr Mystery
Ravenstrider
Shadow Seeker
Adiomino
Assira the Black

Rewards:
-Wishpoint
-Gold Avatar
-Aged Pimped Grasan, 12 branches
-Gold coins
-Aged creatures
-Silver

Please note that every contestant will get ~something~ from this quest, no matter how small the reward may seem, you will be rewarded.

10. Art education isn't the answer in this case. Try meditation and looking at amazing photography for a month. :)

I don't think you can really be 'educated' in art.. I think it's just something that some people slowly learn how to do, while trying to make the images in their heads real. Sometimes it's not even an image in their head, sometimes it's just drawing and whatever comes out on paper, comes out on paper.

Most of the time what I draw isn't intended either, it just turns into what it turns into and I play and poke at it until I feel that it's finished, which most of the time the art isn't.

11. MD style likely refers to the fact that you have sent in what appears to be line art. And 'too bumpy' may mean that the image is not of high quality.

I would suggest adding a bit of shading to the blade, and perhaps add something to the subject with a bit more personality to your character in game. I don't think a sword and a shield are suitable alone to represent an avatar, but maybe an item perhaps.

Keep trying. Don't give up! :)
