1.
mds_player_avatar("playername");
will echo the active avatar of said player. I don't think there is a way to echo "any" avatar by id number as it could be used to look at all avys without seeing them on people or going through the shop. On a php server you may be able to use the gd library to modify an image with something like
imagefilter("img",IMG_FILTER_NEGATE);
but it should be noted that Mur may not have it installed and if he does he may not have allowed it for use in md-script.
2. I received my gift today. It did arrive in the junk folder so make sure that you are checking that as well as your inbox.
3.
those avatars cant be used anywhere else once they become MD avatars, (no forum avatars, no web gallery, nothing and i mean it) , and you receive 3 credits for each avatar that you make and its added to the MD avatar gallery. And although it doesnt specify they "own" them, It does seem like it due to the bolded part
That would make it a work for hire and the copyright is owned by MagicDuel(Mur) If an artwork is submitted to MD (for no payment) it is possible that MD gains the copyright similar to the way newspapers gain the copyright of submitted photos though I think Mur should post a warning to uploaders to that effect. If there is no payment then the artist maintains copyright of the original and all other resolutions/formats and they can be used for any purpose as the artist sees fit. That is how I see it though it has been 15 years since I took a copyright law course.
4. I kinda like the idea... mostly because I don't think that the game should be played on the forum. As for Chewett's reasoning about how to decide which offer is better, well that would be an easy fix. Allow the creator of the trading system the ability to reject offers and let others see that the offer has been rejected.
5. Thank you Kets for the invite. Awiiya, I think I will look into expanding it in that direction but I think I will leave the question about "who" because I think that the question needs to be asked even if there is no conclusion.
6. Here is a copy of my research to date. There are images in the actual document. Plan: To explore the physical and magical connections between locations within MagicDuel. Method: The physical connections between locations that appear close together on the map, seem to be connected in some physical manner will be examined. Theories based on those connections will be put forward especially if the areas are not able to be travelled between directly. (Some OOC ideas may be brought up in regards to game mechanics.) Items that will be used in this investigation are: image within the area, name of location, co-ordinates and the verse stirred up in each area (if any). Phase 1: Underground and it's relationship to Overground (Marind's Bell and No Man's Land) Who/What formed the Underground? It is my belief that portions of the underground were once an underground river or aquifer possibly fed from the Storm Coast. Reasons for this belief include: a tunnel that leads from The Storm Coast to just underneath Marind's Bell, and the dry well at Fortune's Well. It appears that Fortune's Well (1_-1x1_1)leads directly down to Underway Crosspaths(2_-1x1_1). The co-ordinates appear to show that there is a relationship between them. There is also a shaft of sunlight that shines from Fortune's Well down into Underway Crosspaths. It should be noted that Bells Nymph Archway appears to be located at the top of the stairs in Underway Crosspaths. It should be noted that there is no sign of occasional water within the caverns at this time. This could indicate a major geological shift (perhaps something that also separated this land from the Lands of the East)that caused the passages to be drained or it could be that the water source was dammed or diverted by someone for their own purposes. Of course this is not the only connection of the world above to the world below. There is also a grate that spills light down from the Champion's Dome Exterior into the Fateless Doors. It is possible that this grate was added to ensure fresh air in the lower chambers in this area as we can see there is development(in the form of manufactured doors) in the lower chamber here. At a future date I hope to explore more about the Fateless Doors. There is also a location that claims to be the foundation of the Marind Bell Gates. The co-ordinates indicate that this may be true and the Underground must travel under the walls of Marind Bell at some point so there is no reason to not believe that it is in fact the foundation wall. The Gazebo of Chaos may be located directly beneath the Gazebo of Equilibrium. The co-ordinates seem to suggest this. It does raise a question as to whether the five pillars of each gazebo are actually the same pillars. Also, since Chaos is usually the oposite of Order or Symmetry and not Equilibrium or Balance. Does this mean that there is a Gazebo of Order (or the like) that is yet undiscovered? Since I have not gained the ability to fly I am unable to search the skies above the Gazebo of Equilibrium for another gazebo there. (After reading my research Awiiya suggested that equilibrium is a form of order which, in my opinion, is true but only so far that equilibrium is made up of order and chaos. I maintain that there is a distinct possibility that there exists a location dedicated to the idea of perfect order) Why is there a connection between The Underground and Marind Bell/No Man's Land? A few theories present themselves in answer to this question. The first is that there was a reason to create an exit from Marind Bell; perhaps an escape route for people in the time of war. Another option is that it was originally a route created to allow an invasion force access within the walls of Marind Bell. This theory does not seem likely mostly due to the amount of finished stonework done on Marind Bell side. A third theory would be to allow access to the doors located at the Fateless Doors. At this location, we can see three passages, a door in good shape though locked through some unknown method, a door that seems to have been destroyed by some amount of force, and a rough hewn hole that leads to a bridge and beyond to the Gazebo of Chaos.
7. Awiiya, I think you've read my research. Would that be acceptable for the Appendixes? Laphers
8. Why, oh why do we go into madness mode as I get busy at work? I will not speak on the 4 points of the circle as it is too late for me to think on that right now but I think I recognize a "type" of inner sun like what Mur describes here. In RL I experience it every couple years. When it ignites, I change my personality type, become quite driven, double my workload and thrive on reduced sleep. I find myself at my most creative at these times. But it is an imperfect inner sun as it burns itself out after about six months. This then recharges over the next year to 18 months before it happens again. If I can perfect my own inner sun I should be able to sustain my creative side (while being a mostly technical, linear thinker).
9. If there is a reset available there is a table between the Next Items section and the bonus code with the following text: Shop Reset You have X shop resets available. You can reset all shop progress and start over with beginner items if you wish so by clicking here. This is usefull when you run out of items to buy. All permanent boosters will apply again and the limited edition creatures will be available for purchase a second time. It is recomanded not to use this untill you exhaust all items. NO CASH BACK Most of the items in the features category wont be available a seond time also some creatures are restricted to just one. It should show on all Shop pages except the avatar gallery. As to why you don't have one xreig, I couldn't speculate but the last time there were errors I believe everyone had to get a shop reset. This wasn't that long ago so they may not do so again. Then again, the Mind of Mur is strange and wondrous. He may grant it as part of the birthday celebrations.
10. The Sun Humans wonder what it is. They seek it out; long for its return in the darkness. Desire is born. They strive to learn about it. They theorize and test; reformulate and test again. Science is born. They feel its warmth. They sing its praises; paint its beauty and dance in its warmth. Art is born. They view its bounty. They strike; harm its children and take from their siblings. War is born.
11. I was not aware that he stated that items shouldn't be recalled. I do remember him saying that if items were lost we had to get them back. Getting an item back from an active player isn't the issue (it may be a problem but not an issue ), getting one back from someone who has quit the game is. Is this not a solution to a problem that plagues the game (inactives) while still allowing players to "steal" items? It makes the act of stealing an active thing. I'm not sure about your laziness comment, was that aimed at the question I raised about transferring items or something else? I tried to formulate an idea that would still allow people/alliances to lose control over their items but not require a coder/item creator to manually add items back into a world that has lost all resource gathering items? Or to put it another way, what good are resources in a world where you can't do anything with them?

Usable Item Storehouse
13. I thought I had posted this as an idea earlier but I can't seem to find the topic so I think I may have just dreamed it. This idea will assist the resource gathering guilds but the theory could be used for other usable items as well. A clickable is set up as a storehouse for usable items that is only accessible to characters that have a certain stat value in their resource gathering stat. Any character that logs out (or perhaps idles) has their usable item automatically transfered back to the storehouse to be available to other characters. Characters who try to take an item from the storehouse while already holding an item(s) from the storehouse will cause all storehouse items to be returned to the storehouse and the new item to be transfered to the character's inventory. -by transfering items back to storehouse at logout or idle should eliminate item hording and lost items due to inactivity This will ensure that usable items (specifically resource gathering) will be available for guild use without having to be concerned about players who choose to stop logging in while holding usable items necessary to the guild but still allows players who are active and have said resource gathering stat to gain tools. This can allow a guild to have more members than they have tools. It can also allow ex-members of a guild who have built up their resource gathering stat to stage a type of rebellion by taking and holding/using tools. I am uncertain if these special tools should be transferable/have an ITC or should only be available to the person who takes them from the storehouse. -having a transferable item may mean that people could "sell" an item that will transfer out of the recipients inventory -being able to transfer items could mean that a one-person rebellion could take and transfer all items away. I invite your comments/critiques.
14. I believe that part of the reason for freezing wins on crits at xp cap is to encourage people to move up mp levels to the level that is more "appropriate" for them rather than let them get overpowered. There are ways that have been used to circumvent that in the past but for the majority of players hitting xp cap means that it is time to move up. If you are already at mp5 then there is a way to remove the xp that is holding you back and you can explore that part of the game now. At least that's how I see it.
15. It is not related to honor but it will change based on ... something else. Keep watching it and you will figure out what it is in time.
16.
Ah this is due to the security code at the login page.
An error on the security code doesn't cause the login cooldown. I know because I have messed up the code many times and never gotten the cooldown.
17. In real life, other things happen at the same time as funerals/memorials. I recognize that we are a small community and splitting it by holding 2 events may seem like a bad idea but at the same time, both parties will definitely see how people felt about the scheduling conflict by voting with their attendance. This may seem a bit harsh but ultimately MD is a game about choices and by holding 2 events people get to make a choice.
18. As an opposing view point, I would like to thank Eon for idling with a tree set at the park allowing me to gain wins for my creatures and Victories to bring me closer to balance than I have been for most of my mp5 experience.
19.
Not entirely sure that a rock should be giving me combat tips
I think that in a magical land, rocks should be allowed to offer combat tips. Whether you take them or not is an entirely different matter.
20. Perhaps, instead of "Nothing interesting here right now" it could randomly grab one of the hints that currently appear in the triggers box. Once someone inserts something into a clickable it disables the hint and shows the contents of the clickable instead. That would make every clickable contain something that pertains directly to MD and doesn't interfere with clickable use.

It's not as elegant but I think it does the trick
24. Actually, I was thinking that the items would still have ITCs and could still be transferred but the thief would then have to work with others to keep the item away from the guild. It makes theft an activity rather than an action.
25. I was going to post this as a separate topic but this seemed like a more appropriate topic to place it in. I have been considering the potential problem of inactivity within the current Woodcutter's Guild and how that can affect the guild and other resource gathering guilds as well as the MD community. Problem: Members of a guild (or former members) having possession of an item from the guild but not using it or going inactive and the guild being lessened by not being able to regain items that it requires to gather the resources. As there are a finite number of items that the guild members can use to gather materials, losing any of them to inactivity is a loss to the whole community and not just the guild. Solution A central location (clickable) that stores resource gathering items for guild members to pick up and use while they are logged in. Once a member has logged out(idled out), the item automatically gets returned to the distribution point. This would ensure that items are never lost to inactivity or become a trophy in someone's item vault. Only one item (per resource?) per account at a time would be allowed. Option A Players must wear a resource gathering guild badge to be able to be able to pick up an item. Option B Players must have a minimum skill level in one of the resource gathering stats to be able to pick up an item. We know that Mur has the ability to have items return to a location for recharging after use so why not return on logout(idle out)? This would keep the items available for MD as a whole. It would still be possible for someone to "steal" an item but they must be much more active about their theft rather than obtaining it and holding it. In some ways, it may actually stimulate activity if someone were to try to steal an item. I would appreciate any comments/thoughts you might have in regards to this suggestion.
