  2. It could affect the people based on land affiliations. I can sort of see the technologists and technomages of GG going out in a storm to fly kites and the people of LR enjoying a light rain.
  3. Back when the guild was originally being formed Mur asked us to post our ideas for other tools to assist in harvesting. I posted this list elsewhere but am reposting this here so that it is easier to find when tools are being considered for creation. Hoedad - a planting tool (Shouldn't woodcutters be concerned with making sure that we replace what we take?) Lopper - trims branches off of a tree trunk (We currently use axes to gather branches so this may be redundant) Chipper - takes branches and scrap wood and chips them into a mulch [b]Bark Spud[/b] - removes bark from tree (resources exist but no tools to collect) [b]Drip Tap[/b] - for collecting sap (resources exist but no tools to collect)
  4. We will be replanting from seeds/nuts taken from the same area, preferably from surrounding trees or the one that is being removed. We do not accept the idea of clearing an area of trees but will take sparingly from areas that will not be harmed in the taking. It is necessary at times to thin some trees out so that those that are left behind can grow stronger without the competition for light and nutrients.
  5. The mission of the Woodcutters Guild is to provide forestry resources (lumber, branches, treebark, resin) to the people of MD while ensuring responsible, sustainable forestry practices are maintained.

I kinda like the % indicator idea but perhaps it should be a colour coded view (green - everything is fine, yellow - something's happening, orange - trouble's brewing, red - the s**t has hit the fan) Then the coders or Mur can decide what percentage each colour change should take place at without informing the populace. As for active rebels/citizens: make the the counter only count the citizens/rebels who have been active in the last 5 days. And as to the current ongoing rebellion - perhaps they have to maintain the redzone for a period of time. It is generally known that human nature prefers the status quo as much as we claim otherwise.
  8. I'm a big believer in sharing knowledge in RL but in the case of the game, and this suggestion, I think it will make the game less entertaining. However, I do think that there can be use in sharing questions. People can come together and share things that they have observed. (Has anyone noticed that there is something different in the Park after solving the Berzerker's Way Puzzle?) By phrasing your question correctly you can not give a spoiler but can encourage people to investigate the question. If people wish to share ideas, they can discuss theories (preferably off the beaten track and/or ensuring that spoilers are removed). If spoilers must be included in the discussion, it can be taken to pm.
  9. You would barter the power shown in emptying an existing alliance. If 20/20 people leave an alliance and a King is shown to have a one less alliance in his/her land then the rebels display their power. It's basically bragging rights more than anything. Having thought about using an empty alliance as bragging rights though, I wonder about what happens if alliance leadership wants to rebel but isn't sure about the rest of their alliance. They could conceivably kick out anyone they weren't sure about joining them in rebellion and then set themselves as rebels and they have effectively emptied the alliance. I wonder if there is any way of ensuring that that doesn't happen? Perhaps by ensuring that any alliance kicks (for previous 7 days) are reversed if the last person to leave becomes a rebel (including if they leave the alliance and then set themselves as a rebel).

  11. If I may add one item to the conversation... Mur has the ability to see how the current wishpoints are distributed and how WP have been spent. Does this not suggest that he believes that MD needs more WP than it currently has (or that they need to be distributed differently)? And if that is the case then maybe he wants more use of the Wishshop (or item creation) than is currently happening. Continuing that line of reasoning, the Wishshop may not need too much tweaking as he seems to want more WP (and the corresponding purchases) out there. (I'm not saying that this is what Mur is thinking but rather how his announcements [i]could be[/i] interpreted)

    Gifts

    Asking for a gift devalues true gifts. When shop resets were worked on last week and everyone got a free shop reset - that was a gift. If Mur decides to give presents at a Festival or Christmas - that will be a gift. But asking for a gift makes it seem like you need to repaid for not being able to play a game that is already a gift.

  14. Hmmm, I just tried gathering there and it worked for me. My inventory of lumber increased and the location amount went down.
  15. Could you post what tool you were using, which resource you were trying to gather and the specific location(s) that didn't work please. (You weren't early on your tool cooldown were you?) I just tested gathering lumber using the Apprentice Lumber Saw in two locations of MDA and one in MB and it worked. Rendril and I tested LR and NML the other night.

    Interesting idea. If no one speaks against it, may I suggest that you start by using the AL for your storyboard inspiration.

  18. Yeah, make them aware of the rules, then if they continue to ignore them, retaliate. It does bother me when I see mp5s tell people that the rules are just a "suggestion". Mp3s and mp4s appreciate a common area to test their rituals and chat. Just because we mp5s are not covered by the SP doesn't mean that we shouldn't encourage mp3s and mp4s to utilize the rules and create community there. The community created by friendly interaction at the park will last through to their promotion to mp5.

  20. I'm going to declare this quest closed. Only 2 mp3 completed the quest by finding the 9 cards. Mystauruk completed the quest in 47 minutes VonUngernSternberg completed it in 2 days, 15 hours, 8 minutes These players should contact me either in game or here on the forum to get their reward.

Maybe I'm missing something but I've always felt that Mur designed, and continues to design this game to encourage people to explore and to learn, and to test limits and push themselves to new levels. Topics like this are always about putting restrictions on people which I think defeats that purpose. I wonder if our time would be better served discussing ways to develop the game rather than restrict it?

  23. Only mp3s get rewards but they only have to search within the open lands. mp4 and 5 have to go further. The only place that I didn't put in is Necrovion... and I would have if I could get a reliable way of checking if someone has access. Also, I have modified the "got" and "found" so that they are a little more noticeably different.

For some reason 0 degrees came out as due south when I was expecting it to be east but that was an easy fix. Of course if you were using this in an item with a locate spell you would have to increase the locations array to cover all map locations.
