  1. When the cauldron tests began I thought that maybe the guilds would each get a cauldron type item that could create items for their area of specialization. Like a kiln - 20 lumber and heat give you a pine plank, 100 lumber and heat give you an oak plank or something like that.

This is the first I've heard about it. I have asked my guild (myself and 2 others) to try to get a tool each week to try to limit the amount of depletion that is happening in LR and other areas. I have never asked them to hoard items or use alts to hide them away and neither do I believe that any of them have acted in such a manner. So please keep me and my guild out of your arguments unless you have some proof to your statements. Udgard spoke about how the resource guilds may have felt with the changes to tools but as the first guild to get tools I welcomed the changes because it guaranteed that the tools wouldn't get lost on inactive players like we had experienced in the short time that the guild had been around. Yes, there were changes to be made to the guild and we are still dealing with that but ultimately I feel that it is in the guilds' best interests to not be marketing guilds (that's right, no money) but find a new focus for themselves (at least until Mur makes more changes). Personally, I would encourage the Fusioneers to allow the jars to be freely distributed and see what actually changes (other than making money). Heat is one resource that can't be depleted so they are in a unique position to allow everyone access to the jars and not worry about depletion of resources.
  3. I like the idea in general. What if the link only shows up in scenes where the highest AP exit of that scene (standard AP +viscosity) is greater than max AP? And using it consumes all AP. Also, the location(s) should be non-sanctuary location(s )(outside Paper Cabin or the roof).
  4. Just so you are aware, the Woodcutters would have sold 110 for 11 silver. With shared tools, asking for gold is a little outrageous. You may want to rethink your pricing.
  5. I thought that the GOE spell was primarily created to pull people to GOE for heads contest (among other uses). It is for that reason that it works on people who are logged out and in Sanctuaries, I believe. IMHO, putting limitations on an administrative spell like that is going to create more problems than it would solve.
  6. Perhaps something like (castee's Power / castee's Active Days) / (caster's Power / caster's Active Days) = chance of failure (Perhaps Luck should be figured in as well). And apply this to all stones. This could mean that a younger or less active player should have less chance to work a packaged spell against an older/more active player and a spell earned (through the shop) doesn't suffer this chance of failure.

  8. Was that me removed from HC or were there others? I would assume that it pulls the last (x) locations from the database, and it orders by time and some unknown field but not by timestamp causing all the :23 grouped together but the actual order be messed up.

I'm not sure why I didn't see Curi's post from the 25th but I will say that I am not as concerned with the loss of tools on inactive people since Mur posted that he is looking at ways to ensure that resources will be much more freely available (It seems like a type of promise made to all members of MD rather than a "fix" for the Woodcutters). As for alts, I stand by my original stance against using alts. It made collecting the byproduct easier but I feel it detracted from the way the game should be played. (@Mur, if my use of an alt in this fashion is deserving of a punishment, I accept it freely.)

  13. As one who has had the ability to gather resources for almost a year I would like to say that I fully support this change. I always felt that I gained more from gathering resources (walking the land, gaining the woodcutting stat, chatting with people while the tool cooldown was in effect) than I ever gained from selling a resource. During the birthday celebration a couple of guild members even tried giving away small amounts of resources anonymously to generate some interest/activity in the resources. Since the introduction of the Cauldron people have been clamoring for resources, some large amounts, some small. Some people are now regularly depleting certain resources which of course slows down the collecting and distribution. For those who were at the recent heat letting ceremony, did any of you see the similarities to a recipe? People shared a resource that is freely available to gain something... something that they couldn't hold but was actually more valuable (in my opinion). Monopolies could be a problem only if those who have the ability to gather resources (or those with cauldron type items) don't want to share with all the people. I will do my part to try to ensure that doesn't happen. Laphers

[/quote] Yes, the ITC has been suggested and I think I will implement it for future members. But this topic is not specifically for Woodcutters but resources in general as the person who was asking me about using the alts was confused as to why I would even hesitate on using them.

  17. I had a conversation today with someone who asked me why I don't use alts to help collect resource orders. Personally, I find the idea unappealing because it takes something away from my role and gameplay. But, to be fair, I am going to try an experiment with resources and alts just to see if it helps. Of course, this issue is coming to light because of the introduction of the cauldron and recipes. Lumber and branches and sawdust have been available for almost a year but now, all of a sudden,lots of people want lots of resources. There are some who are willing to sell any resources at a higher price than the guilds because they have them and the guilds are swamped with orders. Personally I think this is good because there will always be people willing to pay higher prices to gain faster service. I would rather see active people working in the guild; unfortunately, currently the Woodcutters have a few members that have gone inactive since the resources were introduced and currently there is no way to regain tools from inactive members. This is an issue that is being worked on but ultimately each guild will have to deal with it. Is the use of alts to assist in gathering resources useful to gameplay? Ultimately I think it isn't but I want to hear what the community as a whole thinks about it.
  18. This is a bit off the cuff and possibly not really well thought out but bear with me. What if MP6 was given the ability to teach herb knowledge to MP3-5? MP3 could learn 1 herb(common), MP4 learns 2(common, uncommon) and MP5 learns 3 herbs(common, uncommon, rare). Then when they go out gathering with the collecting item they have a higher probability of getting that/those herb(s). It could allow for random herb finding but with skewed probabilities. Perhaps this could apply to processing herbs as well.

    Wouldn't it work a bit better for all if when the flash timer counts down to 0:00 it automatically resyncs?
  23. Rats in a maze. Mur changes the gameplay rules, guess what happens? Some players will adjust to the rules and use them to to their own ends. Others will say that the rules aren't meant to be interpreted that way and run the maze the old way. I'm sure that Mur watches gameplay and the forums everytime he makes a significant change to gameplay. I'm sure that the rule changes were to decrease the use/abuse of alts/newbs in gaining mp6 but change sometimes creates it's own oddities. Having said all that I will say that I am interested in being a part of the oddity I offer my service as an adept to HAU. I am not an adept of anyone who is currently mp6 so my offering will harm no current mp6.
  24. Well, the mds_player_avatar is pretty clear about the 5 avy limit. It's there to keep from overloading the script processing engine. Perhaps regular chess icons (in MD style) and the King as the avatar of the player playing the script?
