1. Woodcutter - so I've gotten a lot of chances to gather wood products A few times that I've taken other tools and then found that the resources that I am trying to gather others have taken below 66%. I try very hard not to take any resources below a level that won't regenerate in a day.
2. Happy Birthday Mya! Hope it's a great one!
3. Happy Birthday Mur! Hope it's a great one!
4. I think I might have time to do this so I'll throw my hat in
5. Chew: My FF version is always the latest version(currently 18.0.2). I do believe that it is the Celeron processor though and not FF that is causing the issue as my home computers with proper processors don't have the issue.
6. The nice guy in me says that it is nicer to allow all to harvest therefore harvesting only to the level that will allow full regeneration at the next regen time is proper. But depletion happens so I would like to see a mechanic that allows players to push resource regeneration to a faster level. I think it would allow a different dynamic that could help non-depleters and depleters alike.
7. Depletion is a tool that some use. No one has a reason for running his contest. I may not agree with it but he has proclaimed it as his current role and he is acting on it. I would like to see a game mechanic introduced that allows a player to "undo" depletion. I know that I would be quite willing to wander the paths of the forest and replant trees, splice branches or whatever that would allow resources to replenish more quickly.
8. I seem to remember suggesting something like this before but... Why not have any heads that a player has when he/she logs out redistribute (equally or randomly) to online players. The number of heads can only increase as the contest continues. This can allow redistribution of the head ball but it shouldn't allow for the contest to continue for weeks because the heads can be recollected by active players. Another idea for Stage 2 would be to move the Head Hill randomly (from a list of allowed Hills) after each count. It rewards the active player who will seek out the new location to score at the next count. An option to limit crossover between HC and BHC would be to only allow BHC players to get heads from anyone who currently has a Heads medal
9. I have an older computer at work that I can't use FF to create rituals. If I play at work, I have to use IE to create the rituals and then switch back to FF. I thought it had something to do with the age of the comp (Celeron processor). My laptop and desktop at home don't have the problem.
10.
I do agree with you on not agreeing with preventing others access to resources.
Do as I say not as I do?
11. Chewett is right. I will try to respond to the idea with suggestions instead. I'm ambivalent towards the temporary tool so I won't speak to that. What if the private tool were to have a limited number of uses? If it costs 1000 resources, what if it disappeared after collecting 1000 (or 1001, 1050 or 1500) resources. The owner could sell the collected resources at a profit (possibly) and come out ahead if they want/need to get a private tool again. If it did disappear, what if it didn't award the collecting stat gain until it was used up. So, you would have to lose the tool to gain the 20 on the stat. I do like the idea about splitting resources but as Grido pointed out splitting large groups of resources goes against the original plan for resources.
12. I have collected over 1000 of a resource. Once before the tools were shared and it took me 3.5 months (I believe that it was a single tool but I could be wrong). And twice since the tools were shared; once for branches and once for lumber (I haven't tracked how long it took me). 97% of the time I was holding a single tool. I am not concerned with maintaining a land's control over any one resource. I do not agree with anyone's tactic with depleting resources as I feel that the only reason to do that is to limit others ability to get resources. If I was concerned with maintaining a monopoly over resources or tools then I would have spoken against Mur's plan for shared tools rather than supporting it. There are at least 2 people who have independent tools for woodcutting. As well there are at least two (non LR) people who have LR illusions so that's 4 people who potentially harvest wood products and not be controlled by LR so while there is a limit to who can harvest directly it is not a monopoly.
13. If there is a way to potentially create more gathering items than actual resources then I would not support this idea. Person A collects 1000 resources and gets a tool, Then collects 1000 resources and sells/gives them to Person B. Person B gets a tool and begins the same thing. Soon there are 4 people with tools, then 8 and so on. But there are a fixed maximum number of resources available to be harvested and a fixed regeneration rate. Having a potentially unlimited number of tools will ultimately be harmful to allowing resources to reach all players. Those who deplete resources are not usually harvesting to gain resources but to keep them from others (the side benefit is that they are receiving the small amount). Unfortunately the resource regeneration works in favour of the depleters by letting them have a few days off before they have to deplete again. Those who do not deplete are bound by their trust in others and willingness to share resources with others. Having more tools in the hands of others will only assist those who deplete resources keep them from the majority of MDers. Edit: I question your amount of 750 resources as being an amount that is a maximum usable amount. I am currently carrying 1200 branches that I collected myself. When I became loyalty leader of the Woodcutters in Dec 2010 (before tool sharing) I started collecting lumber. That lumber was at 1200 when I gave it away in the middle of April 2011. I recently traded away over 1000 lumber again in Sept last year. So 750 seems quite low if you are patient. 10 of a collecting skill? I have 1 in water collecting. I've held a pail less than 5 times (and I've never depleted water to get that skill). Do you want to know what my woodcutting skill is? I can guess what Eon's herbalism skill was. This amount seems to be ridiculously low.
14.
Asking noobs to support your cause because you're too lazy to WORK?
Poor taste - on your part, yes Cheating - If campaigning for a wish is cheating, isn't your campaigning against a wish cheating? Crude laziness - Since the message was sent in game, it seems that Amoran WORKED by walking around and sending messages to your so-called "noobs" rather than your being lazy by posting one message on the forum so that many could see it. dst, every time you start one of your self righteous witch hunts I get more tired of this game and that is one of the problems that MD is currently experiencing. Will you be happy when everyone leaves and you are left alone in the world?
15. Mya Celestia (10 points) -Summon spell Udgard (9 points) -upgrade to my item creation ability, to allow me to create usable items, and in extension items that can create other items Tal (8 points) -an item to give or remove the sylvan watch tag to people tankfans (7 points) -Fix the bridge at the Oak Fort, I can provide lumbers and branches if needed. This helps a lot when going to and fro from Oak Fort and GoE. Since this is a selfish wish, I hope the it will require at least 200 AP to move through that bridge. Dark Demon (6 points) -return of the Children of the Eclipse Eagle Eye (5 points) -Silvan Watch Spell or Silvan Spell ( If you deplete the resources you can't harvest in 5 days and if you collect and harvest bellow the amount of resources you can't harvest in 3 days and the cool effects is to lock move 5 minutes in every scene after depleting and harvesting bellow the amount) Shemhazaj (4 points) -I wanted to get 1k Fenths exchanged (made into) an independent reality coagulator. POE (3 points) -chase spell Darigan (2 points) -return of my piece of brain and the Root of the Matter Inn Guest Book from BlackThorn's Inventory Kyphis (1 point) -"Ledger of Census" A small pad listing the citizens of the land, most of the pages have already been filled in. Only a handful of pages remain to be filled. (An item capable of granting citizenship to the MDA to upto 10 people, no recharge, no expiry

17. Lib, If you are interested, I would part with the item that we spoke about the other day for one of the BPs.
18. I would wish: My item Ceremonial Log become usable to temporarily make the location where it is activated a Sanctuary for 24 hours (if possible, could it also create a town meeting link?). 30 day cooldown. I would like boots that make traveling between scenes (including gates) cost only 1 AP. If that's not allowed then boots that ignore viscosity. I would like to be on the Research and Connections committee.
19. If time is a spectrum with past at one end and future at the other and that correlates with another spectrum with entropy and stasis at either end and the future is actually made up of all "unhappened" events but also all past and present events (allowing that just because an event happened doesn't preclude said event from happening again) then the future is actually in stasis. The introduction of entropy creates the event(present) and as the event devolves into entropy it fades into the past. In this way I believe that the two statements complement one another. The question that I ask is this. Is entropy contained within the future pushing the present out of the future (since the future contains all possibilities including the future being entropic) or is it outside of the future and it "pulls" the present out of the future allowing for the possibility of the event to happen again (like inducing electrical current across coils)?
20. Hmm, I have the same issue using Awiiya's Bone Saw (scripted by Awiiya). I have tried reloading the inventory page and the sidebar. If I click "open item" from the sidebar the item's html page opens correctly but the script (which stores text in the database) gives the error message. If I click "<<Details" to open the inventory page and click "Use item" for the Bone Saw I get the error message right away (it doesn't even show the item's html page) Awiiya, was this error message given from the Watering Can? Is it possible that a fix implemented for shared items has affected user scripted items?
21. Just off hand, would you still award prizes if someone confessed and could show significant evidence?
22. Tom has brought up a couple of interesting points that have sparked my interest in adding to this conversation. 1. To move the game forward requires drive and leadership (dare I say cult of personality) that was originally done by Mur. In his absence players want that same spark but do not find it within a faceless council. This does not mean that the council is ineffective but rather handicapped by the past. In the past Mur met with players in-game and discussed his vision for the future of the game. Now there are players (perhaps old players, perhaps not) that make up a council that people can't meet with and discuss where the game is going. This may be causing some of the (dislike/anxiety/what have you) that players are experiencing with/against the council. 2. Another item that the game requires is follow-through. This is an area that I believe was lacking with Mur but is actually improving with the council. We have coding updates, small issues get completed, recipes are released, bugfixes are becoming more common. I believe that this is the strength of the council: follow-through. In some ways it is impossible for the council to drive the game forward (at least the way it had been done in the past) as they are charged with maintaining what Mur has built. I believe that they would take significant time to decide to undo one of Mur's decisions and in that way they are handicapped. But they are free to complete projects already started and maintain. In a perfect world we would have drive, leadership and follow-through and maybe we will in the future but for now I'm not sure that change is needed.
23. Curriculum Vitae - basically a resume. In Canada resumes are more common for job seeking but CVs do show up in the arts (and possibly other fields).
24. Ok, since this is already in offtopic... Wouldn't it be interesting if a character could have a theme song? And it could override location music... and if there were multiple chars with theme music the server would decide who was most important (by age and/or active days, or whatever) and play their music. I know I'd start to laugh every time I heard the start of Dance of the Sugarplum Fairie.
25. I will vote for Lightsage. I do not know either candidate personally so I can't speak for their character but I feel that there is a need for change within the TKs and I believe that a fresh start (without established preconceptions) may be best.
