Better luck next time and thank you for taking part - you were ALL great! Judges: Thank you for your work (and some at short notice). I will be handing out a reward to each of you as a token of gratitude. Note: Apologies for any mistakes (counting, format, etc) it's 2am and I've only my iPad to sort this all :) Let me know if there's any major mistakes and I'll endeavour to correct them.

[Christmas Points] The Nightmare Before Murmas
Aethon replied to phantasm's topic in Contests, Quests and Adventures
So am I now to return the gold as I've been kicked to 4th? -
I wouldn't kick yourself too hard Sy! It was a great idea for a quest and good fun to take part in! Mistakes happen to us all! :)
-
My point was, many quests are made that have no connection to MD, all rewarding different types of rewards. What's the difference between awarding a drachorn or WP for a non-related quest? A reward is a reward at the end of the day? Given to someone for good work? I don't get why that has to be a barrier between in game or out of game so long as it's us as a community?

This hasn't been forgotten! I was letting Christmas and new year get out of the way before officially starting this! First quest will be up and running in the next few weeks so sign up, sign up! :D

Question: I know you've "lost your mind" and all but...how on Earth is this a quest? Or even an adventure (other than a doubtful personal one.)? I'd like to request this to be moved to New Player Roles and Legends please, the quests section has only recently been cleaned (thanks to Dstling and forum mods involved), it doesn't need clogging up with offtopic topics, in my opinion...

Was Neil Armstrong Really the first man on the Moon?
Aethon replied to Nimrodel's topic in Contests, Quests and Adventures
Bah! I wrote a whole article and then accidently pressed backspace on the main screen, sending the browser back!! Basically: Whilst I'm not one to believe in conspiracy theories, this one is certainly an interesting one. We all know that the power of governments and other "influential bodies" can have a huge and frankly frightening influence on what we do and don't know, often causing people to stipulate about all manners of conspiracies. Here are a few I found the most interesting when looking at this: Conspiracy Theory: The American flag can be seen waving in the air, almost flapping. Yet...this is surely impossible? As there is no air on the moon which means there is no such thing as wind or a "gentle breeze"? Counter Theory: Inertia. Inertia is when something remains unchanged or unaffected. In this case, the motion of the astronaut carrying the flag towards it's destination would have caused the "drafting" effect as it lagged behind (Speed and mass is still very real, even in space). Due to the lack of counter forces, this would have allowed the flag to remain in such a position for quite a long period of time! Awesome, ey?! Conspiracy Theory: Only two men landed on the moon, yet, in the pictures where both men and the Eagle (the pod they flew in) are caught, no cameras can be seen; who took these photos?! Counter Theory: Renowned author and Astronomer, Phil Plait, said "you can see [Neil's] arms are sort of at his chest. That's where the camera is. He wasn't holding it up to his visor." So...guess that's how! - Personal Note - I don't actually see the idea or sense in that (especially looking at this picture) but it's about 4;40am (at the time I write this) so perhaps I'm being blind? Anyway, if someone can dummify it and point it out to me, I'd be most obliged. Oh...dummify is a word? How interesting...anyway, I digress! Conspiracy Theory: No sort or "lunar dust" can be seen kicked up or even on the spacecraft, in fact...it looks completely devoid of any dust at all! Yet the astronauts claimed that, when back inside the pod, it had a very distinguishable smell -- like that of used gun powder. Surely some of that should be seen on the pod? Counter Theory: The engines were turned down before they landed, meaning no force to disturb or indent the soft surface. Apparently we were very wrong depicting great jets of fire in the movies! *!shock horror!* There's also various topics about how the boot prints (seen above) could only be made on wet sand (to be so distinguishable) but others say that, like any fine powder, it could easily be compressed and retain it's shape due to the moon's airless vacuum. It's all very interesting to read, actually! Thanks to my main source: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/07/photogalleries/apollo-moon-landing-hoax-pictures/ Also some mentionable sources: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/ - Literally one of my favourite sites for anything nature related (worship it!) http://www.space.com/26932-moon-smell-apollo-lunar-aroma.html - See! Gunpowder smells! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_landing_conspiracy_theories - Good old Wiki! (P.s. Never site this in exams or papers...apparently professors don't like it...) http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/space/solarsystem/collections/moon_landing_conspiracy_theories Also: A BBC news report on the "It's a conspiracy" idea! http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00j14gh And for those of you that may not be able to view the above video, this one is quite good (though outdated) as well! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zj5r3jXhV2Q Hope you enjoy this as much as I did! (P.s. It's now 5am and I'm now hooked on "IT'S A CONSPIRACY!" "NO IT'S NOT!" "YES IT IS!"...) -

[Christmas Points] Maebius says It's Murmas Time!
Aethon replied to Maebius's topic in Contests, Quests and Adventures
I thought these were the rewards then! :D I was thinking "Odd...I didn't even think these players were around..." and was questioning my sanity. Then I saw "similar to how we did this". :)) -

You should judge on: Conformity - Did the player(s) stick to the dinner and role theme? Originality - Were they original? Or was it the same old shtick? Roleplay - How good was their roleplaying? Embodiment of the Role - Did the player(s) become the role(s) they played? Were you convinced?) Humour - Was it fun to read? Did it make you chuckle or laugh? Adaptability - How well did they react to other's RP? Did they cope well with having role swapped or missing a go? Please note that this may or may not count in the judging. * Cleaned meaning - I have removed any excess chatter, confusion, names of players and edited slight areas to use player numbers (wild card uses) where names were once before. If anyone has any critiques, comments or problems they'd like to bring up, please message me directly and I will do my best to reply accordingly. Voting will last until the 9th. Have fun reading! :)

This is different though, I would assume? As the name has a function and is coded to reset if the requirements aren't fulfilled? (wrong creature, wrong level, etc) General names and functional names probably have different conditions and coding attached to them. I would guess anyway...

Suggestion: Merge with http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/17010-name-on-pimped-grasan-changed/ Seems to be same topic, different method.

Unfortunately I already have my fill of Angiens, thank you for the offer though. Feel free to continue offering though! :)

Just to remind participants that the dinner will be held tomorrow at 21ST, Archive Main Hall. Look forward to seeing you all there.

I can offer a hand organising (coordinating) and also documenting Mask's events.

I am selling two creatures: Santa and a Rusty. Both are fresh. Please feel free to offer anything you like (creatures, information, coins, items, stones, service offers, etc), I'll mention when a deal intrigues me. Oh...one other thing... Only bids from 360 AD and under accounts will be accepted and they must be active. No alts.

I know it doesn't matter, as it's not the point of the auction but: A) I do agree with Berth slightly. and B) I dislike the fact that the two main bidders are accounts that are quite inactive within MD and therefore will hoard away items on near dead accounts (especially a possible future cauldron item...). It's no personal dislike against the bidders, just selling them to inactive players is...saddening? I guess...

Buying an avatar, and having it go straight to your vault, will only worsen the avatar "hoarding", in my opinion. It'll be like giving someone a free sprint around the supermarket -- they'll throw things into their basket that they don't even really need, just saw and wanted because they could. At least now, if you really want an avatar, you have to go through a little struggle/annoyance to get it. Whilst I'm all up for people having more than one avatar, I think it should be a lower limit and only condoned if the player actually uses them for RP reasons. These are my personal opinions though, of course.

Just to let you know, previous holder was Guillak, I believe. (Correct me if I'm wrong ) -- Some people like to know the avatar history. :)
