  1. :D Thank you, Rhaegar. I believe, by the way, that Seig is referring to a future that will never be in an MBian's lifetime. e.g. see what happened to Wodin
  2. Seeking raw material for a conceptual development. You agree with the measures of council members' activity, though, that it's time spent thinking about planning or the time spent on (in hebrew) חשב, developing a thought, and אמר, overcoming the resistance to making it possible to discuss it? I think there might be other general categories of activity, especially דבר...then again, that one is almost trivial to measure...no need for cleverness
  3. MD email logins from separate IPs tracked separately... You're right, that's creepy. :) Perhaps ideally, what would be defined as the "activity" here would be the time spent between reading an email or clicking "compose" until hitting "send" on a reply, specifically the time in which MD-related (or sociology related/economy related/ psychology related / experiential reality related? The middle ground is thick and grey) windows are active. Time spent AFK is immeasurable and probably the most important part of any MD player's activity... Metrics that wouldn't work, especially if known, include: a. number emails sent b. number emails read c. character count in sent emails d. character count in read emails e. logins to email (all of these would involve cookie checking or something again to see which person's logged into MD, I guess...I don't know if there are internal emails councilmember1@magicduel.com, councilmember2@ etc. but am under the impression that that would cause problems since their identities are protected from each other)
  4. How does "no" follow from that? (A separate question is what kind of activity does the tree need to acknowledge vs. what should just stand as its own reward...hm.)
  5. Right...Does council make use of any in-game or MD staff-controlled interface (i.e. one into which a metric could be installed)? Notable is that anyone with a hand on the code or coders is obviously quite active.
  6. I know it's what you look for, Chewett, but this wasn't a question really of what's going to actually happen, more looking for theory. I was thinking earlier that name recognition might be a good indicator for one half of activity, but the other half is hard.
  7. They must not be very good, then...? So we should find better ones --> thread. Also I thought that alt detection was already in the system...?
  8. What is activity? What metrics do we / can we find of it? AB
  9. Vitality displays(realities? I don't know, haven't fought lately) seem to be broken in a slightly different way than before. See images for details. http://storenow.net/my/?f=4fb03b03a4ad9120d6ef313ed5894a53 Top right: HTML5 Bottom right: old version Bottom left: Close-up of the pimp with VE above max Top left: A new year towards peace, everyone.
  10. Resources are not physical either...hence the lack of stacking. I think this came up somewhere too. Items, I'm not sure. It doesn't follow from both being nonphysical that creatures can strengthen resource presence...there has to be another justification. Grasan attitude does indeed cause one to have a good sense of the..."ferment" and "dried skin" of the world. Similarly you would have to justify a creature being able to directly help to create an item. Attitudes can lead to "items" but usually it's not direct, but rather facilitated by experience, input..."heat," I guess. From Ivorak: Since posting this idea in that thread, I've come to wonder why the drachorns specifically get represent in a scene, and the tiny men...Right now it seems to me like the "chained-down drachorn, held by tiny men" is indeed a part of everyone's heart, and a very important one. And even though finding a reason to harness the drachorn attitude can come from unleashing the drach, there is still always one that's tied down in the lair. Similarly, there is always an untouched angien egg, even when we find a reason to harness the attitude of the hatched angien.
  11. This is going to sound strange, but I think the most important thing was when announcements started including the name of the speaker.
  12. This is just to say: I empathise, but when I go to sleep at 5 AM, writing about deep philosophy sure is appealing. :D So maybe write the comprehensive paper at those peak hours of the night, but then post it in the afternoon? (After revising)
  13. If scenes where collectibles are available were locked, though, then this would be probably the most effective way to control them, control depletion... I can imagine a lot of other RP ways it could be used, but right now my mind is overactive, so I won't go into those. If placed in mdscript, it also creates the possibility of player made quests that are automatically cyclic...this can be done in existing structure, of course.
  14. cyclic access control
  15. Well, the why is simple...gives a way to control community tools, gives more flexibility to the scary granting of privileges (imagine if someone got access to the GG collector items then defects to Necrovion, etc...it is an unforgiving system).
  16. Temporary or cyclic access to a scene. "Between days 350 and 360, you will have access to the lab...after that you'll be locked out again." I think this could be managed external to the key system, so that when the day changes it triggers key activations and deactivations...I don't know mdscript or much less coding, but why not?
  17. Perhaps a resource "teacher"? It would have two components, take certain inputs...memory stones, heat from the giver, fenths, heat from the recipient...and both would gain an amount of resource proportional to the amount the "teacher" is holding.
