Since a lot of people are focussed on age, well, they're both old accounts (2008, you say for Zen, Hedge? huh.) so neither gets any 'bonus' points on that one. For the record though given two people I would view as equally capable for the role, I'd pick the 100ad player over the 1000ad one. Whilst I wouldn't let it interfere with my decision on who to vote for, it is rather....[the word eludes me]...that Seig and Fang (more Fang than Seig) seem pretty much of the opinion that the world will collapse in on itself if Zen doesn't win. New blood makes the institute sound like vampires, just putting that out there. 'New blood' is good, as are 'old hands', both have been argued, both arguments are perfectly valid, and equal in measure for me. 'New blood' puts fresh energy into an enterprise and another view that might not have been looked at in that way before, but they have to learn how to do it as it's new for them. An 'old hand' can get running with the job as soon as it's theirs, there's no need for a break in period and they can just kick on and continue, but the system (however it is now) will likely remain the same, and some people seem to have issues with how it is now (and certain things previous leaders did). I find it mildly amusing that both sides state that the person they're voting for is organised, active, responsive etc, amusing not because it's not true (I'm fairly certain it is), but just because it implies that the other party is not like that. It'd be like saying "Lightsage is not the son of the devil", you therefore imagine that Zen probably is. Or "Zen handles TK business with lightning speed and never asks for anything in return" implies that Lightsage would either be slow or ask for some form of payment. Might be a bit late to get people to "fix" their previous posts, and at the end of the day, it's their right to convey such - even if it is unintentional, but future voters might want to bear that in mind. Maybe actually put points that are a reason to vote one over the other, rather than stating necessary qualities for the job which they both share. All in all, aside from a single thing, I find them equally viable for the position. The thing it comes down to, or back to, is public interaction en masse - from what I've seen, Zen seems rather lacking in this aspect, whereas Lightsage, I wouldn't say excels, but he's certainly better, and it's certainly something the leader of TKs has to be good at. I vote for Lightsage.

For clarity, do you (and anyone else I misinterpreted) mean you are against the award entirely, or against the change in name?

Any comments from anybody else?

Question, other than speculation, is there anything to suggest that it was meant as insulting? Has anyone insinuated, have you heard any rumours or anything along those lines, to say that it was indeed done as a means of insulting Lib? Granted, that the person who did it hasn't stepped forward and said why they did it, doesn't look good for them, but with the threats/attacks towards this person being throughout the thread, if they are not wanting to confront those, then it may be justified in not coming forward. At the end of the day, the scene that's referred to is a Plain, if there was indeed some RP or other that reflected someone farting a lot and they wanted to add it in a permanent (humorous) way to that scene, or someone wanted to set up a role as a sewage treatment person, who are we to prevent them from doing that? And both of these options, and more, would be perfectly valid reasons for the current scene subtitle. Just because you don't know the reason for the change, doesn't mean that it must be the one that is considered insulting.

Here we'll discuss the various categories for this year's awards. Copied over from last year, below is the list of previous categories to add, remove and change as consensus dictates. I will strike out any that are decided to be removed from the list. New categories are also encouraged, and will get added to the list if there's no/negligible objections to it and multiple people want it included. This is the purpose of the thread, to come up with a final list of categories, remove and add as you decide, I'll just edit the list every so often. There's currently 14 categories, and I'd like to keep it under 15 total, if there's more than that when the thread closes then I'll reduce it to that number myself, so it's in your interests to keep that number down Adventuring Award For the person most dedicated, or who perseveres most at quests. Not necessarily for completing, or winning the most. Best Beautification For the person thought to be the most skilled at art in the realm. Generally speaking this refers to drawing/painting, rather than other forms of art. For the player with the best presented papers. This is a purely objective vote, as every player finds different things nice looking. It also encompasses the player's backstory as presented in their papers. [[color=red]someone please "tidy" this description[/color]] [s]Best Spell Caster For the person most enthusiastic or creative with casting spells - by which it is meant the use itself of them, the words used or another method by which the voter deems appropriate.[/s] Champion Fighter For the person considered to be the best fighter in the realm, this does not necessarily have to be the strongest fighter in the realm, but the one that uses the combat system to the best effect. Elite Evil Villain of the Year For the person who is viewed as being the most villainous over the past year. The voter can interpret this in various ways, including but not limited to; most negative disturbance caused, most times sent to jail, most people peeved off by them, most ingenious/devious plan devised and carried out. Fossil of the year For the player who has been around so long they have turned into a fossil. The player must be visibly active over the past year, and on the veterans list in game. The Golden Protector For the player who is viewed as performing the best in the role of protector(MP6) during the past year. The player does not have to currently be a protector. The voter should take into account the actions of the other protectors in the realm, rather than automatically voting for their own. Best can mean how helpful the protector has been, to how effective they have been in recruiting worshippers, this is at the voters discretion. Helper of the Year For the player deemed to have been the most helpful. This is open to any player, and is not restricted to LHOs. The area of helpfulness the player focusses on can vary, but due to the original focus of the award being to LHOs, it would be implied that the award is based on peoples helpfulness towards newer players. The voter should realise that even though they may not get on with, or have been helped by one of the nominees, this does not mean that the player is not indeed helpful. Most Addicted For the player who just can't leave MD for more than a minute without needing a fix. Most Popular [color=#ff0000][Description Needed][/color] Outstanding Service to MD For the player thought to have done the most to contribute to MD over the year. This can be in any field. Pre-eminent Role Player For the player deemed to Role Play the best. The player does not have to stay in character all the time to win this award (though it may help), rather when they do role play it is to the highest standard - this does usually go in hand with remaining in character. Prime Quest For the player seen as creating the best quest over the past year. Just because a voter did not manage to complete the quest, does not mean it was a bad quest necessarily, the voter is asked to take this into account when voting. Rookie of the year For the player deemed to have made the most progress since they started their account. The player must have created their account since 1st January 2011 (inc) and be between 20 - 365 AD at the time of voting. By progress it is meant a step towards a defined role or position (not necessarily official) within the realm, or integration within the community to a large degree. Top Techie For the person credited as creating the [s]best[/s] most popular MD-scripted event or script. Says /21 players on the vote screen.... Aside from that bit about them not logging in (figured sys would count them as logged in, evidently not), they don't have any land loyalty to count.

Information relating to how the awards will run as it currently stands; - There will be a maximum of 15 categories. - The previous categories will be listed in a thread, and players can then argue for different ones to be added/removed - if players agree, then it will be so. - Certain categories have relevant restrictions on them, these can be changed/created/removed, but only prior to nominations opening. - There will be 3 people counting votes and organising this. These people will not be able to be nominated, however they are able to vote. - You may not nominate those who belong to the same land as yourself (this not only means hard-coded, but also those people considered part of certain lands).
