Question answered. Closed

actually i wouldnt like that as i would really like to know if an old friend comes back to MD. But something needs to be done so that adepts are slightly easier to see.
-
hmm seems nice and friendly. Yes when a burst is used fights are erased from the system. From both sides. So logs dont appear after someone has used a burst.
-
Just a few Problems that i see 1. extra load on the server 2. Spam sent out from MD 3. Would you be able to see their email addresses? 4. If you cant keep track of your adepts why spam them? 5. annoyance due to spam recieved when they left for a good reason You have to weigh up the pros of being able to spam all adept and these cons.
-
Well its not so surprising. The people who dont fit the persona or the game. Roleplaying and attacking. Many people will get to around mp4 or maybe 5 before they truly get into the games concept. Many people who do not fit this pattern will just leave. and so this is the bunch of people.
-
Tis a strange Mashup of a bug. Sorry but you will just have to wait. Mur will get back and then he should be able to fix your rather intresting problem.
-
Could it be a messup with the Profile-ing system, Storymode and someone having put him into Dream mode? Not sure why he should be in dream mode but it certainly looks like it from Screenshot 1 Anyone else got any thoughts on this?
-
The endless question of When is Ch3 going to be compleated was first around when people first got to it. It has been like it is today since the first Days of magicduel years ago. Now Mur is thinking that the story doesnt fit in now with Magicduel and it outdated because of what has happened. If he continues with this thinking he will most definately remove it from the game at all. But then again he may continue with it and get someone to finish the story. Mur only knows the answer to this.
-
On 3. Mur picks the rpcs and normally rpcs recommend new rpcs. This is based on Role playing and other such things.
DOWN WITH THE COMMUNISTS !!
*cough* Mur *cough* im going to run now But please try and stay on topic this issue is about Firs taking over GOTR not about anything that happened previously EDIT: just a little clarification here (so mur doesnt read this and think things) Mur is like a communist as he runs everything and things change as he wants them to
(just wanted to add that i love how people's private issues with each other seem to end up on the forum these days, please don't let yourself be stopped by someone as small as me... keep it up, i want to have some fun when i browse through the forums tomorrow^^)
because these are not private issues. they are to do with LR which is MD. Just because it has to do with a few characters it actually effects a whole land.
I guess since there's no official record of a transfer of power, then it never happened, right Akasha? Or do the Guardians of the Root even exist anymore? I'm still not straight on that... care to enlighten everyone? Oh, also, if Firsanthalas is the new leader, when does the stalking and harassment begin for him? Does he get a grace period of a few days before the constant earfocusing and forum attacks start or does that begin now? I just want to know how to properly treat the leader of Loreroot.
Nice post Glor. perhaps you need a sarcasm warning on that I Propose a simple contest that every lorerootian will be able to vote for regardless of position or place. If you put the contest on the forum you can A) make sure that no one will have cheated and B) this will be an offical thing that has documentation on the forum. If you wish me to do this then it will be a few days and i will speak with you. But i dont think that because you have said "most people" have said to you that they support you. I should rule MD since most people think i should. No offence but the general word "most" has been used too much lately.

This wont be implemented as lightsage said. Friendslist allows you to pm people you have made as your friend but this would allow pms to everyone. Which will make the messaging system pointless where people cannot enter in a username to pm. Unless you put a flood control on it (1 adept change per day/week) then it definately wont be implemented but still with a control its abusable. So if anyone wants to add anything please think of ways that this could be implemented without harming the current system

No ok thats fine. its just nice to know how leadership is chosen.
-
I dont mean to insult anyone (which means it probably is insulting) but who appointed you? I assume Amoran said that you should take over?
-
1. No ctc would be a burden for both the player and Mur since that would require another colmn and also more code. Slowing down the database. 2. It all really depends on what the prise if and how often the contest goes on for. To an older player a pimped and 10 coins wouldnt be much but for a new player who is over the requirements it may be an incentive. 3. as a point on 1. i think that you should try and get this going without the help or Mur. As an example of you doing something without him. If the first contest can be done without Mur then all the rest can. There have been several things where when Mur hasnt had a hand in them they have flopped.

most of the time they are and they were in this instance
Chewett you sound so proud of your self
I do not want people from the UK to be accused of being a "chewett alt" That is because being called a chewett will be an insult to their good character.
Chewett: you might be able to fool me and have the time and intent to win the contest, but for every person that meets those conditions, there will be a lot of people that don't. And even if there were, they'd have to compete with each other. imo The sad part would be that the alts' stories are wasted if those characters are abandoned after the contest. However, if they are maintained and cared for, although not furthering the goal of this contest, it will still benefit MD.
hmm now you mention it i dont have the time. But the same thing applies. If i did have the time ... And if i can do it anyone can. it depends on the rewards. If they are big enough people will try. There will need to be balance between good prizes and things that are easily attainable. Also most people in that age range still learning the game. Unless they specifically know about the competition and/or learn to make a role then it will be poorly entered. Most people in their age range now barely know how to properly fight. It will be a big change if you can Make roleplayers of these new players but i will most definately encourage you.
Alts: it takes a lot of work to make an original character and write a background story. This is true even more if you are an adept writer because you will never be satisfied with your work. "For every sentence I kept, I have thrown away at least one page of writing." (don't remember which writer said that) No matter how good you think you are, there are no guarantees to win and there aren't any retries either. And there is a chance people will notice your style. The only reason people will try it against all odds, would be that they have too many active days to participate and too much time. I'd propose a side contest with a smaller reward, for older players/alts... but it'd be silly to have good character designs go to waste after the contest is over.
If i am going to speak for myself then i would most definately make an alt and Rp him. This would be mainly for the reward. But because i rarely Rp as Chewett and none of you have found out some of my better alts (no not Chewett the Noob) then i would say i would be able to give a good go at this competition
I also suggest having the candidates sign up for this and have them idle in a designated place, especially if you use a small amount of judges. Timezones make it hard to read everybody's papers.
Perhaps they could not blank their personal page? Then they would be able to see it on their profile?
Hold the contest every six to eight weeks. This may mean lowering the awarded sums or changing the award itself. However, this would give new people incentive to become creative and work toward integrating themselves into the world in which we play.
Would it become too devauled if it was this often? Then many people would get an award. How long can this go on for? It would give me much more chance to win or place.
Established characters as judges who are not RPCs. There are many who are very active in this world, who are well known, and who play their characters exceedingly well. These are the people who you would want to judge the stories and papers of others. I would suggest staying away from those who have been established as RPCs only because they have other duties to which they are to be devoting their time. Characters such as Keith Moon, Awiiya, Innocence, Willem Redbeard, and Firsanthalas are the some of the best. These would be the kinds of people to approach to judge others.
Im sure (and i only speak of my knowing some rpcs) that some of them would like to judge a contest like this. Some of the best role players are rpcs. But not all of the rpcs are good roleplayers *cough* me *cough*
Public displays. Those who have been nominated for this contest should have portions, if not all, of their papers viewable by the public. This could be having everything displayed on their personal page or opening a topic on the forum that would allow them to post something about themselves along with selected sections of their papers. A limit would be called for, however, as you would not want all contestants to use 50,000 or more characters. In this case, a forum post should be short and simple. Paper length, of course, would be up to the discretion of the individual.
Again i say that all their papers should be on public displey on their public page. It would be so much easier to get rid of the problem of timezones.
Multiple criteria for judging. As you have already noted, there should be several categories to aid in the selection of a winner. Consider participation in the world as one. This might discourage alternate accounts, though nothing is certain. If one has to be active in the world to be considered for this award, it would reduce the likelihood of someone creating an interesting story and then sitting around in a sanctuary, hoping to get noticed. Otherwise, you have already mentioned several other criteria which should be evaluated.
It wouldnt discourage a person who wants the reward really. only some of the people who would like it. Have you even seen Chewett in game? Really? I dont really play Chewett as i prefere obscurity. Its intresting to see how people treat a nobody. BTW: if you are trying to work out my alts i use proxies. Most of them are from the US but at least one is from romania

Isnt this just a step in between pwr and Rpc? not that that is a bad thing. Several problems i see. Quality of english will be key in addition to how you play your role. Also what do you propose to do about alts? It would be very easy to create an alt and ship the reward back to my main. Also how do you propose to judge this? is it in addition to the rpc's that Mur makes and the rewards that he gives out? This isnt a criticizm but some ideas for you to consider
-
Tom. You have to move MD into accomdating your alliance, Cryxus has been waiting a long time and of all the alliance ideas his is one of the best. He is even now an rpc but his alliance has still not been created In other words if you really want to get an alliance you need a following and Prove you can do what your alliance sets out to do even without an alliance. When you dont need an alliance to do what you do but you still do it then you will get one. As Cryxus said this isnt to discourage you but you need to do a lot more than just get a few members and write a post on the forum Try getting more members and holding a rally of some kind in game and start roleplaying your alliance.
-
Plainly and simply it doesnt work. a Bug.
-
Yes he said he wanted crits in a previous post but that had to be deleted for certain reasons
-
No alliances are being created at the moment. Only alliances that have a purpose before being an alliance will be created ie bank together a group of people and you may get an alliance if it is deemed useful

The creature page doesnt shows in the slide bar
Chewett replied to feanor x's topic in Resolved Bugs
ok. i know exatly what is wrong so a fix should be done asap. -
are you sure some of the rewards arnt too high? i was thinking of the creatures (because i have a lot of creatures) and the increase in vitality and value points. Also would the effects stack? because i would think that the effects shouldnt so you couldnt be to overpowered Currency needs to be used up and this may be a way to do it
