Chewett

Eggdar was a strange fellow. For the past few months he had been seen with growing regularity around the realm, always trailing his master the Demon. However, today he was seen without him. Death Ray, unlike many of the more cautious people around him, decided to try to befriend Eggdar. With some effort, he eventually tracked him down near Sages Keep. Initially, Eggdar spoke in riddles, mumbling about cosmic balance, tokens and credits, but after some senseless babbling, Death Ray got him to focus on the present, the magnificent Keep at the centre of Marind Bell. Death Ray decided to explain a little about the work he was doing with CARD, the misery inflicted by the depleters, and what he hoped to achieve. Although the bemused expression on Eggdar’s face suggested he hadn’t understood, Eggdar barked out “Let’s make a garden” shocking Death Ray somewhat. For a moment, Death Ray stood there looking at Eggdar, trying to work out what that meant, before Eggdar trudged off along the side of Sages Keep. While it was obvious that there was land behind the Keep, Death Ray had never felt the need to explore it, expecting to find little more than the back of the building. Suddenly, a flash of light appeared from where Eggdar had disappeared to. Fearing that he would be held responsible for damage done to the Keep, he quickly ran over towards the back of the Keep. While Death Ray has previously had no reason to look around the back of the Keep, he had the distinct impression this area had not existed before. A small walled area had appeared, with a pile of lumber lying within its confines. In the distance, the shores of Marind Bell’s lake met the edge of this seemingly new wall. The air tasted of iron, a typical sensation when magic had been used in great quantities. Something was definitely going on, Death Ray mused. In the moment it took to look back towards the Keep, another flash seared his eyes. Once his vision recovered, the pile of lumber had become a shed and the land hemmed in by the stone wall had become beds of soil ready for planting. Death Ray knew Eggdar had done this, but he wasn’t entirely sure why. He thanked him and said that CARD would work to improve this land and hopefully, one day, replenish the wider realm. Eggdar looked at Death Ray with his usual vacant expression and quietly said, “Something for you”. Turning back towards the lake, Death Ray saw that a small chair had appeared, complete with a fishing rod. Turning back to thank Eggdar, Death Ray saw he was already gone. Death Ray did not know why Eggdar had done what he had done, but he was thankful regardless. The work would help CARD and the wider realm. Now the hard work could begin.

If you spend any time engaging with my posts you would see that it’s not as simple as Fang is claiming. If you wanted to help you could provide some thoughts, ask questions, learn why I’m struggling to get the values (see above). Instead you are just downvoting and trolling. Everyone can see your vitriol towards me. If you want to be a abusive towards me, fine, but you aren’t helping MagicDuel make things better. And it’s crystal clear you aren’t “trying to be friendly” towards me.

I have found that, regularly, a singular action of a specific evo line, doesn’t always give me a “mark” towards it. I can see I gained value, but it wasn’t tracked as far as I can tell. Maybe a feature request for @Muratus del Mur is to make it show you which evo lines counted for the day? I also seem to load up my evo page, it claims I gained X. I then close it and reopen it and it claims I gained X again? I would expect it only to show the changes since I last opened it, does it do that for anyone else?

The warning could no longer wait. Chewett hurried back towards Golemus after contacting Fang, telling him that they needed to speak urgently. Once Fang had morphed back into his humanoid form Chewett explained why he had come, a group of people intended to descend on Golemus and sap the land dry. Fang’s answer was immediate. He was no friend of depletion, and given the means, would gladly help prevent it. Yet defending an entire land required more than good intentions. What could a mining blacksmith, however determined, truly do against those determined to strip the realm bare? Chewett admitted there were several options, if its members joined together they could resist them where possible. Many of the group already had already planned spells and traps for the depleters, alongside refusing to trade with or help them. However, trusting the Phoenix as never before, Chewett decided he would share the true secret behind CARD. Taking out his CARD-branded notebook, for good stationery was critical to any resistance group, Chewett wrote a small note. Tearing the page out, he passed it to Fang. A Cheshire smile slowly spread across his face. Whatever had been written there would remain between them. Fang remarked that maybe they could “Dream a better Dream”. The revelation of the group’s real purpose gave him ideas of his own. He promised to contact Chewett at a later date, a promise he would eventually keep. They might not be able to stop the depleters, but perhaps they could direct the outcome. Before taking flight, Fang made another offer. If the realm needed equipment repaired, he wished to put his skills as a blacksmith to use once more. Any reward earned from the work could be put back into the realm. Fang bowed, spread his wings, and disappeared into the distance. Chewett remained on the mountain staring after him wondering about his new alliance with Fang. It was a strange new beginning after their darker past.

I'm going to be away for a week and a bit, don't expect any replies or action while I'm away, internet is likely to be incredibly limited and I intend to spend the time with my family.

I need four different evo categories and unfortunately that is not as quick as you imagine. If we want to keep it as it is, that's fine, but I'm not sure the demoralising effect is good. If your account is "frozen" then I'm not sure there is value. I wouldn't keep consecutive active days but lose all my primordials. Primordials can be cared for quite quickly, gathering all the evo points needed to keep my considerable streak is not easy on very limited internet. Maybe the answer is actually just "lose it chewett, free yourself from MD"

Alas Aksel is not on the forum to defend himself. I'm away so others feel free to update the totals as you seem fit. CARD is a collaborative effort, It should not be run by one person.

Having some way to pause your evo gain/consecutive day gain/etc to ensure your streak isn't lost when you can't log in for a period of time/holiday Why this is important Your consecutive active days is now tied into many factors in MagicDuel, one of the key areas being Active Days Losing your streak and becoming stuck is becoming a more common affair (see @Sunfire ) For people who literally won't be able to log in, I feel penalising their lost active days is unfair Previously I could find somewhere with internet, an internet cafe, and log in. But now I would need to spend 30 minutes doing lots of stuff for my active days to count, now this is more problematic Being able to pause it for a week or two, with some negative affects, seems fair especially when you know you wouldn't be able to log in. It will be incredibly disappointing if I lose my streak (which previously just required logging in) but now requires a lot more effort. I'm likely to be without phone signal for a period of time, and even logging in would be tricky, even more so gathering evo points. Maybe the community's response is "deal with it" but I would hope the community are kinder than that.

Jakubhi decided that enough was enough. By carefully observing the pattern of depletion, he had concluded that Ledah was using night mode to move unseen through the lands. The trail of devastation led him to the Archives for what would become their first showdown. Standing outside the Archives building, Jakubhi called out across the deserted grassland “Show yourself, dark demon, you creature of night!”. Seemingly from everywhere around him, a voice confidently declared “I am not here”. Acting quickly on Ledah’s mistake, Jakubhi cast movelock, pinning Ledah in place. While he could not see him, he was now certain Ledah was close by. Ledah laughed at the attempt and continued his taunting, warning Jakubhi that he could dispel the movelock whenever he wanted. It would be folly to challenge Ledah to a straight fight, he was known both as a strong warrior and a trickster. Instead, Jakubhi had another plan. Jakubhi stood confidently looking towards the place he believed Ledah to be and offered a simple game of dice. Best of three, the highest total would take each round. Ledah agreed not to gather water for an entire day if Jakubhi won, however demanded pure gold should he prevail. Grimacing, Jakubhi accepted, knowing that stopping the depletion mattered more than his gold. The first round went to Ledah, who threw a far superior 6,5 over Jakubhi’s 6,3. Unfortunately, while Ledah’s faults were many, an inability to add two numbers together was not among them. Fate changed in the second round, with Jakubhi throwing 5,4 and Ledah rolling 4,1. While Ledah cried foul and claimed trickery, both knew the dice were fair. Tied at one round each, Jakubhi knew he had to trust in the heart of the dice. While Ledah mocked him for being a librarian he confidently threw the dice. Both came up sixes. Ledah again protested that the dice were enchanted, but threw them anyway, finally rolling 5,2. Jakubhi took the moment to gloat, proclaiming that the Green CARD had claimed it’s victory and promising that he would meet Ledah again for another battle. However, ever the trickster, Ledah left Jakubhi something to remember him by, an enfeebling curse, before sulking off in defeat.

This seems sensible. I raised 3 as being an issue previously but didn't have a good solution, I think this is sensible

In playercreatures there is a column no_sacrifice which stops a creature being able to be sacraficed. This was set to all anni creatures and could not be changed by the user. See: https://magicduel.com/page/Announcement/view/5620 The intention was to: Enable users to mark their own creatures as "non sacraficable" Consider whether we still force some creatures as "never sacrafice"

As Chewett strode the lands watching for depletion he found himself high in the mountains of Golemus. Here he found Fang Archbane hard at work in the rain, carefully mining the rock. Their history, to Chewett’s shame, had not always been an easy one, so he approached Fang carefully, offering an apology for old grievances. It was not just an apology, but an expression of hope that they could put that behind them and move forward together. Fang accepted the gesture in his own way, saying that words alone could not express how he felt but that he hoped his actions would show that there was no ill will between them anymore. This made Chewett smile slightly, for a moment almost forgetting why he was there. As the rain continued to fall, the two spoke more openly than they had in many years. Fang remarked that, after his long absence, he simply wished to care for his land of Golemus. His focus was his old passion for mining, alongside tending the land and spending time among the mountains. Lightning forked the sky, causing a brief pause in their discussion. As Chewett looked to the sky, he wondered whether these changes were natural. Never had the realm been troubled by such a long period of stormy weather. Fang had noticed the changes too. He warned that the persistent downpours could make the mountain increasingly unstable. Then, with a rather suspicious smile, he stated that nobody would want whatever lay beneath the mountain getting loose. Chewett decided not to pry further into this comment, however, he made a note to investigate the matter in the future.

Chewett’s travels next brought him into the company of Sunfire, a prominent envoy of Loreroot. Sunfire confided in Chewett that while his Queen was away he wanted to protect the forest as best he could. The meeting however was a welcome change from accusations and whispered talk of depletion. Here was a representative of another land, willing to speak openly, exchange news, and hear what CARD had been attempting to uncover. The pair reminisced about the times they plotted to evict the demon from the Lands of the East, and while that plot eventually fizzled out, they enjoyed themselves immensely. Perhaps that was something to resume once the depletion had been dealt with… While Sunfire did not directly pledge loyalty to CARD, he was keen to see what could be done to reduce depletion in the land he called home. As a final remark, Chewett quietly suggested that maybe Loreroot could benefit from a transitional monarch, someone to rule in place of a currently lost Queen, leaving Sunfire to ponder. As he continued to wander the land, the conversations took on a more convivial tone when Sir Blut of the SoE appeared bearing a gift. His home grown bottle of bushie wine was presented in recognition of Chewett’s work with CARD. For a brief while talk of depleters and darker schemes was set aside in favour of enjoying the company. Clouds filled the sky causing Chewett to remark to Sir Blut that the weather had been unusually tempestuous of late. The greying world brought darker thoughts, Chewett was reminded that if depletion continued, the fine wines would stop. More determined than ever he started his march towards Golemus to observe the weather from a higher vantage point.

@Ledah and I were discussing this but it's my view (and possibly his) that the heat fed to Primordials are affecting them too much. It's causing most of them to end up with fire/stream and probably biasing the process too much. Even creatures which haven't had anything "heat" related (as far as I have spoken to people) are getting fire shown on their primordials. It's possible that future primodials heat should be removed, optional, or made to affect the system less? Thoughts @Muratus del Mur ?

Ledah had walked the lands for many years, straying into some of the darkest places and returning changed. One of the things he learnt was to channel the darker magics of the world, today he would put that to a use, however whether good or bad it would be up to the reader. Unknown by Chewett the Gazebo of Chaos was the perfect place for Ledah to channel these darker powers. A punishment became a mistake. Ledah stood in the centre, pinned by Chewett’s spell, and begun chanting. Here, stretching out to the five pillars of the Gazebo, he pulled together the ancient teleportation magic and perverted it. Instead of sending his body to another place it was used to resurrect his thoughts in another body. A long dead figure stirred on the Gateway Island, filled with vitriolic hate towards CARD. All it knew is that it must deplete as much as it good. Fumbling around the land it grabbed the nearest tools and begun to deplete the land. The punishment of Ledah became a greater threat, the depletion of the Gateway.

That should just need adding a button to the page, it's already implemented on the backend for certain creatures
