  1. I can not get angry on you, MD population, because your actions are a mirror of my actions. If you fail to do something, it is because i have failed to provide a path for that something to happen. I understand that A25 team is overwhelmed by the amount of changes that happened recently...that i can fully understand, even if it makes me absolutely sad and depressed to see major features getting ignored entirely, not even a little feedback... but i understand where i failed with that... so i can live with it.

I will probably need to slow things down, present important stuff better, not in a technical way but in applied and documented examples ..i get it... but in my excuse i have to say that the amount of effort to do that is a couple of times more than i need to code those features, and doing it alone, code, documentation, examples, quest implementation...its ..well.. too much. The only thing i could do for now was to continue making improvements, documenting hundreds of features, and so on, without flooding the announcements with what i did. I start to get the feeling that too many announcements was what made most of you ignore the entire thing.

What i am really angry on, is the MD land weapon. I don't care about it so much anymore, so i can spoil things a bit (warning). It was designed for team work. You got all the details, tested and functional, you even got copy/paste spell words, and stupid-proof clues, but you are not told a single thing, namely, that you need to assemble a team to make it functional. It is not told, but its is damn obvious. If you follow the clues, there is no other way to do it but to do it in a team. You all play solitary even if you pretend you are not. If i give you one thing, you expect it to be for you, and if its a group effort, you let others do the first step, wait and see what happens. I am so angry on this ignorance. Yes, i am judging all, and probably this is totally unfair, i know, but in the end, i don't know any of you that at least tried to get something organized to complete this challenge. How else could i feel when a major thing in the realm, that is the outcome of years of code that finally came together, is completely ignored, or superficially tried.

There was no reward at the end, and that was on purpose. I wanted something so powerful not to be motivated by a selfish reward, but by a more elevated thing, a thing that the md community once knew to value... knowledge. I remember the times when land wars happened without the benefits of a coded and flexible land weapon, and it was more fun than now. I continue to dream of a md realm that is open to anyone that follows the clues. It is far from being that kind of realm, but in the past couple of years it got incredibly closer to that concept.... but the md people remained stuck.... and i don't know how to unstuck you.

This will eventually fix itself probably. Having really motivated and passionate people with access to A25 (that btw is easy to get by anyone passionate about it enough), things i code now will slowly be discovered and put to good use at some point. I know i am unfair to expect a reaction to things i do "now" but require probably months if not years to be properly integrated... but i also think its fair to you to know how i feel about all this... because knowing this will explain my next actions.

I had a wrong image of how the relation me/chew towards md population is. I imagined a sort of partnership between me and you, i do what i do best, create tools, code, and you enjoy using these, put them to good use. I was delusional. The way things work are that i/chew code, A25 plays with the results of this coding, and the rest should be kept in the dark and provided only the path to the candy.

I will start to shut down, care less, do more drastic changes without much explaining to anyone that is not directly involved with development.

I will start by doing the next major things in md un announced. If you feel you care about md, or consider yourself a veteran, or an active youngling, be advised, i am turning you all in fossils but at the same time i will open the path for anyone that really cares, through actions and involvement, to do and achieve a lot more. You are used now to be told what doors get open, and you are so lazy that you don't even visit those doors announced open... well this is hurting me, so i will start opening doors only for those that look for them, not for those that expect md to be revealed in the daily morning newspaper.

  2. I would really like to see item spells other than kill, bringin and chase. Its really boring to see these asked for over and over again, you fail to understand that not being able to do these specific things easy, is part of what puts things in motion. I don't mind having an other kill item, if its done in a way that really makes sense, like for example mixing together player named rp items with something fancy like cause fights. In other words, several players attack AND DEFEAT a third player, and then use an item with his name on it, like a drop of blood, to kill him ..that would be OK, ..why are you so lazy to think one step ahead and ask something really nice, and you get stuck asking the usual 'kill','summon' bla bla.

On 6/17/2022 at 11:23 AM, Valoryn said:

A "Mulled Wine" common RP item could get the barfight spell.

its a bit of a stretch, the item is about the wine, not the bottle that could be used for a fight. I am open to make all bottles and bar items able to start a bar fight, if anyone asks with a specific item as initial sample.

If nobody asks, i will leave it untouched and maybe one day in the future an other use will fit in this place.

  3. I got about 100 spells documented, i will continue next time. Kyphis contact me about these when you can, you need access to the docs, if you want to (i dont know if you want since you did not reply anything yet). If i hijacked your topic and you don't intend to help with it, its ok, just let me know. I realize it might be too much.

  4. bringin and chase spells, and other admin spells will not be added to items , except if you have an item that is incredibly well suited to such a spell, via its name or description.
As i promised long ago, and i keep to promises, items description equivalete reality, so whatever the item name or description said, if that functionality is available, it will do that.

Items like "big red button" could be used for "emergency meeting" but this is just a possible use, the button could very well do other things, it is not bound to such a function, and since such a function is admin stuff, it will not do that. I will keep an open mind to allow it one time use of a massive summon spell or something, ..i am not sure if a one time use will be a problem or not.

Other items like "secret ingredient" could have a better use as a wildcard item in cauldron mixers.
Many items suggested here, like "super glue","Smoke grenade", etc , do not exist, so PLEASE only suggest items that do exist ONLY

Going through the replies so far, i could pick only these possible enhancements:

Blue Silk Boxer Shorts - boostbriskness

  5. DO NOT POST ON THIS TOPIC UNLESS YOU GOT CONFIRMATION FROM HERE THAT YOU CAN:

What i am interested in, are EXISTING ITEMS that could be turned into magical items, based on spells that are already existing.

Currently there are 165 different KINDS of spells (i will not code any new unless i find it interesting myself, not on request). Some of these kinds, are configurable into lots of other subversions, other spells are completely unique, but still there are more spell kinds than players.

So if you have an item that looks as if made for a specific , existing, spell, discuss it on @Kyphis the Bard topic, then post it here in the requested format. Any item is accepted, regardless if its common, shop roleplay item, rare, tool, already functional, etc,  any item goes. Shared items need a special treatment and suggestions involving shared items will be analyzed later.

    THE RULES

I will keep turning normal items into magical items until i stop and get busy with something else. This is a one time event, probably a later role opportunity, or a major md feature, i don't know. Once i stop, you will notice, or i will close this thread. First people posting are more likely to get their items done.

    - If you post items that are based on spells that are non existing, or the spell exists but the item doesn't, or you provide the wrong format, or suggest new spells or functionality, they will be rejected and you will be blacklisted from this post (all future items posted by you here get ignored)

    - You may only post items that you currently have in your inventory. If i look for the item by item name and your id and can't find it, you get blacklisted from this topic.

    - Items will be granted a limited number of casts. The item remains "depleted magical" once consumed, this will not affect whatever the item functionality currently is, and still has a chance to benefit from later ways of recharging magical items later.

    - you will not be asked, and i will not reply to your post if anything does not fit or is unacceptable. Instead, i will mark your post as denied or approved and continue to the next one. Anything that is not clear or you wish to discuss, please post on Kyph topic for clarification, but be advised he does not know more than you do about the subject currently. I will reply there if needed, and update him accordingly.

    THE FORMAT

Post only in this format, anything else you post, or any question you post, you get blacklisted. Use the other topic for this.

    Item name:
    Item ID:
    Your ID:
Current functionality: Current functionality if the item is a tool or otherwise functional
Spell: (ask for the correct spell name and available options on the other topic, Kyph will be able to help you identify it)
Number of casts: Suggested minimal number of casts and why ("because its cool to have" is a valid answer too, but more sustained arguments can help creating an item with a higher number of casts)
Casting words: These words will be required to be spoken in chat to cast the spell, and unlike spells you currently own, they can not be customized. If two people suggest same item, the one with better casting words (according to my own opinion), will be selected. Keep it clear, themed, nicely formulated, and without punctuation dependent meaning.

  6. you read my mind :)) i was about to post something similar.

then i will focus on documenting the spells properly and build auxiliary tools for this feature, because there are plenty that are needed, and you can help filter the info in this topic.

I will create an other topic where the results of this topic should be posted, like this i can skip reading too much, and i can make some items magical.

I will post the link shortly

  7. The domain magic.re was finally recovered, after such a long time. Considering the trouble i went through with it, and how uncertain things are with this extension , i am not confident enough to move forum back to it. Instead, magic.re redirects to the forum, in case anyone finds it easier to use it than the current one.

I am not sure what plans i have with this domain on the long term, maybe sell it, or use it for other purpose, or keep it for the forum, i don't know. If i find a more trust worthy registrar for it i will try to move the forum to it again, but right now, no.

  8. Ok ... this deserves a detailed answer, to clear things, for everyone, i hope.

This reply is equally valuable to those receiving wps, but also to those giving wps... see it as something to learn from

First impression when i heard this, was... "close the gates, hide the buttons, Fyrd has gone crazy"... :) but obviously its not so.

But..there is zero indication of recklessness in his decision, he was entitled to give wp for whatever he considered fit (in the hope he will follow my guidelines regarding this), and it was nothing suspicious or hidden in his actions. In this case, we need to think things more and at least try to understand the reasons.

When someone gets the ability to give wishpoints..it is EARNED. This also means that I trust that person's judgement to use wishpoints to shape activity in md, but also shape the value system overall.

What is the ultimate purpose of wishpoints in md? It is to unlock the most powerful things. They are the most potent attractors, but also a way of confirming ones involvement and overall achievement in MD. Wishpoints and medals are probably the highest form of acknowledgement, its MD's way of telling "you are awesome".

Because of this, they need to be treated wisely. It is not good and absolutely not healthy to the community to keep wps just something given for impossibly difficult tasks, but also we must not give them for trivial zero difficulty activities. It takes time to understand where wp place is in MD's balance, but an easy way to see it is this "Wishpoints need to be special".

Let me present you this situation from a different perspective too... lets put things in a balance:

    The good

    - This wp managed to put things in motion, get people active on a dead topic, and revive a one year old quest. Of course a wp would have revived anything an anyone, anytime, its their side effect, but doing this without falling in the pitfalls of favoritism or risking to be lame, its difficult. This particular use was bordering the symbolic, not the abuse, at least in my view.

    - I am happy that he remembered what i said about balancing easy wp vs difficult wp. There is a tendency to make a mix and keep things 'moderate', or even to forget to give an easy wp once a year or so, instead doing just difficult wp quests. I think about 25% of wps should be easy to get, but still SPECIAL, not trivial. To balance those wp's i give a a lifetime of hard work, just one symbolic wp.... its a balance

    The bad:

    - Giving a wp for crumbling a piece of paper, is certainly NOT what i had in mind when thinking of this wp system. Old players would turn in their abandoned accounts if hearing a wp was given for this. I think Fyrd failed at presenting his decision the way it deserved to be presented, but then again, maybe he considered he is not supposed to offer such explaining.

    - The really bad is that this filled up the need for super easy wp for the entire year, but offered a wp to someone that could have earned a difficult one instead, missing to give an easy wp to someone with less potential, to solidify the community better.

    and the ugly:

    - It looks to me that the winner of the wp did not participate to actually win it, so the wp reward was kind of a stretch to conclude the quest. I am not sure if this is good or bad yet, but it is ugly. I can't think of an other way to do this to avoid it being ugly, so i might have done the same.

    - we, those that can reward wp or code a wp reward in a25, must find it easier to decide when to leave a wp quest without a wp reward. Having no one left to reward does not mean that person should get it all, at least not when it comes to wp...other rewards maybe.

Wishpoints should be given for a wide a range of opportunities. Its important to avoid giving wp just for the most elaborate and difficult to solve puzzles, same as it is important not to give wp just for too trivial things such as this one. There is room for these extremes however.

I think Fyrd managed to play with fire successfully and give a wp that was so absurdly trivial that it was special. By doing this he completed the balance of "easy to get" vs "impossible to get" wishpoints. I am sure he will not follow this by an other easy wp, and that giving a wp for the 'crumbled piece of paper' was a premeditated and well planned act.

That being said, this wp will not be confiscated (in case anyone wished that).  One thing i would like to remark about this, is that next time one gives an easy wp to someone, should make it less possible to achieve it fast, and less out of desperate need of finding a winner no matter what.

  9. I learned that people have behaviour patterns, that lead to situations they can never get out, or are doomed to repeat over and over. These patterns are rooted deep in their past, sometimes its not even them that caused the reason for their patters, but it was their anchesters.

I discovered this about others, just to realize my patters later. Its very hard to see something about your own self, because you have to face a truth you can't admit. It is much easier to see it on others.

The challenge was to be able to think truthfully enough about myself, to notice these patters and admit them, understand them. Its one thing to realize them once, and an other thing to live with the awareness of them constantly.

If you think fast about something that might be a pattern in your existance, its easy to come up with several answers, but thats just the internal defence telling you things you can accept thinking, its not always the truth.

Its easy to think of your flaws like "I am too good to people that hurt me"...or this kind of miss europa kind of shit, but its really really hard to think of yourself as "i am too chicken to change my partner, so i imagine that i like him/her"..or "i'm just plain ugly, not a special kind of beauty" kind of things, without imediately finding justification for the bad things.

I won't detail my 'things', ofc these are personal, but they are there, like in anybody else... and most of the time its a constant challenge to be honest with yourself.

What i could tell others about this, is that you should consider this a constant journey. You build something, in yourself, and every time you are honest with yourself you add an other brick. The real challange is that most of the time you realize that this construction started long ago, before you decided to be honest with yourself, and now you have to deal with design elements you can no longer change. From this point forward, its a lot one could say..but its offtopic here :)

  10. Dev edition - will probably be reset later when complete

This is how it is supposed to work:

Santa in slot 6 gets attack based on how healthy the caster is and how many kills the santa has. Santa has obviously no kills, and also has nothing to do with the attack as it can not attack.. but the attack bonus will become meaningful when an other shard will really piss off Santa and make him viciously attack. Targeting slot 6 makes it possible to use all other crits to place enhancements and modify behaviour of this slot. Using slot 6 because if crits attack in order, 6 will be last,  but you can use any slot when creating shards.

Of course, the caster crit gets marked as Sinner for a number of fights, and sinners might later be exceptionally vulnerable to certain crits.

I plan for several Santa related abilities in a series, to have the first set of shard abilities meant to be used as a sort of set.

The plan is to add countering effects for every powerful shard created. Using sinner mark might be a good way to mark overpowered or not so natural abilities like making a healer do damage. Later on i can do overpowered abilities to affect sinner marks, to balance all the things that cause the mark to be set.

Known issues: log is confusing, sinner mark is not yet set, the code only once, probably the shards are currently completely broken.

Note: Problem with the formula calculations if using npctalk vars (not needed here), because when not set the noctalk vars are just empty fields, not zero.

Let me know what you think, if you tested it, anything

  11. I must say the print in this picture is nothing compared to the details on the 3d model, really really well done.

We made a deal me and Seigheart, he gets to print and sell the models of the md world he creates (i understand there are more to come), and MD gets to use these models in any way we need. I am thinking how many people in this community have access to a 3d printer, or at least how many would be motivated by a quest that involves learning 3d editing and/or printing.

Over the years many people learned stuff due to MD that helped them later in life, why not 3d skills. ..I have to think about this well, my response will be proportional to Seigh's involvement, its up to him if this remains just with this awesome drach model, or expands into something else. I will be open to future collaboration.

If someone can bring a skill he has in RL and use it in MD, i will always support it. This quest was about getting you to DO something, and make you understand that this rare creature can be obtained if YOU create it, with your own efforts, and in your own way, because in life, only your own way is important and you must learn that the things you do and put passion into, have power and create your reality. I am seriously thinking of extending this "build yourself" quest to a majority of things in md, but i will think about it some more. Opinions about this from all of you are welcome, send me PM, lets not flood this topic.
