ey, i'm trying to bring up constructive critics whereever i can, but if i don't see light at the end of the tunnel for an idea, i might as well say that straight away, shoudln't i? and i stated a different suggestion, too... and well, yep, you consider my RP non-existant, but for me, grinding is for defining my role as warrior, activity for my role as zen-master and constant chatting and idea-crafting my philosophical side... just because my role is too complex for you to see it's full extent, it doesn't mean it's not there, Watcher =P b2t: classes could be nice, yes, but STATIC classes are not... not everybody wants a shallow role as simple healing entity or basic damager, a whole lot of the older players who are still around are trying to explore their limits on every sector, and not be pushed into a class and rot there now you could say that i'm selfish [which would totally be true =P], but i don't see this game as a matter of 3 months and then being done with it, like soooo many pother games, but a real long-term game, and frustrating people with taking all their options to grow off them won't make it long-term fun... it would just create a feeling that the casual gamer can reach everything he wants in 6 months, and then leave to never return so, i'm still fighting for a dynamic system of classes, creating fighting-heal-paladins [call it as you wish] who can actually increase their powers til they reach the cap of every 'skill tree'... if you want to introduce spells to the standard no-name player, do it for real, or you'll force people to create 3 alts to get one acc in every class and help themselves with every power they want... and those are the players who are NOT chatting and being active and stuff, because really active players do real activity with every account, and not logging into one just to help the other...

from what i read in guy's post he said minions had a option to rise against their leader, not how... i was thinking about leaving him, not overthrowing him, minions have no powers =P and, if that was the case, i would totally not agree with that system becasue then you'd overthrow a leader by creating ten alts and inviting them... would take less than 5 minutes, while heavy loyalty-grinding still takes about 2-3 hours and some dedication to what you are doing... apart from that, i like V's suggestion, specially #2, that sounds like the kind of thing you'd do in a game like this one, with medieval influences wherever you look
-
that would be too RP-based and stable in my opinion... no leader would give any powers to anybody if he's fearing an overthrow, and at some point they leave the game and their ally for demise... i wonder why i mention simply and savel so many times today, but they fit most of the time LOL maybe they focus on other accs or other games, but at some point an overthrow would be necessary, but impossible if the old leader didn't open up that option... plus, i like the current system, it gives rebels a chance of doing 'their thing'

you didn't get the point i was making... oh well, i might have failed to make myself clear^^ i think that staying in a class forever is NOT what a person might want, i would definitely get bored after a few weeks... static roles are useless for this game, you ened to keep it developing and changing and maybe growing, and coming into one class to be stuck there forever to get more powers in that class doesn't fit with that changing part... your system, no matter which, would make any major changes in one's roleplay impossible, i couldn't ever get a decent fighter if i want to have healing abilities, and the other way round... and all of them are useful... this game is different from diablo and WOW and whatever skill-trees you are thinking of, you don't focus on killing or healing in here, you need to develop your skills in all areas to keep moving, and those who rest rust... see what happend to Savel, Simply, Big C, Wodin, phrog... if you get stuck in a role and can't get out of it, you get bored and leave, because (unlike WOW and diablo) there are no things you can gain forever... there comes a point when you have all you want in MD, and if you can't go back and do something else when this point comes, or if that going back is connected to too much loss, you'll get another game... i fought my way up for over 250 days before seeing that i was done and reached all i can reach in that part, and was on the edge of quitting before i realized that there are ways of changing what i am, that i don't NEED to keep on fighting boring combats that don't even last long enough to have the pics loaded before they are over... this game lives from constant changes, like villian dst who changed to the nice former-reseacher girlie, King Raven who left loreroot to do some illusions finally etc.etc. else most people would quit sooner or later, after a year of doing the same things and walking the same paths day by day you jsut get bored because there's nothing left to see...

Savel's Church was created to worship the Great Ghost Savelfuser... long story short: Savel was the first mp6 in the game, and used his abilities in the shade war, and once that war-thingy was done, he left the Guerilla and made a new role for himself, being the noble protector of the weak and such, and with the help of Morquor [and a few others, but Morquor was the leading figure back then] he formed a Church of people who prayed to him and got implemented as Guild because the idea was kinda nice. nowadays, mp6 is not a privilege anymore [which has been proven by Jester and me], but a mere thing of activity and spamming people LOL and Savelfuser, who was the great point of the Savelites, left. in the same way as DS are pointless nowadays, the Church is nonexistant with nothing to pray to (leave me alone with praying in his absence, i know you can pray to things that are not there... but let's not start this fight on this level, please) and that's why it needs reformation. The desolate system of the Church allowed people like Cryxus and KB to take over and use it as their private alliance, which must be prevented... allies are there for a greater good and to serve some purpose, not for peoples private 'YAY, i'm cool and own an ally'-complex [right, i'm talking about the Creators or whatever they call themselves these days] thanks for your attention, and please feel free to flame me all you want, i can take that ^^

i think that the whole system needs to be dynamic. period you can base it on a stat/cumulated stats system, which we could easily work out within a day, but you NEED it dynamic, else roles will get static and that's exactly what we don't want for a long-lasting game... that is to say, a warrior should be able to rise his healing abilities by raising his regen or power, and losing his warrior abilities on the way the huge problem i see there: you don't jsut raise a stat as you please, you get more attack than other stats in the system... we'd need a system that makes it possible to 'switch off' stat gains that you don't want, and that wouldn't go along that good with creating a balanced profile :/ imo, the system can't work in the classes way you are suggesting, Guy, and it would be rather interesting to have it implemented as illusion-like system, giving you more and stronger spells for higher stats [i guess you can see the high-stat-player talking there^^] which can be switched on and off about two times a day or such, with half an hour cooldown before you can switch again... obviously, that gives an advantage to grinders, but stats raise in time without heavy grinding, too...

The exact price of 1 silver coin
Burns replied to Metal Bunny's topic in Market debate and related topics
to me, silver coins are useless and therefore worthless at this point... i don't need to buy any creatures, and i don't WANT to buy rarities as i'm more the emotional collector, when i finally have a drachorn or nice items to watch on my page, i want to remember the fun of getting it, and not how much silver i invested... though i think that this game needs supporters and that these supporters should have advantages, i don't think that items, rare creatures and, in the long run, inner magic documents or WP should be bought or even subject to trades that concern silver coins, that's not appropriate imo :/ -
i'm sorry to say that, but in my opinion, that idea is really bad... everyone would have every principle and get insane boosts from every token, be able to use every inner magic thingy... Mur had something in mind when limiting principles to 5 per account ;-)
-
you can trick empty names on creatures, yes, but then it would still show up in the combat-pic, which this one didn't ;-)

and once again, jewelshards is involved, after the 6th attack of the jewelshard-holder there is a strange 'can't target' thing that shouldn't be there, and the other party wins and gains inexplainable amounts of xp... well, not totally inexplainable, it's the jewelshards over-top vit devided through six, but totally neglecting the damage that was dealt, which would make 51 xp per creature... in my eyes, it's official: jewelshards has unwanted influences on combat a part of a fight log against Xeveron Burns's Gregory does damage to all creature(s) of Xeveron and: - Pimped Grasan receives 468 damage and remains with 1648 vitality - Animated Tree I receives 343 damage and remains with 4023 vitality - Unholy Priest receives 469 damage and remains with 187 vitality [color="#FF0000"] - receives 472 damage creature DIES! [/color] unfortunately, the bunch of tokens he used was insane, i think just about one of every kind... still, jewelshards were involved on animated tree, and the fight ran totally smooth after killing of the invisible extra creature tried attacking the same rit with a max grasan/weaken, and the invisible creature didn't show up :/ but i got 2000 more xp than i should have gotten in the end EDIT: ok, killing the nonexistant creature was kind of a single incident, failed to reproduce it...

could anybody please hack into the source of MD main page and change default browser from 'latest IE' to 'latest FF'? that would spare us some trouble imo

AHH, thanks people, i love you all =) and, to any people out there wondering what being 20 is good for: from this day onwards, i CAN: -legally drive after having two-three beers with my friends (til twenty, it's zero alc when driving) -buy ANY sort of legal drug, including pure alcohol if i want to -get into all bars, casinos and brothels -stay out all around the clock (ok, i could already do that with 18, but still^^) from now on, i'm legally a full member of society and allowed to do everything i want =) things i still CAN'T do: -ride motorbikes over 180 horse-powers (need to be 21 to do that) -get president of Austria (need to be 35 [= almost dead] to do that XD) edit: 7 years to go before i could join forever 27-club... right now, that seems like the best thing to do, but i guess my opinion will change once i'm 26 LOL edit2: yeah, well, bunny lives in a colonial superpower... most Dutch didn't get 21 before being killed by pirates back then, so they could as well enjoy the time til then =P but 16 is the one and only true age for starting drinking, and 18 for heavy drug abuse... i wonder how you americans manage to survive as teenies, i'd turn to an emo too if i'd have to wait with public vomiting til i'm 21

This idea is insane enoguh to be fun... So I'm in for it^^ Burns male 1. I don't offer my services when i've got RL-chores to take care off [that should be rather clear, i'm still doing MD as game, not as full-time-job] 2. I'm not selling myself for less than 2 coins a day [i still have my pride... and that's obviously the share that goes to MY pocket, deal with Kragel for seeing how much that would cost you ;-)] 3. I'm worth that much =P
-
only in the combat log you get when you click on the 'detailed logs', not the one that scrolls through... pretty self-explaining, and a bit funny^^
-
1. as i've said, i haven't thought it all the way through XD 2. I guess that dummy-defences are not the way this game is meant to be played anyway... we are just doing it wrong atm because we tried to reach your stats with high-honors =P that would change greatly if you could actually gain something for having proper defs up, atm i gain more for losing a incoming fight than for winning it...
-
this might be just some weirdos idea, but you could change the honor system and make it independent from the balances one has... i haven't thought this all the way through yet, but you could base the honor system on players stats (therefore showing the real strenght of a player, which was the intention of the honor system as far as i got it back then), like...giving them points for their stats, idk, maybe summing up all stats a player has, or maybe giving them a certain weight [like, attack counts stronger and gets multiplied by 1.3 before adding up, trade sense is less important and gets multiplied by 0.4 before being added to the result]... and then, you get honor from every player who has more points than you have, and neg honor from every player that has less points than you... positive effects: -honor rewards show a players real strenght -no more honor troubles for the normal player, you'll almost always find a grinder who will give you a win or two -grinders get a heavy punishment, the strongest players will get into knee-deep honor troubles -young players could easily catch up with insnae extra xp and stats from high-honor-rewards negative effects: -grinding gets not only disencouraged, but straightout impossible from a certain point onwards, and that will set limits on the warrior-players in their role-development just my opinion on that stuff [edit: edited in one more pro^^]

nope, power is stat on itself, and at least those things healing and stealing need one^^ and now the last whirlwind seems a nice little creature =) now i'd even suggest randomizing the attack with only benefital attacks, like damage, chaotic, weaken or a weak life steal, now it's attack is within sane limits for an all =D
-
ok, now the attack is better ^^ but def is still too high imo... ´strong defenders right now have about 15-20, and those insane whirlwinds come with 70? more init would fit, but the def is still too high, especially on max...
-
you'll get used to thinking in server time within a week... those are things that are not worth to bother at all imo, we are an elite community, living in two timezones at once shouldn't cause too much trouble
-
Strong Wind II has too much def, and max has too much attack and def... all damagers with such powers would need to be an RPC reward, and i don't think we should have even more insane creatures that are given out according to one players mood -.- UNLESS random is a random not only between useful things like chaotic, weaken and damage, but also covers martyr, defend, and heal... [and of course no life-steal all...]
-
where is the limit for the acid effect? if i used it in a single, it'd have 2000 attack, therefore aciding all enemies for all their vit x2 LOL and a whole bunch of people out there are over 1000 by now ;-) overall, it's nice but overpowered... even as RPC reward...
-
LOL, you face difiiculties finding your rits among 20 defs? i don't leave home with less than 200 defs set ;-) name them matching to their purpose (damage, steal, victory and D for defence, for example), and scroll down, they get saved according to when they were made^^ then, rit-setting... well, it would be too easy to get wins if hit and runs got even faster, and nobody would get a chance to get a fight against non-idlers... and comfort is not everythign in an alpha, we are still experimenting =D and PMing... it's part of the thrill to find a player before you can message him/her, especially RPCs for quest-solving, else it would really get too easy to spam players inboxes...
-
1. was suggested and denied a few times, rit-setting should be a tough job to make the mp3s life harder^^ 2. nice idea, but how many combat rits do you need? LOL i guess it could be an option to hide it if you have the same rit more than once [thinking of skipping trees] but i'd not want to hide my defences from myself... 3. (or 5.? =P) could be handy, but you need to keep the combo count in mind, that would need to reset too... but overall a good idea, i like that one^^ but will most probably be denied due to the reason i gave in answee 1 4. friendlist, buy it in shop and have your pals available at all times^^ 5. no idea about that :/

Repeat offenders that do not get punished!
Burns replied to Shadow(mcvities)'s topic in Sparring Grounds
imagine you had a personal clinch with someone who uses the dojo, then kill him/her in there two times. Your enemy gets the message of multiple offenders and activates bounty-hunt for you, for three days officially plus another two til she remembers taking you off the list. And now imagine there is a reward for kicking your ass, let's say nothing special, just a medal 'bounty-killer' or something... About 30 people would go jumping on you all day long, and you would have not the slightest chance of surviving, not when some mp5 really want to kill you, your vit would be down to 0 for all the time you are 'wanted' and you would have no chance of gettign a proper fight, and if you tried to roleplay during that time, you'd even be flamed in chat (yes, we are that evil to dojo-offenders *hehe*) and now say that happens to you twice or even three times, maybe just out of accident, Calyx has a 'no mercy' policy on repeated offenders, and your bounty hunt will go longer, maybe two weeks, and if you then go and insult her, she'll most probably increase it to a fortnight plus three days prison or something... that'd make two and a half weeks off non-gaming for you, and i know a lot of people who would leave straight away under such circumstances... Or we might even get a itsy-bit more evil and give you xp in our attacks, then you'd cap out with useless monster-xp on useless creatures and have no chance of surviving any battle in a very long time... that would definitely stop players from offending multiple times because because they'd quit -.- oh, and another idea: even though i respect the dojo and like Calyx, i'd definitely start offending the dojo if that got implemented, i want to be bounty-hunted^^
