So, Keida, in your opinion good rp is making multiple alts and causing needless drama? Especially in your little area by the lake, having multiple babies in a rash that seems highly unrealistic, and falling in love with a multitude of men?

I may not role play now, but I have for quite a few years before getting fed up with it and all the invisible rules that have been given out as to who can do what, what constitutes this or that, what even makes it GOOD.


Role play is a community thing. I agree that there is a line of what actually fits in MD and what does not. For example... some of you got met by the Postman. Did you even bother to listen to what he said about your roles? Some of you were even questioned on the constitution OF your roles, and how they even came to be, and how they fit. Some of you even may have NOT gotten what you had came to get because of that fact.

MD does not have 'classes' MD has MD. MD is not one of your generic role play games.
Take for example in Necrovion:
Jester does not take the flighty fancy, imaginary fantasy players who have their roles based on what I just described before me. If you actually payed attention to the bounds of MD, then you can understand how to better fulfill your character needs, and how it plays into the way MD fits.

Look at the AL For example.
You have a wizard-- He based his wizardship off of studying the priciples.
And Akasha-- She based her role in trying to figure out the principles and hunting in the pyramids of Mt. Kell'atha or however you spell it.

While MD gives people the chance for ingenuity and creation of various character types and personality, one must think: How does it fit in with the AL, and MD as a whole?

One example that I COULD give you was based off of why the AL [or from what I have heard] was removed:
Renavoid had a space ship.
Renavoid also had access to the AL and writing it.
You see where I am going here? Spaceship? MD? No, no no.
He CRASHED that space ship in the House of Liquid Dust. You think that was a smart idea?

So... in short:
Role play is a community thing.
Role play is a thing in which also has boundaries which should be adhered to via social, or game mechanical means.
Role play is meant to be FUN and not be burdened down with this or that rules of things that totally make it over complicated, and thus, less fun.
Role play does, however, need some sort of structure to it so that people do not go buzzing around like gnats on a banana peel. Get what I am saying?

You're either being deliberately obtuse or missing the point entirely. Life is trivial, live with it. Most of life's joy comes from trivial things, why should this not be so with role-playing when it holds a mirror to so many aspects of life?

So, rping is not just blue text being flung about, but it's creating a character and acting as that character would. RP is being in character all the time... Having an RP group in a RPing game is just silly. As I said, that's trivial RP.

And seeing that characters and their roles in MD are tightly bound to lands in 90% of cases, I'd say that lands are more than loosely connected to RP.

We obviously have different definitions of good RP, for me a good RPer is someone who starts of somewhere between rubbish and moderate skill wise then visibly develops over time.

I also fail to see how lands qualify as RPing groups in anything but the very loosest sense.

Windy's Pub used to be something of an RP group, an RP group is a group who congregate together for the purpose of RPing, this isn't the case with the lands.

Hard to find good RP-ers? I'm almost always in character. It seems to me what you want to find is trivial RPers.

Good RP requires a lot of knowledge about the nature of the MD realm, which almost everybody who replied in this thread lacks. Create RP-ing groups? Hello! We kind of already have those... Much better ones than those you suggest. They are called lands...

Classes? So, you want MD to become yet another DnD clone?


Windy leading a school for RPing would result in new players creating things from thin air and flinging fireballs all about... You'd just get a lot of mp3 demi-gods. And don't we already have enough of those here?


Suggestion: Read the story mode, read the AL, read the realms RP requirements. Find out what the MD realm really is and then talk about RPing in MD terms. You're just making yourselves look silly this way.

It would seem that the University will not be happening, unless I am mistaken.. There are many people I have seen and as you can see on the forum offering their help and support yet for quite some time nothing has come of it, Granted Calyx hasn't been around too much but whats to stop others from trying to make this work? Most people seem to Agree that this is a good Idea but Nothing. No Lessons, No Classes... We have had the odd Lecture from Mur, but thats about it.

Is this merely another great idea that people support just enough to gain more popularity but not enough to actually make it work? Yet another tool for people power mongering whom will do nothing now that they have what they want?

Well as the topic title already says, I bought the full stack (5) of them permanent VE boosters from the MDshop, but back then i was still in MP2, the problem is, now that I'm in MP3, the bonus to VE is not there.

I'd like to see a way to get this fixed...either by simply adding me the ve or be re enabling that stack of 5 boosters in the shop orso...

I never begged for something, not even for rewards.
Yes mur gave me some things ( maybe that is why are upset on me) , but I deserved every single credit from it and you know it.

As for quests ... I'm not really a quest-er so I will not mind, I just don't want this to escalate (today me, tomorrow all Lore and MD alliances, etc).

Anyway, take it as you want, but it is not a threat, it is a warning of what WILL happen and you darn know it.

Laugh as hard as you want, consider me crazy if you want, I cannot foresee the future but I know that if you break a law once ... it will be taken as example.

No Akasha, I disagree with you (all) on the point.
It seems that I have enemies (players that hate me ) and want to "bring me down", and I cannot help it.
And no, I don't have enemies (players that I hate) just players that I don't like (more or less) but this doesn't mean that I will not help them.
For example : hmm, Dmik King (sorry dude, but I do ), yes, at one time I really hated the guy, but this week asked my help ... and I did
Another example (not so recent) : Shoeps, he used (yes, not asked, but I also didn't refused) my help

My point is : RPC is just Role Play, but when they go the the selected list, they should stop acting any hate (and they are supposed to be good at acting), they are the "elite" of Role Play, they should give an example

And from this, my second point : don't start this ... selecting of players, don't make precedents as you will end up with things that you don't expect (not to mention that you don't wont).

Third point: if you allow them to refuse the pleasure of some (pin pointed) to make their quest, on what base do you sustain that those should refrain themselves from stopping / destroying those quest ? (see point no 2 with the outcome that you don't wont)

Most of the players either hate me or simply don't know about me, just a few give the time to try to know me (not like me) and to stop hating me and even less like me.
But don't worry, I hate nobody (that much )

And because you remembered it : yes, I finished the quest ... in my own way.
And to show you that i'm not the one you think I am ... I am still considering not to do anything with the answers .

BUT, as you know, patience and calm (even mine) have limits.

Oh, not to forget : any RPC quest SHOULD not be forbidden to "some players". If they choose to make for just specific MP, honor, max/min exp ... that is ok but no other limits.

@ marv: i have a similiar concept in my military papers, just that it actually can involve some keydata from a fight to form a frame for the rp. it could be played similiar to gaimans 'the oldest game' (in that case it could for example keep the form of ritual battle and narrate a fight between the participant's armies) or as a 'contest' of strategists and story-tellers, where one can lose the actual fight but win the rp battle by weaving the events into the own story in such a way that they favour your strategy/agenda.

the concept isn't bound to one 'form', and can be as complex as the participants want it to be.

Saying "I am sure that there is a way for champions dome to be used for the events when ever they are to happen if Mur will allow it" shouldn't be going through your head really.

If you look at just about anything else in the realm which was started by a player, it was started FIRST and then Mur helped it a bit, this wont just magically get decided "yes it'll happen, of course Mur will help if he allows it." it's not whether Mur 'allows' it, it's whether you can get it going or not, something like this he likely would 'allow' because he might not do anything against it, but just because he doesnt do anything against it, doesnt mean he'll do stuff to help it.

criticism:
everyone who has ever seen a creature page automaticly does that, except that s/he omits those values that don't add to the idea itself, or about which they are not sure, which is good, for it can be worked out in discussion. the one thing that generally gets confused is when a creature needs a power- and attackvalue, etc, and listing all stats increases this confusion....


now, i'm not saying a template is a bad idea, to the contrary actually, but instead of just listing things (i.e. some values that are rather hard to asses for many newer players), it should also add some explanations, like when a creature needs certain stats and that not all stats are needed for each creature, etc

specially since the dojo started, you don't need to beat anything up, you just ask for an easy rit, or you tackle only people who are known to set trees...

i think provocating the dojo staff ain't the right thing to do, but i guess that the dojo staff needs means to deal with repeat offenders nonetheless, and as those are not inteded to be hardcoded, how about hiring a few mercenaries with a bunch of trees, if the dojo-people themself seem unable to get the job done?
i hope we all know how painful it is when some people think you deserve punishment, and from what i heard there are some LHO in the dojo-staff who have a movelock for their LHO-work... two weeks with neg vp is almost as bad as two weeks in prison for mp5 newcomers, and truth be told, the community can't hurt the veterans really if they decided to work against the dojo...

i'm sure you could turn it in some way to make useage of LHO-spells on dojo-violators morally right, as they are there for Live Help for players who need help, unlike the RPCs and Admin-spells, which are there to observe the greater rules of the game...

don't forget the term "starting with a .22" heh, you get kids trying to shoot larger calibers than what adults 40+ got to shoot (if they had a gun) and it was a chain of BB+Pellet+Larger Pellet=.22 cal, now the skip it entirely...


kids are getting dumbed down, driving more reckless, being bubble-heads, no sense of proper insults, puns, good pranks, actual honor, not thinking of using a drill from Shop Class as a weapon, not doing so much major Graffiti, being (pardons to any) 'sexually' mature, while having the mental state of 2-4 years younger than what they are.

inability to controll their hormonal hissyfits, dressing more and more skimpy,(girls, generally) thinking that living minimum wage and not getting a higher lifestyle is cool (both) and 'gagsta' wearing prison clothing, (I.E clothing that constantly falls down between your ankles) getting more involved in crime of any kind, (boys more generally)

the list goes so bloody on for so long, I'd have to spend a day listing all of the odds and ends of the generations today.

Blood Princ has been banned for repeated violations in the Dojo at Marind Bell Park. Attacks were made on Staff Members, as well as other Mp5's of all types (Alliances, Guilds, Regular players). Despite Dojo Warnings sent to his Private Message as well as brandings made to his Public Log, attacks were continued to be made.

After much deliberation between Chief of Staff *Ibruzu* and myself, and a consultation with Calyx of Isis via OtherRealm means, it was decided that Blood Princ would be made an example of and banned.

The Dojo works because the Magic Duel community works together with the Dojo Staff and Trainees to ensure that the Marble Dell Park is a place where players of all mind powers can train with each other.

This Banning is a new tool Gifted to only a select few senior members of the Dojo. This is the first time it has been used and it is the hope that this will be a deterent to other players to learn the Dojo rules and know what the consequences may be if they blatently attack players. It is our hope that this Tool will not have to be used again.

Ha! I told you long time ago that the dojo is on the death bed. But noooo! You keep saying it's not.
In the beginning the idea was good and I supported it but in time I realized things need improvement. Unfortunately Calyx and the other dojo stuff refused to do it (thinking maybe that they will lose their power). Well...look where it went now!
BloodPrinc was the first to do it, No one will probably be the second and I will be the third to start breaking the rules. Why? Because they are stupid rules and because I hate the stubbornness of the "creators". The dojo could be such a good idea only if you would emulate it to the needs of the players.

So, all you anti-dojo players out there! Join me! Let's make the dojo a better place! Let's clean the dojo of cowards! Let's clean the dojo of power abusers! Let's make it a better place or destroy it trying!

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The Dojo is a choice. This? This isnt a community enforced anything, this is banning someone. Big difference there.

We all know the Dojo is not some sort of "rule" in the game, so how is banning someone for not going along with it in any way reasonable? For one thing, attacking in the Dojo seems like a reasonable thing to do if you dont agree with it. You guys have lots of other functions you can use to achieve what you want without resorting to what I consider ridiculous levels like this, and which would benefit the game's RP too.

Incidentally, I never see the Dojo actually being a Dojo. I see no training being done, I see no lessons, but i see lots and lots of people just sitting there knowing that if they get attacked the person will get yelled at. Frankly I think you need people like BloodPrince to remind you that what you have created is a privelidge to be fought for, not a right for which people who disagree get banned. Or are we "fighting for the rights of the dojo" now?
