The way to theoretically beat that would be the assume that you are in fact wasting a creature slot on the aura negater, and use a number of the new tortured souls to drain your stats and then destroy you with a chaos archer, or some sort of strong creature. A knator, maybe. I say theoretically because I don't know the power of these tortured souls. But they should eliminate any absolute power stats will give. Awi
  3. I agree with Burns, a creature would have to have almost no benefits besides the negation of auras. Or perhaps it not only negates your opponents auras but ALL auras. That would be a pretty big downside. But you'd have an advantage, because you'd know not to use birds with it... it would cause for some interesting situations... Awi
  4. Actually, I'm in support of a creature that negates auras. Not exactly what RJ was talking about, but I think it would equalize the playing field. We have a creature that removes stats (theoretically) and vitality, now we need a creature that removes those pesky freeze, regen, and bonus auras. Awi

  6. Yeah, I am Bored, 0 ID bug? I'm thinking that as well. I'm fairly sure this is how it works: When you're writing long mails, your Magic Duel refreshes while you're writing it. This assigns you a different parameter that you had when you first started, which brings up the missing parameters screen. Just be careful when writing long messages, or type entirely in a word document and copy and paste into your message at the end. I know, not a bug fix... but... I think this one might take a long time to fix. Awi

  9. While I enjoy the systematic (and witty) insulting of a number of the people in our community, the last few posts are off topic. If you would like to discuss Renavoid's mental and pyschological characteristics, even though I find that to be a waste of time and effort, then make a topic for it. This topic is to help Renavoid, and as much as the unrelenting insults towards his ego might at first appear to be helping Renavoid get out from Necrovion, shockingly they do nothing. Awi
  10. Just a heads up, this bug is NOT resolved. Every so often while I'm roaming MD or reading a pm, it will suddenly decide I'm using two windows and send me into idle mode. I use Firefox, and have cleared both my cache and cookies multiple times. Awi
  11. Liberty, about the message to Shoeps... check the message again, but this time check the tags on it. Likely Shoeps marked it as ms3. That is what he did for my message when I thought he didn't read it. He reads all pms, it's just the important ones he marks as unread so that he knows that he needs to keep them. Awi

  13. I gave healing as one reason, there are many others. The most important for me is a more emotional connection to my homeland. Necrovion is naturally my favorite place in game, my homeland, and why should it be that I cannot access my home? I have a sentimental loss when I cannot freely enter my homeland. If you want other reasons, besides my emotional attachment, think of meetings. In all the other alliances that have access to their homeland, they have a place where they meet and discuss, a central location. The Sentinels do not, and the places we do congregate are often in others homeland, and a sense of unwelcome is always present. Is it the burden of the Sentinels that we should never feel at home?   14. I really think you are underestimating the judgment of the players on this one. It is not that difficult to see who is loyal to the Sentinels and who is not, and if you would like more security, there are requirements that can be added. In fact, the key could be coded so that when a player leaves the alliance they lose their key as well. This, along with a 50 day (in the alliance) requirement would stop all those wishing to simply get the key and then split. Awi

I agree that if the sword was made in way that allowed dst or other very strong members to take the sword it would remain with them forever, there are ways to make it slightly less desirable or make it more volatile. For instance, a sword that when you hold it, it at first grants you an increase in stats, but the longer you hold it, the fewer stats it gives, until it starts giving negative stats. The Tainted Sword, if you would. Of course if you were to give the item away, and then give back, the negative counter should not reset. This would create an item that has nice benefits, but can often become a burden. And then imagine this, if you know someone has used the sword too long in the past, and you now possess the sword, you can fling it at them and then reap the benefits of their lowered stats. In fact, it is possible that instead of going into the negatives, when the sword stops giving benefits, it simply takes away ALL your stats. Also, a quick way to ensure that high people do not take the sword is to place a Mind Power requirement on it. Awi
  16. I am very wary of items such as jewelry crafting... MD is supposed to be different then any other RPC game out there, and to me that is very similar to systems already present in many other games. As much as I love inventories, we need to be careful of creating items that can be accessible to everyone. I think items should be given very selectively to very few people, and if there is to be a smelter for example, there should be one true smelter. I would like inventories to strengthen roleplaying, not become another access of the game separate from it. If you would like to pick a fruit... just *pick a fruit*, I truly do not see a large need for objects for everything in game. Possibly eventually, but right now items should be personal. Item uses I would like to suggest: A crown, symbolic for the leader of an alliance. It can be taken only by someone in the same alliance, with greater loyalty, and by a victory in combat. A key, able to be given to anybody, that opens the door to a place. An example of this would be a key to Sage's Keep. I would suggest that certain items be able to be taken, and not just given. Items that work similarly to heads would make for some very interesting situations, not to mention an increase in combat. For example, a sword that increases stats. However, of course, there needs to be restrictions. For example, the person needs not just a victory, but a 100% to 0 % win, or some other similar defeat. There could be items that act as books, and whose description contain links to a body of text, or you could create another action (read item). For example, a book of secrets about Loreroot, or a book about the Sun. A few ideas, I'm sure I'll come up with more. Awi
  17. In my early days as a Sentinel, I was annoyed by a rather glaring problem with the Alliance system. Why is it that some Alliances can visit their homeland freely (Loreroot, Marind Bell, and Archives Alliances) while the Alliances from Golemus Golemicarum and Necrovion cannot? To me, it seemed unfair that some members can freely heal themselves, while the rest of us are constantly hurt and penalized for not being in a place that we cannot even get to. It is true, there are ways to go to Necrovion and Golemus Golemicarum, such as spells cast by Grido and Khalazdad, however there are problems with this as well. Khalazdad can open the gates to anyone, and cannot stop people from flowing in, as opposed to being able to selectively grant access to the Sentinels.. The leader of Necrovion, Marvolo, cannot even open the gates for his followers. Also, there have been times where I desired access to Necrovion, and Khalazdad was idle or not present, and I'm sure the same goes for members of the Fraternity and Guerrilla Golemicarum. I truly believe that all Alliances should have the ability to visit their homeland freely. This problem can be solved one of two ways: 1. Give automatic access to Golemus and Necrovion to Alliances of the respective homelands. 2. Give the ability to a player to give the key to the gates (open the gates permanently for that player) to anyone (or you could specify and say any alliance member) This is not a huge coding nightmare, I know for a fact that the mechanism for permanent keys to places already exists.   19. I don't have access to the places accessible only by storymode, and so I was not aware that there are even letters in those places. I agree with Wander that placing letters there is not exactly fair. Awi PS 100th post.
  20. Perles, we truly don't know how gravity works. All we have is a formula for how much force two objects exert on each other, and a model proposed by einstein which deals with matter making dents in space. What gravity actually is, we don't know. Awi

  23. I'm a firm believer that science and humans in general cannot explain all that exists, just as we cannot fully understand ourselves. We cannot fully understand our minds, we can only fully understand things that reside on a simpler plane that our brains. For example, animals, and even more simple, such as flies, we can get a good idea of what controls their genes, their thoughts, emotions, etc. As for the human body, there are as many mysteries, if not more, as there are answers. So, it makes sense that there would be things [i]more[/i] complex than our minds, and that we would be unable to understand them. I believe Ghosts, higher powers, among other phenomena (gravity) are impossible for the human mind to comprehend. It's interesting that we know more about the force between the smallest molecules than we do about the force that keeps us on this Earth. If you're into physics, I'm talking about the Grand Unifying Theory. Awi
  24. Yes, I too feel like the balloons do not do what they are supposed to do. A better alternative would be to create a voluntary group of quest solvers whose sole purpose would be to solve the quests of aspiring MD members. They would report the good quests to a Quest Team Leader, who would report that to Shoeps or Mur, and the voluntary quest solvers would be given rewards based on how many quests they evaluate (not how they evaluate the quests).
