  1. 100 % agree. Why not write Obituaries? Explain why they are to be remembered, whether it be good or bad. This can be an archivist thing, if you want. It is our job to do writing. Awi
  2. I kind of like the fact that you have to manually transfer each coin individually. I can't logically explain why, but I just can't help but imagine a shady dealer doling out each coin slowly. But I suppose if you need a reason, it makes you realize how much 20 silver coins is, and makes you think twice about the purchase you are about to make. Awi
  3. I'll be absolute frank. If I had silver, I wouldn't trust you (or anybody except Mur) with my money. The reason is this: People come and go from MD, sometimes without rhyme or reason. Who is to say the person I invest my money in won't suddenly disappear? What about if you lend too much, and I want to withdraw all my money? On a huge scale with lots of customers, this isn't an issue because there is constantly money flowing in and out, but MD is a small community. Also, if you prove to be distrustful, I can't get my money back. There is no way for me to beat you up, or threaten you, or do truly anything that will for sure get me my silver back. This idea has lots of holes. I'm sorry. Awi
  4. Here is my opinion on silver: For now, it should be absolutely useless, but isn't. However, that could change very quickly. Economies work like this: There is a valued commodity, one that people want. In order to trade this commodity, they use a representation of wealth, something that can eventually be turned in for money. Using a RL example, for the first centuries of paper money, it was ALWAYS backed by gold or silver, so that if someone wanted, they could trade in their paper money at any time and get equal value in gold. Nowadays that is not true, and I think because of it our economy could collapse at any moment, but that's a conversation for another time. The problem with MD's economy in my opinion, and the reason that silver prices will fluctuate, is that there is no backing to the Silver. Their value is purely symbolic, and as a result... their worth is determined by the population. If we as a group decide silver is worthless, it will be worthless. A solution you ask? Just something interesting to think about, what if you could trade silver back for credits? This is interesting because then you could pay just one MD credit instead of the gift of 5 or 20 all at once. This would back the silver, and then silver would ALWAYS be worth 1 MD credit. Of course, I doubt this will happen, because Mur is probably curious to see how we treat silver, and how we value something that is only purely symbolic, which to be honest, I am curious about as well. 5. Maybe this is a silly question, but can you name your creature " "? As in, a space? Awi
  6. And I quote from the Developement page, which is out of date. "Alpha 8 Illusions and MP2 start stage" While that didn't happen, I do feel that Magic Duel is ready for Alpha 9. If you think about the prominent people from Alpha 7 and 8 (Renavoid, Nelya, Aqune, etc.) there is a strong shift in leadership and in participation as a whole. I think that this is the most important thing to note. To me, and perhaps this will always be true, I see Alphas as generations, as in each Alpha a new batch of children are born, ready to be grown and eventually to take over their parent's jobs. Maybe that's just me. Any way you look at it though, Alpha 8 included major changes in the way this "game" is played, and who plays it. So I say, yes. Let's plow ahead. Alpha 9, here we come. Awi
  7. I agree, not a great idea. This is heads contest with one heads and no stat reduction Awi
  8. There is a link that should come up. Did nothing show up? Awi
  9. This is just going off of feelings... but... A cube is generally related to constriction and order. Humans are associated with cubes, because we create limits for ourselves, we put walls up around us to protect us from the spiral nature of the world. For humans to grow, they break out of a box into the next box, and that box gets progressively bigger. It is the passing from one box to the next that order events for us. Shades are associated more with spirals or circles than cubes, because they never end, they have no perception of time. Shades do not grow, perhaps they do not even change. In any case, they flow (black water). So then, it is strange to imagine the Shade Sentinel turning into a white box. For one, it is white, and for another, it is a cube. Shades are not, to me, related to cubes like humans are. To capture a Shade in a cube... is not something I consider possible anymore. This leaves me with one plausible explanation. The Shade Sentinel did not get captured in a cube, but rather left behind a cube when she left. Perhaps for a human to open, a human to grow out of? Maybe, then, the traveler is imitating the Shade Sentinel? Maybe the traveler is going to Deathmarrow to assume the Shade Sentinel's position, though I find that unlikely. Then there is the question of why the Traveler turned into a Sphere... like the Shades, I think the traveler is more characterized by spheres rather than cubes. The traveler entered MD freely, he did not need to grow out of a cube like the rest of us. So that much makes sense... Who is the traveler? I'm not sure I know yet. Is he a symbolic representation of change? Is he even a he? Anyone have any thoughts? Awi
  10. This argument has the potential to dissolve into a lame argument about definitions. The definition of right is relative, yours is different than mine, and I am willing to leave it at that. I think that the cube is simple because I know it must be so. Shade Sentinel does not need our help, she has all the strength in the land to escape it by himself. The cube has no bound on her immortal and ethereal shape. This I know, and it must be so. Awi
  11. As to Jester's post, I believe that the answer that works is and always will be the right answer. This is the definition of "right" isn't it? What works is right, and it will continue to be right until it stops working, and then it will be viewed as wrong. As for Watcher's argument, seeing is the most powerful form of suggestion there is. It is not necessary, of course, but in a way a powerful leader telling you something is equal to a weak leader showing you that it is. How can we be sure our eyes are not lying to us any more than a leader? There are many many cases where our eyes are proven to be not as infallible as we'd like to believe, and so what they see is a suggestion of the truth. The basic idea is this: the suggestion becomes more than a suggestion when the suggestion is believed, and that is what I am kindly asking the general population of Magicduel to do. Believe. I can tell you with utmost certainty that Shade Sentinel is and always will be free, and is too powerful to be contained in a simple cube. Awi
  12. It has been a long time since I gave attention to my own board, and so I think I will post a few ideas. It is very clear that this traveler is not from this world, and that his intentions are driven by curiosity and self-indulgence rather than anything else. As for Shade Sentinel, I have no doubt that she will be fine... however she may be weak unless something is done to find her very soon. She is trapped in a cube, and I ask, what is the best way to unlock a cube? Seeing as a cube, a six-sided shape lies clearly in the logical realm, I say that the best key to a logical figure is something rather illogical. As in the case of the entrance to the Pyramid that Akasha and Alche entered, I think the answer lies in a illogical solution. We need to believe, and not just believe but understand, that the Shade Sentinel is no longer in that cube. Once we have molded the world to our thought, she will be released, and this traveler will have no more power than a mouse. This is, after all, our world. The Traveler is but an explorer, and we are the rulers and inhabitants of this world. Let's take it back Awi
  13. I have gotten used to not having the sidebar for all this time, and I'm beginning to think that this downtime was actually a benefit to the game. Is it possible to add a box that turns the sidebar slider and notification on and off? It slows down my game and makes me miss PMs. Thank you. Awi
  14. The only real change I would make to this is more steps. 2 is just not enough. I understand that you want us to take this slowly, but if there are not enough people playing... it's just boring sitting in one location waiting for people. The faster this can go, the more fun people will have. Part of the appeal of the Heads Contest is that it requires lightning reflexes to take heads, and you can appear, take heads, then disappear Another suggestion is make the minimum kills 5, and take away the AP crippling effects. What this will do is allow people to move freely around and attack quickly and effectively, and it will allow people to run away, catch, etc. This will make it less of a arduous walk with very little action to a split second sprint all around the land. My opinion, take it or leave it. Overall though, I had fun. Using the Jump to leader (GO VOLTRON) and Team Necrovion were highlights. Awi
  15. In fact, the number of people that can send an mp2 to mp3 are larger than you might think. All LHOs have the power, so if any mp2 needs to be promoted, all he/she needs to do is use the active help button. Awi
  16. This is a momentous occasion, and one which I hope will not be glazed over by the other mess that is currently occupying the attention of the Magic Duel world. Where Knator Commander will go... I'm not entirely sure. But the ending of his reign over the army of Loreroot is an event to remember. It is an indicator of the changing times and generations. I hope that Knator Commander will find another home in the realm. Awi
  17. I really like that theory, or should I say, fact. Nicely put. Awi

    Happy B-Day Cless!

    Happy Birthday Cless!
  19. Read it all, took about 20-30 minutes. I'm not sure whether to exalt you for being insane and totally off-the-wall crazy, or condemn you for being careless. In any case, it's fun to watch and participate in this insanity, and certainly doesn't get boring trying to figure out just what you are trying to do and what you mean by your words, your actions, and your world. Truck on, Mur. Awi
  20. I like the style of pluses and minuses, so I will use them as well, with the addition of the / sign which means neither plus nor minus. A combination of /, +, or - means somewhere in the middle of the two signs. Ex. /- means so-so to bad. I agree with all of Kriskah Arcanu's, so I will not repeat them here. - Length of the festival. It would have seemed a lot more festive, and less... extended, if things were done within the span of a week or a few days. I realize it's hard to get all that content ready for a week, but it would be amazing if that could be done. + Survey. The fact that Mur is interesting in our opinions makes me happy, and hopefully it will result in some great new features. + The pending RPC process. Speeding things up is necessary, and I think this was a good way to go do it. I know RPCs are eager to get their spells and tags, however in all honesty it's more fun if those things come after the festival, just so we can get through it faster. +/ RPC promotion choices. Some I loved, but there were none I thought, "What the hell?" + Weaponsmith location +/ Prison Tours. Awesome that we got to see that, bad that some people couldn't use the gazebo. + RPC demotion. All of the demotions were deserved, and I have heard no problems or strong reactions to the demotions Awi
  21. There are some very interesting opinions here, and I would like to ask this: If the game reset only partially, what needs to be reset the most? Let me explain further for those who have questions. A full reset of all characters, days, stats, creatures, and credits is... unlikely, because this would remove much of the dedicated players from the game, and thus removing the revenue, and thus removing the server. However, a partial reset, for instance resetting only stats, is more likely. If such a partial reset was done, what area of MD should it be in? Since I asked the question, I think it's only fair I answered it first. I think, due to the ideology of the game, that the honor system, Story Mode, and possibly the loyalty system should be overhauled and reset. I don't think they work well, and worse they do not represent what they were intended to represent. The reasons for Story Mode have been said before by Aqune, culminating in the point that story mode no longer is part of the game, and is now a side-story rather than a history of the land. Awi
  22. I myself am open to a complete game reset, because of the simple fact that a better game will be more interesting and fun to play. I will gladly throw away my progress so far for something that will attract more members and be eventually more fun to play. There will still be the same people to talk to, and in general things can only improve. However, I do worry that many people will leave if a complete reset was done, only because some people focus wholly on self-improvement, and so if their improvement is gone and everyone is equal again... it would perhaps seem that all progress made in MD can change at a moment's instance, and is therefore too unrewarding to play. Of course, they would be missing the progress made in MD that does not consist of Avatars, Creatures, Medals, and the like. They are missing the progress that cannot be taken away. Awi
  23. I've been watching things a bit, and I see nothing wrong with Priestess Aia. There are no rules about who can or can not give you heads, and the use of a friend has been used as long as I've been here. As for her being able to predict the count... if she can predict it, then she deserves to win. That's not cheating, it's just being smart. Awi
  24. I have a possible fix, if anyone was looking for one. Because the problem is that the server reads one page as two because I am moving faster than it can process, the obvious bug fix seems to be to trigger the mutliple pages idle mode after 10 seconds, rather than instantly. The server would probably catch up within the 10 seconds, and the idle mode would not pop up unnecessarily. Awi
  25. I have a few issues. As this is inevitably a campaign to gain support from the people, I can tell you that you are missing a key element. In your first post, you give rather lackluster promises that have little to no support, which I think needs no addressing. However, there is only what you will do rather than what you have done. Have you done nothing worthy of mentioning to change the opinions of those more skeptical? If that is not the case, then I suggest you quickly amend the situation and tell us what you have done that calls for this change in title. As for the calling for the title, it is a little disgraceful, as none of the people you rule called for a change of title without provoking as they did for Khalazdad and Yrhtilian (Mur counts as many people in the case of Yrhtilian, and with Khalazdad people were calling him Rajj long before the crown). On the question of whether or not you should be declared Archon... this is the wrong forum to ask the question. The question truly should be presented to the people of Loreroot themselves, those that you will be ruling. Why do you ask the people of other Lands for their opinion on the matter? Surely their opinion is irrelevant, for they are not directly affected by the outcome of this title change. Awi
