1. Amoran - such as who? I noticed you didn't nominate anyone for the roleplay awards. If you think that someone deserves to win, why don't you nominate them? Or... do you speak of yourself? Do you feel as if you've been skipped over because of Zleiphneir? I mean these two questions literally, not as a snide attack. Awi
 2.
The only way that people seem to even listen on this game is by yelling at them. It just seems fitting to insult those back who have insulted me. But sure. I apologize. Not like it matters, eh?
It matters, thank you. Awi
 3. Curiose - calm it down. "Have you even once thought that, hey, maybe ths is wrong to actually insult people when they request something, or insult their quest, or generally, be a douchebag to everyone in MD." There's no reason to be hostile to ZenTao, her post was entirely reasonable, and though it may come from a different perspective, your own abusive response is uncalled for. I'll be direct with you, since that seems to be the style you most employ: I'm tired of seeing such tactless rampages. There's no excuse to meet poor behavior with equally poor behavior. Frankly I would like to see Seigheart handle requests in a more diplomatic manner. That said - the distinction between asking for a specific reward and indicating that a quest exists which he might want to sponsor makes sense. I'm all for transparency, especially in such a crucial role as Seigheart's. Awi
 4. I think Rendril and Muratus del Mur are ineligible for nominations - or have things changed? Adventuring - Beautification - Blackthorn Spellcaster - Shadowseeker Champion Fighter - Eon Elite Evil Villain - Jester Fossil - Innocence (Such high %) Golden Protector - Burns Helper of the Year - Kyphis Most Addicted - Chewett Outstanding Service - Seigheart (picking up the ashes...) Pre-eminent Roleplayer - Prime Quest - Maebius Rookie of the Year - Can someone compile a list of eligible people? Top Techie - Chewett Awi
 5.
Remove; Best Quote (Shadowseeker) Most Influential (Chewett, Nimrodel) Superlative Orator (Shadowseeker, Chewett, Nimrodel)

Agree that Best Quote should be removed. Historically, Yami kept a list of funny quotes, and we voted on excerpts from that, but in her absence it's not worth it to keep around.
Disagree that Influential should be removed. It offers a bench mark, in my opinion, and is necessarily subjective. Every award ceremony needs a incredibly broad category, and this is it. (Best Movie of the Year, Best Book, Best Song, etc.)
Agree Superlative Orator should be removed. Besides the forum, I can't think of cases where I've seen oration. Now I wish there was a category known as Most Eloquent (awarded to person who best uses language, in any form), but it's not a good idea to add categories this year.

Merge; "Best Artist" and "Paragon Papers" to become "Best Beautification" (Shadowseeker) "Prime Quest" and "Adventuring Award" to become "Questing Award" (Chengmingz) [I don't, personally, feel the other (help/influence) merge suggestion would work] Change; Best Quote (Nimrodel) - To encompass forum posts more. Top Techy (Chewett) - To best MDscripted event or script.

Agree for Best Beautification. Both awards alone are too specific to warrant a category to themselves.
Disagree for Prime Quest/Adventuring Award. There's not much overlap between the two when carefully considered - that is, people that solve quests well don't necessarily create good ones. Apologies dst, but I'm not a fan of your quests, though you are a dedicated and competent solver.
See above note about the Best Quote. I think it should be removed.
Agree with Chewett's change. Best Techie is unnecessarily vague, and should explicitly mention MD Scripts.

Add; MD Clown (Nimrodel) - ""Humor is an essential element in every award function. And it comes naturally. I think quality entertainment should recieve an award"" Master of Controversy (Nimrodel) - ""Someone who's been a part of year's biggest scandals. They may not necessarily be a villain.""

No opinion... it's a nice thought, but is there room?
Disagree - Too much overlap with Best Villain.
Awi
 6. Comments: 1. I think that the organizers should not be able to be voted for. It seems to have caused some uncertainties in the past - and certainly since we see precisely who people vote for, there may be some influence to vote towards the people who see whether or not you're being loyal. This, to me, causes a skew in the votes away from the actual winners. I, as an organizer last year and a hopeful organizer for this year, think that we/they should be disqualified from winning. 2. I think the uniform number per category should be 4 or 5. Why? If it's any more than 4 or 5, I think the voting becomes too divided to accurately portray who most people would agree is the best winner for that category. If it's as many as 7, likely people will choose the candidate they know best, and not the one they think would be best. I would even, if possible, limit it to 3 or 4, but I recognize that people want to at least see the people they feel strongly should win nominated, and MD is divided enough in these days that more than 3 or 4 distinct groups exist. I.e. lands, as Grido brought up earlier. 3. I think this year we shouldn't use the votepower that we used last year. It gave some depth to the voting, but still again introduced unnecessary skew. I think the best formula would give you power equal to the number of days out of the last year you were active. Aka: if a person logs on for 365 days out of 365 they get 365/365 = 1. If they log on for 100 days they get 100/365 vote power. Since this ceremony is supposed to award based on the last year of activity, it doesn't make sense to award those who have been active for two or more years. 4. I think that there can be repeat winners, same as last year. To me, it would be the case that a truly deserving winner is awarded twice more times that it would be the case that a non-deserving winner is awarded twice based off of familiarity. My intuition points me in the direction that familiarity should maybe even be considered a part of what helps people win, and not a disqualifying element. 5. Not sure about the Land votes... Always people vote disproportionately for the more familiar name, but again... that may do more good than harm in discerning who is truly influential. Awi l.e. added reasons for 2, 4

Pass by or send me a message, and I will either give you an ITC, or if you idle at the way, I'll pass it directly to you. -The next bubbles require that you complete a quest of my choosing. These could be hard, or easy, or medium. But they'll most likely be bizarre and odd and creative, so be prepared. ARCHIVE OF PAST QUESTS
1. Yet, I think otherwise. Marind may represent us, still, but she has not 'gone' away. We've only forgotten her. Plus, since the realm has a bedroom and a Land itself named after her, I think there is a similar aspect in her having personality beyond our own. (like the creatures are described in tutorial.. independent, but bound to our spirit too) In this regard, and based on clues with certain Stories I've overheard, I think that Marind exists "in our Past", in terms of memory and the somewhat 'physical' concept of time... and she also still lives a half-life within the realm, somewhat like the Shades exist, but are not generally present to encounter in our travels. 8. Eno was a typo in Passant's post. Eon is his name in both the forum and in game. Awi
 9. Why not have this work the opposite way? A spell that allows someone to attack in Sanctuaries? Awi
 10. One of the challenges of the day: Amuse provided me with a 2 million capacity jar of heat. I think it would be fun to fill it by 8:00 server time. Let's get going. IF YOU WANT TO HELP: Most likely the heat gathering will be taking place in MB because of the viscosity. Go there and look for someone with a 2000k unstable heat jar. If you can't find someone, message me and I'll try and locate the person who has it. A second challenge of the day: The watering can, too, needs to be filled. Come by and I'll give it to you to add words. A third challenge of the day: Materials must be gathered! If you cannot be there to provide materials at 8:00 server time, drop them off with me. Also - if you could post if you've given me anything and with the amount you gave. People gave things to me when I slept, and I missed their names. Awi
 11. A followup: The ritual will begin at 8:00 server time on Day 316. I understand this is a somewhat liminal time - in between for most people - but hopefully you all can make it. If you can't, but would like to assist: visit me anytime and ask to add something to the watering can. Besides that, I will be majorly active on Day 316 if all goes according to plan. So stop by. Awi
 12.
Actually, from my point of view apologising IS showing and taking responsibility for your mistakes. Simply saying nothing gives the impression that you either don't care, don't acknowledge or are too cowardly to admit the mistake in the first place. And you never apologised or admitted you were in error. I'd have taken an admission as at least a grudging apology. Where I am coming from that is a complete lack of respect. As for comments about my posting things. If you bother to look you will see that I have managed to get a HUGE debate about things going. There is also talk about people doing something now. Something that Mur himself was saying he was annoyed about the lack of. But feel totally free to focus only on the negative. Surely you guys can do better than that? Especially when you know fine well that is a load of tripe. Now if you don't mind I am off to hide the brainwashing machine. Wouldn't want you to find it after all. It would take me ages to build another one. Of course, if you did, It might make me go make one that didn't only just work on intelligent people.
Come now Firs, you taking credit for the actions of others is analogous to someone taking responsibility for a river because they offhandedly plucked a stone. Let me be clear: you are not important in this process. You could be anybody. You just happen to be in the right place at the right time, and we, the community, happened to respond in the correct way. The credit belongs to us. Not you. You ,as a person, still have done nothing besides create a board. Does a gambler take credit when he rolls the dice and gets snake eyes? Awi And as an aside, getting a huge debate going is not much of a challenge in general, but especially for this type of community. Just say something moderately ambiguous and insulting. Aka: "Shame on you."
 13. UPDATE: Curiouse, upon leaving MD, gave away the aramor that was originally a reward for this quest. She had forgotten that the aramor was mine and reserved for the quest. SO currently this quest has no reward... In that light, I'm going to end it. The word was altruism. No one wins the quest, but Hedge ends up with the aramor (Curiose gave it to him). Awi
 14. I think that the reason that dst (although her name hasn't come up exactly, it's obvious who we're all talking about) and others have been able to continue to act as they do is that they simply use less words. So I would encourage you to imitate them, Firs, and others who feel as he does. Simply wagging a finger at people in general is about as productive as raking through muck. There are so many actions that you could be taking rather than stating opinions on a forum, no matter how true or accurate those opinions may be. If you believe so strongly in this harassment, why is creating a forum board enough? I'm not one to devalue the power of words, but they have limits, and clearly that limit has been reached. Two ideas: Start a petition. Form a coalition in game that actively works against harassment. Organizing is a lot more productive than this sort of blase complaining. I've seen enough of it. Please do something. Awi
 15. Hello MD, Nearly a year ago, on Day 316 of last year, I rooted myself into the ground and became as you know me now, a tree. In celebration of the first anniversary of that date, on this next Day 316 I will be hosting a smallish celebration. Any and all are welcome. I'm viewing this less of a celebration of myself... and more an excuse to gather people together to have some fun and plant a seed (in all ways) or two. There are no conventional prizes to award, at least that I'm aware of, but if you'd like, stop by during the day, and join in. As per usual, there will be: Stories Poems Discussion Bizarre humor Bad puns And games. As an added note, I would also like it to be the first time that I bear fruit. To accomplish this, I am going to organize a ritual (details and specific time to be announced later). If you would like to participate, come in person and/or bring any of the following: water, fenths, herbs, stones, heat stones, lumber, words, phrases. Hopefully with this organic material and the dedication and words of a large group, something may take place. If you would like to plan anything additional, feel free. Post here, and I'll add you to this first post. Always, Awi
 16. The reason this doesn't, and hasn't, held true is that there is a separation between Community good and Individual good. In the example you gave, since Bob and Eon drew exclusively from their own gardens, Community good and Individual good were the same. Eon clearly lost, because he did not choose the way to best maximize Individual good. Let's fight statistics with statistics. One garden. Two pickers. Whoever has the most herbs wins. Day 1: Eon arrives at the garden first and picks 23. Bob picks none, thinking there will be more tomorrow. Day 2: Eon, due to timezones or activity, picks another. Bob waits. Etc. In the end we can all see that Eon wins, because he picks first, even though his pick each day is measly compared to what they could be getting collectively. Community good would be defined as the total output of herbs into the community, no matter the picker. But few people actually care about that. Let's take another scenario: Bob and Eon agree to pick responsibly, with the rule that they cannot pick more than 2/3 of the herbs each day. A garden of size 25. Day 1: Eon picks 8. Bob has agreed to not pick below 2/3, and picks none. Day 2: Eon picks 8. Bob has agreed to not pick below 2/3, and picks none. etc. Though in this scenario the Community good is vastly improved, Bob still gets no herbs. How sad. Eon still wins, and by an even greater margin. So you can see then how Bob would be motivated to pick MORE than 2/3. And in response, Eon would too. And we'd be back to the original competing scenario, now with a bit of backstabbing grudge thrown into the mixture. As you can see, it matters little to Bob how much the community as a whole gets in terms of herbs. He's simply not getting any, and human instinct is to serve the most personal needs before considering broader and more theoretical ones. You could of course argue that they should each pick 4, and in theory this works well. Community and individual good are maximized and fairly distributed. But how long until the baskets reset and someone who might not be part of this wonderful cooperation takes the basket and upsets the balance? It's mightily unstable. And besides, why would Eon do that? If he's fast enough, he could ensure that he always wins, and with time not seeming to be of much importance in MD, wait around ad infinitum, and always have a monopoly on herbs. With that he could charge as much as he wants - even 32 times the amount that they should be valued at. So if he gets one herb every four days, but sells it at 32 silver, that's the same net money as selling 8 herbs every day for one silver each. And with limited supply, he's more likely to maintain that price of 32, and may even raise it as needs rises. There's a reason that monopoly and money are so close. So yes, I agree with Pip. The answer is one-of-two-or-both: you have the more practical solution of community rules and guidelines, in which those who over-use are punished socially, or the more hopeful scenario where people simply agree to all cooperate (because it works like that right...? remember item pooling? dojos? altruism has a bad track record). Pothos seems to expect the second solution to simply organically occur, based on a single scenario which poorly models the true situation. I don't mean to criticize or debase you completely, but I think we should be focusing on identifying the exploiting community members and think of a fitting punishment. That process would be much expedited with the institution of a Harvest Log, similar to the Trade Logs. And it would generate revenue for MD, since people would have to buy the item from the Md store... Awi
 17. Please, do more quests. This one was well-executed, integrated, and ideologically sound. That's rare. Awi
 18. As an aside, random capitalization doesn't do anything to emphasize your argument. Clear, rational reasoning does that. Awi
 19. dst. duh. Awi PS dst bribed me to nominate her. She really wants to win.
 20. The same error. Now that IS strange. Does every item I code have that? Awi
 21. No - I don't. If anyone wants to come by and test some things, you can find me in game. Awi
 22. It's only some people that get the error. I don't get it, Kets and Amber do. Awi
 23. The following prints onto the page at the bottom of my item the Watering can "ERROR: undefined editing state #err:01167771. ID 1875 u:95773. L:" Ideas? Awi
 24. I know, I've used that wish twice now. But to me the subtitle and the user-submitted info go together. If one should be editable, then so should the other. Besides, we have RPC items already to edit constantly and announce on. Awi
