The Dead Rebellion against the tyrany of Blackshade Rider

Featured Replies

I, Samon, in name of the people of the realm, hereby officially declare an open rebellion of the dead against the tyranny of graveyard keeper Blackshade Rider.

In this post I shall explain the why. Here I will explain what this will mean for the dead in practice.

As many of you know I have spent more time dead than anyone else in this realm. Over the last decade the days I have been alive are few and far between. The dead are more dear to me than anything else in the realm. I have also been the most outspoken opponent to a king in the Dead.

Then why, you might ask, was I there during the protest in the graveyard?

After being appointed graveyard keeper it quickly became clear that Blackshade does fancy himself king of the Dead and does not condone any detractors.

The accusations

A short list of Blackshade Rider's many transgressions in the run up to the protest are:

  1. Countless unprovoked insults to many different people, in particular, but not exclusively, when they showed interest in the Dead.

  2. Involuntary resurrections

  3. Silencing over minor disagreements

  4. Spread lies about his detractors

  5. Threatened the existence of his Necrovion neighbours when they offered cooperation

  6. Shared that he used an exploit to gain more Marigold flowers than he should. This exploit has since been fixed. See: https://magicduel.com/page/Announcement/view/6725

Furthermore Blackshade Rider falsely claimed that he is the only person to care about the dead, despite there being a plethora of people that have been intimately involved with the dead.

  • First and foremost the Caretakers, especially Aelis, Mallos, Sephirah, Lashtal and, until very recently, Ledah and Myself

  • Aside from them, whenever I died I would immediately receive offers of help from Syrian, Seigheart, Fang and many others.

  • And in the past there have been too many more to name all of them.

The protest and its aftermath

Both his behaviour, his violent possessiveness and the appearance of unfair advantages created a lot of anger among the people. So much so that something happening became an inevitability.

This caused 22 people to gather on the day of the protest. Virtually everyone who was awake at the time.

While there were many jokes being made, the sentiment behind the protest was dead serious. My hope was that this would cause some reflection by those who's actions caused this.

The opposite appears true.

In the aftermath:

- The one alliance that has truly consistently cared for the dead has been destroyed under slanderous accusations.

- The meticulously placed marigold flowers have been uprooted and seemingly randomly scattered across a new land.

Not a single shred of self reflection has been shown so far by those who created the situation that led to the protest.

The rebellion

This is why I, in name of the people of realm, see no other option than to start an open rebellion in the Dead until Blackshade Rider has been removed from his position as graveyard keeper and some of the most harmful changes to the dead have been reversed. Finally I demand apologies from both Mur and Blackshade to Aelis and the Caretakers. They have been the most active alliance in MD by far over the past 2 months and I will not stand for this slander.

I will only support Blackshade to retake his position if he shows he can deal respectfully with both the living and the dead and injustice has been rectified.

Praise the shades.

Samon

P.s. While the blame for some of this lays with Mur, there will be plenty of opportunity to discuss that in another thread soon.

Samon,

My offer to help you was sincere, and it remains so. Care for the dead should not depend on allegiance to their keeper, and keeping a graveyard does not make its inhabitants anyone’s possessions.

Mur has given specific reasons for disbanding the Caretakers: no revivals by its members over the last year, no flowers-for-revival cases, and guild tools being lent outside the alliance. If that account is incomplete, then the missing work should be brought forward. Being active and fulfilling the guild’s purpose are not necessarily the same thing.

However, I do not agree with Mur that a lack of effort over the past year warrants dissolving the guild. It warrants addressing that failure, setting clear expectations, and giving its members an opportunity to restore its purpose, not necessarily ending it altogether.

As Master Craftsman of the Maker’s Circle, I believe there is value in restoring something that has fallen into disuse. A guild’s history, knowledge, and purpose should weigh in that decision alongside its recent shortcomings. Restoration still requires people willing to do the work, but I would rather see that opportunity offered before the guild is dismantled.

That does not dismiss your accusations against Blackshade. Reviving people does not excuse mistreating them, just as mistreatment by Blackshade would not, by itself, establish that the Caretakers fulfilled their role. These are separate matters, and both deserve answers.

I cannot speak in the name of the realm, nor am I declaring the Maker’s Circle’s allegiance to this rebellion. I speak for myself: the dead deserve care, their wishes deserve respect, and those entrusted with serving them should be accountable for how they do so.

So over a entire decade what exactly have you even done for the dead? other than be dead?

I find this hilarious considering i have told many time and time again there is no rule of the dead and that there is not meant to bed. Not a single time in game or outside of game have i ever onced claimed i am king of the dead. an i still do not claim such

this is extremely false. Anyone that has shown interest in the dead i have always been more than happy to inform them and help them where needed

Involuntary resurrections

this one you speak of when i revived you with one of my tools. you are a necrovion and it is sad you choose to be dead instead of helping the queen you swore an oath to including being part of the TW alliance

no lies have been spread :)

ah you speak of the pit pat me and Syrian had, but i guess you didnt hear that me and her came to an agreement and that i formally apologized to her for my actions when you wanted to call me names and say i was delusional

Ah yes you speak of the voting links giving ap to the dead and the bounties as well. Well if you actually were around when the dead system was being reworked with me, Azull, and fyrd then you would know that they were Originally a way that was suggested use for the dead to get to far away scenes that would otherwise be completely impossible to get to for needed marigold flowers. But again if you spent the time to actually learn how the dead originally worked during those times then you would know this is not an exploit or abuse. it was intended

what exactly has the care takers done for the dead in the past decade? Nothing. They have done more killing than helping the dead unless its someone of their own.

Ledah has done nothing but kill not help the dead

mallos hasnt even bothered to help the dead he just sits idle 90% of the time

Sephirah has done some well roleplay for the dead, but has rarely been seen actually in the dead

You again what excatly have you done for the dead?

Aelis, before the recent invasion you supported i have not once seen you care to help the dead or show interest

Now lashtal i can not say anything bad about helping the dead. though he could not revive he did offer kill contracts to take revenge/ justice against a player who killed you. And he wasnt even a care taker for this period of doing that

Also this part {{{ The one alliance that has truly consistently cared for the dead has been destroyed under slanderous accusations.}}} Again the caretakers have not done really anything for the dead in the past decade and have mainly done more killing than anything. Caretakers.... Pfff more like death bringers

For this part {{{- The meticulously placed marigold flowers have been uprooted and seemingly randomly scattered across a new land.}}} Absoulutly yes they were uprooted and refitted for the dead. I see no issue in this as this was mainly @Muratus del Mur decision . I dont have the power to do that myself

This is sad that you want to make such demands to me and @Muratus del Mur . Mur of all people know how much work and effort and volunteering i have put into the dead. So again i ask what exactly have you truely done for the dead other than be dead? As for Aelis and the caretakers the outcome is of their own doing. maybe you missed the announcement where @Muratus del Mur stated he launched and official investigation. the disband of the caretakers actually had nothing to do with me and was murs decision based on his investigation.

who and when was it ever said they are possessions. I think you may be delusional in thinking this

Samon was dead on my request, his death was in direct service and help to me. I chose for him to be dead at that moment. His Death was not a counter to his oath.

Your forced revival was the part that was in direct counter to my request and service, and while not intentional i'm sure, you did so without full knowledge or consideration that their might be another reason he was dead at that moment.

As someone that is meant to be a voice of the dead, you did the worst possible thing you could have done, and did not listen.
