  1. I like card games, although I've only played.. one. > It was pretty similar in that cards were sorted into colors and had different characteristics based on their color; I stopped playing it because they began to sell premium cards (this was an online, free multiplayer game). But I plan to test a card game in alpha called alteil. It's supposed to be one of the most popular card games in Japan and has won art awards. Anyway, I'm white. Actually, that made me feel a bit bad; the description of white didn't really appeal to me. I think rules are important, yes, but sometimes I do betray them if I feel it makes sense.. the only thing is that more often my morals and ideals coincide with the law.
  2. Welcome, and feel free to ask questions. Just wondering, why is it that so many people have a MtG color quiz banner in their signature? The only thing I know is that it's a card game.. It must be really fun or something.

But the dark archers can't weaken defence at their max level Only when they can single-target, I think. I wonder if we should be putting spoiler tags?
  4. Well, protector testing went on a while back.. what happened was that there were a couple of different protectors, who generally were older and more experienced than other players, and each player had the option of becoming a worshipper to one specific protector. The more worshippers had the stronger the spells the protectors cast (which included healing and buff). In order to use these spells protectors used heat which players donated or "worshipped." I don't know if it will undergo more testing or if it will be implemented soon, but I think it would be really fun~ I wonder how it would work out with alliances o_o.. like, what if your protector was in a rival alliance? Or maybe your protector will have to be in your alliance. Hmm.. *gets a bit giddy thinking about it*
  5. *cough* How old am I to you? o_o And the "indeed" part.. were you thinking about this before or something? But thank you
  6. Yeah, it serves the same purpose as giving head-owners handicaps on their skills. It's really fun trying to chase people down and I had no problem with it although I was in the leaderboard for the majority of the contest. I don't see the downside of it? Also, it would be bad to give players a penalty for inactivity.. I mean, if no one can get ahead of someone who is inactive in the first place, then something is seriously wrong or that player deserves all of his/her points.
  7. I think it the most reward you can get is of 4k heat.. but having 6 devices is nice if you're going to donate heat to protectors.

They do! You can use them to weaken def all.. no other creature in my knowledge can do that. I use mine all the time~ Archers and knators are good to deal the damage.
  9. I did, but I just continued to do it. Didn't really bother me that much. It seems like Manu changed it in the latest newslog update.

Alright. The grasan is a good creature.. good luck.
  11. Ah, in that case you can see both level one and two avatars.. thing is, if there's more than a certain amount (16, I think), you can only see that certain amount. Level two avatars get priority, and you're most likely to not see avatars that were released the longest time ago.

Maybe more detail would help x_x Did the creature page show the option to upgrade? Usually what happens is that after all the criteria is met (you can see what you need if anything in the creature description, which you can reach by clicking the creature's picture), there is a golden ring around the icon of the creature. You're supposed to click and then at the bottom right corner of the creature description page there should be a button that allows you to upgrade it. Did you click that button? What happened after that? Or did you think that you could upgrade it just by clicking the picture or something? Or if you saw the golden ring but didn't see the button after that, you could have lost the stats that is needed to upgrade it by the time you clicked the icon. Are you sure you didn't get in a fight and didn't notice that you lost value points? Stats don't refresh and update immediately; there is a circle-counter for that above the Live Help button that ends when the bar reaches 12 o'clock. Or maybe that lost vitality was enough to make you unable to upgrade it, since you do need a certain amount.
  13. What third level? o_o I though there were only two. Like, when you don't have any avatar feature at all you can see a few lvl 1 avatars and can't buy them. That's sort of a preview thing to get people interested. Then you can buy the first avatar feature, which allows you to see (and pick any of) all of the level 1 avatars, which are black and white only. The second avatar feature allows you to see level 2 avatars, which have a little gold color in some part of them. I'd want to know about a third avatar feature

It's not like the choice necessarily has to be "evil".. in the first place, a player should have the right to play in whatever manner he or she would like to, and should not be punished because of different morals. I've played a couple different routes and I think I lost more stats "on the good side" than when I was choosing the moderate options. For instance, I think that because I chose some things that could be considered rash ( ), I lost trade sense. If it is based on morals, then I don't think it's right. In any case, making one decision that gives you -stats can give you something else that is positive in return.. So there is really no bad choice that I can think of; don't know what the others are saying.

Ah.. you should be in free roam, and during free roam you can be attacked or attack. You can lose honor when you attack and win against someone with a greater loss:win ratio than you, or a little if you lose when defending. Would that be it? x_x
  16. I remember the last time I did the Berserker Puzzle I got an error message when I solved it, but I don't remember exactly what it was. I had to redo it, but it wasn't too much trouble. Try clicking on it again.. what happens? If a message pops up, put it in spoiler tags if you're going to post it here. If it's still the puzzle, you have to resolve it.

    1. It seems like there are a lot who can't use the forum properly with this new skin. You can change it at the bottom of the page; there is a drop-down menu that should say Enlighten (Import). 2. They shouldn't disappear with time, but recently there was a balance and honor reset that came with a new fighting system that was implemented for mp4 and 5. It was announced in the newslog on under the heading [2008-06-07 14:57:24 - Alpha 6]. 3. Above the Live Help button and below all of your stats, you should see a little circle with a bar making a trip around it. When the bar reaches 12 o'clock all the stats refresh and are updated. If you're too impatient, you can refresh the page or click and exit something that will make the interface reload, like your pms. Usually after I spam the health bar of a monster I reload the monster page so I don't have to wait. I assume this is to reduce the stress on the server.
  18. Speaking of that >_> I don't know if I complained about this earlier, but Gilbert in mp5 took ~400 heads and none of us could attack him because of that same thing. So after we complain a bit, Gilbert is informed about this change, and STF and ome begin a wonderful chat about this coming-of-age and initiation into the giants of magicduel while we sulk. I don't think it was assigned improperly, but it would have been nice if he had been notified before he began taking heads or if that action was made impossible. Recently more and more have become like this, like alche and some other people I don't remember. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but going from the chat Gilbert, STF and ome had, I think that there's a chance a lot of new rpcs are going to appear (like a shopkeeper). Could be wrong.
  19. Well, there are definitely worse books. But I don't read them~ IMO.. those holes were pretty large..
  20. The idea derives from several different stories in multiple mythologies; there are countless examples. It's also used in fantasy work a lot. Okay, this is a bit off-topic, but ugh, Eragon. That series got to be one of the worst fantasy series I read.. I can't believe a movie was made of it. Reminds me of Harry Potter. Especially in the second book. Well in any case, I don't want to spoil it for anyone, even if it is horrible in my opinion, so I'm not about to complain in detail.
  21. Really? I thought he meant that even after we go out of alpha, a lot of things would still be changing (but it would still go through beta and into official).. but still, the main things like the battle system and whatnot would become fixed in alpha. In any case, the problem is that wikipedia wants notability for the subject of any of their articles, and magicduel doesn't really hasn't been significantly received by game critics or become well-known. But usually that stuff comes after alpha, if even in beta.
  22. I like to think it is nice that we're all close enough to tell each other frankly what we mean. *cough* I only wish Lulu would stop badgering me when I speak like that in real life.. I can understand what Thanasia is saying. Let's just call it Tree. It's even capitalized in the topic.
  23. I agree with chewett about Manu's plans. However, if wikipedia is strict about following its notability guidelines Eldrad was talking about (post #28), then I'm not so sure they'd accept any article we'd write up. Eventually, maybe (I'm inclined to think probably), since I believe magicduel will attract attention with its unique concepts. This is an odd kind of alpha.. a lot of major things are being tested, many plans still have to be implemented and the game is far from beta testing, I would think. Yet the game is open to the public and magicduel even needs advertising to increase the player count. Well, I think some things need a large amount of players for testing so that the results will accurately represent what it would be like with the amount of players magicduel is supposed to have when it's finally done testing, but in any case it's an interesting predicament: trying to publicize it while it's still in alpha and undergoing major changes constantly. I think things will be fine without a wikipedia article with regular advertising until magicduel actually goes out of alpha.
  24. I'm not sure the first idea suggested by Ratsplat is the best, because sometimes the area has landmarks in the background from another area (like Wind Tower when you're going from Marind Bell to MDA), and switching the arrows would make it contradictory. They are a bit confusing at first but I got used to them pretty quickly. Sometimes I still waste a bit of AP going in the wrong direction, though. The color-coding idea is fine except it would kind of irk me because it would imbalance the amount of color in whatever place the arrow which leads to the area you came from is. What that what chewett was saying? Dark gray doesn't break with magicduel's color scheme, if that's what chewett meant. In any case, I would prefer some other kind of marking to differentiate which arrow leads to the previous area, maybe bolding the arrow or making it slightly opaque. Well, it would be fine if all the arrows would display the name of the area it leads to when hovered over, too.
