IMPORTANT - Future way of granting titles/roles

Darn, I am too slow for this topic. It seems that some others had some ideas that match part of what I thought but I still keep the entire text. Here it is : This looks like the list of achievents. And I think that the implementation I think it is a combination between - achievements - as you will have multiple titles (granted on achievements, different degrees ...) - items - because they will be granted to you (untradable) and will have actions attached to them or not - tags - as it should display one of the tags (at your choice). - loialty - it will increase with time during tag "validity" ; in the end loialties are just a list of "powers" The fair thing would be to convert the current tags to these roles with no other power attached. Ppl worked for their tags. An addon : in personal page, there is at least one [doc] that is not used. Maybe you can add it as a list of these Titles Having the list of tags ... maybe the "jailed" tag could be kept. I think Mur said once that being jailed should affect you somehow and should remain in your history (or something like that). You should be able to choose between different tags / achievemnts / titles / roles to display it while clicking your char's name in chat. But I still don't have an idea on how to use these titles except if you consider these titles as loialty and then they'll increase some counters. I still don't understand the need for such behavior. Anyway, do you know that there are locations with the tag "no jump" ? You can "hide" there to be safe from any teleports if you are so scared.

@Rophs: yea, something like that. @Rhaegar: hmm, I guess I missinterpreted your intent. My mistake. Anyway, the summons are pretty fine like they are and as limited and few as they are. And ... I think that there are a few locations (no spoilers here) where one can get trapped in its own land if it wouldn't be the simple teleports.

Nice idea, I wonder what pissed you off. [spoiler] [/spoiler] Anyway, I am against such protection from behalf of "land". Why ? because except from the very few & rare occasions when you DON'T want to be dragged away, there are at least 10-20 occasions when you DO. Yea, I am lazy and I want to be able to use the spells that I bought / buy but because someone got afraid of being killed by a king he prevented everyone from using jumps (that are so rare). Thank you , but unless you have a better motif , I'll vote for NO. Edit : [spoiler] [/spoiler] @Rophs: do you know any king that would do such low / dishonorable things ? If so ... then that king should not be a king or the kings should be able to drag someone from another land allegiance without their consent. And this sounds a bit better (I think).

Pfiew, this is a long post. Sorry. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, if you want all the replies on same topic ... here it is : [spoiler] [/spoiler] Here are my answers to "The list" 1. "wild creatures / NPCs" are enough as they are right now ; and the idea was disregarded in the past due to lack of / to encourage interaction between the ppl of MD. 2. "buddy mentoring system" ... see the "Your progress for today" page and look for "Here you can change who you are the adept of:". There is nothing one can do in programming to enforce the system you'd like. If you think something can be coded ... please write some as I can't think of anything right now. Also : Mentoring require interaction between a master and a pupil. Having as master a RP-er, you'll learn to RP; having as master a master fighter you will learn to fight but only if you ask. Knowledge is required but not enforced in this game. 3. "8h idle more" , useless. There are not enough ppl that like to be clobbered for 6h not to say 8. You'll notice that most MP5 are either scattered all over the realm or idling in sanctuaries. (Ppl learn by MP5 the usefulness of sanctuaries and the consequences of not using it) Also, you should talk with RP-ers that preach to new players to stay at low MP due to MP5 pummeling. 4. "real war mechanism". Please give more details on this subject. 5. "classlike system of fighting" . Please give more detail on this subject. I think that you could achieve this by using specific illusions . It would require lots of work. Lets hear what you meant by this subject. (I added some lines below that could be related to the light of discussions triggered by this proposal of yours. You should read that too before answering.) 6. "gradual viscosity on new players" is in opposition to viscosity concept. The viscosity was conceived to keep ppl together at first and with age to give then the ability / capability to travel and it was designed specifically for new players to keep them from experiencing the entire realm too fast That is all I could reply for the moment to 1st post of Sunfire. [spoiler] [/spoiler] As of my knowledge there is no way to split the players by won/loss ratio. I know that you might say that if you have lots of loses it is because you're a noob but it is not true. You will notice that true grinders have a great imbalance in order to enjoy the "younger players". Also, splitting them by number of wins is also not very useful (again due to a feature not to be spoiled here) that will prevent the increase of number of wins/loses. Also, giving an advantage to those with low honor skill damage is not fair. There are many that want to be there, due to the availability of targets and laziness and careless play. It is not fair for one to be penalized because others that don't want to learn or want to play like that. (you will find "sadistic" players that would go there on purpose just to hurt others) This is stupid : "Maybe a new thing could be added making it impossible to attack someone if he gives you over -X neg honor" There is already a restriction for this. If you would try to get balanced, which i guess you didn't , you will NOT attack ppl witch give you neg honor. You know why, because, as you said "When reaching too much neg honor you dont gain anything." . So ... your request doesn't stand. Also, if you do attack someone witch give you high neg honor , you are already penalized (but if you do attack, you accept this penalty) , so ... why should you get penalized even more ? But if you do want a better solution, you should know that incentives work better then punishments. My counter proposal ("incentive proposal") to you is like this : 1. when attacking one on "skill damage" range, you should get a warning in red (i think this is already implemented) 2. if defending and losing to a player in "skill damage" range, you should also get some stats as incentive (never no more then 0.01 on same stats as the attacker gets) 3. while attacking a player in "skill damage" range, if notified before (see point 1) you should get only half the stats but the one with skill damage should still lose them as they do right now. Having implemented the above, if ppl are still lazy to get above the -1000 loses ... then there is nothing you can implement to help them. Again: if you have ideas that could be implemented to help them (but not to hinder the real players) then .. please post them. I'd like to know them myself. Edit: fixing some numbers & typos

Yes Rophs, write a comprehensive paper on the subject. As already said in a few other topics, not many ppl read long posts :) and especially not Mur or Chewett @Mur: That would be interesting indeed: "few" "some" "several" "plenty", and how will you be able to do trades if you don't know exactly how much will the other one offer you ? Just for the thought. And to complete your sentence, please correct me if I am wrong: "the way resources are balances how easy they are to be gathered" ; it is not in the current plan to make it easier to trade them nor to make it easier for the grinders. Don't worry, I don't mind and I am still encouraging the mass trading ( in large volumes ). @Rophs : don't bother splitting the resources, PM me with what you have to trade and I might be able to offer you water / stones / smth else for your large amounts of resources.

The offer was of 1k water. You'd have to come close to that amount. Gather some more and you might have a chance for the next offers. I doubt that I will ever make a trade for less then 100. So start gathering something.

I know that I've raised this before here and that it was argued and made a new features but I still think that this would be better place for the information. [spoiler] [/spoiler] Ackshan, you are asking the exact questions that most MD ask and you are right to ask them : - why all this fuss on such a small matter - why this when there were other bigger - the penalties are to huge when they did almost nothing - it is not dst's job to give the penalties - some are ostracized by you (dst) - and after all ... which is an abuse and which is not ? This is exactly why ALL abuse should reported on the forum. As dst said above, most of her job goes unseen and directly to the council following properly & long since established way . In order to answer to all the questions listed above, all she needs to do is to write ALL the reports on forum. Then you will understand. I will not even try to argue your reasons or anyone else for contesting her topics (I do have slipups). I only try to see the gravity of her report and the impact on MD / MD ppl. That is all we all have to see and learn to see. There is nothing "so unimportant that doesn't need to be reported"; everything has to be reported. The council is the one that will say if it is a bug/abuse and will be fixed or if it will stay like that even if it should be avoided. It is not us / dst to assume the "council"'s job. In return to her job, all you do is to argue her "reasons", not the "proofs" and in the end the most ostracized person on the forum is still dst. Did you ever considered that the only "reason" for reporting a bug / abuse is that it is the correct / fair way ? Have you ever considered to give her a rewards for being the oldest and most constant in her role ? ------------------------------- Now a little philosophy: "The past is the past." --- correct when you talk about the past actions --- incorrect when you are talking about the actions that are continued in the present --- incorrect & highly unfair when you talk about a person. Your past is what you are and will be. If you don't have a past you don't exist. For example, I can talk to you Ackshan just because in the past you chose to name yourself Ackshan. If we are to ignore that information ... then we would be ... like molecules of water in the ocean = a nobody.
