Happy Birthday Big Meat Muscle Mountain
Burns replied to Blackwoodforest's topic in Say hello, Goodbye, or something else
Happy Birthday =D -
Option 2 plus bonus: Severly increase the xp requirements for the 'big' creatures: Drachorns and Angiens. And i don't mean severely like 20k, more like severely 700k-800k.

Why don't you simply start with entering Necrovion? There are some places that are actually locked, as in you don't go there-locked. Most places are just limited, as in you haven't found the password-locked. There are various ways to enter Necrovion, yet you simply state that it's locked, and are done with it. If you go around and about and tell yourself 'Oh, that looks nice, i wonder what to do with it, oh, no point-to-point instructions, i guess it's nothing', you'll be done with MD very fast. Even the hard quests are most simple tasks you can find in MD, because they tell you what to do. Most riddles don't tell you that they even are riddles.

How could one forget crazy eggs? =D Drop by at MDP, Rent-a-void and dst occassionally talk, too

Mur has means to celan the mess afterwards, and we have means to spot the mess before people get that far. It always takes a case of severe abuse for Mur to start actually doing something, because a mathmatical problem doesn't really reach his poet-soul. He is too creative, and too firmly believes in humanity, to change things when dst comes and says that something might turn into a problem. But now, he will do something, don't worry^^

I disagree. I'm absolutely in favor of giving people power, also power that affects other players. That's what makes MD dynamic and interesting. If it was only about beating the high-score, it would be just another bbg on a big market. BUT with power comes responsibility. Like, some people can ban others, and use it responsible. Mur can do anything, and uses his powers responsibly (even though i don't always agree with what he does). Others want the power, but don't have what it takes to use it responsibly. That is the problem, not the power itself.

Also, i'd like to point you to a simple, yet easy to 'forget' flaw in your arguments: Whatever stats an mp5 musters, is of no concern to any other mp5. Because stats don't make fights on our level, they only do on mp4. Obviously, you can't and won't win a brute force battle against a player stronger than you, but you never can do that. You can beat rituals, though, specially the ones backed by a lot of stats. An example: Long long time ago, Mur used his magical abilities to get himself what we called 'steroid stats', 3 million attack and defence. No one almost killed him, his best result was 0-98,9 if i remember correctly. So, yeah, stats are all cool and stuff, and i can much easier train new creatures with them, but they are absolutely not a requirement to fight well. MP4 is just long enough to get a decent stock of creatures, if you don't waste time and energy gathering attack and defence and VE. Creatures make rituals, stats are merely a supporting factor. You haven't been to mp5 to see things yourself, spare for a test account that has nothing, is nothing and is never go to be anything. If you took the time to try and _be_ mp5, you'd find it surprisingly easy to beat other mp5, specially those with high VE. That's not the same on mp4, because on mp4, people advance with a lot less eloquent tools. And they never learn to use them properly once they have them, because by then they are tops of mp4 with simple, blunt strategies. Also, another thing that glitched your mind, i haven't ever intended to use means that might hurt anybody who doesn't deserve it. My attacks are unholy smart, not traps little newbies can fall into. If i try to cap, say, Bronzometh, Bronzometh gets capped. And all the people around Bronzometh don't even know i was there. When february wants to beat, say, dst, dst might be beaten. And 2-3 mp3 who are not aware of the threat get hit, too, and much more devasting than dst.

[s]I like the saccing limit, but would suggest tweaking it so that only sacrifices of lvl 2 or higher go into consideration for that, for exactly the reason Shadow pointed out: they might buy too many souls, grasans and aramors before knowing that there is more.[/s] Ohhh, scratch that, i love Fyrd's idea! =D No gains for saccing creatures on mp3! Perfect! =)
disadvantage for new players since they will have no chance to greatly improve their VE,
Exactly my point. Newbies don't need more than 5k VE, if at all. When they get to mp5, they can still get more if they feel like.
(extracts of http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/5817-low-leveling/) Me: Creature Limit, either by level in general (which i don't like, really), or with specific creatures (DA2, drach hatchlings, angiens lvl3, probably ani tree 3, specifications can always be discussed and changed at later times) Fenrir (post 4): Mp3s should be restricted to public creatures only. But not the max levels. Daemon (post 15): Do not allow MP3 to have tokens, leave tokens for MP4 and 5 only. Make creatures MP level specific and only allow them to be transferred up in MP level, not down.
Another thing i could imagine is a sacrificing limit. On mp3, you can't do more than... say... 10 sacrifices. I don't like the stat penalty idea, mainly because newbies wouldn't know when it applies, i'd rather like the honor-thingy fixed so far that over-attacking weak players is unattractive in the long run. One man decisions... yeah, i like that. As long as you're that one man, i wouldn't trust any king, or even Grido, with that power. No offence, but we guys are not nice, and play far too much with the newbies to have an objective picture of the situation.
If you don't want to see people stuck in mp3 forever why don't you start petition about making mp3 time limited?
I wouldn't disagree with that, and proposed various methods in the past, but most of the time, the old mp3 have common sense, like Yoshi and Kyphis. It's not like i wouldn't have wanted those to advance faster, too, but at least they set themselves with defences that don't strike back at all times. I don't think that one person is enough to have a system changed, specially when it takes almost a year to get into such a position. Only few are still that ignorant of any common sense after such long time.

I most definitely don't have to prove how many mp3 exactly were capped just like that. I can mathmatically prove exactly how many xp an mp3 gets when attacking february, and at least 3 mp3 have IN MY PRESENCE, which is at the moment rather little, asked what an energy burn was, who had no clue whatsoever about the xp they gathered just until they were pointed to it. Each and every newbie who quits after reaching mp4 with lvl 1 creatures is one too many. Also, crossreading the old posts in here, there's something i feel the urge to add: In all races, cultures, and religions of the civilized world, those who assault children get jailed for a long time, or killed. MP3 are nothing other than the kids of MD, and you try to argue that we are just too closeminded to see how great feb is for assaulting them? Maybe my morals are narrow indeed, but when people hurt or kill children, i do wish for death penalty in my civilized culture once again.

Due to beign locked out while writing, here we go again =D This was supposed to be in http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/7831-the-bad-ass-mp3-strikes-back/. Read it that way. During the production of those pics, 20 mp3 were capped. I don't care if there's an mp3 account that can beat me, anybody can, no big deal. I'm bothered by that account still being mp3. If it was mp5, i wouldn't care. If it was mp3 and always hidden/never online, i wouldn't care either. But since it is mp3, online, and putting that rit up in MDP, i'm bothered. In fact, i'm so bothered that i complain in accordance to following rule:
Any repeated complain from multiple unique users will get some kind of unwanted action on you, try not to offend people, or to cause a mess in general
There. I complained. About february hurting newbies, the only resource MD really, really needs. I wonder how many pages it takes to have enough complaints to make february mp5, or stripped of his angiens.

I'm willing to bet drachorns on that script, it has been running properly in MD for months now

First of all, thanks for reminding me to put my quest back in the quest-list, i forgot that it expires in one week, not two xD Other than that, i'm afraid that far more than half of the quests, both current and all-over, can be tagged in few groups: find, write, decipher, and fight. Some quests mix things a bit, some are plain, some spice things with questions (which are unfortunately always ridiculous for vets and mind-disturbing for the newbies), but in the end, almost everything goes under those headings. And when there are 'more' quests, like, 12 at a time like it was back then, they all go in one direction. It's search and destroy, search and answer, answer, sometimes even just search at times, or it's poetry, half-novels, short stories, or it's ciphers, self-made codes, even 2-3 layers of different coding over the plain text, or it's win, victory, beat. There are hardly any questmakers who get over those categories, and the few who do don't make a lot of quests due to the nature of them, it's simply extremely exhausting and time intensive to create quests outside of the scheme, as you, Kafuuka, know very well. I don't say there's JUST those quests, but they definitely are dominant, and they ARE recurring if you wait long enough. They get a face-lift and use better scripts, but the basis of many, many quests is still and will probably always be the same 4 points: find, write, decipher, and fight.

you're lucky, i still have the pieces i wrote for apricot's quest^^
@vs=mds_storage('apricotacounter', 'totu'); @vt=mds_storage('apricotacountall', 'toau'); //you'd need to set it aoau and give the stores different names or numbers @va=@storage[@vs]; //set storeages @temp= array ('name' => @uv('name'), 'lenght' => @va); @storage[@vt][@uv('id')] = @temp;} //set up and store arrays for each user
Set that up in all of the 9 clickies, and have the 10th running following:
@va=mds_storage('apricotacountall', 'toau'); @vb=mds_storage('apricotacountall1', 'toau'); @vc=mds_storage('apricotacountall2', 'toau');//_load all stores and so on... if (@uv('id')==53832){ //use your own id there foreach(@storage[@va] as @vl) echo "".@vl['name']. " needed ". @vl['lenght']. "<br>";} //echo all the names and numbers of all stores used if (@uv('id')==53832){ foreach(@storage[@vb] as @vl) echo "".@vl['name']. " needed ". @vl['lenght']. "<br>";} if (@uv('id')==53832){ foreach(@storage[@vc] as @vl) echo "".@vl['name']. " needed ". @vl['lenght']. "<br>";} and so on...
It's simple, we run a kind of quest, and then we get bored of it. Then we run another kind of quest for some time, until we get bored again. Usually, somebody leads the way, and everybody does similar quests for a period, and then it's over, until somebody figures out a new style again. In time, you get every style, but it takes patience, and determination, because quests with a known pattern will be solved by the people who already solved them before, because they know the pattern.

Happy b-day Madi! =D
Epic: - Dark Archer receives 156703 energy burn (luck: double effect) (attacking creature consumes 26119 Ve and remains with 9333 Ve) creature DIES! Epic: thats wat u did to me
used on an mp3 with 9 days. According to Epic, he got 100.000 xp in this one fight. Obviously, not for his creatures. [apart from that, YAY, i learned how to use quote-syntax xD]

My experience with college is slightly different, which may be the case because our college is paid for by the state, we need just about 5 g a year to live fairly good in college, easily made with a parttime job and summer jobs. Therefore, almost nobody here goes to explore the world and find themselves before college, we do it during college, and it's great. If you have any clue what you wish to do, start right away. Coming from school, you'll usually be highly motivated to take tons of courses at once, my friends and me started with 40 credits in the first semester and took another 30 in the second, and still had far more time to party than ever before, and the parties are... awesome. By now, we reached the higher circles of our specific studies and take two-three exams (mind you, not courses, we hardly visit, let alone attend them anymore) each semester, which is a lot of work, but work you can schedule yourself, and therefore, we still have a lot of spare time for girlfriends, parties, and even binge-drinking every now and then. If you have totally no clue what you want, take the first semester as orientation and just randomly step into classes and find out if it's interesting. Over here, people mostly do economics or laws when they don't know where to turn, economies because it sheds a different light on the world for most, called utilitarism, and laws because the first semesters are like advanced rhetoric courses, and also strenghten your morals with scientific background. Psychology is fun, too, but only if you are interested in that, not so much because it's helpful for other courses of study^^

What Mur meant with that is that the learning-process ends in mp5. By then, you don't fight anymore, but use battles as tools to reachs your targets, you basically know what's going to happen in a battle before you hit the button. He didn't mean that battling each other was not common on mp5 anymore, just look at all the collectors and people who grind stats for one reason or another. And to become mp6, you need to reach the experience cap in mp5, which once was the work of half a year

Happy Birthday Zleiphneir

happy b-day goat boy ^^ -
Aren't we all magic? We could let them drink the water, that way they can transport it... of course, there's a tight limit on it's useage, how long can you hold water? Also, i think the Well of Tears is empty. Wouldn't bet on it, but last time i checked, Marvolo was standing pretty well and rather dry down there for some time^^

I'd like to repeat my previous post, because them archers simply suck at doing what they are designed to do... 90 piercing is even too little to be favorized over a grasan on mp3, and their aimed-hit-percentage is too low to make them better than an ele against high ve. If you just kinda... turned the screws a bit and waited for reactions, you'd definitely find a much more interesting version. Or simply allow them to get influence stats, then their piercing gets a whole lot more interesting, specially against two certain kinds of rituals
