  1. What I mean there is for example, someone teleporting a group to the herb basket collection point, they grab baskets then attack the caster, who has prepared a super weak defence, and then mass teleport all over the realm ready to deplete resources. Whiplash teleportation - teleporting twice for the price of one spell. I mean, now that I've said it it will almost definetly happen. The point is to punish that sort of behaviour. Sides, you can already do stuff like I gave in that example, all it takes is one person to go to the collection point and sent ITC's. This just also means players can't move easily for a long period of time, coupled with Viscosity you might be able to go one location every 10 minutes if you try and do this, instead of the already existing distribution method which leaves you with full mobility - enough to get halfway through any land in the real aside from LotE before you have to wait for regen.
  2. Eh. I'm *pretty* sure the mods would have acted swiftly to prevent anyone posting links to rom sites ;) They are pretty on the ball with this sort of thing.
  3. Title granting authorities can do exactly this, within reason (except for the firing part, and even then within reason if you word it correctly - which is easy) I speak as an Archivist. Hypothetical: Someone may work for years to earn a role in MD, and they may deserve it and fulfil it perfectly, both to your and the communities expectations. But then life might get in the way, and they might be away for three years. Because they fulfilled their role so perfectly, you did not give their old role - a role that was important to the social health of MD - to anyone else. But when they return, because no one has done that role for three years, only the ancient vets even know that players name. With no one doing the role, new players do not even realize such a role exists, or could exist. Because they do not know it exists, no one asks about it, so there is no discussion and no memory. Is it better for a players role - and thereby the memory of their entire existance in MD - be forgotten than to have that role be renewed? One of the most common questions I get asked (aside from "tell me a story") is the history of my role as Land Leader. And not in terms of myself, but of those who came before. They see me having a role, and they want to know how it was before I had this role. And so Pamplemousse, Je Souis ous fous, and Renavoid, as well as all the others who contributed to running the MDA like Yami, are remembered. Before you put the statue up, did you try asking people in Marble Dale Park or the Gazebo of Equilibrium who Cutler was? Do you think Alche would be remembered without Alche's Alley? These people, who once played a huge role in MD, barely exist anymore. I say it is better for a role to be renewed, so that people can learn about the past of the role and all who strove for its existance, rather than letting it be forgot. True, for some like Alche and Awiiya we have things that exist because of their role. And true, for people like Wodin, BigC, and Khalazdad, the AL preserves a small piece of their memory. But in this current era, there is no AL, and there are few named entities. The history of many roles is being lost, because the role itself is lost. And when that happens, the player might as well have never existed. EDIT: Obviously not all roles deserve to be refreshed. There will always be a need for roles in the nature of "Only you will get to try this, fail and the role dies with you". Obviously >.>
  4. I personally think you should always maintain a desire to reward those that stand out - but only when you are in touch properly with both the person in question, the reason they stand out, and the communities attitude. The community can be wrong, and almost always is, I find, but there is always a reason for them to have the perception they have. The fact that you can achieve things through actual effort in MD is one of the reasons I still recommend it to people I meet. But just because someone has one aspect perfectly aligned to a task does not make them suitable - it is the sum of their parts that makes them suitable, and you generally wont see all the many minor aspects that run perpendicular with just a snapshot. Sometimes "soon" is better than now.
  5. Just a quick bit of a legal thing here.... Emulators are almost always legal, Roms are almost always not. There are conditions that allow you to legally have Roms (for example, if I have a physical copy of Pokemon Yellow I can legally have a rom of pokemon yellow in some - but not all - countries), but to avoid any legal problems I'll stress that people should NOT post links to sites that allow you to download roms. We don't want MD to get in trouble, after all.
  6. Same. Very interesting to see how someone envisions the principles on a symbolic level, whether I agree with the representation or not :P
  7. Fair points, and I'd agree with a singular change - when fighting across MP levels, no stats are changed (temporary or permanent, personal or creature). This to prevent useing such a side effect for training purposes. That said, it shouldn't require cross MP level combat, as you can have someone else fight for you. Additionally, the goal is not to make such spells useless, just moderately less crippling.
  8. To get back onto the topic discussion of the Cooldown for Teleport spells, rather than the flame war this has largely become: Disclaimer - I do not like the idea of a change to teleport spells, and I do not support the idea I am about to present. I do recognize the need that something needs to change - I would just prefer this be a social shift rather than a mechanical shift. Idea: When a player casts a teleport spell with a group array (that is to say, a spell that Has targeted multiple players, not simply one that Can target multiple players), the caster be teleported to the target location as well and movelocked and attack locked for 2(X) minutes, where X is the number of players teleported including themselves. If a target defeats the caster with fight cause [resistteleport], they are returned to their original location with AP reduced to 0 (to prevent intentional whiplash teleportation abuse). Feedback: I am aware that Eon is a powerful player, however it has been a long time since he has been the most powerful. This suggestion is intended as a general solution, not as a specific counter to Eon - I think such a reactionary action is completely incorrect and will typically not be part of a discussion on such a topic. However, for the sake of completionism, I will offer the following. Idea Extension: A non-target player may attack the caster with fight cause [resistteleport-"playername"] to exact the same effect as if the target player had performed the attack. If the input playername was not a target of a teleport spell by the caster, or is not currently in the same location as the combatants, then the fight cause has no effect. Feedback: This extension has an additional possibility - preventing players who wish to be teleported from having such occur when teleported as part of a group. This is potentially useful for land defense, offensive actions, and wars; as well as general social sabotage.
  9. When you have a prolific online personality and the MD pages still come up first on google >.>
  10. To get back onto topic a little.... I agree completely with Ivorak and Chewett, as well as council. It is no secret I am on reasonably friendly terms with dst and Eon, but I say this irrelevant of all those involved - I also have no reason to dislike Dark Demon, nor suspect he bears me any ill will. There are most definetly social solutions to this problem. Chewet has demonstrated that, in the past, Eon has chosen not to interfere in events he is fully capable of ruining simply because he was asked. And while yes, it could be argued that he only did it because it was Chewet asking, I would disagree with this. I've known Eon to not mess with quests even when asked by someone he disliked, for the simple reason that asking shows at least a modicum of politeness and respect. To suggest another solution to this problem beyond what Ivorak suggested - if you suspect so strongly that someone will interfere in a quest to the point that you can say you "know" they will... why not ask them to? Why not encourage them to turn this destructive tendancy into a constructive element of the quest? Instead of having Eon randomly teleport, trap, or kill your contestants with no reason, why not encourage him to do it in a constructive way? If you can agree to a framework, then you could even have rules the participants can follow to avoid this happening - for example if Eon posts a [.] in their scene they get 30 seconds to RP fight him off before he murders them. Both Eon and dst have proven themselves to be highly reasonable individual over the several years I have known them. They may have a tendancy to be complete and utter [whatever swear you think fits] a lot of the time - but that doesn't preclude them from being people, being reasonable, or treating others with politeness and respect.
  11. Archivists. We record things. And then toss those records on the unsorted stack. Seriously, Archivists - not Librarians. Dewie hasn't met us yet. Honestly though, we mainly research whatever takes our fancy and discuss things of an intellectual nature, as well as help people with Quest text and coding (sorry I have been so busy Eagle - Halloween is a busy time for us :P)
  12. Given that at 5x max VE the creatures power is 0; you clarified that negative values get zeroed; and 5x a Darkfire V's VE would be 15000, yes at 1mill VE its power would be 0. That said, most of the time you have considerable control over how much VE is likely to be involved in a fight, so its pretty easy to anticipate.
  13. New Premium Creature - Darkfire Elemental
  14. To help get into the Halloween mood, I would like to propose a new Premium Creature. I look forward to hearing peoples thoughts in the comments below. Name - Darkfire Elemental Premium colours - Black/white/silver (why yes, an almost uncoloured coloured creature, what ever will they say?) Aura - Power of creatures in your ritual decreases as their health increases [and increases as their health decreases] Aura mechanic - -1% total power for every +5% maximum creature health [meaning a maximum bonous of +19% power for extremely low health, while a creature with 5x maximum life has its power reduced to 0] (To clarify, this aura effects your own forces - not your opponents) Creature families that use the power stat: Angien, Remains, Barren Soul, Elemental, Lore Archer, Santa, Nutcracker, Seed, Priest, Water Daimon. Ritual benefits - Primarily a novelty handicap against oneself, it also allows the creation of high VE/Low power rituals, presenting greater avenues for MP4/5 players to achieve victories in combat. Primary tactical advantages include reducing the rate at which Angiens immolate themselves (high VE=low power, a reversal of their mechanic); Reducing the beneficial effect Priests deal to the opponent; and Reducing the rate at which lifestealers steal life (necessary for defending against Lore Archers) Depending on whether a negative power value has any effect on creature behaviour (IAB should be able to inform on this readily), it may result in creatures that normally heal dealing damage to your forces. Thankyou Ary for clarifying that negative stats are zeroed. Creature Stats (deviation from standard creature): Darkfire Egg - No deviation Darkfire Elemental I - 600VE (+200); Defence 10 (-5) Darkfire Elemental II - 800VE (+200); Defence 15 (-5); 6 Power (+5) Darkfire Elemental III - 1100VE (+300); Defence 15 (-5); 8 Power (+6) Darkfire Elemental IV - 1600VE (+600); Defence 18 (-7); 10 Power (+6) Darkfire Elemental V - 3000VE (+1000); Defence 22 (-13); 12 Power (+4)
  15. Having an official capacity does not prevent you from posting as a person. In the same way that a Forum mod can weigh in on a discussion they have an opinion on as a person, and not as a mod, a land leader can speak out on a topic without being a land leader - the same as I am doing now. This topic might mention land stuff, but it is on a personal level, not on a leader level. And its also in the general forums, not the land forums. It ought to be plain from the way it is written that this is a post written by the person behind Mya, not the Land Leader that that person plays the role of. As someone who I generally consider intelligent I'm surprised you did not make that distinction yourself, although given you have in the past expressed the difficulties of English as a non-native speaker (and yes, English is an awful language, even if you *are* a native speaker), I can understand why you failed to. Hopefully I have helped clarify this point for your future perspective.

  17. Timeless topics never die. Conspiracy Theory: The sun is held aloft by three Angiens. However, because Angiens are lazy argumentative little sots, and they would rather watch the crazy things we get upto than actually do their job, the sun never really leaves the sky. The only reason we ever get night at all is because 'ol man Chewett waves his Angien Bone Sword-Cane at them every few weeks, and they scamper off in fear. ... Seriously, don't mess with Chewett - he doesn't have those medals pinned to his chest for nothing, and he earnt that sword cane for his valor in The Great Code War, against the bugs and inefficiencies that once plagued MD. Damn thing is sharp enough to cut a Wiiya in half, you don't want to see what it does to a person!
  18. That is the text there. Its more of a scene than a clickie, so not player made after all :P
  19. Yes, its the book on the desk there. Code Letter Almanac, I believe its called. Still a long way away to double check though.
  20. It is currently not fully implimented through the letters (it is through other methods, however). I believe that clicky may be player coded, will need to make a trip to the east to see. And yes, the puzzle is solvable as it currently stands, although I don't think it is solvable without some information you can't find on your own? I forget, I'll have to double check that.
  21. I was, but from what I have been told the CLC is currently retired, its job completed; and if a new CLC is created then new applicants will be chosen (a good thing, since everyone's availability has likely changed). Not to say you can't come to me for rule clarificaiton. Just that I dont have a current official capacity for it right now - if you need an Official comment, go to the LHO's or the judges/council.
  22. To facilitate the other time frame, Azkhael has agree to run the event in my stead. The new time is 21ST
  23. One is for the start of the day, the other for the end. The responses are in chronological order.
  24. I'm generally asleep from 15ST, and my health is at about 5% right now, so... we will see. Added a Poll
  25. Today (day 256) at the Meeting of the Roads, at 21ST Azkhael will be running a trivia event. The event is likely to run for an hour and a half. Those of you who attended the MDA Trivia during the anniversary will be familiar with the format, as I am adapting Innocence's format. There will be two teams (feel free to organize before the event or during), no size limit but the teams must be mostly even. Each team will have one team leader, which can be changed between rounds. There will be five rounds of ten questions, five to each team. The last two rounds will be free for all - ten questions to Both teams. Team members need to tell their leader the correct answer in chat on their teams turn, it is the team leaders job to select which answer he will go with. Even if a team member has gotten the correct answer, if the team leader gives the wrong answer your team will not get the points, so choose your leader wisely! There will be a score for each team, as well as a score for each player. Teams score points for getting answers correct, players score points for contributing to correct answers*. Prizes will be given based on participation. Scores: Team Doozy - 108 AmberRune, Rophs, Etluc and Change Team Dances with Drunks - 71 Dark Demon, Sir Blut, WittyLeWat, Assira the Black, and TheRichMerchant Personal scores: [spoiler]These scores are calculated as follows: Attempting a question earns you one point Getting a question correct earns you one point (so two points total) In round 2, getting any single item on a list earnt one point In round three, one point was given for the correct answer, and two for identifying the fallacy in the question[/spoiler] AmberRune = 78 Assira the Black = 29 Change = 32 Dark Demon = 46 (left after 22 questions) Etluc = 25 Rophs = 55 Sir Blut = 34 TheRichMerchant = 38 WittyLeWat = 23 *Points will be LOST from a players score if they are giving out incorrect answers during the opponents turn to trick them. This is unsporting and I don't want to see it.
