Reply to DST post: I do appreciate the efforts of those that created the things that we enjoy in MD. I appreciate Burns's form of protest, and his attempts to create somethign different. I actually egged him on yesterday. My remarks were carefully directed towards those (No One in particular) that would tear down the game, without offering an alternative. The GGG damage has been done, and I commented on how hard it is to wander around trying to find targets now - as things are today. His actions will drive away players, not bring back "the good old days". My remarks were carefully directed towards COMBAT opportunities. My remarks were carefully directed towards pipstickz's implication that knowledge can overcome the huge advantages of age and credits ("Learn to fight") as if the natural pecking order was my fault, and his position in it was due to his scholastic nature. No, I blame certain vets for trying to tear down GGG and put nothing in its place. I am not asking to be given anything but will stand up to the negativity these certain people represent. Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed, there is nothing a new mp5 can do against an ancient veteran without their cooperation, without spending a fortune on tokens. "Learn to fight" - what bs. Quit with the brainwashed mantra. How can you guys be worried about 100-day-old characters having 1K attack when the current disruptor of GGG has rituals doing 69K damage x6 x6 each round? [Correction: the lead creature had 68K "target all" strikes, the other 5 did have lesser attacks. My aimed hit with max ve boost, which should have done about 10K damage, did -- you guessed it -- 1 point damage, and we all know why. "Learn to fight", ha! Learn to run, you meant, as I see in your posts below.]

GGG might be the worst thing to happen to MD, but all you multi-year veterans have failed to provide an alternative. Right now all a new mp5 can do for combat is go to GOE and get thrashed by angiens and drachs on steroids, wander around the empty lands, or go to GGG. It took me 3 weeks to find 180 victories outside of GGG - that's fewer than 10 per day. If you ancient whiners would create something worth doing instead of trying to tear down the only thing left, we wouldn't think you're such ####'s. I tried to create an alternative - and got no support. Burns is at least trying, I give him that, but fight club is just as artificial as GGG. What have the rest of you done to keep MD alive, rather than tear it down?

The child's skull is still soft so the brain can grow, the adult's skull hardens for protection and so limits growth. The snail is my favorite example, it builds its own shell for protection, then must live within its confines. We roleplay to escape the RL shells we have built for and around us. We try alts to see what a DIFFERENT shell would feel like. In these ways, we escape our protective biases and limitations, and experience a bit of the freedom that is our birthright, is lost as we live, and we constantly strive to find again. The only problem I see with "birthing" an alt is that it carries on the karma/history of the parent with it. It is not a clean start to try on a different shell. And so, THEORETICALLY, ought to be a less satisfying way to play, since the "escape" factor is diminished.

2sc. But to bid more, I would have to know more about what claw2 and blooddrop2 do for a heretic archer. Especially given this weird power/attack thing on them.

The original post clearly went right past the target and splatted on the wall.... But, for the record, I did get that this was satire, poking fun at the extreme measures taken against alts these days. I too am a bit anxious and insecure in wondering what thing I might do to cross the invisible arbitrary lines -- and part of this is born from being ignorant of how rampant alt abuse really is out there. It was a VERY round-about way to start a dialog about what the rules are, without pointing out accusingly that they sometimes seem arbitrary and heavy-handed to those not in the know about what really goes on. I sometimes feel like a little kid wondering if he'll be sent to jail for sticking his finger in the cake frosting before supper.

Suppose you had a matched pair of avys, one with a smile, one with a frown. And suppose you wanted to switch back and forth to show your mood. The cost would be a killer.

Will meet market value on any kind or color of joker (or nutcracker or Santa if I can -- may have to work a deal). At a minimum, 1sc per level or token.

Current rules, if you have multi-avy's, it costs you credits to switch back and forth (like changing clothes, or showing moods). Thus, this is discouraged and people will not spring for very many avys. Alternative to consider - switching two avys between the vault and the one displayed is free - would need a cost structure to pay for such avys ONCE. With free use of avys from your collection, people would be encouraged to develop an avy "collection". Current option spreads around a limited number of avys available. Alternative may ultimately get more dollars into MD treasury, and be more fun.

I'm not worried about me. I genuinely think banning spells dilutes the value of wp's, and takes the magic out of "magic duel", and the calculation of "victorious" seems like a bug (math artifact of negative numbers) that begs to be fixed. Another item - defender should get notice of heads changing hands, just like attacker gets. Also, if attacker LOSES heads, this should be subject of a notice.

High res scan on e-mail? Was this a specific request, or some new requirement I (and probably others) missed? btw - BFH and I are working closely together, don't be surprised by some style cross-overs.

Shame on those who abandon their RP/Character/Good-Manners/Soul just to chase heads. There are many situations where good people are still trying to carry on training (GGG etc.) or otherwise would consider it annoying to have to reset their delicate rituals, and it would be rude to bust in and take heads by force. This gives people a way to pass the candy to the children and tell them to go away and play somewhere else, without bothering them.

These "concerns" should all lead to constructive suggests. My first two: 1)Some paid wp for xp cap or ve change, and get to use those in HC. I bought a spell, but can't use it. Spells should be allowed. 2)Definition of victorious has some oddiities around life steal. You are victorious if you lose more than 10%, or gain between 1 and 10%. Not if you gain more than 10%, or lose between 1-10%. I'm sure there has to be some rationale for this discontinuity, but it's sure not obvious. Clean it up?
