I'll only mention the fact that again the newbies are being punished and the gap between "haves" and "have-nots" is being enlarged. I'll only mention the fact that punishment and label of "abuse" is again the reward for people who play the game as it was coded for them.

My sense is that you are describing a period when the lands were first taking shape, and are now concerned that this entire evolution has stagnated due to the lack of vision/drive of the kings. If that were all there was to the entire culture of MD, then I would agree with your analysis. In fact there are many threads or sub-sections of society/culture running through the realm which may not be visible to most players not involved in them. The most blatant example is the polarization of MP5's that resulted from the demolishing of the GGG. The younger MP5's are a cooperative group that identify with each other in their animosity towards the older "veterans" that hold arbitrary authority and unreachable power. I wrote the "Lay of the GGG" trying to capture this. I don't know much about the strange goings-on in the Savelite church - that must be a real story. Each alliance must have some core activities going on. There has been some friction in the MB alliances. The brief take-over of the Archivists was surreal. The LHO's form a cultural group. The younger MP6's and candidates have some common ground. The people coding clickies have some common ground. The people working on avys have some common ground. The people into creative writing have some common ground. The people into tea and cake have some common ground. People have a sense of the death of the realm because they are not (no longer?) tied in with SOMETHING that is happening to engage their interest. We need not just a plethera of things going on, we also need to worry about the mechanisms by which young players are drawn into these cultural sub-sections of the game. That MD newspaper could be a great way to hook people in... if it were happening. Kyphis says another group is handling that besides Legend Speakers. BFH was pushing it for awhile. How about that first free wp comes a certain number of active days AFTER beoming MP5. We need an incentive for those with stunted "growth" to move up. I've earned 3 and caused another 5 to be awarded. But I'm a firm believer that "Magic"Duel needs more magic! And MD needs more players moving to MP5. Last night about 11pm EST USA I was moving along and entered GoE. White Nothing for a picture, surrounded by the normal mood panel, etc. The catchy jingle fades in and out. No amount of refresh would bring it back. Just now, 8-9 hours later, same thing. Cleared cookies, no effect, no picture. Switched to Firefox (the transition was a bit glitchy in terms of log-on) but this cleared up the problem.

Okay, if I read the log Asterdai sent me correctly, he basically got a lot more facts than Assira did, wore her out and got her to admit her leverage (probably too easily - leverage should have been last to admit -- note her post "Assira the Black Becoming Brain Dead... studying for 3 tests that are tomorrow " ). She then had to reveal the rest of her secrets, including the very lucky fact that she was the one that could fulfill Asterdai's secret desire. Seems an abrupt end to the game, but I think we have arrived. Unless anybody is going to raise objections, I think Asterdai is the winner. I'll wait till tomorrow then request Clock Master to award the wp. Congrats, Asterdai. Please post with your opinion whether we should do this again, and what should be different.
