Fyrd Argentus Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 That's not a limerick. You've got to be able to read it with 3-3-2-2-3 cadence (emphasis of the beat) - the whole thing taking 13 beats (16 with pauses after the long lines). Think of this as sung in 4/4 time for 4 measures. Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA-te-te-DA (pause) Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA-te-te-DA (pause) Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA, Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA Ta-DA-ta-ta-DA-te-te-DA (pause)
(Zl-eye-f)-nea Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 Can we do as many as we like? or just one? Z
ZenTao Posted March 18, 2012 Author Report Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) I corrected it, tho you should have given a real example pickle man! Z please just use the Limerick style as it is shown here http://www.poetryame...om/Limerick.asp: and of course you may write as many as you like but you must choose one for the voting Edited March 18, 2012 by ZenTao
awiiya Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) I've never written a limerick - so here are some broken attempts: There once was Peace, a Necrovian Who finding the ocean dove she in But being part shade It became her true grave And as she died, the moral she cried, don't mistake oneself for avian (I don't think this is a limerack. The ending line was way too many foots. Alternatively, it really wants to be a morphed limerick: There once was Peace, a Necrovian Who finding the ocean dove she in But being part shade It became her true grave And as she died, The moral she cried, Don't mistake oneself for avian) An alternate: Have you met the poor man Grido? He thought he could sing just any note, So walking along He sang a song, And made, more than Eon, a thousand foe. Or another: I could tell you a tale of a man named Mur, Who made a kingdom that many prefer, So much they did love, In opinion held him above, And decided that to him their souls would transfer. Why not: A man once grew named Awiiya He lived in intellect, peace, and awe Until a non-poetic man Tired of his wordy tin can Cut him down quick with a tree saw. And a final, real limerick, (with help from a one Tarquinus): There was a kind Queen, Handy Pockets, Who kept secret loves in a locket. Once when broken unlocked, Everyone was quite shocked, To see pictures of fire bombs and rockets Awi Edited March 19, 2012 by awiiya Tarquinus, Peace, Watcher and 2 others 4 1

Hedge Munos Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 There once was a girl from nantucket... No, no, that can't be it. -- There was a man made of dust, It was said he smelled of must, He walked around, Then he sat down, And fell apart as he hit a good gust OR There was a gnome named Gerome, Gerome had not a home, He walked through town, In a ladies' nightgown, For Gerome had not a home OR There once was a man named Fyrd, This man, he carried no curd, He gave out pickles, And flinched from tickles, But the man, he kept his word -- Undecided on which to enter...will pick soon...
