Happy Birthday, Sharazhad!
Firsanthalas replied to nadrolski's topic in Say hello, Goodbye, or something else
Happy birthday -
Suddenly, Chaos erupted in whole Arabic world (all the unrest). Makes me wonder who profits from chaos there?
I think you are insinuating the western powers like America, England, France? Oddly enough, it's the other Arab countires that benefit from it most. The conflict in Libya has resulted in an increase in oil prices. That definately doesn't suit the countries in the west that import such oil.
Keep in mind that during Gadafi (no matter how eccentric he is), Libya prospered. Libya had oil, Libya had jobs, Libya had money.
Umm...that statement is so wrong on so many levels. First up, the oil doesn't spring from Gadafi's arse. It's there with or without him. Libya has prospered? If you mean the people that support Gadafi have prospered then yeah. Not much use to the average person there though. As for the oil situation and international intervention.... Well, Egyptian citizens were not being bombed by their 'own' (supposedly in the case of the Libyans I'd say) airforce. Bahrain also has oil and as yet the Americans haven't gone in there all Team America style. It's easy to say the situation in Libya is simply about the oil, but I don't think it is that simple, nor fair to make that assumption. It's a factor sure, but not the sole one. Regardless, I hope that the average Libian citizen ends up in a better situation at the end of all this.
In regards to the specific event of the Loreroot sludge, I assume that Firsanthalas is referring to my extended roleplay and post in the sludge and floods discussion where I made up whatever solution I wanted and justified it.
Nope.

Here's my opinion on the matter. Mya and Sharazhad had an idea for a story. They consulted me about it. I told them that anything that involved something particular to MD itself was taboo and not allowed. So no blackwater or liquid dust. In the meantime, some people 'roleplayed' 'their' solution/cause. I.E. They made up whatever shit they wanted and justified it. I am also going to point out that NOBODY (other than Mya and Sharazhad) made any attempt to speak to me on the matter. I find that really amusing and disappointing at the same time. I find it amusing to think that people are of the opinion that they can go off and make assumptions about a land and not consult the king. It's the same as making assumptions about something like liquid dust, branding them to be true and yet not consulting Mur. I also find it amusing about how the 'experts' in RP love to show everyone else how it's done. The way I see it, in MD, RP falls into two categories. The first is RP that has an impact on MD itself. This might involve someone doing some RP that leads to a new creature, or a new location being opened, or a realisation about something in MD. Anything along these lines has to involve Mur at some point. The second is something that affects the people in MD, but not MD itself. The sludge was an attempt at the second. You can label this as 'fluff'RP if you like and you can dismiss it. However, I feel that is ignorant. The people in MD are supposed to be able to influence MD. And while we don't always influence MD itself, we do influence people within MD all the time. It may be a simple as a kind or nasty word. It doesn't need to be started from an RP basis at all. But here it is folks, the plain simple truth. People in MD think that they can do whatever they want and that they are always right. 'Oh, I'll RP it, so that makes it right'. You can't make an assumption and claim it true about MD, just because you RP'd it, or had a dream, or drank 50 pints and had an epiphany while getting your stomach pumped. So, people by and large don't try to do that anymore. Yet, when someone else tries to create something, this principle goes out the window. If you want to do something involving MD directly, you need to refer and consult with Mur. If you want to be involved in an RP started by a person, you need to refer and consult with him/her/them. If you don't intend to participate, you should keep your nose out of it. Yes, some people started harping on about some things in MD like liquid dust, but that was never going to be allowed and anyone that did was told they were wrong. I think it shows a staggering amount of ignorance and arrogance on the part of some people that they felt the need to step in with 'can't do' and 'don't do'. In my book that is not helping in any shape or form. It's very easy to sit on your lofty throne and tell others how it's done, while not actually 'doing' yourself. Right, I'm off to eat that leg of pork now. (edited spelling errors)
-
It seems that the plans and ideas were changed. Mainly this seems to have happened because of certain people objecting. Certain people that made no effort to participate I might add. Personally, my message to said people is this: Get stuffed. People complain that nothing happens in MD. When someone actually takes the time to try to inject something into it, the trolls emerge and complain. You know who you are. My message to you is simple. Either contribute something constructive or do the rest of us a favour and go F yourself or find someone to do it for you (if you can). Is this offensive? Darn tootin. I am past caring. I've had enough really. I'm off the wrestle with a pig. At least I can eat it afterwards. (Rumi: apologies if you felt I was taking a crack at you. I wasn't aware that certain things were changed. Based on the original concept the cause and solution was very different from yours, but given recent events, well done for at least bothering.)
-
Rumi, you were given a clue and you decided its a red herring. Ergo, everything after that fact is incorrect, because your assumptions are based on something other than the facts.

"Creatures require MP level to advance!"
Firsanthalas replied to display name's topic in General Forum
this stage doesn't really allow these MPs to experience different rituals and how they work
Exactly, its a learning stage. You are not meant to be able to do and experience everything. You are supposed to learn the basics first. As it stands, some rits have no benefit at MP3 and are not supposed to. In fact, some are detrimental. That's why you have these 'gods' of MP3/MP4 (who, incidentally are often the people that I am referring to when I say numpties). They are at a level they shouldn't be at. They are far and away too advanced to be at those MP levels. Think of it this way. In most countries you start off learning on a low CC motorbike, like a 125 or maybe 250 at most. When you are comfortable with that and most likely not until you pass your driving test do you upgrade to a more powerful bike. Right now we have MP3s spinning around on 2000CC turbo jet engine propelled bikes that can fly and microwave croissants. -

Perhaps. But it also means that if stat farmers want to use fully upgraded creatures, then they need to move on to the next MP level. There are people that been hanging on at MP3 and Mp4 way longer than they should. As Mur already posted and many seem to have missed; MP3 is a LEARNING stage and MP4 and Intermediate stage. You ARE NOT supposed to be walking around with maxed out creatures (especially Angiens). What should happen is that you should be learning how to fight and oops, you hit your xp cap one day and then progress. Instead, some people have been calculating how to upgrade creatures to max and stay at MP3. This creates an imbalance, because you now have people that are decidedly NOT learning, swimming in the same pool as the people who are learning. We have constantly seen this in the HC, where some people just dominate the MP3 and MP4 stages and clearly shouldn't be there. We've seen the stupid MP3 maxed Angien rit. What's worse, they seemed to take some pride in being able to defeat Mp5s with it. Newsflash, if you can orchestrate leveling the creatures without reaching the cap, let alone defeating players 2 MP levels above yours, then you are NOT a learner and should not be at a level intended for people learning. Personally I see this as a correction that needs to be made. Freezing the creatures is also needed, because if you don't, you will get numpties remaining at MP3 or MP4 on the basis that they now have creatures upgraded to a level impossible for newer players at that level. Don't blame Mur for these changes, blame the numpties. Anyway, they are needed. I know some may not like them, but they are definitely needed. Besides, its something new and different in MD and in the end the motivation is to improve things overall. Not a bad thing in my book. -

And what is your suggestion then? We've already seen Feb's stupid MP3 maxed angiens. If you are not in an alliance then other MP levels can't hit you. Which means other players will have the same restrictions as you do. Granted there could be MP3 or MP4 players with creatures at higher levels now, but eventually those players will reach the cap for their MP level and have to move up a level, until they eventually hit MP5. If you seriously want to do a reset of creatures, then why not just reset everything while you are at it? And by the way, the backlash from people from having their creatures reset back to zero is going to be bad. Its not really a runner in my opinion. -
Yeah, I was going to say that since the other kings opted to join the 'winning' team, I'd join this one. However, if your elite club has closed it's doors, then perhaps I should go to team win? For the laugh, I'll throw a spanner into things. The fund was donated. As such, anyone that gave the money did just that. They gave it away, they no longer own it. Technically the fund belongs to MD and not any individuals. As such, it is neither right to return it, nor wrong to have it moved elsewhere or discarded. Therefore, it might be seen as correct by some to return it to the original owners, but it isn't required or wrong not to do so. Wonder what that means about certain arguments? Anyway, I feel I have proved what I set out to. This whole thread is an indictment of people not actually caring WHAT people actually say, more so a case of WHO.
-
Rhaegar, he got a response in line with the way he treated me. He made it personal in the first place. He usually does. And again, ignoring any notion of not returning credits to people based on inactivity, that still does not deal with accounts that have possibly been deleted or funds not donated by individual players. Neither Pip nor yourself have addressed this issue, you are focusing on one detail that you have an issue with and seeking to make issue with me. Is not returning funds to old accounts right? I don't know. Its a suggestion and opinion, nothing more. I can see how that could be an issue for some people. I am not that blinkered, despite what Pip says. Me bringing it up as an alternative or suggestion does not mean I can't see any other option. But, again, IF there is money left, AFTER money has been returned (even if it is to all donators that still exist, even if inactive for any length of time), is it not better to use it for another purpose rather than essentially pour it down the drain? Bearing in mind that someone could have invested REAL money, as you say, and then had their account deleted for whatever reason. That's the proceeds of REAL money, according to you, that can't be returned to the owner. The owner clearly felt it worthwhile to donate to the game, so why not use it for the game, even though it isn't the exact, specific fund the person put it into? I don't believe that this disrespects or diminishes the Artisans guild in any way. They have ceased to exist. And we are talking about funds that can't be returned. Am I really being unreasonable? If I donated money to a cause and the group responsible ceased to exist, I for one would hope that the money I donated would be used to help that cause if possible, even if not the exact use I donated it for, rather than just sit doing nothing forever. Perhaps I am an exception then?
-
Correct me if I am wrong here. But, weren't there accounts deleted in the past? Haven't some people said they wanted their accounts deleted for various reasons? And if Mur did put credits in, then that also leaves a surplus. So, yeah Pip, there could in fact be a remainder. I also said it was my opinion, which I am entitled to. If you are going to attempt to make out that I am somehow wrong in my logic, then at least get your facts straight. As usual you didn't actually listen to what I said, you just proceeded to have a pop at me. So, for clarity sake. I said, that if there were credits leftover AFTER credits were returned, they should go elsewhere. So I have not disagreed with returning funds. I have suggested that maybe not all of it should be returned to potentially dead accounts. I've also raised the issue of leftover funds. I disagreed with the idea of simply leaving funds in a defunct treasury. And I stand by my comment on inactive accounts. While, yes there are indeed people that return after a long absence, I firmly believe that for each of these, there are probably at least 10 more that will never come back. And using the funds there for another purpose helps MD as a whole, it doesn't take away from it. I've raised something that was not considered by some people, including yourself Pip. People are free to ignore it, but don't simply dismiss it because it came from me. I also have to wonder if there would have been so much negativity to the original topic post if it had actually come from someone else?
Pipstickz Oh Tarq, you're so fair. You both stop and spread prejudice. Feb 09 2011 01:59 AM
Irony perhaps?

And leaving credits sit doing nothing isn't silly? And how exactly is it inflation? Leaving credits sitting doing nothing and giving extra ones out is inflationary. Using what is already there as opposed to not just dishing out more isn't. Actually, this all seems to be a ridiculous argument. Give the funds back and then either redistribute the remainder or bin it. What is the point in leaving it sit in a defunct fund? Its just going to result in this debate cropping up again in the future. My personal opinion is that leaving it or binning it is an awful waste.
-
I am going to play devil's advocate here because I think people are responding emotionally rather than rationally here. Firstly, I do agree that donations should be returned. However, I guess that some people have left and its also possible that Mur gave some of those funds as a donation. I believe this has been done with a few funds in MD (I could be wrong). So, in all probability, even if you return the donations, there will be some money left in the kitty. I see no reason to leave it sit there idle, when it could be put to good use elsewhere. I'm not saying it should all go to the advertisers, but to simply leave it in situ seems a bit like cutting your nose to spite your face. I would say that anyone that hasn't logged in for 12 months (or some timeframe people find acceptable) be considered gone and any funds they donated be left for use elsewhere. Anyone else that is still considered to be around should have the funds returned.

Yeah, I actually meant Garg rather than Chewy. I'm going senile these days.

A few points. First of all a negative one. I've always seen the archives as a whole, as a group to report and record information. You can debate the finer points as to the roles and functions of an Archivist or a legend Seeker, but as a whole, that is what I've always believed a major part of MDA's existence to be about. So its a bit disconcerting to see that you are incorrect in information about your own land, let alone others. In the past I've been approached about reps from MDA doing some kind of reports and records on Loreroot and the other lands. It seemed to get rather complicated and messy and I felt that I had to chase things up. In the end it fell flat before it ever started. From my perspective it was a stunning failure. That being said. Things and people have changed. If I may suggest, you should contact people and seek out information. I know that your numbers are small, but start with what you have. I am sure that many people will work with you if you make the effort and if people see more output from the MDA lands (I know people have been running quests and there have been some story nights), that may bring more interest in joining your ranks. Just be sure that if you approach someone that YOU chase it up, don't expect the other person to start chasing you. I for one find that really annoying and it turns me right off the notion of helping, because it makes me feel like I am being asked to do someone else's job. On the subject of the MDNP, it was a loose group of people that wrote the articles for it. Chewy and Grido did most if not all the editing and some writing. Burns also did a lot of writing on it and I contributed a few pieces to it myself (there were others, so apologies to anyone still around that I haven't named). Maybe you should start contacting those who were involved in it already and then try to get a few extra bodies involved too? As I said, I know people and things have changed in MDA. And my opinions may not be shared by everyone, but they are MY opinions. So please take this as an earnest opinion from someone in MD and some constructive criticism.

I think I'm going to toss a grenade here and maybe also get back on track, then promptly deviate. I really don't see any harm in having memorials for people. If people want to remember them and the things they have done for people and how they had an impact on others, whats the harm? Just leave the AL stuff out and keep it to more personal experiences. Afterall, I'd hate to think that a person's value in MD is summed up by their inclusion/exclusion and relativity to the AL. That being said, I find it continually frustrating at the insistence of people to harp on ad nauseum about past MD characters, while current characters seem to go un-noticed. I personally feel that celebrating someone while they are around is much better than waiting until they have departed. By the by, what is the definition/requirement to be considered ancient? I believe that there were at least two names omitted from the list that was cited earlier (and that is just going by the start date of the most 'junior' member of said group)
Obviously messing with Liquid Dust is about as useful for realism as digging for a long lost cube since apparently only Mur truly knows everything about the substance and what it can and can't do.
Exactly, so you don't use it. Simple. There are lots of other things that are much more mundane that can be used. Even non mundane things.
-
So basicly you are trying to give someone a position over all archives to distribute Wishpoints, Just like a king...
No Chewy, that isn't my intention here at all. I am not trying to create some kind of defacto king of the Archives. I'm simply asking for a trustworthy and competent person to hold some WP codes for people in the Archive lands to be able to liase with. I see no reason why it needs to be the same person all the time either. My point is that if they feel that they have a set number of WPs (at least for a period of time) then they can plan and organise quests and events better. I am trying to make life easier, not more complicated. That's all.
-
Not sure if this is the best place for it, but here goes. I've always donated WP codes for quests run by people in the archives. While the kings get WPs for the benefit of their lands, I feel its important to give some to the running of quests from lands with no monarch. Given that Loreroot citizens can potentially win or have fun participating in these quests, I feel that it holds true to benefiting the land and happily MD in general. To this end, I'd like to do something different this year. Rather than people approaching me piecemeal, I'd prefer to give small bundles to WP codes to someone in charge that can then use them as quests arise. So, could someone in the archives land be appointed for this task? Basically, I give them the WP codes and the rest of the archives folk see them about the WP codes for the quests they are running. Not to put words into the other king's mouths, but if they did the same, it would give the archives a nice little pot of WP codes. Anyway, this is just my thoughts and preference on the matter and I may change it later on. To be clear though. I will give a very small pot of WP codes. If these are used up I may give some more out. I just don't want to give a load and find out they go unused. My decision for taking this approach is to give greater clarity to quest runners. It will be easier for ye to see if you can access Wp codes for use as rewards and speed things up. Thats my hope at any rate.

Eon is playing an aspect of the game. You may not like it, it may be annoying, but ultimately he is just playing the game and enjoying it in a different way to you. I don't see any reason to be pursuing Eon as he/she has done nothing wrong. I say that dst should go ahead and close the thread as she suggested. (Ultimately that's up to the mods, not trying to backseat mod or anything, just answering dst's question about closing it)
-
Hah-ha!! Your catching up on me! For a while at least Happy birthday.
-
In fairness, I kinda did say that. But I stand by what I've said. AND.... 'I'll also comment as a king.' My very first sentence in that post. So telling me my post is skewed to one viewpoint, when I've actually stated quite clearly that I am infact posting from that viewpoint....well it seems odd at the very least. I also don't believe that my post was offtopic at all. Its about alleged abuse of a king on the subject of WPs and rebel status. I dealt with that. Kings were supposed to have other means to reward and recognise citizens. Currently these abilities don't exist (not a whine, simple statement of fact). The only real method of reward kings have is the allotment of WPs, whether its a direct reward, or to help someone with running a quest. On that note, I'd like to point out that I also give WP codes to people that are in lands with no king and therefore possibly no access to WP codes. I only really refuse people who have a king that they can (and should be) getting WP codes from. So, this also erodes the idea that a rebel is losing out on something to a loyal citizen, as even non-citizens can get WP codes from me. I also believe that at least one or two of the other kings supply WP codes to MD citizens with no king. As a king, Im not out to horde WP codes or prevent people in the realm from running quests. I don't think any king is at heart. (EDIT: While some of my comments may seem to be about me and not Jester's case, its because they are coming from the point of view of a king. And therefore could be experienced by me or another king in the future. I am not taking a side in the dispute in Necrovion here. Please do not assume that I am in Jester's camp, or against Pamps or anything else.)
