1.
I personally believe in both because if we only believe in one there will be no balance. It's like science and religion. If you believe in one then you will be blinded or rather you won't accept anything from the other. Which will only cause conflict. So my point is see every little point of view before believing. Don't blindly go for what you think is "right".
By your logic, you should be a member of every religion and cult imaginable. Praise Cthulhu! How you believe in everything without conflicting beliefs is beyond me.
2. Fire Starter, a song also came to my mind when reading the mood panel entry - "Who's That Girl?" by Hilary Duff. Funny how the title is the same. You're very talented, dragonrider. Great drawings. (Incidentally, how much would you charge for the top one?)
3.
i dont see [...] why it actually needs to be "understood" as if its a condition!
Everything on Earth and beyond needs to be poked, investigated, and tested in every detail, for such is human curiosity.
4. The difference between science and non-science: Science answers our current questions while posing new ones; thus we do not know everything due to an increasing pool of questions. Non-science simply doesn't answer any questions properly.
5. Yay, my forum rep is positive again. :)

lol... and mine continue to sink

6. I have not seen the post in question, but the person who did it should try to use insults that don't have the possibility of starting flame wars. IMHO, "gay", "faggot", etc. are still used as insults by the general population simply because it has been done so in the past, and old habits die hard. Don't take it personally. Since being gay is socially acceptable now due to society maturing (or due to desensitization), the "insult" no longer has any bite, and thus is no longer really associated with being gay. I mean by this, you won't commonly see a comment like "Thats gaaaaay" on something that is actually associated with homosexuality. Any such comments would have the intention of trolling, not the intention of insulting. I expect usage of "gay" as an insult to die out within a few generations, similarly as "nigger" has done. However, Seig, being gay is no more something to be proud of and admired for than being straight is. No emotion at all should be attached to either word; either preference is equal to the other. My opinion is not driven by emotion; I myself am straight. Having been tormented (for any reason) is a reason for pity. Surviving torment and coming out stronger is a reason for admiration. This has nothing at all to do with homosexuality. Edit: My supposition is that being gay or straight is a difference in chemical balance, similar to the difference of being in love or not being in love, or being addicted or not addicted. Except that it's permanent and unchanging.
7. As I have already said twice, Shadow, the entrant can run it himself. Aster, I do NOT buy quest ideas! Read more carefully.
8. Status of current entries edited into bottom of original post. And yay, I reached my target audience - one prospective entry is by a new mp3.
9.
For example i didn't see any river and..weird thing...i never saw any kind of animal?? ..not to mention there are no pigs!
There is a stream in Golemus (Power's Ascent or nearby) that flows down to a watermill (Golem's Mill). Animals would not want to expose themselves to view, I suspect, so no conclusion can be drawn about their existence.
10.
Well!! that can be a problem...on resizing it came only 100x105...so there is some empty space... but make wolf...very taller wont be nice..... -rider
That amount of empty space is probably fine. Just split the emptiness above and below the avvy to make it look less obvious. Make sure you use every pixel of horizontal space, and you can crop a bit of the picture on the side away from the face. You can also stretch it upward a LITTLE. I had similar difficulty with nadrolski's reclining avvy (which was actually wider than high), and these were my workarounds.
11. That would be great, Cutler. PM sent. And I've gotten an unrelated entry already. Things are looking promising.
12. @TTL: A quest can be forcibly limited by mindpower, but there should be a good reason if you do so. Yes, Shadow, the idea, plus accompanying text, at every step. You need to show me what text the participant will see, tell me what he needs to do, and how he does it. Code workings are not required (I can do that, or I can get help If I get stuck), but it has to be physically possible to code, or else the quest will not be run and reward will not be given. Practically, the code (if any) is the only thing that can be left up to me to do.
13. My opinion: You do not choose whether or not to love. Love is an emotion, caused by a chemical imbalance, similar to many mental disorders. Whether or not you act upon your emotions is your choice.
14. I offer to run it by default. As I said, the entrant can run it. The quest being run is a condition for reward. If I did not offer to run entries, newer people would be limited in what they can enter. Also, Chewy, I did not say I "own" an entry quest. I said I can run it "like my own." I.e. as if I had created it. I meant I wouldn't shove it in a corner and forget about it.
15. It's about time I got serious about quest creation. However, there's a small problem: I'm lazy. :/ To kill two birds with one stone, I'm shoving the work over to you, and I'm calling it a quest! And it isn't even my idea; this kind of quest was previously run by Burns! (he approves, btw) Quest: Help the extremely lazy snake. Craft a quest. Rewards: If your entry is clever, and would be judged by me to be worthy, you will get a Tormented Soul (other rewards will be put here as I gain access to renewable valuables). If your entry does not conform to restrictions, is unimaginative, or mimicking a previous entry (yours or not), FAIL. The latter is to prevent free rewards among friends. Specifics: For a standard quest, your entry must contain the quest, the solution(s), and the method of arriving at the solution(s), every step of the way. If, however, you get creative with your entry (which I highly encourage), it may not have a "solution". In such case, provide the means by which a participant would be chosen for reward. It does not have to be Metal Bunny-level difficulty. But don't make it too simple. Pseudo-legal crap you have to read: If in your entry you do not expressly state otherwise, I am allowed to administer your entry quest like my own (as it is, or modified), providing credit to you for creating it, and excluding you from its possible winners if I deem necessary. If I run it, I will PM you, and you recognize that you may not run the same quest. If I am allowed to run your quest, and you do not receive a PM from me stating that I am running the quest, you may run the quest. However, you must send me a PM telling me you are doing so, so that I will not run a duplicate. If you run the quest, in case a knowledge of the internals provides an advantage and it is something I can become involved in, you will exclude me from its possible winners. Consequences of not following these rules are your problem, not mine. Restrictions: The quest may not contain spamming (e.g. PL entries), and may not include PM-ing specific predetermined people who give a predetermined answer. Person-to-person interaction otherwise is a good thing and encouraged, as in Rhaegar's introductory quest. The quest may not require the participant to write an essay. It may require up to a paragraph or two at any given stage. You may utilize ideas that are not your own, but if you do so, you must provide credit in the entry. You may not plagiarize someone else's quest. Do not enter quests you have previously run. Finally, assume that ANYTHING can be done with MD Script (within reason; e.g. no taking people's stuff). Do not restrict yourself just because you personally would not be able to code it. For you to visualize the extent, I hear that Fyrd can code a clickie to be able to send him email notifications. If blatant plagiarism is spotted, you will not receive any reward and you may not enter again. If an entry turns out to be very similar to a quest run in the past, but does not show signs of evident plagiarism, you will not receive reward, but may try again with a different entry. Send me a PM with your entry (forum or in-game; you can usually find me in-game at the Marble Dale Park, a.k.a. Sparring Grounds). Forum PM is preferred. DO NOT POST ENTRIES IN THE FORUM THREAD, or your entry will be disqualified and hopefully the text will be removed by a moderator. Include your ingame name if submitting via forum PM. You may submit entries as many times as you like. Depending on supplies and on how this runs, this may be a permanently open quest. I'm hoping it fosters creativity in the public and provides a stream of good quests for people to solve. Get crackin'! 8D EDIT: Status of current entries: Miiriam - What?Where?! - ended, permanently playable Fyrd Argentus - Caucus Quest - frozen for the moment, will get back to coding it sometime Seemingly abandoned by entrant: The Warrior - Dimension Crash - fleshing out idea Cutler - unknown title - code needs Mur's approval EDIT2: Hopefully will revive this; rewards will be small, as this is now going to be directed toward younger players. Due to the rewards being small, the requirement for the quest to be run before reward is given is no longer there.
16.
The only university level courses in quantum mechanics that I know about, are being taught to physicist, mathematicians, engineers, chemists and studies involving a lot of chemistry such as biotechnology. I think it is safe to say that is less than 50% of university students, which is a lot less than 50% of the general population. Which is sadly less than the number of people who claim to understand quantum mechanics. Sure it is not that hard if you actually have a decent textbook and followed basic calculus. If only we could get people to study calculus some more...
I'm merely saying you don't need more than a high school physics background to understand a text like the non-technical wikipedia intro page to quantum mechanics. You can't do anything with such limited knowledge, but you can understand the concepts, and if you do in fact understand them, you won't be making gigantic blunders. Incidentally, I haven't technically gotten my high school diploma yet (even though I'm a substantial way through undergraduate math for a math bachelor). So of course I'm still nobody with a lot to learn. (I don't claim to know quantum mechanics, of course, but I understand its concepts well enough to recognize a crackpot when I see one.) (I assume when you say "crackpots" you mean people like those who take the Heisenberg uncertainty principle philosophically. Although maybe not quite so absurd as this...)
17. Not much I can say that hasn't already been said. Hope to see you again, on any of your accounts.
18. 4 gold 1 silver for the untokened one, assuming that you're selling both.
19. I am annoyed that in school, history, civics, and similar subjects are nowadays grouped under the tag "Social Science." It used to be "Social Studies," which was far more accurate. The only common subject in the grouping that is a science is geography. A sign that a subject is likely not a science: essays required. You don't need to be able to write a standard essay to be able to do science. But then again, essays have been slowly infecting almost every subject... On a different note, here's a wonderful example of the peer review system being slow on the uptake. It's not that the paper is wrong or anything, but... just read the article. http://fliptomato.wo...s-75-citations/ Oh, by the way, quantum mechanics isn't all that complicated to understand, in principle, when you get a good explaining text, and are beyond a high school level (I don't mean the average high school graduate; I mean actually knowing the material).
20. The only time I consciously manipulated a dream is many years ago, when I forcefully woke myself up from it. It was building suspense, and I had a bad feeling about it. Otherwise, I'm along for the ride, wherever it may go. I'm too lazy to try altering the path. Sometimes in dreams I realize I'm about to do something that I wouldn't do in real life, for whatever reason. But I think to myself that it's a dream, with no effect on reality, so moral values, safety, etc, don't apply here.
21. My intuitive decomposition of those numbers is: 2481: 2^5 * 3 * 5^2 + (3^2)^2 1028: 2^5 * 2^5 + 2^2 Vaguely similar. 2481 = 3 * 1028 - 3^2 * (2 * 2^5 + 3) , but here I'm kinda forcing a relation to the above.
22. My achievements are four, in order of decreasing uniqueness: 1. One day a few years ago, I decided to play Indestructo Chopper, a flash game hosted on addictinggames.com . After a couple hours of nonstop play, I got all the medals and submitted my score, and it turned out to be the #2 highest score ever. Maybe it was my 97% accuracy... However, I have no screenshots (I was a computer noob back then) and the highscore pages seem not to exist anymore, so I can't verify this. 2. On the old Shoddy Battle leaderboard, I reached #22 at my peak. This was a pokemon battle simulator, with ratings like in chess. Unfortunately, I also don't have any screenshots, and the leaderboard for the official server doesn't even exist anymore (now redirects to smogon's). Not that I'd still be on it; scores drop with time and require regular play to maintain. 3. The only standard MMORPG that I can claim something in: PWO (Pokemon World Online). I got into the top list of wins minus losses, and I headed an alliance (The Round Table) that got into the top of alliances in the category of wins minus losses. The game was young then, so it isn't that much of an accomplishment. I got introduced to MD from a xat.com chat for PWO (I don't remember by whom, but in hindsight it may have been Yami no Sakura, as one of my friends on PWO was Sakura, with a similar cute and bubbly personality. Kinda like Curiose. :3 ). I shortly left PWO due to the Sleep status glitching. I had built my team around exploiting sleep. My jumpluff was feared. :3 After a year of me leaving, I returned to check on the situation, and most of my friends had left, too. Sleep had still not been fixed. 4. Another flash game on addictinggames.com : Isoball 2. Also a few years ago, I found an exploit that allows me to gain unlimited score by leaving the game running in the background. I did that for a day and got a top ten score. It's #62 currently. If you want me to run it for a month to climb up in score, I can do so. Notice the top highscores for this game - #4-15 are users named: I, am, removing, your, name, to, the, second, page, of, high, scores. Also, #17-31 are various incarnations of jason.swingle . I don't really play MMORPGs much because I despise grinding for level; it's mind-numbing. I also don't have time to search for alternative MMORPGs like MD, where "a noob can beat a vet."
23. ^ posting completed work would be great. IMHO, in this thread. I'll fix its spelling and grammar.
