  2. the quest ideeas are FOR YOU to prepare quests, no need to give me advice
  3. further progress done today. Now you can edit the location settings...it was possible before but now will be part of the questmaker tools and, most important, item upload works now. just a bit more and A25 can move on with adding quest specific items to the scenes. With these tools, what once took ages to integrate, now will take seconds!
  4. quest ideea a long time ago..i think Yrthilian, got all the missing pieces of a portable forge (i might confuse the characters here). A good quest ideea is to aquire pieces for a functional item, get to a mechanic or a magical place that can put them in motion, or just assamble them and use them on the right date/time of day whatever, and create with them an other item or resource. To make the quest repeatable just give limited number of uses to the obtained item, so it will vanish once done.

Any researcher there that could tell me WHY the east lands map coords suddenly changed from number coords to textual? this is not a contest, i am not looking for the "correct answer" starting point: When developing that part of the map i had a radically changed view on things, not sure why, and after years i still don't know why. Maybe one f you could share his/her view on why the tribunal coords are different and that might help me understand in turn why that radical changed view i have. Its a personal challenge. I kind of need to understand this now, because i am planning how to store the coords of the new type of map i am working on (yeah new TYPE).. and understanding your answers might help me understand my own thoughts.

  9. repeatable quests need certain concept changes..like infinite rewards, periodic resets in case they are multiplayer, or individual views if they are single player. These things are VERY delicate things in md, because they might interfere with everything else..from concept to functionality. I have no ideea how it will be...but i can't imagine it either till i don't have all done. In case permanent quests prove to be a concept failure, ..its a lot of work done just to make admin things easier..and why not admit it..a25 tools might end up in the pile of unused admin tools. I think there is an enormous ammount of unused admin tools.. There is one to add and configure story...one to place glow orbs in the interface (old concept that i abandoned) ...lots and lots of things...and some recent stuff like the heads competition admin thats not so used (is it?) ... and more. In my opinion, giving such tools to the community is the way to save them...and put them to good use

  17. clickables places this way won't expire..in fact thats the mai ideea...to create PERMANENT quests that will have all thats needed to run forever...including neverending rewards (once per player and such, to be determined later) all quests now in md exist for a short time and are goe, i want md to grow, for that, permanent quests need to become real.
  18. Actually yes..i cleaned it a bit and the clicky placing feature works nice. The art upload part is next and with that a25 will advance A LOT. Many other features are already functional. It kind of motivates me to hear you say "years"...makes me want to surprise you all. Chew..to avoid getting brain damage from my mess there..my advice is not to interfere unless its something clear, clean and distinct you can do. For now the heavy part i will TRY to do it myself ..my only problem is that i can't work too much time on same thing and this slows down development. After this post i might try to push it harder a bit ...btw..i have a wild dream to add scene adding functionality to a25..but ..its just a thought for now. It could get wild. What makes me want that is a hope i had back in the old days ..that one day i will be able to experience myself how it is to discover new locations and their secrets...something that was basically impossible for me because i had to know all of them before they where ingame. The edges of md map might become a wild area..if i will continue to want this...if anyone wishes to reason me to stop..now is the time
  19. while a25 is just warming up, i can't consider stage 12 ripe yet...but i admire the initiative...so.. consider this just an opinion, if more will think its time to declare next stage, I won't be against.

(feel free to ask and comment, i will interrupt discussions when new quest ideas will come to my mind as more features will be developed in a25) --------------------------------- EXAMPLE 1 - quest to gather spread clickables across multiple scenes. These could be either counted as a score, or converted into a final item/product , that might in turn unlock an other part of the quest. ------------------------------ EXAMPLE 2 a long time ago..i think Yrthilian, got all the missing pieces of a portable forge (i might confuse the characters here). To make the quest repeatable just give limited number of uses to the obtained item, so it will vanish once done. ------------------------------ EXAMPLE 3 - have several clickies skattered across the map that when click will set a trigger. A main clickie could then check if all needed activating clickies have been set and then do something. For example, you could activate a complex mechanism to put in motion a generator in GG, or activate 'secret' levers to force open nc gate. The time these clickies remain activated can be set, so a team work/repeatable and even very challenging but simple quest could be created to perform certain actions..lets say ..a eon immobilizer? :P ------------------------------ EXAMPLE 4 - require a certain number of unique players to click a clickie (or more) OR - require a certain number of clickies be clicked, scattered across the map When complete, a gate can open, or a 3rd state activateble clickie can be activated ( a clickie invisible till the moment it becomes activated). Place a giant creature over a gate or arrow to prevent advancing, or the opposite, kill a giant crit or remove an obstacle. Same way to open hidden entrance to something. Use together with new scene adding tool. mixing of all above features is fully possible and recommended
  21. ps. i will be posting , from time to time, additional posts regarding sample quests that could be possible to be done with the currently functional features of a25. These sample quests will be just so you can expand based on them.

A25 features that concern quest makers at this time: - ability to add your own clickables to the scenes - ability to chain visibility of clickables based on rules - create and mix items interface - quest participants can pick clickable items to their inventory - lock/unlock locations - use custom and integrated 'keys' to activate or hide various things - display nice visual aids and messages in the interface - custom functionality is unlimited but i will value more the quests that fit what is rather than those that require custom coding. - ability to add permanent, renewable rewards, NOT from your own inventory. (to be debated) A variable set of features will be given to multiple quest creators to use, under strict supervision at first, and more free later. Drawing quality for the clickables needs to be equal to current clickables and needs to respect the current color standards in md. _nothing_ "special" or unusual. Why am i making this announcement? Anyone that thinks they can prepare a very nice quest to use such awesome and powerful features is welcome to try it. For this you will need to prepare artworks for the clickables you will use, think of a flawless logic and most of all, fine-tune a very cool quest ideea. You can prepare you materials from now, it might take several month till A25 will be done, but preparing a good quest of this sort will need time to prepare also. DO NOT HASTE . - First of all ask someone more experienced, or even me, if the idea you want implemented is indeed good and suitable. - Make sure your quest is not requiring any additional coding that might be problematic - Discuss artwork creation with any artist in md that proved to be capable to make usable clickies, cooperation is the key. - Make sure you find a _REMOTE PLACE_ for your quest. Central locations will be reserved for official quests, sopicking a more remote location and making your quest to fit it, is much better. Notes: Discuss with kyphis regarding what current A25 can do if you are uncertain. Try not to bug Chew about it or you will slow down development. Also note that i will not be answering all messages regarding this due to lack of time ..so better discuss quest ideas with other experienced quest makers, artworks with artists, and so on. have fun
  23. in a way, this is what i plan with A25 project, a mechanism that will change the start but also provide a way for certain (trusted questmakers) players to add permanent interactive quests. I am aware of the "end content" issue... I need to say that despite how it might look like, i have little knowledge of how other games or communities solve similar issues, i prefer to find my own solutions...and this "end content" situation you are describing is something that i discovered on the way, unprepared for it. I am confident that i have a solution for it.. it will come with A25 as i said...and i guess it will probably be the only solution a game of this type could find. It is something i dreamed of when starting MD, a world that will be expanded by its inhabitants. So far md world was just populated and kept alive by you, but no quests are permanent and most of the content people create, die with them. A25 is aimed to add a new dimension to everything and to put some motion in md , in a way that will still keep everything accessible to everyone, ..just incredibly deep.
