Due to a large number of questions concerning the last artwork quest that was held, I have decided to create a fall-themed artwork quest which will be a part of the Children of the Eclipse's Autumn Festival! If you wish to participate in the Quest, please check my quest page for more information. There will also be a post on the forum holding the same information if you are interested. Public Log Scavenger Hunt Location: Amoran K Kol's Quest page. An activity geared toward the younger generation. This activity encourages mp3 and mp4, and even new mp5 to meet other players in the realm. The player is to locate the person whose public log is posted in the quest, write down their name, and strike up a conversation with them. Conversation will not be judged as part of the quest, but it is highly encouraged. Winner: The first to complete the scavenger hunt correctly, or mostly correctly, will receive a wish point. The second may receive coins or a heavily aged creature. Mystery Quest - "Who stole Curi's mushroom?!" I, Curiose, have lost a very precious item! My Mushroom God! I was alone… when suddenly, I was attacked! I had passed out, but when I had woken… I found my Mushroom God was gone!! Please help me find the culprit, and my beloved Mushroom! Shroom-Hunters must depict what happened in my state of unconsciousness, as I have received notice that my Mushroom disappeared somewhere within Loreroot… Reward: 1 Wishpoint for first person to return to me my Mushroom. Location: Starting Point- Archives Study Room For those who actually find the Mushroom, I would like it if you PM me the answers to what the clues mean. From there, go to whom you think the culprit is and try to convince said person to give it back. I do so very much miss my Mushy-Mush-Mushroom. Surprise Mystery Quest: To be announced.
  2. There's an awful lot of whining about the dark as though they were in danger of becoming as common as angiens. They aren't. What is suggested here is a lottery held every so often, and there is no mention of darks being given away like, oh, I don't know, credits were until people abused the gift to death. Further, in my opinion, the dark creatures are too rare. I see them in the odd fight here and there, and it just pisses me off that certain players have managed to collect something that the average player won't even hear about, let alone stand a chance of acquiring. MD is very far from a money-making machine, and even to imply that it is money hungry is to commit an atrocious straw man fallacy. The reaction to the tombola strikes me as entirely disproportionate, and it really comes across as oligarchs trying to protect their own interests. There's enough of that in real life politics, ffs. Mur is a generous man. If he wants to be generous, let him be. It's clear that you think you know what's best, but it sounds eerily as though you know what is best for you and not for MD as a whole.

  6. 7 silver for the tormented soul.

    Gifts

I also agree with the point that MD regularly gives gifts "just because". The Christmas/mid-winter season is a perfect example. I don't think your idea is necessarily a bad one, alazzah, but I don't think more gifts are really needed. Stick around and you'll see gifts being given, and will even get some yourself. Edited for clarity. Ack.
  8. Didn't see your other post. Sorry. Please close/delete this topic.
  9. I don't know what forum to put this in. Sorry. I have been unable to connect to magicduel.com for over 6 hours. Amoran reports the same problem, and I can see from forum mood posts that it's happening in other parts of the world. Anybody know what's going on, and/or when we can expect to get back into the game?
  10. A very happy birthday to you both.
  11. Khalazdad's greatness would be hard to overstate, but that's not at issue here. When I mention his tag, I have a point to make, and it is very much relevant to the present and the future. But that is a knator of a different color.
  12. I have much to say, but I am not sure how much of it needs to be said. I will therefore try to keep my remarks relatively brief.

Language. dst raises the valid concern of my pompous, high-flown language being problematic for non-native speakers. Sorry about that. I'll try to tone it down, and to include synonyms [word-equivalents] in brackets [] where I simply can't resist the temptation to use a fancy word.
Semantics. @ Zlei - the question of the usage of "hubris" is indeed a semantic [definition-oriented] one, and therefore of trivial [minor] importance to the discussion. Therefore let us agree to courteously disagree, eh?
Right. The legitimacy of Rask's claim de jure, [by "right" or law] is actually in my mind pretty strong given Rask's parentage, and those of you who reckon without his mother are doing yourselves a disservice. Pamplemousse and Jester both dismiss the de jure claim as void because the House of Khalazdad's tenure [possession] of the throne has been surrendered. Rask appears to have abandoned this angle of his claim for now, and that makes things simpler.
Fact. Rask now seems to claim he can prove his fitness to rule, and this claim is consistent with the desert culture of his father ("kill them for their water") and the strongly patriarchal culture of his mother from the counter-Earth ("be defined by the swords of others"). If that is the case, let him prove himself in fact. Such proof requires no further words on the forum from anyone.
History. I am a little annoyed by the readiness of others to dismiss Rask's knowledge of the shades, and more annoyed by the assertion [claim] that the shades' will is not relevant. I encourage everyone to consider what Khalazdad's tag was and how he got it. Again, Rask's education at the hands of his very intelligent and well-versed mother should not be dismissed out of hand. It is easy to try to lampoon [ridicule] Rask as a fiction, but he is not an easy fiction because his existence is grounded in in-game events to which I, as Keith Moon, am a witness. I am not the only witness, either. That grounding makes a difference to me as an historian, even if it makes none to anyone else.
Alts. The fact that Rask is the alt of Kittiness, a now defunct account, means very little to me. It is certainly not, to my way of thinking, a reason to exclude him from serious consideration.
Roleplay. MagicDuel has historically had an uneasy relationship with roleplay. Rask, you might not realize that roleplay is technically forbidden in the forums. That is why I, at least, do not address the relationship of either of my developed characters* to the House of Khalazdad. I think it is clear that you, Rask/Kitti, are a strong roleplayer and have something to offer the game. Welcome back. Show us what you can do.
*I have another alt, Konstantin Harknesse, who sees little use and has not been much developed as a character. If you're still reading at this point, thanks for your attention.
  13.
Pamplemousse here you are speaking about 'the people' and hubris when you are the one royal power (unofficial or not) who has had no public voting associated with you.
Hubris, in the sense of excessive arrogance, hardly seems applicable to a de facto ruler who has been ceded the insigniae and thus virtually all the real power of the throne. The question of how she came to possess such symbols is, as she notes with reference to Jester's accession, belated, and I contend completely beside the point: she has the power, and speaks with the authority of her position. This discussion is tangential to the question of Rask and his suit, which as Pample notes has been stated. I believe the call for this topic to be closed is apposite; let another be opened if outsiders to Necrovion wish to discuss the throne's future.
  14. I am encountering the same bug. All VE lost regardless of fight outcome.
  15. Happy Birthday from the man in the black suit.

  17. I do not accept the proposition that Mur is a deluded paranoiac who thinks the world is out to get him. People are out to take advantage of him: his game, his generosity, and his time. We say in our family "even paranoids have real enemies." It's not a wild idea that people are out to screw Mur over. It's a documented fact. Hurting Mur is a violation of his trust. If he doesn't trust the community, how can he offer free credits for the MD shop? Many of us have bought credits while also using the free credit system. It annoys me that people are so greedy and lazy they would abuse the free credits, because they've ruined a good thing for the many of us who used the system honestly. I hope the suspension of the system remains temporary, but you won't see me threatening to make my participation in the game contingent upon its existence. The point is that because of the greed and sloth of a few, the rest of us don't get to keep nice things. Edited to fix a typo
  18. Since I can't reply in this thread... Selling angien eggs is like selling the eggs found at Wind's Crossing. Asking for silver or credits for them is, in my opinion, absolutely absurd - and that is the politest way I can put it. An egg with age (a lot of age) is another matter altogether. Since there are people running around claiming to want to "help newbies", I wanted to state my objection to this idea right from the start. Taking advantage of other people's ignorance or innocence is not being helpful. Furthermore, if certain things in MD are hard to find/buy, there's a reason. Some things must be earned. And you don't have to be a LHO to offer help without putting a price tag on it.
  19. Happy birthday to you both.
  20. Set single-creature defenses. Experiment. Ask for help and advice. It's not hard to team up with other players.
  21. Don't know if I'm too late, but I would like to bid 5 sc for #3, the angien with the darksky token.
  22. I have responded to PMs both in forum and in-game. I really like this game, but I am not bothering to document who asked me what and when. I think it's too bad that someone will likely cheat in order to get a WP. I know I won't win because Nim has been playing so assiduously and so well, but speaking for myself I can be trusted to keep my word. We shouldn't have to police ourselves to have a good time - if we do, then I am unhappy to say it shows we can't be trusted to enjoy a simple game somebody worked hard to create for us.
  23. I understand and agree. I can't say more because I didn't speak to him directly.
  24.
Pample a necro? really?
Some people think that because their characters are "dark" or "evil", they have an entitlement to be part of Necrovion. The same logic is applied to people who, it is said, do not have a place in Necrovion. Is Necrovion hell? Is it the land of evil spirits? It is not. I would be very leery of anyone claiming to be an "expert" on Necrovion. It is more than what it seems to be at first blush. In that same sense, so is Pample.
I doubt the entire idea of hierarchical leadership works well for two leaders of same power. Surely if you dont want to be king you can give her Kingship?
Cf. ancient Sparta, which had two kings.
Surely if mur wanted two leaders then he would have appointed two? There is normally method to what he does...
This decision was made with Mur's knowledge. edited to correct a typo.
  25. Happy Birthday.
