  1. looking back to the first few post of this topic, i was having issues with making crits have twice their normal strenght... interesting how the game has changed since then... and, i'm afraid, not to the better

  3. in fact, it would be extremely handy if people wouldn't talk there so broken idlers stay in picture... but since they are currently getting kicked asap, it's not too much of a trouble right now LOL

  6. it won't change too much straigth away, but if people get vics everytime they win, they get thrown off balance after some time and will need to lose, while now i can just set rits that kill and never get a vic from it... after some time, the players would need to lose on purpose to keep balance, and then (i hope) players like you, Pip, come out of their sanctuaries and fetch victories from them, get into balance again, raise critters again... right now, you and other weak players like you completely depend on the generousity of older players if you want to raise any crits at all, but if they actually needed some losses, we'd have a win-win situation and (hopefully) more cooperation
  7. well, it's somewhat strange indeed... but after all, the Gates are open 4 days a month, so it's not too much of a problem to fetch some souls, just takes some extra time ^^

  10. During the last months, MD overall activity has dropped, specially on MP5, where skill-damage makes people stop fighting... Unlike back then in the jolly old times, when Willow's and lateron GoE were crowded, happy places, these days you are lucky to find ANY player in an area where combat is allowed... but enough of the past, here are some ideas on how to change that again: First of all, without which all the following does hardly make sense, the [b] [size="5"][u]Balance Issue[/u][/b] [/size] As of yet, being balanced is a gimmick, therefore people hardly care to be in balance, this would change greatly if the things i'm about to propose get changed. Therefore, as base of all the other crap, Balance needs to be extended. Imo, it doesn't make sense to limit balance to +/- 20 fights once people have 500 and more swords and sheaths, therefore i think of a %-based balance... My suggestion would be leaving the balance as it is until people reach either (!) 250 losses or wins, and from there onwards calculating balance differently, namely by adding up swords and sheaths and dividing by two to find the perfect balance-value, then take 10% of perfect balance and add/substract it from perfect balance. If you are in those +/-10% range, you count as generally balanced, the extra rewards from balance increase with how close you are to perfection (+/-.5% = 95% balaned profile extra reward, +/-1% = 90% extra reward...) ok, that much to balance... [b] [size="5"][u]Combat Rewards[/u][/b] [/size] Now, why should people stay in balance now if they didn't bother before? Easy: when you are not in balance, you get nothing for winning! That is to say, no wins and xp for crits, no stats for your char, no honor, no loyalty... nothing 'cept for swords and sheaths! On the other hand, as soon as you are in balance, and even if you just scratch it, you get all the things just like you do now, plus a (small) extra stat-bonus which increases as you close in on balance! Oh, now that sounds fun... veterans go to perfect balance and grab endless wins, getting stronger and giving us newbies no opportunity of winning EVER, right? NO! [b] [size="5"][u]Swords and Sheaths[/u][/b] [/size] We all know the current issues about swords and sheats and how they force weaker players to inactivity, while older players bash anything they can get a hold off 0-100... I want to change that! As long as you are out of balance, all rules apply just as they do now, with one exception: fights that end in round 0 are NOT counted as loss while you are unbalanced! as long as you are in balance, ANY win counts for a victory, but sheat-rules stay as they are, forcing fighters to lose as well as win if they want to stay in balance and get something for fighting at all (don't forget, fighting out of balance gives you nothing, not even wins for saccing) You might say 'Oh wonder, a fighter who wants his victims back' and you would be right, but there's more to it than that: -Combat is what keeps people [u]active[/u], they don't stick around to wait for a new quest to start or because someone might drop by to RP with them, Battle is what makes you log on, search people, and start actions that might even have impact in RP -Combat is what brings [u]money[/u] to the server, nobody buys tokens and rusts because they look fancy, but because they want to beat someone up with them!! Can MD live without those to things? for some time yes, but not forever... I want everybody with any ideas, questions, flames, real critics, or random comments to post, and at latest when all details are dealt with, i'll bug Mur until he reads it, too... (i really hope i don't have to do that XD) me wants activity, and Jester's war plans are not the right way!

  14. ah, good thinking with the max-lvl thing, i forgot about the prems maxing at lvl 1... of course they shouldn't be affected like normal lvl 1s^^ what do you mean with extra day? do you think creatures should have to be taken out right after their minimum-stabling limit? i'd dislike that one i'll just use your (good) tablet and change a few figures: lvl / minimum / maximum / cooldown / 'punishments' for over-stabling(over max limit) lvl 1: 1 day, 2 days, 1 day cooldown. 2 wins+ 100 xp loss / extra day lvl 2: 5 days, 10 days, 3 days cooldown. 5 wins+ 300 xp loss / extra day lvl 3: 7 days, 14 days, 4 days cooldown. 7 wins+ 600 xp loss / extra day lvl 4: 14 days, 28 days, 9 days cooldown. 9 wins+ 1000 xp loss / extra day lvl 5: 18 days, 36 days, 12 days cooldown. 12 wins+ 2000 xp loss / extra day lvl 6: 21 days, 42 days, 14 days cooldown. 16 wins+ 4000 xp loss / extra day lvl 7: 31 days, 62 days, 20 days cooldown. 20 wins+ 6000 xp loss / extra day Maxed creatures, regardless of level: same as lvl 7. I'm thinking about much higher wins + xp-losses on higher level since it's pretty easy to regain them, and you can use the stable for a really long time before they kick in
  15. i'd like it better if it were level-dependent... like, lvl 1 crits have a waiting time of just 1 day, means they have to stay in stable one day and have to stay out 1 day after they are taken from it, lvl2 4 days, lvl3 a week, lvl4 10 days, lvl5 two weeks, lvl6 three weeks, lvl 7 a month (i think there is no lvl 8 crit yet, is there?) and a maximum limit for time in stable, most probably twice the time of the minimum storeage/nont-again-storage (obviously also level-dependent)... Storing something over their Max time will make the crits lose wins and xp, maybe 10 wins and 1k xp per day to start with, if they still stay stabled after 10 days over max, 50 wins and 10k xp for every day, say, the lack of training over such long times makes them lose their old experience also i wouldn't like it if the feature itself was shop-based, just the extra slots imo... what else? uhm... i guess it's okay to keep xp, wins and age... the lost VE is merely a symbolic thing, but i like the idea noentheless OH, does stabling/unstabling consume AP, VE, VP, XPL? (<-- ignore that, you've made your edit while i was posting XD)

  18. define rule-breaking... is the rule already broken when you store a crit without even inteding to ever trade it back? like, to keep the crit safe because you value it for sentimental resons, not so much as combat-crit? i agree that it's alt abuse when you store it away, put tokens on other crits, and then transfer it back to use its age for faster raising, i think Mur is totally right in deleting several accs which are clearly just storing crits to get age on them easily and are unused apart from that, and neither 'tons of people do it' nor 'i didn't know' are valid excuses, and what -I- personally think on that matter is that it would be nice if Mur sent Lifeline the CTCs of the crits he wants back and deletes the accs after Lifeline got his precious ones back... after all, he knows now that he can't do what he did, and deserves a second chance with his old IDs imo... of course they should be lost if he does it again with another alt -.-
  19. neither J nor me fight for fighting's sake, but because it's necessary to upgrade our critters and advance to the next level of the game... i can't get a vampire without upgrading my TS, i can't get my private angel without killing you with the angien hatchlings, i can't get more stamina without destroying things with my trees... you might be right with WoW and CS (btw, both games i really like) as far as pointless killing goes, which is really calming sometimes, but even in here, we can't go on without fighting, and for that we need valid targets, not stabled creatures and 'i'm on ahigher plane, don't touch me'-players... btw, i found a nice little mechanic for your role: advance to mp6 and leave your ally, then you are SOO untouchable that it almost hurts my eyes to look at your glowing energy *chuckles* and we insist on mechaincs to be used for RP because otherwise godmodding is allowed... we have had that phase and we are over it -.- PS: we are NOT dealing with kids here, you are the youngest player by far XD

    Torch Comp

    guess that'sa bug to report here... according to old announcements, torch comps should start every 8th and 16th, yet the last did somewhat NOT start i have no idea whether this is wanted, an aftermath of the bugged HC this month, or just Mur not feeling in the mood of playing torches, but some sort of announcement might be nice, even if it just says 'delayed'... my quest relies on the fact that Necro is open twice a month XD
  21. i like phantasms idea better, but would suggest asking Awii if he wanted to be leader of that ally... no, i'm totally not kidding, phantasm has done good work there, but Awii has the experience and background to lead this ally
  22. if the bridge is not exactly that small, and i haven't seen such a bridge yet, i can't keep you from walking past... i'm skinny, not ten feet in width -.- if i thoroughly bash you, by which i don't mean killing a dummy-def or jsut your combat rit, but beating you up in style, you can't go on and kill someone else, your crits will be dead Ok, that thing with stepping in between is somewhat true... but you can argue that the mechanics are only based for PvP RP, and you can step in between by slapping one of the combattants or both of them as you wish and no matter how many people are fighting you, you always finish them one by one, that's the one thing we learn from martial arts-movies xD
  23. i know one perm ban: penisfeet *can't help but chuckling* hehe, found a list of banned names... i miss the times jonn was still making them public^^ Mur Jesusmustdie Magicduellord <-- those names were actually banned before they started playing, got any idea why? *laughs* apart from that and Lighty, all perm bans were caused by some SEVERE insulting of people... chat logs can be found in the LHO section of the forums, those are things which can actually get you banned in no time...
  24. next time we meet i'll feed you to my grasan, just to prove that a weapon as simple as a club CAN harm you... or even a lolly, if i feel like using Pimped ^^ back to topic: obviously there are limits in MD! you can push some, and breaks others, if you know what you are doing, but if you leave the complete mechanics aside, you are nothing but another godmodder who earns nothing but a toad-speak... -there are limits on illusions, you don't change them like a hat, they have a cooldown of about 20 minutes, and even if you have totally no chance of really accessing one, you can either stick to the rules or have a nice 'godmodder, don't interact with!' stamp on your forehead -there are, as some people mentioned already, limits on spell-casting, which are called heat... you can store some, but at some point you are out of spell-points, and if your briskness doesn't go through the roof, you'll some time to fill your heat before casting a new spell -there are limits on engaging people in combat, 8 or 40 mins, to be exact... you can't come back after ten seconds, say you are healed, and bash me, simply cause you can't even try to bash me, the game doesn't allow that -if you don't have the patience to improve your skills in every aspect of the game, you are wrong here anyway
