  1. I like consecutive day idea. I am less thrilled about forcing a flavor on somebody - combat, wishpoints, puzzles, roleplay, LHO, etc.
  2. Great concept, but I'd quibble with your math. How about: Voting weight = Positive votes / Total Votes Received In the case of zero / zero (no record), it would be 50%.
  3. So if your popularity is negative....?
  4. There were a ton of great images in the gallery that can no longer be accessed....
  5. Currently you're asking people to choose a best and a worst, so all the information you get is on the ends of the spectrum, nothing for the bulk of the players. If you want a better view of the middle, allow everyone to vote up, down, or neutral on everybody.

  7. How about, you gain heads by the clock (random intervals) only if you stand at GoE, and lose them if you are anywhere else? (Not being "Else" anywhere, that wouldn't be fair, but..... you know what I mean).
  8. I could quickly build you a "funhouse" all black scenes in the dark, only glowing arrows visible, and those mostly one-way. How fun would THAT be? Probably not "kosher" but fun to think about.
  9. -- Always remember that this is just a game, and that there are real people with real feelings on the other side of the internet. -- Grow in the game, with the game, and contribute positively to the culture of Magic Duel itself. -- Follow your heart, and don't forget to have fun. -- Remember that in MD, even Death is just another adventure. Basic Combat for Beginners You can't attack a player directly - this is done by having your creatures attack another player's creatures. Stronger and stranger creatures give you stronger and more magical attacks. The basic mundane soldier is the Aramor (empty suit of armor). The basic battlefield medic, or healer, is the Barren Soul. When you choose to attack, you must select a collection of creatures, or ritual, from your list. If you have none yet, you must create a new one by selecting up to 6 creatures. Their combined vital energy (VE) must be at least 301, or the computer will randomize your ritual. When creating a ritual, you may also click a box that says to use that ritual in defense (most recently defined one first, off the bottom of your list). You can also adjust the "slider" which tells how much of your personal VE you are going to risk in the combat. At 0% there is no risk, but no support for your creatures. At 100% your personal statistics are added to those of your creatures. Upon selecting a ritual to attack with, you have one last chance to adjust the slider before you CHARGE! The combat results give the attacker's % loss first, then the defender's. Whoever lost less PERCENTAGE of their creature's VE gets credited with a win, their opponent a loss and the amount of damage you did determines how many heat scars (experience) you and your creatures get. However, all this gets more complicated as you advance in the game. Read the details of the combat reports to learn more about how combat works. In order to advance, you and your creatures will need to collect wins and losses. Ideally you should seek "balance" or equal numbers of wins and losses. If you attack players with higher win/loss ratios, you gain honor - if you attack less successful players you lose honor. Honor is important for purchasing and recruiting. At later stages of the game, being far out of balance has progressively worse effects. To achieve balance, ideally, you should attack strong and put up weak defenses for your training partners. Speaking of which.... GROUP PLAY: This is a game more about relationships and roleplay, than it is about combat; you will enjoy this game much more if you work to develop a social network. You will stay engaged and happy. Peers – Find players you can trust and grow alongside. Share with them and support them. Rivals – Find other players you can compete against without loathing them. Make it a race. Learn who is slightly below you (good targets) slightly above you (challenges) and way beyond you (don't annoy them). Study their tactics. Mentors – Not just MP6's, most advanced players will help anybody who shows a desire to learn and do well.
  10. We need a mechanism to change the name of a creature, especially when transferred intact from another player. Don't know what it should cost, maybe 1 credit for 1, or wp for all.
  11. Eight of the twelve garden plots have been cleared for your use. The remaining four will be somewhat different - they will be Community Garden plots. Each will be dedicated to one particular crop and will require something called "Compost" to generate crops. Look for that in future.
  12. Jakubhi passed me the Beer Stein, I put toadspeak on myself (got quacks), then drank. For a period of time, no clickies functioned properly. I got the error messages in message boxes shown below. Repeated clicks on arrows eventually got me through. Trying the clicky that cures drunk did not work, though it did get resets. The error message jak reported above was displayed along the top of the normal screen, not in a msg box. After the effects ran their normal course, all the messages went away, and clickies functioned normally.
  13. jakubhi reports an error message: [22/01/22 22:19] jakubhi:Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /home/magicdue/public_html/core/class.user.php on line 2072 Which occurred after he drank an alcoholic beverage (public Beer stein) while already under Toadspeak. This did not change his condition.
  14. Easiest way to code might be: Random intervals accumulate more points. Point value gets a multiplier based on accessibility of land but the reverse - NC is LOW points, out in the open is HIGH points (bravery). Negative points if you're offline with heads.
  15. Rules to consider - I'm not advocating these, just throwing out ideas: Going fully offline you start losing heads. Going outside of contest boundaries you start losing heads. Your score is an average of a number of randomly timed spot checks throughout the contest period - not peak, not end. All ability to transfer heads is blocked (unless you'd rather do formal teams) during the contest. Certain things like full defensive shield and MP7 illusion abilities not allowed.
  16. I will help as needed.
  17. Let me clarify - the creature that had the dark shield was named "Fyrd" and that 4136 would match the creature's age. Character was 80 days older.
  18. purpurfog did not seem to scale properly with slider - 100-75% drop on slider only 10% drop on effect. The onyx fang might be explained by it giving boost based on root attack, not modified for equipment and house. [darkshield] Dark Shield - 50% chance to add creature age to its defence. Fyrd's age was probably 4136 so looks good. [emeraldglare] Emeral Glare -Gives the creature one fifth of the regeneration and defence of the enemy creature in same slot. I can't figure this because I still havn't grasped why positions change from ritual definition to actual combat, and what group theoretical rotation/reflection/etc. is used to define "same slot". Do you need me to conduct further tests?
  19. Thanks to Aia, a mystery was solved. It seems that a certain species of wasp native to Loreroot bored into certain branches to make their home. These branches have been prized by gardeners, as they split easily lengthwise and were especially easy to make into wood lattices for mushrooms. However, since their homes were being destroyed, the wasp were taking their revenge by stealing any acid a person might have, and taking it back to encourage growth of their own food sources. As I said, thanks to Aia, the wasp species has been eradicated from the area. Sorry to say, it will be slightly harder to set up multiple wood lattices for mushrooms, but no worse than any other crop. Happy Gardening!
  20. "Spells learned here remain permanently in your spell inventory". Not true, they dissappear if you dip back to MP5. They also disappear every so often with spell resets where Protectors can choose another path.
  21. Add chriselnenepr and Jakubhi to the list of winners. Congratulations!
  22. Seems there is an issue with the screen resets messing with initialization of new garden plots. The solution is in the tool shed - new button "First Aid" as follows: Sometimes when you first approach a new garden plot, you have an allergic reaction to the heady fumes. You tend to pass out whenever you look over the empty dirt. {ie. no buttons show when "You examine what's happening in this garden plot."} You can get an innoculation against this condition, but beware - if you use these meds and don't actually need them, you could get pretty sick. Which garden plot is giving you trouble?
  23. The hut sound is now optional.
  24. That's a bug we're working on (which is to say it's on Chewie's list). There is evidently a ceiling set that resets you to something as max, even if you started over that.
