Tiny men are busy as hell and Santa is undusting his cloak. Christmas is already in front of our doors and New Year is coming very soon! Treasure Keepers want to contribute to overall festive mood by announcing a New Year Lottery 2016!
 
Lottery tickets, which you can by from me (Time Patrol) in game for 2 sc each will contain 4 random generated numbers (I will make sure that there will be no doubles). You can buy as many tickets as you want to!
 
The lottery will take place at Gazebo of Equilibrium at January 1. 2016 at 22 ST.
 
If you got a lucky ticket you might get following prizes:
 
4 correct digits - a Shade!
 
3 correct digits - an aged reindrach!
 
2 correct digits - a Sharptear!
 
 
It is obvious that the numbers need to be in correct order and next to each other (next to each other means if winning combination is 1234 you got a ticket 1284 you will NOT get a reindrach but a sharp, if you get a ticket 1238 or 8123 you will get a reindrach). But if you would get a ticket with all 4 correct numbers but in different order, we might get you some consolation prize ;)
 
For those who could not be present at the draw I will post the combination on forum so that they can check later.
 
The procedure is simple: I will roll a 1 digit die 4 times for a winning combination. If nobody gets the first prize with this combination I will roll again. Second and third prizes can be obtained from both winning combinations but only once per ticket!

Generally in situations like this you need to step back and look at the whole situation rather than any sum of parts.
 
Here is, from what I can see, what happened and what has angered some people.
 
Grido used a tool which lets his excommunicate and jail Eon, losing the alliance. This is a perfectly legal move, and as one of the kings of the land he can do this (or really anyone holding that tool, but thats another matter).
 
It then appears Eon used a bug to leave jail. Here he made a mistake by not reporting the bug.
 
At this point I think grido tried to send Eon back to jail by grabbing him. From what I can see this didnt work (due to whatever) and therefore he decided to use his jail spell to do so. Here he made a mistake as he forgot the most important rule "Do not use admin tools for situations you are involved in". He also didnt report the bug (until later).
 
And then everyone seemed to make a mistake by blowing up the forum again arguing about who is right or wrong. Roleplay your anger, even dst can roleplay, so can you! (mea culpa dst)
 
For better or for worse, I am the only one who can if what has happened is abuse or not. Yes we have some rules which lead you to a conclusion but at the end of the day MD will always be run by people, and not a set of continuously moving goalposts.
 
So then it comes the question, what do I think? What harsh punishments shall I lay out? The first thing I  have to think is, what  would I have done about Eon escaping jail? Well he never reported the bug and just used it. I still havent actually had a bug report so Eon is clearly in the wrong here. I hope I will receive one via email/PM soon.  Technically abusing a bug and not reporting it, especially one leaving jail is quite a big abuse, but I will get onto that later.
 
Then I have the question, what do I do about Grido who is, clearly, according to the rules, abusing his admin powers by using them to "fix" something. He has admitted that he made a mistake using them and should have contacted someone else to resolve the situation. The rules do point out that Eon therefore does deserve to be put back as he "broke the rules" by escaping, so he does have some footing, but he acknowledges now that he did do wrong. Abusing an admin spell is also quite a big abuse, similar to the one Eon did.
 
But, in the end of the day we have had two good conclusions from this. We have had  a little bit of excitement (Eon does send wonderfully Roleplayed PM's) and some action and I have had a time to clarify some rules for everyone. And we have a new bug to fix! (well... newish, I think I know the bug they used)
 
Therefore im going to do nothing to either of them. Grido has understood what he did wrong and I believe Eon will be sending me a bug report tonight. I can imagine some are going to go away from this going "oh letting them get away with murder" but actually punishment is used in MD as a learning point generally. I think both parties have learnt something.
 
I shall survey what is happening over the next couple days and have a think about the situation. Kyphis has already offered asylum so potentially another land might also let Eon escape by doing this.

The take home message I would like to impart on everyone is, The rules are not hard and fast and we try and be fair. Both parties have abused something and hopefully learnt something too.
 
And all of this fun, should have been ingame! I act in this situation as the GM (so Eon you can stop sending the marvellously worded PM's asking me to declare my loyalty) because you guys can roleplay, and you should :)

Not really liking this because I feel it lessens the idea of a wishpoint (rewarding multiple wishpoints to the same winner at one quest. E.G. 3 WPs for 1st place).

Ratings are mostly given on grounds of how well participant did in relation to questmakers expectations. They rate the quality of effort/genius for specific "quest" but you can't compare WP one from one quest to WP won from another quest made by another questmaker.
 
For example.
One WP is won on a super hard quest that had 100 active participants and lasted 2 months.
Other WP is won on a quest that had 5 participants with task to recite short poem about how fluffy and evil Ary is and put it on youtube and be judged as best.
In my eyes they can't compare :p second one is obviously worth 10 WPs not just one. :rolleyes:
 
Lastly ratings of WP don't mean anything in practice besides some average number on scoreboard that (almost) nobody cares about.

For me this rises the question of how much is WP worth nowadays in relation to effort/genius invested to acquire it. I'm pretty sure that many can agree that some WPs were acquired way easier than others due to varied difficulty of tasks.

We can already reward multiple positions with WPs.
 
This topic seems to me to just point to inflation, and how the reward/skill gain system has failed to evolve adequately. I don't see offering multiple WPs as a fix to this situation, it will only make it worse.

I am migrating md to a better server, this process will take a couple hours and will probably end up with a lot of errors  (lets hope not)
 
Same process is going on for the other server with bmmo, so basically everything is down right now,and no, there is no way i could have done that without it being down during this.
 
The problem is i am "down" too, i am almost out of the door leaving for a very long trip, in case things go really bad i am counting as usual on chew to save the situation :P
 
I had to make this change now because due to recent activity the storage was full and we had also some persisting attacks, and this is a first step to an other change i am having in mind later on.

I would like to apply to such a role, I have a good knowledge of HTML and CSS and a fine eye for art and people, I am sure I could make peoples pages exactly how they would like to. I will create their pages not only how they request it, but adding beauty and style according to the person's character and role.

Summary
 
  This idea would use resources, items, and totems for its “combat” rather than creatures. Each land would try to defend it's borders, build totems to increase its power, and attack other lands.
 
Totems
 
 This idea is central to this new contest idea. Totems would be able to be built by land citizens and knocked down by citizens of other lands. They would have multiple stages each, with each stage giving progressively higher benefits. Examples of benefits are increased resource regeneration or torch stat growth, access to higher level cauldrons for better items, better resource gatherers and so on. A special Totem would be the land gates, which when built would deny access to any outsiders holding torches until they were knocked down.
 
Resources
 
 Resources would be the same in every land but with a different prefix. Resources need to be balanced and that is impossible with the way they are currently. Only members of that land would be able to harvest that land's resources. However, each land would also be given a resource incinerator, which destroys a resource without gathering it, allowing enemies to deplete another land's resources and prevent building and item creation. Two types of resources would exist, building and items. Building resources for creating totems, and items to influence the item-less combat.
 
(Clarification: I mean entirely new resources would be created. If resources that already existed were used players who have stockpiled thousands would have a hugely unfair advantage, and with the way the resources are set up certain lands with their guilds would have this weighted unfairly in their favor. If lumber was used for this scenario it would be Necrovion Lumber and Golemus Lumber with a Necrovion Axe used to specifically harvest the lumber from their land. The Golemus Incinerator would destroy one unit of that Necrovion Lumber.)
 
Cauldrons
 
 Torch-specific cauldrons would allow for the creation of items that could help or hinder a player. Examples include a higher level “death” item, which sends the player back to their capital and prevents movement and gathering, and a revival item which would need to be used on them before they could continue participating, as well as lower level items that damage totems or boost or lower a player's capabilities.
 
Torch Stats
 
 Stats specific to Torches, such as resource gathering, demolition and construction, would be reset after each contest to prevent one land's citizens from getting too far ahead and discouraging people from participating in the contest. One central stat which increased every time the related stats increased and gave small bonuses to the other stats growth could possibly remain, however. Example is a Torch resource gathering stat which slightly increased the rate you gain other resource gathering stats and carries over from contest to contest, giving dedicated players a mild boost compared to new ones.
 
Torch Points
 
 Upon successfully taking a torch to another capital, the land would be given a Torch Point. Once the contest has been concluded for that month, the land's Ruler would be able to give out the land's points to the people who participated in the contest (or it could be partly automatic to prevent the Ruler having to choose and possibly offend some of their citizens). These points would be used in a Torch Points shop, which would have an interface similar to the Wish Point shop.
 
Conclusion
 
 I believe this would provide much-needed entertainment, as well as bringing in quite a few more people to MagicDuel. The players who participate in contests like this also seem to be the ones most prone to spending real money in the MD shop, so it could provide essential revenue as well. Additionally this would make land loyalties much more important and provide some sparring opportunities between them.

I've read the logs, and dst's blog and I understand that she thinks I'm selfish for trying to become MP6 when the population is so low.
I would like to make a few things clear: 
I was aware that it would be hard for the population to support more than 2 MP6s at the same time. I am not an extremely competitive person and I do not wish anyone's harm. However, I believe this mindpower is open for everyone who wishes to aim for it, and regardless of age and experience, in the end we should have an equal shot.  I did not went to  "steal" any current mp6's adepts. The "meaningless mp3s" dst mentioned are new people I tried to bring in the game using my referral link, who unfortunately didn't stay, except one. I tried getting adepts in a healthy way for the game itself, not by creating conflicts and chaos NOR by trying to ruin other people's MP6 status. The exception from that may be the Marind Bell people who offered to support me ( I do not know who they adepted before, nor did I insist for them to adept me instead).  I am aiming for MP6, but that doesn't mean I want to create chaos and make it happen overnight. I did not make public announcements begging to get adepts, I don't even have the necessary heat I need for it. I think it's a longer journey and I am willing to go slowly, learn things and gain experience myself.  Achieving MP6, for me, would create some sort of "symbiosis" with what I'm planning for Witty's role, which involves a lot of selflessness and is focused on the community, especially helping out newbies.   
This is all I have to say for now, I am open to discuss things further.

First of all I expressed an opinion. Last time I checked I was not forbidden to do that.
Second, yes, I totally agree that anyone can try for more.
Third: I never said you "stole" the adepts (as for the "meaningless" they would have been meaningless no matter if they were yours or someone elses's - I pointed them out just as being null in the economy of the whole adept hood).
 
What I did say is that yes, I consider this a selfish move (or you being selfish - same ting) because in the process it robbed us of an MP6 (yes, I like to have options so sue me :D). I didn't know if you knew the consequences or not (now I know) and I believe you when you say you didn't want to create chaos. You didn't create chaos. Just a frustration feeling (at least for me, maybe for others and certainly for EE). I didn't want to create chaos either. I simply expressed an opinion (this is why I didn't even bother to post on the forum).
 
Personally I don't believe you'll be able to pull this through - hence my frustration - (not in the present conditions - I do hope things will change pretty soon since we already were given clues about that by Chew and Mur) but if you do then hats off.
 
And yes, if it were for me to choose, I think EE deserves it more cause he invested more time into this (I am defo not an EE fan, I still remember when he tried to cheat things in MD) and I simply dont find it fair that this might be reduced to a popularity contest ( EE is not the best RPer or social person but the mp6 and lho jobs that he does, he does it very well - someone recently told me that he's so positive that he's almost unreal - I totally agree so for that I think he deserves more).

How I see things:
 
The interface can be improved a lot but there is no time and no "bandwidth" allocated to it and I am well aware of why.
On the other hand, there are people with knowledge to make their life easier. Their knowledge could be used. I am really not getting why they are shunned (or maybe in No one's case I do get why and imo it's a childish reason).
 
So, seems "scripting" is not allowed in MD, the best solution is to do it but just keep it for yourself (which contradicts the belief that all people should have the same advantages). We're going in circles here.
 
No one had an idea which he remembers from time to time: to have a toolbar where you could add scripts made by players. It's not only doable but it also allows the official coders (be it Chew or Mur) to have a control of what is used, other players are sure the scripts are not harmful and occasional coders have a place where they put their work.
 
Why ban it when you can use it? You will still cannot stop players that really want to abuse MD if they really want to so what's the point in banning all scripts?
