  1. Thanks for clearing it out I knew I missed something, just couldn't find that particular rule...
  2. How is the score 4:0? If you won the first two, shouldn't it have stopped there?
  3. And there _is_ a transfer of value. What I meant when I said this isn't about transferring value, is that it's not the value transfer that's important. The value here is those points, generated with a formula taking into account AD, and redeemable later on (I thought of) with the TKs.
  4. Last question was yours, right? Not part of quote well, i assume that experiment has been concluded...maybe...
  5. It's true there's plenty of ways to transfer value, but this is not about transferring value. You see, most of the time "new players" are alts, so people don't even bother talking to them. With this system, you'd be more inclined to speak to someone at PC (tho you'll be wary), because it's something you want done and the system allows you to, in a pretty straightforward and official way. Edit: re-read the comments, I'm not sure we're on the same track here, I didn't speak of mini-quests for noobs, I spoke of personal tasks that are your own selfish wishes. This is not to help the noobs, this is to help US, the older players. But, ok, let's see if you can spin the idea in a workable fashion. I repeat, WE need a change in attitude, new players simply react to us.
  6. I would automate the points generation and giving away only, because the tasks would be all-you-can-imagine A role, huh...I wouldn't want that PWR to intervene too much into the whole deal, though. For example, I would scout the PC for somebody new, then send a message with "Hi, I am Ungod, welcome to MD bla bla blah. I would like your assistance with something. You can gain some interesting stuff in the process." And then, if she or he agrees, make her/him recruit 12 birds and age them to sacc for fenths after 7 days...and give those points myself.

    New ideas

http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/17454-handling-new-players/ an idea regarding a system for handling new players
  8. I've been cooking an idea about a way to handle new players for some time. Free exploration is fine, but maybe something can be added to make the immersion into the realm easier? The idea is simple, and it's about tasks. Not quests, just selfish wishes veterans have, and that can be fulfilled by new players. "Using noobs" is a way to put it, but I like to look at it as "cooperation for mutual benefits". For example, I may want to send a messenger to a mainland, but I'm at odds with the queen/king. A neutral party might help. Or maybe I want to collect a memory stone, but I'm too lazy to move *cough* *cough* Hi, Mag0 This can be done without a system, but creating one would be a boost to the initial interaction with the world. (no?) What I mean by system: vets can issue tasks to new players (a vet = over a certain number of ADs) a new player will not be able to receive tasks after he/she has a number of AD; the exact days needed should be calculated with a formula taking into account the vet's AD and the noob's AD players will get some points as reward from vets that can be changed into some minor spellstones, tea or other things, by the TKs (or special items, temporary - like a paintball gun item that creates stuff like "player X the White]", "[player Z the Green]" when shot) these points should be 'generated' by vets in some way, taking their AD into account...I don't know how, but there should be a limit to them (a maximum limit of points a veteran can give a new player, also a maximum limit per week/month a vet can have) I guess such a system would be interesting for a few weeks only for a new player, but who knows. Do you think it could work?
  9. If anyone wants to participate, drop me a message. Otherwise, I will probably introduce a deadline of a week or so. Edit: Quest active until next Monday, 20th Edit: Thank you for participating, I will be reviewing the two entries and come with a decision in the next days.
  10. The Apex link currently says: Fatal error: Database error in "/home/apexwebg/public_html/sources/misc/session.php" on line 29 Table './apexwebg_visiolist/VL_sessions' is marked as crashed and should be repaired in /home/apexwebg/public_html/sources/sql/mysql.php on line 89 We'll see if it gets fixed in a day or two.
  11. This looks like hard work, but it might do. I wonder how long it would take to build this...

  13. Goodbye, Aethon...for now.
  14. I have received a "crossbow" solution, which should work nicely.
  15. I think this one's done We have a victor - and the name is Nimrodel! congratz
  16. Meet Slotsh, the village idiot. Or genius. Whichever he is, the villagers describe him thus: "Oh, him... Yeah, that boy always runs around, collecting scraps and junk to make...things that nobody could care less about. Why doesn't he get a nice girl and settle somewhere? Although, I don't know who would marry such a good for nothing air-head." Slotsh has recently acquired a secret wish - to visit the Angien island. He has been told not to try to swim across, because many people lost their lives so. He can't use the boat, because he can't get at the magic of the Seekers, so he decided to take the matter into his own hands. So he built this: The plan is to enter a barrel, catapult it into the lake and then swim with an oar until he reaches the island. But Slotsh wouldn't risk his life without a test -so he took a barrel from Maple Road at night and rolled it to the 'catapult'. Success! The barrel floats! Thinking that next night he will steal another barrel, Slotsh wanted to go get some sleep, when he discovered a red sock in the grass... Slotsh has an uncle, Ted. Ted is an alcoholic. Slotsh immediately understood what happened - his uncle must have entered the barrel to drink the bushie wine and fell asleep inside. Damn the darkness! Can we help Slotsh get the barrel with his uncle back, somehow? Actually, Sloths will be doing the work, you only need to provide the idea. Magic is not his forte, so it needs to be a machine or something a villager with a knack for mechanics can build (but you must also show us a sketch of it, if it's a machine). There are rewards in stock - a WP for the best idea, a Nutcracker for the second best, and a Kids IQ test common item for third best. #saveUncleTed Final note: since I don't want to take people's chance at getting a WP, I will be judging it (I'd rather not have complaints after, but whatever). I would be grateful if someone would assist me in judging, but know that you cannot participate if you decide to help me thus.
  17. Since I have internet now, I can reply in "real time" now. The quest will run for a few more days, then I will announce some winners
  18. Some funny looking guys asked for your help. They had a party last night and in the morning they saw that one of them is missing. He was last seen entering this room. Can you find clues as to what happened to him? Rewards: 1st place gets to choose from 1 Imp, 1 root warrior, 1 gold, 1 sharptear, 1 root warrior, 1 gold; 2nd place from what is left etc How it works: start a forum conversation with me, stating actions (example: "I examine the books", "I open the sack") and I will answer with the result of your actions. This is a race, and because of the time issues (delays on my part, delays on your part), the rewards aren't great. However, I will try to measure the time spent as accurately as possible.
  19. There's still time until I wake up tomorrow, but for now I'll announce the winner....Magohi! (you will have to wait until the TKs get to you; Mago)
  20. tomorrow is the last day
  21. Eh, looks like I lost my bushies as well. I put 105 bushies the same day as my fellow Marind Bell citizens, and double checked it a few times. Counter started at 260 000 and went down, everything seemed fine. Today I see the device is storing 0 bushies, which pretty much means I have to get wasted in the Tribunal Pub now.
  22. so, if I have 5 bushies (43), I have 43 stacks of 5 bushies? maybe that's how it's supposed to work, but it's not how it actually works. maybe you fixed it, but it worked lik this: I have bushies (X), then if I receive one from someone, I'd get 2 bushies (42)
  23. (Eara posted while I was writing, now I have to rewrite my stuff) As she said, there are only a few 'regulars', and I don't think most of them would like to make the numbers public After all, there's still resource militia and depletion issues around... And Miq's reply shows how most of MD deals with resources - if we need them, we deplete them
