Which is why we are advising things one way or another :) Next year we will just do what council did, everyone gets told their quests will be sponsored, we work out it all once the quests have run.

We are trying to balance the rewards cross people, some people are rewarding massive rewards for their quests and some are rewarding essentially nothing.

Day hosts make requests, we approve them. Anyone have problems with day hosts, contact me and BFH. As for the deadline, give me it on the day, or after if you need be, if im around I will work as hard as I can to get you stuff.

Yes you are right, it could have been given and considered a reward.

You raise a good question, why do LHO's have chatban and toadspeak if they are not meant to moderate and deal with things? Perhaps we should remove this from them, and make people who actually know the rules have these powers?

Early in the games start, there were moderators. Then their roles changed to "live help" and many of these players were the old moderators. I have been consistently reiterating that LHO's now are not moderators. They may have this role from other positions they hold but being a LHO does not make you a moderator.

As a note on creatures, since art people are prettymuch "MD buying it" they will always undervalue the value.

I believe this guide can go on the wiki, since it may have some general answers/faq type questions but it will just make it easier to edit and such.

LHO will not be dealing out judgements or punishment. I generally consider them to help newbies and be general advice but not necessarily an authority on rules.

Simply put, we are probably not going to use absolute positioning. The code just needs some cleaning, its a throwback from the old old old days. Its never been properly changed and made nice with new stuff.

I would agree, for the most part. There are cases where some people who are not currently LHO, could do a damn good job.

Recently a LHO was expediated through the system, there does not seem to have been a massive issue with this, so perhaps this is the way to go? There have been lots of problems in the past where LHO's sat in the waiting cue for months. Idea: Someone applies via any LHO, this is posted on their forum. A weeks discussion is held and open for all LHO's to discuss. After that a vote is held and an opinion formed. If the vote is a yes, then they are entered, and the post it hidden (like it is now) this lets everyone be entirely honest about what they think. If its no the person who originally was asked to post the topic relays this back and any reasons (note only reasons that people explictly say can be made public, will be, dont just copy peoples personal views).

There is no right answer, its your opinion :) I have a vague idea of what I think, but im looking for others opinions too.

Grido and I are of the opinion that, if there was a simple drop in replacement for him, we would do it without a moments hesitation. We would both probably replace him with Burns but burns is inactive to the same level of grido. So we would lose the regularity of Grido applying the same "gridoness" to the situation (possibly giving us less fair decisions due to the change) and gain nothing. These methods are ideally, to be developed so that no player needs to do this large role alone. If there was one player who could then we would just shift it all to them. I think we can all see that all the jobs Grido does, is too much for one person. The single manager position works well for smaller groups, but it doesnt scale. More people causes a lot more complexity and it is generally accepted that the fewer "managers" the smoother something can run. But there comes lots of points where you need more managers to get it done faster, and I think we are at this point.

As part of the LHO improvements I am suggesting we implement, this is stage two of finding some LHO recruiters - http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/16402-lho-improvements-recruitment-agent/ Now we have someone who could act as this recruiter, we need to first define, or redefine what a LHO should be, what they should do, and therefore what qualities they should have. Once we know what LHO's should be nowadays, we can look into who we should be recruiting and how.

Merely how I wrote it. I have no issue if we replace grido, or entirely remove the LHO leader. Until that decision has been decided on, he is still the LHO leader. I personally believe that we need _someone_ as a head or some structure. I wont be removing him until we have a solid structure in place or a new player. I disagree, Adding a whole new system of recruitment, having a guide, and changing how LHO's can work is massive. But if you disagree, I will again ask you to make a new topic so we can discuss your plans :) --- Im not trying to stick to a current system, im trying to get the best system. But people just complain and never actually help improve it. So if I have no recommendations to improve it, its going to be changed how I want. My worst solution, is better than everyone elses when they dont bother to post it and just attack all ideas. Because your perfect solution is worthless when we dont know of it and cant implement it. Note: "your perfect solution" is not an attack on Rheagar, just a general point and general problem in MD that people attack ideas but never present better ones. Iv seen a problem with LHO, I talked to people, these are the points Grido and I came up with. In all that time no one else presented any issues, so these are mine and some of the ideas I had to fix them.

If there is going to be more than one person, they would be in charge of dealing with the applicant. The overall decision would have to be made by some kind of agreed vote by LHO's or a similar group.
