They only damage Loreroot and create hurt. If this was let go unpunished then no future king or governing group could ever function. Everytime someone felt they didn’t like the outcome of elections or actions taken, then we would have unrest. If people feel that I have become tyrannical and lost the plot it is up to you to voice that. Indeed I plead for you the people to stand up and voice your opinions on the matters at hand. Loreroot is not just my domain, it is the home of many. So far I feel that I have the support of the majority, but many have thus far been silent. You should speak up and let your voice be heard. As justification of the charge of treason, I submit this extract of a conversation at Bob last night. "Citizen entails a number of things. [/quote] Nowhere in your own definition of "citizen" do you state one must obey the king and every word that he utters. Nowhere did I find published the "rule of the Land” or the "rules of citizenship". I spoke out [b]not[/b] against Loreroot, but against the actions of a man not worthy to be king. No where do I incite others to attack Loreroot. I swore fealty to Rhaegar...never to you, and I serve the people of Loreroot, and the Savelite church. Not you...and I have vowed to protect it. Not you...and that is what we are doing...protecting the land and supporting its people, all of its people, not just the ones you like, from an enemy posing as our king. I have committed no acts of treason. The moment you allowed Your RL friend Yrthillian to attack Loreroot, and in particular Raven...without publicly condemning his actions...you betrayed Loreroot. You were, at the time, a member of the high counsel, and the ambassador for the GOTR...and yet you were nowhere to be found... Yrthillian stated in the forum, that there were some he would [b]not allow [/b]to be "King of Loreroot" without bringing war to our land, of which Raven was named...but that he would also support some within the ranks of the guardians to be king...It seems he supports you Firsanthelass...the one member of the counsel that did not object to Yrth's decree or his threats. The leader of Golemus decided who would and who would not be "king" of another land. Is that how the other Kings of this realm took power? I think not. Oh yes I know there was an election...but with the threat from Golemus looming, should the people of Loreroot elect the "wrong person" to the throne. That is why you are named usurper... the Taint of your betrayal will never leave you Firsanthelass. No doubt you will deny it...but the record of your actions and inactions is there for all to see. Rhaegar learned of your treachery when he was researching the LR history. You have disliked him ever since and stood in his way, time and time again, to bring about positive changes and activities to LR and its people. Just as you have stood in the way of others. That is why you attack him and why he was forced by your tyranny to stand up and say "enough." You may hold the position...but you are no King. It is time for a change. Blackwood Forest has done nothing...still you condemn him. Proving that you are a tyrant. You spend your time and effort insuring your position ever fearful of those around you, instead of working to better your lands and people. Who will you kick out next Firsan? Will you kick out every one who is Rhaegars friend? Will you kick out everyone who doesn't agree with you? What about those who criticize you...will you kick them out too? What about those within your own alliance? We have friends there too you know. Who can you trust Firsan? OH yes that’s right...your RL friend Yrth, we must not forget that threat... I wonder will golemus attack Loreroot should we throw the puppet off his throne? I know what you can do firsan, If you throw everyone out you can be king of Loreroot all by yourself. You currently have the power to "excommunicate me” and I accept my two week sentence. As those who know me and my habits...I rather like it here...more time for me to draw and write...as for your excommunication...I am now and will remain a member of Loreroot, and the satellites. You have done nothing but weaken your own realm. Rhaegar remains the leader of the Savelites, albeit in exile...you may take away the symbol but you cannot change the reality. Rhaegar is a leader, just as you are not. He is a man of honor, just as you are not. Position changes nothing...title changes nothing. We, and there are many of us Firsan, do not bring war upon Loreroot, or its people, or any of it's alliances. We are coming for you. BlackThorn As a note outside of character...I am rather dismayed at the poor and neglected condition I have found the game to be in since I returned...I have seen so few new players and even fewer active veterans. Part of the problem as I see it, is due to there being very little to role-play about. I understand Mur that you have a great need to control us for your own purpose...but I still do not understand why. You have Imagination as one of the principles of this realm, but we are told not to express it in this way or in that. The sheer number of Rules is astounding, and to be honest, I do not have the time to keep up with them all. Imagination is about freedom not control. So why so much control and intimidation? I am not writing this to disparage you but to ask in an open an honest way, why? Why can we not just play the way we want, however we want. I have read what you have written about the subject, and more...still I do not understand you or your need to control us. Why do we need kings, or a jail...not that I don't like this one...could use some curtains though, and a window to go with it...? I understand you are behind it all, but I still cannot understand your motives. At least I hope I do not...for I am acting under the assumption that you want the game to succeed. Yrth's so called Reasons are all contrived: Made up. We do not support those who seek power. Those who seek power over others need not come to Loreroot, for here you will not find it. What is most unique about Loreroot is that we support one another and encourage one another. I am the second oldest active member of the High Council. Raven is the first. We were there when Nelya laid its foundations. It was not then, nor has it ever been a body to rule others, but rather a Body to serve others. Raven does not seek the title of "Archon" (which means leader) for himself; he seeks it for Loreroot. He did so at my urging. We have always had a single leader in Loreroot. It was only recently that we felt the need to have an official title bestowed so that there is no more confusion as to who our leader is. We recognize that it is necessary to consolidate authority in a central figure to allow for quick and decisive action primarily for the defense and preservation of the Loreroot Alliances and our people. Nelya, with the support of the majority of the high council, left Loreroot Alliance in Ravens hands as a contingency. It was our wish that, should the need arise, Raven would take control of Loreroot and the council to preserve our traditions. Even after Nelya went missing (first due to changes in her employment and then later because of her health), it was more than two months before Raven finally took official control of Loreroot alliance. We all Love Nelya and she is sorely missed. He did not seek power for himself but rather to serve as he was asked. That is what the high council has always been about; service to Loreroot and all of MD. You might ask any of its members how they came to be on the high council. The circumstances are different, but the answer is always the same. They are those who work to make Loreroot (and all of MD) a better place by their actions and service to others. Not one sought power, for that is not what the council is about. Rather each sought to help their fellow players. The high council has no authority in Loreroot. It never had. What it does have is the respect of the people and the Leader of Loreroot. Raven has always sought to consult at least one member of HIS council before making any decision. As I stated before, this is not a vote as to whether Raven should be Archon, but rather a vote to recognize that he already is Archon. Tarquines and Savel were made aware that this is how Loreroot worked. Both were eager to give their fealty to Nelya and become members of the High council. Tarquines still gives fealty to Loreroot Alliance and Raven as Archon of Loreroot. King Bull was sought by the council to take control of the Savelites in the absence of our dear friend Savel. He was already a member of the High council from when he was an honored member of Loreroot Alliance. He also, as the leader of the Savelites, offers his fealty to Loreroot Alliance and to Raven as Archon. I am BlackThorn, Bard of Loreroot. NelyaSetesh, Lady of the Root, has asked me to begin this on her behalf, and so I must. "First I will tell you of what has already transpired." \\ "Oh BlackThorn where are you taking me?" NelyaSetesh was in no mood for any of the bard’s silly games. She was worried about the developments in the balance between Golemus and Necrovion and how it would affect Loreroot. The loss of Wodin still weighed heavily on her heart. "If you are wasting my time, my boot will meet your face." She growled. BlackThorn was not in his usual take-life-as-it-comes mood. He seemed quite in earnest as he led the beautiful nymph deep into a very secluded part of the wildwood. At her words he seemed to wince as if she had just slapped him, and he was quiet. "What is going on?" she said. "You are never this quiet. In fact, most times I find it rather hard to shut you up." She was beginning to grow concerned about her friend, and that made her angry. She turned to him and asked, "What’s wrong BlackThorn?" "We are almost there." he said turning to her in a low and quiet voice. "Listen." Nelya stopped next to where BlackThorn stood. He had his eyes closed. She tapped her foot anxiously on the ground, frustration and the pressures of the council weighing down upon her. "I don't hear any thing." she said. BlackThorn looked at her with tears welling up in his eyes. He said, "I didn't ask you to hear, I asked you to listen." Her anger left her then and she said, “BlackThorn I've hurt you. I'm sorry." He smiled at her and said, “I grew up here. In this valley." Nelya looked around at the ancient trees and thick carpeted moss covering the forest floor. “This was your home? Before The knator Lord found you?" He shook his head in the affirmative. “I would like to meet the vine you call your Mother." she said with kindness. "It must have been terribly lonely for you here." she said when he didn't speak. "No" he replied. "It wasn't. HE was always here. Always." Nelya began to feel her heart beat faster. “Who was here?" she asked in a distracted kind of voice. "The Knator Commander did not know why I was abandoned here." He said. "But I do, now. It was to prepare me, so I could bring you here." Nelya could feel him now. He was so close. " HE is calling me." She said as if in a dream, and then began to run. She ran until her lungs burned but that did not matter. "HE" was calling her. She reached the center of the valley and there all in a circle stood a copse of the most ancient trees she had ever seen. She hurried to them and ran around them desperately searching for a way in. Nelya found a space large enough for her to just squeeze through. Inside she saw the same thick carpet of moss surrounded by the circle of ancient trees. A small fresh spring bubbled up from the depths. Standing stones with archaic Glyphs were scattered and tilted about. She new what to do. As she spoke NelyaSetesh knelt to the ground with her arms outstretched to the sky, and in an archaic Nymphic language she cried out: "Most ancient Father, heart of the wildwood, Giver and Keeper of Life, accept from me your most obedient child this gift and awaken." The wind began to blow and rain began to fall. She lowered her hands to the ground as pulses of yellow light surged from her body and were absorbed into the mossy floor. The ancient stones sprang to life and the strange glyphs began to pulsate with power. After long minutes, Nelya’s sacrifice stopped. She was exhausted almost to the point of death. But then an answering rumble could be heard from far below the forest floor. The rumble grew louder as Nelya tried and failed to get to her feet. She could feel the life slipping away from her. "He is awake." She was utterly spent and hung on to life only to see Him one time before death claimed her mortal frame. At the very center of the circle of the copse, the ground began to heave and crack open. Root rose up from the ground and from his long slumber. He looked to his Priestess Nymph and she was suddenly bathed in light. Nelya felt the life of Root pour into her body. She was filled with his effulgence and yet still more flooded in, great stores of secret knowledge and power flowed from the gentle Lord of the forest into NelyaSetesh. Outside the Bard witnessed Nelya’s sacrifice. BlackThorn wept. When Nelya had entered the Sacred Circle, he had feared for her life, but the Bard was the voice of Root and so he had obeyed. Now he could hear the language of Root. All around the forest, things were changing; reawakening. She had succeeded. He was awake at last. The bard patiently waited for Nelya to return and many hours later the trees opened a way and she walked out to him. Exhausted she fell into his arms. He would be content to hold her forever there in his embrace. "The Root of Lore lies deep within," she accused him. "You knew. All this time you sang it in your songs, and you knew." He smiled that Take-life-as-it-comes smile of his and said, "Mitakuyé Oyasin." // .................................................................................................... From Calyx: (Mitakuyé Oyasin) From the Lakota language meaning all my relations. This thought concept is common to all aboriginal people of Turtle Island (North America). It acknowledges that everything Creator made, even that which (to modern eyes) appears dead or inanimate, is sentient, conscious, and capable of communicating with us. When we utter this phrase we are acknowledging our connection to the listener/reader and to all of creation. We are (stating and acknowledging that we) all related as family, as blood.
