calculating volition potential increase is of no use actually, i could have done that in the first place, but i need numbers that are accurate with the current activity in md, not theory. Chew i think your calculations are wrong ( it think). you get increased volition only if first time you lower a maxed visc location not each time. Of course with enough motivation to grind volition the numbers would be a lot higher and even exceed "theory".. but the base numbers to consider for a skill that is not yet motivating people anyhow are correct based on the received feedback. if you wonder why i insist so much that these numbers are so useful... it is because i want to make the requirements increase exponential not linear, that will make grinding volition give a smaller advantage than achieving it throught normal walking. It is experimental, i am just analyzing data, don't want to argue with anyone, not setting any values for anything yet, just getting a first impression of this new skill increase rate. Experiment step 2: First person to reach 1000 volition will get a Drach. First person to reach 500 volition will get 3 Gold. Once you get it make a screenshot and post HERE (mods please do not close the topic as i initial asked) If you go for the 500 points you can't participate in the 1000 points..so once you reach 500 you have to decide fast if you aim higher or stop at 500 and claim the lower prise. The winner is the one that posts first in this topic, i don't care if you reached it earlier but you posted later. Lets see how motivation influences volition grinding compared to normal gain. Good luck. ps. Once a winner is decided, those of you that aimed for the reward please post what numbers you achieved at the time someone else got the 500 or the 1000.

This information is very valuable..it helps me understand the rate that volition will be aquired and by that i can adjust the requirements for the things that will be using it. I could have checked these values in the db, but the point is that i need data from that sort of people that bother writing here, wish to give feedback, get involved..for those i aim to fine-tune things..the others will just have to deal with whatever will be. Based on the provided data i believe a volition of about 5 would be normal for someone not interested much in it, a value of 20 will be enough for those trying a bit to get it and a value of 40 will be reserved for those that really want that increase. Of course all these values will fluctuate a lot based on the future use and purpose of volition...anyhow, this was an initial test and data is still very very valuable. Please keep posting Mods please close this topic in a day or two. There will be an other one later with a slight change (volition use presented will influence will to aquire volition..thats second part of the test) Thank you

first of all there is nothing to define "a group" of this sort, so i can't apply any group based effects. pip are you saying you gain same volition regardless where you walk? i am more interested to hear how its currently working that to hear some fancy suggestions of how it should. i didn't managed to test it fully and my acc stata are messed anyway, so i would like to see how it is working for some of you with different situations. I understand currently people with land loyalty have a huge advantage over over people with no land loyalty? Or i understood that wrong? once i understand how it works i can either modify it or adapt the way it will be used. -

how many particiants so far? how about turning this into a perpetual quest afterwards,.. adjust it a bit (increase qualiry check/requirements), set a default rewards (colectible drach statue or usable item of sorts). It can rwally be a peretual quest/task to achieve certain things at any time without competiton (like my rain collector perpetual quest)...ofc all this AFTER this event ends, cintact me if it sounds interesting (delete this reply if its not, to avoid further discussions and confusion)

volition should be related to the lowered visc, not anytjing else like land loyalty, ap or whatever. someone please test and confirm if its working as i announced it should. thank you. use of volition will be special, it will be a skill that drops when used, like a resource so to say. chew i am not sure what question you are refering at. the purpose of this change woud be to better fit the concept, it is not to change anything about how viscosity affects anything. however ..i thought of something else that should be cinsidered. lowering viscosity does not mean you discover anything "new" to justify use of expl. xplring points are meant to be used for discovering new things. I think a better change would be to remove xpl points from regenerable and make thwm available in fixed amounts from rewards, items, and such, not regenerable because at some point really early in the game ..you no longer need them that much. having them limited makes more sense, and that won't fit with this ap vs xpl replacement...just a thought -

ok, i changed how it works, it will not increase volition if it doesn't consume ap..makes sense. Its based on ap cost not landloyalty or anything else, so if there are actions that require zero ap , it won't increase volition either, regardless of land. ( i will announce it now) Thanks for the suggestion! -

i'm against it also. If you want a suggestion in that direction..think of heat veins accumulated viscosity info, thats something interesting, and fits as concept too. Seeing viscosity density on the map does not keep the uniformity of how viscosity should be seen. If md is seen as a "fluid", viscosity values placed on the map will turn it into piles of more or less stones, not a fluid anymore. Heat veins, could be seen as rivers of this fluid, and then viscosity along a heat vein becomes relevant. Its not something used in any way right now but it could be. -

@no one: i find your answer arrogant as usual,i should ignore it, but a reply is needed for others that might think in the same displaced way you do. Viscosity is a CONCEPT. I know you don't really understand such things and all you would want is a command mode game "clean" of such flavors. In my view, the fact that it is hard to advance in a scene is a side effect of viscosity not a purpose of viscosity. See it as a memory of the land, a "collaboration" between the setup and the active factors (the players). The realm remains fluid just where it should, while forgotten parts of it become less accessible. If you keep in mind its a concept, you can consider all other things and code future features differently, better integrated, compared to thinking of it just like an other 'feature' The point of changing ap to expl is to better fit the concept..not to change any functionality right now. I can't say i am for or against this change. I am uncertain of it from a concept point of view, and i am a bit against it from a functional point of view, it will cause trouble till such a change would be integrated. I wish to hear peoples opinions however, from all points of view, to convince me of one or the other, pro/contra aspects of such a change. -

you should update main post with rewards, deadline, in bold to be clear. For people like me that have a problem readin lots of text take a very long time to spot such info. i looked several times at the post trying to find such info and in the end i gave up and sponsored my own :)) can i participate too? :D:D still why not post ALL submissions on a nice gallery? i am dieing to see all of them :D

(suggestion that might work and fits with the features i was working on for autumn2050, heads could be collected from scenes, instead of automatically distributed. Piles of heads randomly placed as pickable items allover the realm, that when picked increase heads count. Add minimum limit to the amount of heads needed to be listed in the contest. The rest of how heads contest work remains unchanged, this would eliminate issues with people receiving heads if they are not actually participating) This is just a note, i will not be actively involved in this topic, chew feel free to delete it if its not related to what sort of help you had in mind. -
i am sposnsoring this with 5wp codes, one drach, and one raindrach if at least 5 people participate note..i am usualy too lazy to spawn a fresh drach so they will probably by from ancient stoc ps about the apple drach, i think its good we have at least one sample pic of what to do :D

Very nice ideas i see here. Some of you saw this from the perspective of the effect itself, some from the perspective of what is changed, some from the perspective of how the player changes.. The most from all i like VOLITION (suggested by mralyon), it means basically willpower and i think it fits best and has the widest possibility of using it in various other places also. Perseverence fits too but wouldn't fit that good with item creation, at least not in my mind. Tom pouce suggested here last that this could be named exploring and that would make sense with the use of exploring points in place of ap when it comes to viscosity. This might make sense, but so far nothing has been decided on that topic yet...plus exploring means discovering also and lowering viscosity is not about discovering is about maintaining. congrats MRALYON, this will be announced when implemented. You can claim your gold from me when you see me in-game. Apparently this was a success, i will do this more often (consult you for such concept additions). :) -

please read the full log for exact concept. When moving through a high visc area you interact with that palce absorbing viscosity, or scaring it away so to say. I imagine it as if you would be an enery/heat generator that has gears that get put in motion when you advance through viscosity. Fighting against viscosity changes something inside you, it sort of trains your will. Viscosity is separating reality from things forgotten, canceling it should balance somwhere..like when you lift weights and you get tired, but get stronger. This "thing" that changes in you when going against viscosity should be counted, gathered, and later on it will be used in combination with wispoints and heat to turn ideas into matter, creating items. -
I am putting a bounty on Vilinec ..whoever makes him to come forth in a relevant way, gets 1wp for himself, a very low id crit (for id collectors, no rare species), 30credits (6x5codes), and 5 wp codes He is the second oldest character in md and i never ever saw or talked to him..or heard of him in the realm..my curiosity is at maximum and i admit it :)) just making him speak or contact me is NOT enough, the bounty is for whoever manages to make _him_ do something popular or of public impact in some way. He will be the one naming the person that did it. here, publicly in this topic. These are the rules, idk if it will happen or not, but the challenge remains open indefinitely.
