Muratus del Mur

Hey guys! 
I'm looking to offer my 3d printing skills, with Mur's blessing, to the rest of MD. 
Using a combination of skills, I have managed to bring one of the most popular critters to the third dimension; the Drachorn.

I will be offering larger models in the coming days with a detailed base. On the base will be MagicDuel's dragon logo / and your player name and ID.  

 
 

I must say the print in this picture is nothing compared to the details on the 3d model, really really well done. 
We made a deal me and Seigheart, he gets to print and sell the models of the md world he creates (i understand there are more to come), and MD gets to use these models in any way we need. I am thinking how many people in this community have access to a 3d printer, or at least how many would be motivated by a quest that involves learning 3d editing and/or printing.
Over the years many people learned stuff due to MD that helped them later in life, why not 3d skills. ..I have to think about this well, my response will be proportional to Seigh's involvement, its up to him if this remains just with this awesome drach model, or expands into something else. I will be open to future collaboration. 
If someone can bring a skill he has in RL and use it in MD, i will always support it. This quest was about getting you to DO something, and make you understand that this rare creature can be obtained if YOU create it, with your own efforts, and in your own way, because in life, only your own way is important and you must learn that the things you do and put passion into, have power and create your reality. I am seriously thinking of extending this "build yourself" quest to a majority of things in md, but i will think about it some more. Opinions about this from all of you are welcome, send me PM, lets not flood this topic.

Wasn't really much learning, just a matter of finding the time! Will probably end up doing all the critters at some point.

Fair enough. I figured it was a medium that wasn't done before. Will submit another in a few days then.

While i appreciate anyone doing this quest, and i also know its not an easy task to make a 3d printer work (took me a while first time), i don't think that just printing a dragon you found somewhere, means that you built it. 
 
If you come up with your own design, regardless how horrible it comes out, and you print that, or at least considerably modify an existing model and personalize it, then print it properly, then i can consider this a valid entry, otherwise, not.
 

life hurts your feelings all the time, I know its "better" just to give everyone the impression it all evolves around positive feelings and such, but i'm not like that, so md is not like that.

fyrd+ valoryn- Fyrd has been active and good with a25 lately, I had much like for his old clicky questline in the past. Valoryn inactive as can be
chewett+ antyvas- Chewett has been doing good coding and other activity lately. Antyvas inactive if not for gathering, but I have never heard from this player personally, almost put nad here but I can't put nadrolski in a bad light even if hes the same as Antyvas lately
aia+ chriselnenepr- Aia has been valuable to md in recent years even if less active currently. Chrisel manages to sneak his way into my alliance without talking to me first and seems to have an idea about the game that is outdated
fang+ ledah- Fang is basically my best friend online and he has more care for things than people will realize. Ledah has been sullying the name of the caretakers with death instead of life

One method to weight votes which would avoid of this (amusing) anomaly would be to make those with a negative score have voting value proportional to their ratio.
That is, if a player's votes are 100% negative, their votes shall be worth zero; if the player has 1 positive and 5 negative votes, then the ratio is 1:5, or 20%, so their vote would be worth 20% of the value of a "standard" vote.

Players with a "perfect balance" of equal positive and negative votes would have a vote value of 1 (as the ratio is 1:1).

Finally, players with a positive net balance would have their voting value increased by the ratio of their score also. A suggested formula for this would be as follows:
Voting weight = 1 + (positive votes - negative votes)/(negative votes +1).

That would make sense to me so its more "this has been the trend" rather than "WHO VOTED FOR ME YESTERDAY????"
I think its quite likely after seeing the first set of votes, other people "gathered" to vote for people they feel should/shouldn't have been voted for.

Would be interesting to see the stats monthly, although maybe more interesting if it was also delayed by a few months... say you can't see January results until April, just to let the scores settle in and try to mitigate any mob mentality.
Could also be interesting to see how the next set of votes change following the publishing of old results...

Actually what i get by this method is to increase the sensitivity of the extremes. I lose the entire middle range votes, indeed, but the ends of the spectrum become more highlighted. In a version where everyone could sort everyone by numbers, all wpuld get some sort of vote/rating. In this version, only the people that made someone vote them in place of everyone else will show up on the list, completely eliminating the middle range.
Obviously its not the only wau to achieve the desired result, but right now i think that voting too much too often is not a good thing. Having to vote two people only (up and down) keeps things simple and less annoying.

voting repeatedly for same person is not a problem. On each round others vote too, and getting constant negative votes, or positive votes, its a sign you still have that sort of influence on those people. Imagine, if your haters get bored hating you and find better people to hate, they move on, but if they don't, then you are someones obsession..and that needs to reflect in your score somehow.
 
Just some people are "haters" by nature, not so many. Sad thing is that with just a few people, the power of the crowd will be less obvious.. but with a fair amount, having someone obsessed downvoting you will not be noticeable.
If you have several people downvoting you constantly, then its you having a problem, not them.
 
Voting yourself negatively is not an option and never will be. The ideea of this mechanism is to force all to decide in terms of good and bad. You can only vote two people, so your area of influence is limited to your own good&bad. 
I will be careful not to consider the negative votes as a sign of "really bad" because they are often just a sign of "really don't know much about that guy" (that actually means just 'unpopular', not 'bad')
Of course someone could risk creating an alt just for dumping bad votes of others (don't), but then, the good votes will still mean what they mean, and thats what i am after actually.
After eliminating alts, several possible problems got solved, but there is still a problem of "too popular" , i have a plan for that too, when the situation demands it. There are many things still experimental with this feature, but i will see over time if it makes sense using it for what i had in mind or not. 
 
The more votes it has, the more accurate this will become... but i will still give it room for absolute error. So far it looks good.

Here are the voting results of the first "popularity" voting. Only those with minimum 3 consecutive days got to vote or to be voted. Please don't ask who voted who because those details will not become public.
I am thinking to create a page, maybe in log room, where you will be able to see such stats monthly, or realtime.

Kingdoms page - currently in work
It will be a map with settlements and fortifications that can be conquered by players in pvp or vs AI fights.
I still need to decide the final visual style and other concepts. 
I will update here when i will have first art ready.
 
Current progress: preselecting artists for the map
Dev speed: super slow, expect weeks or months till completion, unless i expand the team with a new coder.
