I get you Juba, but what's the point ? Isn't the trend to limit one-sided activity ?
I used to play MD just by gathering resources and trading and that is messed up now. The independent items are now considered as normal (Ann 5168)
Also, growing creatures is being penalized, big time: Change regarding the creature recruiting cost.
Why would fighting be allowed instead of limited ?

True, instead of a rule I believe anyone who attacks their own ally member should be summarily executed and have their account reset... as a consequence.

I think it was introduced originally to avoid abuses such as ally members using 'jump to leader' to a remote location and then they get to train for stats which would threaten the balance of power in the world as we knew it  But people could drop the badge and then train, it was just abuse with extra steps.
Since MD is in a period where everything is changing and reconsidered in a more practicle way, perhaps this issue could be revisited... For me personally, it would be okay for ally members to be able to attack each other.

Well, the first 3 clickies work (I just checked), and there is good info there.  Even if you only get part way through, it is a nice intro to things for a brand new player.  I just suggest you don't do it for a reward if you're worried it might not "finish" properly.

    'Evening!
I hear there's a scholarly interest in the lands of Marind Bell, pertaining to mandalas - some SoE members are quite interested in that imagery with 'cosmic'  or 'absolute' meanings. What that means is, there's ways to make money! Or get some anniversary creatures and bonuses.
SoE will pay a hefty sum for a mandala with MD symbolism, but it must be within standards (hence they will judge the submissions) AND all rights to that imagery will transfer to said alliance. As for the manner of presentation, it can be drawn on paper, digitally created, or even crafted. Feel free to submit it to me (Ungod) or post it in this thread - winning submissions have the chance of remaining anonymous. Ah, the deadline? Until the end of this month.
So let's get down to business - what hefty price are we talking about? 1st place gets an anniv crit and 1 goldenavitoken, 2nd 1 anniv crit (and 1 gold if SoE wants to acquire the rights*), 3rd 1 anniv crit (and 1 gold if SoE wants to acquire the rights).
*Disclaimer: if SoE decides to acquire the rights for that mandala, you can't refuse
What? That's not enough? That's the offer, take it or leave it. This scholarly interest is only in bud; who knows, it might be more profitable in the future...

    Hello, everyone,
16 years, wow! That's a lot! Throughout these years, we've seen a lot: the rise and fall of many alliances, RPCs, Queens and Kings, not to mention countless events and quests. We have also witnessed the appearance of new lands, creatures and even concepts (Wiiya and Fenths come to mind, for example). I could go on and on, but I'll try to keep this short (and ultimately fail), so bear with me!
    Mur once said:
I, for one, find this quote fascinating, especially when we acknowledge the many "coincidences" that take place in our beloved realm. As a (tentative) researcher, I often have to dig through old records to look for said events when trying to identify and/or predict their associated collisions. When doing so, I frequently find myself picturing an ideal world where a certain concept or topic would be well-documented and whichever public information regarding it could be easily retrieved by any interested party. While at first this is a rather selfish thought, I really think such scenario would greatly benefit our community and, as such, I'd like to propose this quest to thee:

    TLDR: QUEST DESCRIPTION HERE!
Pick a topic of your choice (anything, really: a particular event, a principle, a resource, an alliance, a faction, a land... hell, even the history behind a certain medal, why not? :P) and document everything you can about it as if you were an Archivist writing a book on that subject for current and future generations. References to relevant announcements, adventure log entries and forum posts are encouraged, as are screenshots, artworks and chat logs — feel free to add anything you'd find appropriate. Bear in mind, though, that we're interested in PUBLIC information here. For the love of our Demon, keep it spoiler-free! Oh, one last thing: due to the nature of our goal, multiple submissions per player are more than welcome, so, the more the merrier — only one pack of rewards per player, though!

With your entries, I plan to start organizing (and contributing to) a "new generation" of documents for the MD Archives. I hope that in the future everyone will enjoy heading to the Archives to browse the bookshelves for clues!

Oh, and since there isn't a predefined "editorial style" for these, I'll draw inspiration from our submissions in order to determine that as well.

Finally, I invite anyone inspired by this quest (even if you don't submit an entry) to join me in this endeavor! If you're interested/curious, feel free to send me a PM (forum or in-game would be better... though I might also be available on Discord during the birthday) so we can discuss stuff.

Enough with the wordy bit! Here comes some important info:
Submissions Entries are to be sent via FORUM PM. Please don’t make them public before the quest ends as I’d like to see a lot of variety in your entries. After that period, I’ll contact you to find a way to make all of them available (we’ll see how that goes, depending on the formats and whatnot).
Judging We have managed to get a very special Archivist to judge your entries: Kyphis the Bard! Hooray! Oh, also some random guy that goes by the name of Aelis will be acting as judge (don’t trust that one).

Entries will then be judged on:
Presentation (10 points) As I said, there’s no predefined editorial style, so feel free to innovate. Make it interactive, draw stuff, use pictures where one would expect text and vice versa, etc. Go wild on the format and surprise us! Historical accuracy (10 points) We expect you to present good references for the stuff that you write. Try your best to provide “proof” for your sources. Writing (5 points) We won’t look at your grammar or vocabulary here. Just aim for some degree of cogency in your texts, that’s all!
Rewards (the good part, finally) 1st place: Anniversary creature + Wishpoint (if we have at least 3 entries, if not we’ll see) 2nd place: Anniversary creature + 1 gold 3rd place: Anniversary creature + 5 silver
Additionally, all entries, regardless of score, will receive some amount of silver or spellstones (the exact quantity will be defined Soon™).

PS: I have been given the power to award Anniversary creatures to good quality/score entries that don’t make it to the Top 3, so try your best! And now the coolest part: if your entry doesn't make the cut, you’ll have some time to improve it and try again if you’d like.
Deadline April 29th (end of birthday). After we post the results, you get an additional week if you want to improve your entry to go for an Anniversary creature.

Okay, that was a bit lengthy... thank you for your patience thus far!

First post was a Oct/2009 quest submission where I dressed as a Dark Archer (I'm glad the picture isn't there anymore haha). Been questing like crazy ever since.

First PM was a Nov/2009 conversation with Pamplemousse regarding another forum post. That was shortly after (a month or two) she had left the Archivists to join the Sentinels and fight in the war that culminated in the burning of Khalazdad's cube. Young Aelis felt he was exchanging messages with a celebrity back then.

--- Mur:  this was implemented, slightly modified ----
    Massive Mental Fatigue
      massivementalfatigue|target_player=a,e;target_abilities=aimedhit,haoticdamage;deadoralive=onlydead;mark=fatigue;val=70%;duration=5
All creatures doing Aimed Hit and Haotic Damage and dying during the combat, will be 70% mentally tired for the next 5 battles.

    Template: markforcritabilities

      Dependencies:
Fatigue mark (added and available for other actions too) ----till here---
Also added an other one "Mental Fatigue" , that does this just to aimed hit and to enemy crits.
"Enemy  creatures doing Aimed Hit and dying during the combat, will be 30% mentally tired for the next 5 battles."

    "Mental Fatigue"
Description: Gives the mental Fatigue mark to creatures attacking with aimed hit
    markforcritabilities|mark=mentalfatigue;power=20%;duration=1;mustdie=no;targets=a;target_abilities=aimedhit

After a creature has used aimed hit they are mentally strained from the focus needed and will need some time to recover. During this time they will be slightly weaker and unable to focus as well.

Description: Gives Energetic Burn mark to those hit by energy burn
    markforcritabilities|mark=energyburnt;power=20%;duration=5;mustdie=onlydead;targets=e;target_abilities=energyburn

I think it would be interesting to mark creatures who have been hit by energy burn "strongly" and make them weaker over the next few fights. Similar to how a burn continues to hurt over time.

    You're right, there's a big difference.
Though I'm not convinced the blatant copying you mention is that all-encompassing and mainstream, some of the specific pieces you mentioned seemed more inspired by rather than copied (samurai jack for instance), but maybe I'm wrong.

Just to clarify, I'm not defending Hollywood, I just like try to add more perspectives to the table: so what if we have copied movies? If we are not aware of the original, in our perspective we are seeing something new?
If people weren't seeing them as new they wouldn't watch and such movies wouldn't bring money and Hollywood wouldn't shoot them. So it's not a waste, as long as it's a copy of a good movie
The important thing at the end of the day, if you enjoyed a copy-movie, is not to idealize people behind it, but that should be the case with anything, people are never perfect, geniuses that are wonderful human beings etc, there's always some uncanny detail lying somewhere.
I liked Samurai Jack, I don't necessarily think it's the most brillitant piece made by unbelievably creative and original people

Even when you look at 'the original', there's a good chance it's a retelling as well.
I mean look at The Bible/Christianity. Revolutionary religion that swallowed a big chunk of the known world, but its concepts were all already present in other religions.
It's how stuff always worked, as Newton said we are dwarves standing on the shoulders of giants, or standing on the shoulders of dwarves which are standing on the shoulders of other dwarves... (pardon my poor rephrasing, maybe Newton said it somehow differently)

      Hi Miq,

I have hidden your topic until we figure out if it's a bug or feature. I personally suspect an exploit. And since it's quite nasty I decided to make it visible only to mods and admins so others will not get "bright ideas".
