  1. I might just say that those steps 1-3 are pretty old, and perhaps should be looked over again. For example, the game does not look for any ritual that has over 301 Ve before going random, it is were that the case it would actually be impossible for me to go random, but I do. I'm not even sure it looks for the next to last ritual, I'm not positive on that one though.
  2. I was more talking about entropy and syntropy, but all of this is good too. Assuming that "in the beggining" (Ok, already people have problems with beginning there was order, then entropy is degrading all of that order. Second law of thermodynamics states that entropy will increase for all reactions, over all order is ALWAYS decreasing, though in theory it could stay the same. Now if that's the case, entropy and syntropy are NOT balanced, and any system not balanced can not exist outside an extreme after an infinite period of time, unless the system is oscillating (arguably a sort of balance.) So, initial state of order goes toward a poor understanding of our current universe (entirely possible) or that the universe has not been around forever. The second law of thermodynamics demands a beginning and a finite universe it would seem. I'll leave the natural state of chaos for later.
  3. RPCs have a lot of power over people, and as such could cause issues involving corruption in heads contests. However, most RPCs that I know that care about such things don't need to offer people WPs for heads, and I think they would be responsible enough to not abuse their power. Oh, I should mention that I think it's ok for them to compete, if they are not allowed to win, then they should not be able to collect heads over and over again, after all, I can't.
  4. Well, it's really an issue of supply and demand. Most people who buy them are probably collectors, or people trying to sell them, but for the most part the supply should be low. I don't know how many people want dream mutations, collectors who don't have plenty of WPs I suppose. Not sure how many of those there are, but also not a lot. Now Rusties, EVERYONE wants one, in fact, everyone wants at least 5. Sure, there are a lot more out there, but there is a LOT more demand. That having been said, I will sell a dream mutation for two rusties, or a drachorn.
  5. I hear things like people don't eat or bleed a fair amount, but there is a lot of blood in this game, in the AL, and food is occasionally mentioned. The AL seems to treat people as physical beings, not some floaty spiritual beings. It'd be awful boring if we all were. As for fighting, it doesn't really work out too well unless it's based off of the built in system, or if everyone involved is willing to cooperate. Of course a person has to realize that numbers are HUGELY important. Sure, Sparrhawk could beat well over half the people in the game, but were it possible for four people to attack him at once, (in game mechanics) most any four who know anything about the battle system could beat him. (Think about fighting a ritual with 20 birds in it.) One thing I like, is creativity. If a person can explain HOW he does what he does, it lends a great deal more credence in my eyes, though having an in game spell lends a great deal more credence. I would like it if more those who have in game spells tried to explain them a bit too. Also, age and reputation is a big deal. Guybrush is a doctor, he fights, but as far as role goes, I'm ok with a great many people in the realm being able to beat him. He's a doctor for goodness sake, but he is dabbling in magic. Slowly he is developing himself in the principals, and talking to those respected in the areas before continuing. When I actually get a heal spell (or if), I'll have had months of back story on how he developed the ability. As for a complex plot, both sides need to be in OOC communication. I am a doctor, if someone inflicts someone with a disease of some sort, I need to know what I'll find. If I say minituarized drachorns are swimming around inside of him cooking his internal organs when the person actually just gave him the flu, things start losing coherence. For good RP, you need to be in communication with your characters enemy, out of character.
  6. Or Mur has a cruel and evily twisted plan to get more avatars by not announcing the winner, even though there already is one, thus having more people send in drawings when the contest is actually already over. Buahahahaha. I doubt it, but I gotta say I'd have to respect the evil geniousness of the plan were that the case.
  7. I'm confused, are you upset your random ritual is getting blown away without any effort from the attacker? Or that it's going random? Also, if your next ritual in line doesn't have the required Ve, it goes random. Random means the last ritual. In most cases this is likely your defense ritual which caused it to go random. Having "randomly" selected the ritual and finding that it "too" doesn't have the required Ve, it just creates a random ritual.
  8. Maybe I should have been more clear on what I meant, but the claw II is deffinately not giving me attack bonus when I use 100% (Like it's meant to). It still says the bonus is whatever, but it says 0% effective and is in fact 0% effective.
  9. So, is the natural state of things ordered or disordered? In the beginning was there chaos or order? And to add, what are the ramifications of either? It is not really adding so much as a way to search for an answer. I suppose a public debate could be held, but frankly a public debate isn't really any different than the forums. So for now, I see no reason to have this anywhere but here.
  10. Don't know what break freeze does, but the claws are definitely not giving attack bonuses anymore. Only issues I see here is that it makes claw IIIs all the more powerful. As Awiiya said, with 3000 initiative and tens of thousands of attack you don't need personal influence.
  11. The natural log is just an example, and yeah it cuts off pretty fast. You could use a log base 2 instead, or a log base 1.3 or whatever. Closer you get to 1 the more slowly it cuts off. Or you could use x^.9 or any other value less than one (obviousley above 0). There are lots of formulas you can use for diminishing returns, so you can find one that you feel more appropriate. And Fenrir, you used to use Lorerootian archers before tokens? As for the freeze, freeze counters low critter rits well, but it doesn't work well against rusties or drachs. I like the birds freeze, but a critter with great stat boost, good targets and abilities with freeze on top? The issue is that with good enough critters it doesn't make sense to use less critters since your getting crazy stat boosts anyway, you have more stats on each critter with 6 then you would with one.
  12. Yay, logarithmic functions for determination of principal bonuses has been suggested! Anywho, I think a few tokens have been completely overlooked on this. Yes, the tokens previously mentioned need to be scaled way the heck down, but the ones burns mentioned, the bloods that give %bonuses need to be fixed as well. Having a blood drop that gives a 20% bonus to attack, but only based on the critters attack and doesn't include my influence is pretty darn useless. Really, almost no point at all in having it. As far as Blood IIs, yeah, they seem a little overpowered if you have those principals, and few do. I'm one of them though, so I'm gonna go ahead and say I'm ok with that >.> (though I have yet to get one.) One possibility, and I mentioned it in the other thread, is to spread principals out per critter like stats do. Sure, 5k attack on one critter is more than a person can normally do in a 6 critter ritual, but it's not THAT high if it's only adding 5/6ths of that. (OK, most people still don't have 5k attack stat, but some do.) So, for example, a person with 6000 in time, would then have 1000 in time counted toward each critter in a six critter ritual. In other words the token doesn't base it off your principals, but your individual critters principals. From there there just needs to be a way to make the principal gain--->stat for tokens to stat gain relatively equal, so that training principals isn't so great. About the initiative bonus for a claw III. 5000 personal attack is very high, 5000 personal initiative is absolutely ludicrous. I think tokens ought not be completely mitigating personal stats. (Though it kinda works for me as my stats are much lower...)
  13. Not every critter needs to boost similar critters. Sure, I'd love it if my Pimped were worth more, but like everyone else has said, that's not what they were meant for. Though a pimped would be nicer then the critter Shadowseeker was talking about if it did similar boosts.
  14. I do agree that it's increadibly annoying to see everyone's Ve going through the roof like that. I've worked relatively hard without aging critters on alts to get my Ve to the point it's at. And it is also annoying that tokens are best bought on alts, something awful tempting to do, but I have not done. Yeah, alts are abused a lot, and I do wonder how some people get the critters they do. There are a few things that could be done. For example, require a certain amount of vitories/wins or something before a person can trade. Problem being that it would have to be a ludicrous number before it would really affect people. Another is have all trades monitored to make sure that they aren't one way deals, like imperial for diddly squat between an older person and a random MP3 no one has ever heard of. Like DST said, there are ways around all that though, and it's a pain in the butt to try and monitor every single trade.
  15. If you're going to have a couple RPCs review the quest anyway, how is that much different than just getting an RPC or RPCs to sponsor your quest? But yeah, having the entire public vote on a quest seems like a bad idea considering that alts are abusable as it is. Too much RPC involvement will defeat the purpose. On the other hand, being as potentially abusable as it is it does seem like it would have to be monitored somehow. One possibility would be to have RPCs watch over a quest and then allow that person an amount of autonomy if it goes well.
  16. The new combat system/whatever that was you mentioned elsewhere.
  17. There are a LOT of alcoholics in the realm, so I suppose there ought be a fair number of bars.
  18. I agree, if you're looking to not get pounded, move the RPers to the sanctuary, or everywhere. The thing about the dojo is that it wasn't about fighting anymore. As Gargant said the grinders/fighters hang at the GoE, Rpers at MDP. Well, the dojo is for learning the combat system and sparring, shouldn't the dojo be with the grinders? Why not move the dojo to the GoE, a place just about everyone goes through, and everyone can be according to their role. Best part, vets are almost always around to answer questions.
  19. Eh, as long as the name of the item you ask for is right, and the first few words don't contain anything too terrible, just keep the item forever and lie to everyone about what the description says.
  20. I'm more curious as to how you plan on giving me negative Vp... Now, I understand that if you want to try to lose all your health and hit me with the rit at 100% it might take me half a round to kill your ritual. Ok, honestly I have no idea what your stats, maybe you can go one round, but unless you have some SERIOUSLY hopped up trees you're going to have to hit me about 50 times to accomplish anything, and if I set the right defense, all you'll be doing is stealing my precious personal exp. Unless you're a MEGA UBER stat grinder, or a crazy person with defense tokens on all your trees, all you'll accomplish is giving me exp. Yes, you're right, it's the social network that is the scariest. My point was that a single champion isn't going to be able to punish me without spells, and the entire game can't stop a player who ONLY wants to piss people off without spells.
  21. Oh no, I quite get that spells can be useful MB, I thought you were attempting to say that people should just RP and not bother with spells. That they shouldn't be doing anything that a normal person can't. (The regular attack-lock of the WS doesn't really last long enough). Also, I am incredibly confused about how you would go about giving me negative Vp and exp. Certainly the way I'm used to would do no good. But yes, with spells it could be manageable in it's current location.
  22. And yes, we went over the RP portion of the Dojo, however, the issues involved lean heavily toward the fact that the offenders are not RPing. You mentioned that MRD would maul me if I was offending at the GGG. Ok... And then? I could go on destroying all the rits to my hearts content, healing all my critters by fighting while I was at it. So one: there is no way to actually harm players who offend, and 2: They will not stop if thrashed as would be appropriate of RP. IaB had a very good example of this during the discussion. Now on to the other sorts of offenders. New players who have no idea what they're doing and don't know it's a dojo. Throw people into the game after teaching them the VERY basics of fighting in a heavily populated area and you don't expect them to try fighting before clicking EVERY click able in the area? MP3s sitting there to learn and heal get destroyed, which is incredibly frustrating. It takes a long time to heal your critters every time they die. Why put a learning area in a place you KNOW they are going to be constantly frustrated...
  23. What on earth? A rusty is already supremely powerful, whether you have another drac or not. You want to make it stronger? More versatile? Like a monster with great stats and freeze ability and the ability to boost ANY stats of ANY critter isn't already enough, you want it to boost ALL critters?
  24. I think the Chewies slipper option might be a bad idea, as I want common items, but was tempted to vote for that one out of sheer awesomeness. As for common items like glasses, I don't think we need them. I have glasses, I don't feel I need them as an inventory item before I can RP them though. Common materials to make unique items? Yeah, those'd be nice.
