This is the official thread for the co-operation and deception anniversary game. Pre-registration was here, and is now closed.

To summarize:
Each player is given a character/role card Each player goal is to deduct/guess other's role via any mean necessary Communication, alliance, betrayal, lies, etc. are encouraged Straight-up role sharing is not encouraged, each player is expected to try their hardest to win the game. I will not enforce this, but please keep it interesting and don't ruin the game for others Please keep the game self-contained (e.g no MD item/etc trading for info). Trading the final rewards you may obtain is encouraged however. But so does betraying that promise Each player, at the start of the game, is required to make three statements relevant to the game, rules detailed below Rule for statements:
All statements must be relevant to the game One statement must be true, one statement must be false, and the final, can be either Each player statement must reflect their character knowledge at the start of the game. Any information you may have gained from others cannot be used Statements cannot be obviously true or false. Saying "I'm one of the characters listed" is illegal You must be able to identify the true and false statements that you gave, precisely. Stating a contradiction is fine, but you must be able to tell which is true or false (so no making statements which one must be true and one must be false, but you don't know which is which). The "either" statement does not have to follow this rule, so you can make one that you don't know if it's true or false. General role-related statements are allowed and encouraged (e.g My role commands great power). But they must be made in good faith, and cannot be contestable Making your statement cryptic is encouraged, but again, must be in good faith, and cannot be contestable Statements should be given ASAP. The roles were subjective, but the assignment was not. This is to avoid any possibility that you may try to reverse engineer my mind
Reward: Due to the high probability of ties, the game shall operate on a "point" system. These points can be used to purchase your rewards at the end of the game. Points can be traded to other players freely, as part of agreements during games . Point trading also work on an honor system, and must be acknowledged by both parties at the end.
Points:
All participants will receive 3 points regardless of their placement All participants who deducted more than half will be rewarded an extra 2 points The rewards for the top players shall be as follow: 18 / 15 / 12 / 4 If multiple people draw for the top spot, the points that those positions gave out will be summed up and divided equally (e.g if 3-6th draw (12 + 4) / 4 = 4 each) Reward shop:
Anni creature: 15 points - Traded points cannot be used (must won at least 15 points via the game). Special exceptions may be given in case of draws. Today Marind Bell and the East, along with notable VIP's of MagicDuel were present at a ceremony where the citizens have voiced their support for a King for Marind Bell, and a Grand Duke for the East. In addition various dignitaries of the lands have voiced their support for this appointment.

I am able to announce, on behalf of both citizens of the lands that I, Chewett, am the new ruler of both.
The East and Marind Bell shall form a new group, headed by three figures. One Marind Bell Citizen shall be chosen, along with one East citizen, and Chewett the Governor of both. This group, run with the support of the citizens shall guide both lands. Regular meetings will be held with citizens to address issues with both lands, and the combined issues. The first of these meetings including an appointment of these two land dukes will occur some time after the Anniversary. In the meantime all citizens are welcome to come talk to myself.
Thank you to all those who supported me in this endeavour as it has taken much effort.

Summary of the Meeting
Chewett spoke to the massed assembly about the diverse citizens of both the East and Marind Bell and their individuality. That he will rule alongside his two Dukes to guide the lands together with the citizens.
Sunfire spoke as a representative of the citizens of the east after which Chewett called for those who would support this venture. No players called out against this and the following players from the East supported it: Sunfire, Ledah, Mallos, Eara Meraia, Aelis, Ailith
Jubaris spoke as a representative of the citizens of Marind Bell and gifted Chewett the rare "Bell of Marind", a long kept relic of Marind. Chewett called out for those who would support this venture. No players called out against this and the following players of Marind Bell supported it: Jubaris, Ungod, Clock master, Steno
Queen Lintara was asked then to speak as a representative of her land Loreroot. She gifted Chewett a Crown of Ivy, wishing that the empire will last as long as ivy,  and an Acorn stating that Oaks are trees of strength and Sacred to Loreroot, giving her blessing of the Root towards the endeavour.
King Miq was asked to speak as a representative of his land, Golemus. He gifted a Porcelain Chessmen and wished that he were to rule in interesting times nodding in agreement.
MaGoHi was invited to speak as a representative of the GWI and while warning this power shift was concerning stated that since Chewett is to be the ruler he can agree to it. He gifted a Sleeping Gnome since, according to himself, that is all he does on the island.
Eara, Manager of the Treasure Keepers was asked if she supports the effort. She feels that the East joining together with Marind Bell, keeping the treasury of the TK's, is a move that makes much sense and supports the effort. She gifted Chewett Muratus's engraved ring for his work.
Dark Demon was asked to speak as a representative of the Labyrinth  stating that out of respect for all that Chewett has done with the realm he undoubtedly supports the move. He gifted Chewett a stone holding Bringfromlabyrinth so that he may be summoned when needed.
Blackshade Rider was asked to speak as a representative of the Dead, someone Chewett stated he hoped to work more closely with and with the Caretakers. Blackshade Rider gifted a Coffin to fit any enemy he wishes. In addition, two gold coins were gifted as a payment to the ferry man. He in the dead pledged his support.
Sunfire then took final charge of the meeting to thank Chewett and bestow upon him the title of honorary citizen of the East.
Ledah came forward and stated that the Caretakers wish success in Chewett's goals, that they support him, and stated that the first step to success is not being late, and therefore presented a Bone clock.
Ailith, representative of the Soldiers of the Inner Sun then presented a Commemorative Pocket Watch to mark the event, pledging their support for Chewett.
Sunfire, representative of the Seals of the Six, presented a Thorny crown to Chewett, stating that rulership is a burden and not a powermove.
Chewett then ended the meeting stating that there will be a public celebration later during the Anniversary.

Below are the logs for the 1st annual April Fools Joke contest!
The rules were simple, tell 5 dad-jokes (as you can see in the logs... we just kind of moved into any kind of joke). Most jokes that I saw are underlined (before it was too much for PC to handle)
Ways to win: every person should vote for their top two jokes by responding below. (This means even participants can vote, though I encourage you not just to vote for your own.)
It should look like this (example post)

2. Mur: Have you heard the joke about silence? --->Neither have I.
 
This way I know who said what joke and which was first and second.
For each time the same joke (possibly change to person, depending on entries) gets picked, they get points. 1st place is worth 2 points, 2nd place 1 point.
The winner will get a random reward, the 2nd place will also get a reward. All participants shall receive something (may take me awhile)
Voting will close on April 13th, 2020.

This is an incredible feature worthy of being placed in the wish shop, but it has its own issues, in particular, the crowded places problem. I've observed this during Chewett's cake party and Steno's April Fool's event.
If there are few people in one spot (1-3 players) it looks fine, but more than that, they just cover each other. Mur's solution to this was to increase the intervals between the colored dots that represents the players, but it creates another problem where one can't actually point out where that player is.
I may have a solution for this, it follows the same mechanics, only this time, if there are two (or three) or more players in a location, say the GoE, it will become a shaded place on a map (I used orange because, well, Mur) the more people there are, the bigger this shade will become.

GoE at this point will have several players on it, hence the size, while MDP will have fewer than four or so. 
Now, when you hover the cursor over the shaded section, it will display the coordinates along with the playernames who are presently in that location. See below:

 
This is just a mockup, the shade color can be changed, the colored dots can even be beside the playernames in the box to distinguish what Mindpower they belong to.
This will be easier for those who purchased this feature and can be very useful for a plethora of different things, or if you exhaust your locate spell, too.

I am so incredibly excited to be considered part of Marind Bell! It is the land I by far spent the most time in before my slumber. Before land loyalty was a thing. I have always felt more at home at MBthan elsewhere. I love that MB is such an open land yet shows just the surface of all of its many secrets to any who enter. I believe that membership in MB means an obligation to seek knowledge and provide assistance to new players, after all, that is why our threshold has visible gates.
I am truly excited to continue my story in MB, to continue my research and to learn more of this realm.

Ahh... V for Vendetta and Interstellar were on my top list too ???? 
But that's okay... other favorites of mine are Shawshank Redemption,  Inception, The Prestige,  and The Martian.
At first I didn't know why I loved them so much. I am a Nolan fan, sure, but then I realized there's more to it. All these movies have beautiful self narrations. And I'm a sucker for those ????

my fav food would be something called he ye fan, which is lotus leaf wrapped glutinous rice. 
Marinated meats such as pork or chicken, together with mushrooms, and some chinese sausages, or liver sausages are encased in glutinous rice which is then wrapped in lotus leaf and steamed. When done well, the rice comes out nice and sticky, though not mushy, and is filled with the fragrance of the lotus leaf and the savoriness of the meat juices it has soaked up while cooking. The fragrance of the lotus leaf is what makes it for me. It adds a whole new dimension of experience when eating it that i rarely find in other dishes. It is foremost savory and slightly sweet from the marinate, but all amidst the backdrop of a very gentle fragrance that is somewhat like tea due to the it coming from a leaf too, yet is oddly paired really well with savory meats. And I get to enjoy both the amazing joy of eating something savory and the nice elegance of a wonderful fragrance in every bite.  i love it.

I often replace the word 'space' with 'life' and it helps me a lot. You never know how much is 'enough' until you actually put in the effort. You must begin without any certainty that everything will work according to plan, and if you manage to do so then you will be rewarded for it I guarantee you. You don't have to solve every problem; you can't solve every problem. But making the effort on what you CAN solve.... that's the difference between those who succeed and add to society, and those who just leech from it.

Presently, as I do observe, there are some issues both conceptually, and in terms of balance.

Presently, it appears that Action-Points, or as I had suggested it be renamed, "Willpower", were the only numeric resource where one may simply refresh of these by clicking upon some boots. As these did grant to most points above the maximum, one could consider that the maximum Willpower should be inconsequential as long as these were in existence and one did possess of a regeneration interval long enough that one could go whithersoever one did please without regard to one's maximum value.

If one were to restore of value to the maximum Willpower/Action-Points that one should attempt to achieve, there could be consideration for the following, which all achieve value in increasing the maximum, although by different methodology:

1. Removal of the boots that do grant of these points in excess, or at least a cost to use the boots, such as heating of them in Necrovion; or mayhap, that the accessible (i.e. presently Non-Necrovian) boots should grant a number which were well below the usual maximum (e.g. boots that would set AP to 100 - this would retain of purpose, but also grant value to the maximum)

2. Recoding of AP such that one cannot exceed one's maximum - making the maximum AP the limit to increase; this would require consideration of recoding many values within the realm so that they should eventually be accessible

3. Regeneration should restore one's AP entirely or in proportion rather than a fixed numeric value (thus, increasing AP would increase the number regenerated per interval)

4. AP maximum should have some other purpose in addition to that which were presently so (thus, the value of AP maximum would be dependent on the value of this additional purpose). An example for this would be that wearing armour/iwielding weapons would decrease the AP maximum when equipped - conceptually, this could be considered that one's willpower were less when one were wearing of heavier armour, given it's burdensome nature; removing of these would restore of the lost willpower maximum.

As for the regeneration interval:

If one's regeneration interval should restore of AP to maximum, then it may be reasonable to also increase the interval, either proportionally or otherwise, depending on the presence of other sources of AP (such as the aforementioned boots). It doth appear that the advantage of a long interval were in the presence of sources that would grant points (of vitality or AP or otherwise) above one's maximum, whereas if these were not present, then there would be an advantage in a more brief interval. This were a careful balance, but it doth not make conceptual sense that one should be able to hold of greater willpower for a longer duration if one merely takes longer to recoup of't.


In summary:
AP, and consequently, maximum AP, were essentially free presently; that which were free to all and in abundance shall hold of little or no value in exchange; this must change. It may be reasonable to balance the regeneration interval around such a change.

Hello MD community!
It has truly been along time! I had dwelled among you about a dozen years ago and played consistently for at least half a year. I even managed to try to do a promotional thingy for MD where I managed the game's ratings on other sites (and tried to get us hosted on others as well). I had a lot of fun, well I never beat BigC, but I did have a lot of fun.
Then... my computer broke and I couldn't get a new one for 6 months, which led me to stop being a part of this community.
I am so glad that I was summoned back through electronic communication. Apparently the spell that Mur cast, called MagicDuels was not through with me yet. Nor was I through with it. 
May both MD and myself keep growing!

2 December 2019, Samon passed on. 
 
Samon has always been a reflection of myself, he was myself. However as time went on the part of me he reflects became weaker and weaker. Samon has been death within the realm of MD for several years and with good reason. I won't go into details as to how and why, but over the last week things happened that made me realize Samon is no more. 
This passage is not a sad occurrence, I'd even say it's a rather happy one. Even if I haven't been very active, MD has been a major part of my life. Therefore I feel like I can't move on without tying things up here.
I might be on Samon a few more times during the coming weeks, but as nothing more than a shadow of the past. After that I'll probably leave MD for some time, but I do plan on returning at some point in a new shape.
To all who knew me, fare well, and I hope we'll meet again in the next life. Now excuse me, I have to go to a meeting with Marind.

Chapter 27 - A sad farewell
Gibberish Rant about Hollywood:
I saw Joker on the theater yesterday. I can't recommend it enough. I was ready to get extremely dissapointed 
and curse Holywood's seven generation of family again or just plain out leave in the middle. Duh its River Phoenix from
'Her; and you know Holywood (soul mafia of +2000s). It left me hot and cold (that's a good thing in this case). It
seems Holywood decided between what they were doing and survival, it was better to stop pandering to u-know-whos and
trying to just roll over one group of folks instead of bringing people together. I can't wait to see more ambitious
movies (i wanna see masterpieces (at least in ambition)) without politics and less and less exporting(i'm sad to say injecting) of trademark strongarming(strangleholding) and in European case pessimism. Now, i never believed people can change
(nor they should) but maybe organizations can. When i pay for a movie i don't wanna add insult to injury,ie i'm being
brainwashed by an extremely bitter person with a good solid education or what ever. I wanna enjoy the movie etcc... 
so does everyone else. Anyway movie was super and i'm darn inspired thus sparked another chapter. Here ye go.

 

I get random ideas at random times, and today, when I opened the MD forum, I saw Ignnus' topic. Then I thought 'Why not?'.
But I lack the time to write something elaborate, so it'll be some gag stuff. Also, I need reputation to keep going. Positive or negative, it doesn't matter. Hit the down/up button and I will continue writing new 'episodes'.  
Today, it's 'The Necrovion Cafe'.
Ignnus was dragging his feet across the Necrovion wasteland. After he left the House hours ago, he managed to climb all the stairs without assistance and was now contemplating death. After all, what else was he to do while leaning on the graveyard brick wall, wheezing like a geezer?
I'm tired of this ****, he mumbled. 
The priests were doing their habitual techno dance around the literate bonfire. Ignnus must have lost it seeing them, because he started to scream:
I'm tired of this SHIIIIIT! I want asphalt! I want a hat, I want a gas mask and...and...a coffee would be great...'
The priests were too busy to stop and listen, but out of nowhere, a shade appeared.
Did you say... coffee? it asked.
Yeah, said Ignnus. Do you have some?
There is a price to pay...for everything, the shade smirked.
Price? scoffed Ignnus. I would KILL for a cup of coffee. How's that for a price?
The shade chuckled. 'It seems we have found what to motivate our troops with, Master.'

Ignnus was sipping his freshly-baked beans coffee, with sugar cane and sour cream on top, at the Necrovion Café. He looked as happy as a corporate employee at lunch - only he carried a bazooka on his back. Somewhere, the Shade Sentinel was grinning.

No one was so impressed with Ledah's path through the tournament he kindly bowed out to maintian his honor. (Or the other world kept him from completing his fight is in a reasonable timeframe).

And now, the main event, the legendary fight between a (former) king and a god! Jubaris vs Chewett!
this much anticipated battle more than delivered, these two oldtimers exchanged jabs without a second thought. when the bell ran and the fight was over only one was left standing... the one and only...
well done, well done. and as his armor showed not an easy win. a 3-1 result however giving a clear image that his victory was hardfought.
of course our losing finalist deserves praisings too, a tournament regular that always ends up in the top is certainly a sign of skill.

Gosh, it's been quite a while since I've spoken to anyone here. Even the odd person I kept in touch with, I have the last messages sent... A year ago. 
I'm reading over stuff, thinking about the past and the people in it. It's weird to think that other people have been getting on with their own lives. I kind of imagine the people that "lived" here as not ever really ageing or changing in the least. Obviously, I watched people change in front of my eyes and just didn't really ever notice it. I wish I could hear everyone's stories since the last time I spoke to them, to see if everyone else has changed as much as I imagine they have. I'd be surprised if they hadn't to be honest. 
I'm don't know how things are going at the minute. I haven't asked, I don't really want to. In my mind, this is the place it always used to be back when I used to frequent it. There's honestly a special place in my heart for the people and places here, and it makes me tear up a little to type that, feeling silly as all heck as I do. I don't know whether this is a Hello, or a Goodbye, or what else it really could be. Something I can't put into words. That's a bit unlike me, these days. I like to think that I'm just a tad more articulate, flowery, expressive, whatever.
I've had a lot of issues with expression in the past. Perhaps I wanted people to notice when I radically changed? I don't think they did, or they were kind enough to not point it out in a rude way. Maybe that's why I chose this sort of shapeshifter persona, despite how outright irritating that must have been back in the day. I loved to play characters and switch things up, and I think a lot of that was finding myself, as sappy as it reads to my own eyes. I guess my real point here is just in a way that I probably gave off a lot of wrong impressions. I don't mean that in a fake way. I'm not really planning on re/kindling up a bunch of friendships. I didn't know how to get across what I wanted sometimes. Fake hostility probably came out a lot as real hostility. This applies to EVERYONE I ever spoke to at any point. I can't say I've ever... Really, truly, actually despised anyone here, or even remotely disliked anyone for longer than a minute. No, not even you.
It's bittersweet to read over things. Surprisingly, more sweet than bitter. I can't put my finger on it. I feel detached from who I used to be, though as a few people have alluded to in the past, I'm a different person entirely publicly and privately, normally. 
Maybe some of you haven't had a break (and I type that assuming this is going to be read by anyone, I'm fairly sure it isn't.) Maybe you're thinking about what a random little thing this is. I sure am! I've been gone for years though, I think, and think I needed to say something, though I know I've said things along these lines before, but perhaps not as heartfelt as it is now, with all the experience and knowledge I've gotten under my belt since those times.
Anti-climax. Apologies. Sorry for being an annoying little s- sugarcube. I appreciate beyond what I can express in words all the things that you did for me though, intentionally or not, well-intentioned or not.

I believe this shall be the most daring quest that I ever do create upon these Forums; it may end in utter failure, but it were my hope that it were not so.

Among the most mysterious and poorly understood parts of the realm is Inner-Magic - that deemed such by Mur. In time past, there had been many who did possess a fragment of Inner-Magic to share with others of the realm, in reward for quests. I do believe Mur hath further fragments to grant, but this is not a quest that doth arise out of necessity; merely that I have been overly impressed of recent of the realm's brilliance.
Thus do I offer this quest this anniversary:
Create an Inner-Magic spell document, including all of its levels. The first were a description, and each level shall increase in depth; each level should be brief.

An example of one in near-entirety may be found of the Timeless Shot spell - https://magicduel.com/index.php?pag=samplespell  - do note of the complexity of thought required to conceive of such magic.
Aelis hath offered to judge of this quest, as one of the coveted Soldiers of the Inner Sun. I shall provide them as anonymous entries, so that he may judge them based on their quality.

The quest entries shall be judged upon the close of the Anniversary such that the prizes may be awarded, but it may be that this quest shall persist, if there were sufficient interest and exceptional submissions.

Rewards for this quest were as petitioned from Ailith and Chewett - A wishpoint to the submission best judged, and anniversary creatures to those placed second, and third. Do note that I shall ask further for anniversary creatures in reward if there were an excess of submissions that Aelis should deem deserving thereof. Submissions, as with mine other quests of the Anniversary, shall remain upon the Forum only.

If all the submissions are deemed insufficient in quality, I do reserve the right to change the rewards accordingly, but this too I shall defer to Aelis.

There is no guarantee that these will be deemed even remotely sufficient to even attract a passing glance from Mur for consideration of implementation; yet, the realm's brilliance has not failed me thus far. Murspeed.

As far as alliances and guilds go, I'm about 90% sure the only "important" change "recently" (using that word loosely) would be when Eon traded in all his Mad Emperor points towards getting a Mansion renamed for his own use in the East, and then gave all his backing (at that point, just his word was left) to Sunfire for Eastern Emperor.
DST also seems to think shes doing some harm to the CotE by killing Aia to disband it, but in reality shes just wasting her time.
Aside from that, nothing overly important has happened when it comes to Guilds/Alliances.
On other notes, Syrian became PermaMP6 during "testing", Sunfire earned (and I mean earned) MP7, as did Azull and Miq, oh and Miq became GGs new King.
Azull earned the right to work with A25 as did a few others if memory serves and has been doing a damn good job on that front.
Am I forgetting anything? Anyone? ( O.o)

Oh..I think I am the most patient person in this whole MD but this is not about that. It's about the fact that I called on your bs and now you are trying to bs me some more. Basically what 95% of MD population is doing: bragging with no real support. Because why not? Words don't cost anything.

I have experience with A25 (second Labyrinth), even though that was years ago. Would love to get involved again.
The stuff I am more interested is expanding the MD realm itself rather than modifying existing scenes.
