  1. Hnn.. list so far: heluba Glaistig Chewett Tiberius Reign (? supported idea of article attempt, didn't really say he would want to help though) ._. Ahm, doesn't anyone who posted on this topic a long time ago want to help with this? Or someone since then? Opportunity to shine! Participate in this great endeavor! Voice your generous willingness to help! Well, maybe writing an article doesn't really take a lot of people.. Just, that, neither I nor Chewett wants to write the actual thing; don't know about heluba or Tiberius. A volunteer for writing the thing? There isn't much point to gathering information/sources and having people volunteer for copyediting/proofreading if no one is going to write it. Otherwise just general suggestions from people would be good enough--I just think it'd be cool for this to be a cooperative production. Maybe all my suggestions were discouraging. :'D No, honestly, come out, we don't have to do things the way I said, I was just getting excited and thinking it might be a good that way so threw it out; you can just tell us, you know, you think it should be done another way, it won't matter to anyone, I know nothing about writing articles, yeah. Erm, so let's wait a bit and see if anyone else wants to help.
  2. Hello :') I hope I will see you sometime too~ I feel like I only log in for an hour period each day now. Maybe one day you will become like me and at that thought go, "How can that be?!" MD...
  3. And give us feedback! /coughs Welcome to MD.
  4. I can understand both sides. I think it's a pity to discard the possibility of natural evolution of actual players to deep game integration, but it seems reasonable. Maybe an option could be left if a player wants to achieve the level of Wodin with the role he created and is willing to accept the possibility of the account becoming a public one if they desert the game later, but otherwise I don't really think there is much of an alternative when these characters are so integral to the game. As to Wodin specifically, would it be possible to create some significant changes corresponding to this event? Perhaps in the story, some event occurs that makes his persona change as if he is another person in a sense. Umm, something like a new Wodin who is different from all the previous, but has memories of his ancestor-Wodins. His avatar is noticably altered. A slight change to the name. Something to set apart the old Wodin and the new Wodin in records, just this one time, because none of us thought about what should happen in instances like this--Wodin expected the role to remain his, his sole personality to be associated with it and no one else's, as signified by the account resetting. This won't happen again, I hope.
  5. I'm agreeing with everyone so far, with nothing much to add.
  6. I think we should make a list of people who want to help with this effort. I'm not exactly sure how a group of people would collaborate in the creation of an article; maybe different sections written by different people and suggestions/corrections thrown out by everyone? I don't have any experience with creating articles in Wikipedia and I don't know all of the guidelines, so I'm not sure I could help much but I'll try do some reading and contribute as much as I can. Ahem, so is there actually anyone who would like to write the article or part of it? Or help in other ways? Copyediting/proofreading? Does someone have an idea as to a plausible organization and different sections of the article? Is there anything else we should think about and delegate people to? I think the more people involved, the more fun (and less work) this project will be. As for information gathering, it'll be a little tough. Manu always seems busy but maybe if he or Shoeps is contacted they could supply some information which might help. We'll also want as many secondary and tertiary sources as possible--meaning reviews, ratings, anything that can be found about MagicDuel not from the actual game or homepage. And I did some brief google searching for those things.. :') Oh well, we can always redo this article thing later when we're more well-known. Best effort! i__i I can't get much from my brain thinking about historic background. The creator is Manuel Tanase from Romania, and the game went public last year some month. I think it's been in works since 2005. Apparently he did some web designing and advertising artworks (banners and such things) for an occupation, don't know if he still does. He paints for a hobby. And Manu is 26 or some age around that. Manu.. should do some interviews, any which might be publicated. In English. *tries to read some website Manu created in Romanian, translated by google* Anyway, I think we should first a) think of what should be in the article b) find sources which have information about such things, and c) ask appropriate persons the rest. We can do the five Ws (and one H) and list then some broad questions to research or as a second resort interview people about. Report our findings and decide who should write what. Keep in mind we should be objective and identify the controversial/dislikeable things about MagicDuel as well as the unique concepts. Primary sources aren't really appreciated unless cited in secondary or tertiary sources, which is trouble. Wikipedia emphasizes "no original research." So if we go asking Manu some questions, his answers or details he includes in them should be published somewhere reliable if possible, maybe even his own webpage, before we submit whatever we come up with. Rather long post. Oh, I never want to become a professional journalist.

    No Man's Land

... I still don't see why you need No Man's Land for this alliance in which you won't have an obligation to the land. Why not have no penalty or bonuses, just be an alliance with no land? And phrog! No Man's Land! Read the name! No Man's Land!~ Do you not understand it even though I've repeated it so many times? Are you just ignoring it? If you really must claim some land because you have some sort of silly conception that an alliance must have a land, then I think the underground area below Marind Bell would fit your alliance better.
  8. Logan, you say that.. but truly, what is wrong with the way things are now? Explain further how things are not balanced, and even if they aren't, why this sort of imbalance is bad. Why change the world if there is nothing truly wrong with it except it contradicts some person's idea of balance? Do you think war will stop because night returns? The war right now isn't the result of a lack of cycle, only your insistence to have an army opposing others who don't want your concept of balance. If you want to change things, then do so peaceably and with the knowledge and agreement of the people you will be affecting with this goal. Tell us how your concept of balance would improve the world. Tell us upon what science of the world it's based, what research you have conducted. You told me that plants would die as things are. Do you know that this world isn't like others? That plants in Marind Bell may thrive even without rain? We want proof, not supercilious conjecture to justify an offensive army. Convince with logic rather than force. It seems immature otherwise. We are blinded by light and prejudices? Open our minds!--do you truly think we are so unworthy? Maybe instead, you should think that you are weak to not be able to do such a thing. Some points to ponder: I'd love to hear the shades say that they'd like the sun appearing over Deathmarrow. Do you truly think the shades' objective is this sort of balance? Last I heard, they only cared for war when needed to balance, and the balance I was speaking of, not yours. Khalazdad said it was a secondary goal, and never claimed that the shades decided it was necessary. He said something like, "I am the wild card. I have the ability to decide". ... I don't think this reason you supply why you are in the alliance is the reason why the alliance exists. Neither do I think it justifies discarding an agreement for peace.
  9. I would think chapter two first, because you can't get to chapter three unless you play through in chapter two. However, I think it's likely that it won't be matter of chapter by chapter implementation. Probably work on one or several routes at once (in chapter two and continuing into chapter three) will be released, rather than the chapter two part of all the routes and then the chapter three part of the same routes. I can't say for sure, though; I'm just basing this on the fact that one route that already has access to chapter three is released. Well, and also the fact that chapter two is finished, and that I believe that route with access to chapter three is complete, or at least the chapter three part is. So, basically, I think chapter three completion of routes will trigger the release of them, and chapter two and three will be implemented at the same time for those routes.
  10. I don't know; it's a pretty annoying bug that might want removal, because people in the lower mindpowers usually can't tell regen doesn't work unless the examine a combat log closely or someone tells them. It wouldn't be much of a problem if they knew, since they could just avoid using that ability and be fine (they don't get negative exp if the enemy uses it like in mp5; the regen just doesn't do anything). And then there are those aspiring mp5s who aren't yet looking to reduce exp but rather train and upgrade creatures. I mean, I don't think there are a lot of mp5s who deliberately set regen rits to impede a new mp5's progress (since it can help veteran mp5s), but it can come up in random fights or when people like No One are helping others who want to lower their exp. No One's ritual can set you back a lot of exp, even if you avoid attacking him more than once when you discover it. All in all I don't think it's too big of a problem, just a little irritating (and more sometimes, like if you attack a ritual like No One's) to those who encounter it once in a while. It could be avoided if there was just no limit to exp in mp5 (until chapter 3 and mp6 becomes available to all) thus eliminating the need for negative exp, but I think some would feel that only people willing to spend the effort as players do manipulating the regen bug should be given the privilege of being able to avoid an exp limit. The best thing would be for another mindpower available to all, so we can finally let those who reach the max exp progress. Too bad, though, because it might not happen very soon. In the meanwhile, it should be added to the official ingame list of known bugs, and maybe the one on the forums as well.
  11. To the contrary, I believe we can prevent war, so long as all the alliance leaders agree that we should be at peace. Golemus and Necrovion should model themselves off of Loreroot-defensive armies, just to be prepared should someone foolish (namely one of the alliance leaders who actually wants war despite the agreement) shift things about. Spies are harmless if they find nothing harmful in the things they moniter. I think it would help if all the alliance leaders would state the objective (and other minor goals, the philosphy of the alliance structure and actions, etc) of their alliance. The only reason for war is discord between objectives, and no objectives being clear, the reason for the apparent upcoming war isn't clear either. Yes, what may be stated may not be necessarily true or thorough, but it may help nonetheless. For those who bark on and on about balance-what is wrong with the way things are now? The lands are basically balanced. Those who favor sunlight can dwell in Golemus and conduct research or whatever they do there. Those who favor the dark and the shades can go lark about with the shades. Loreroot is neutral, and Marind Bell basically as well. If there were no tensions, would there be reason for discontent? If you truly want to spread the power of your great and mighty land/alliance, know that your quest is futile. The world of MagicDuel is one of natural actions and reactions which restore balance on its own. The shades had grown too great without opposition; thus Wodin was created. Now that Wodin has died, expect something crippling to occur to Necrovion (perhaps it already has occured). You cannot overcome this force of the MD world without power beyond mortal power. War creates nothing except balance which can be achieved just the same with peace, which produces far more. With peace comes the time and resources to progress and better society for all of us. All these silly tensions annoy me, honestly. Alliances can serve other purposes than the creation of war. There are some of you with a certian bloodlust, who say that war will be far more interesting than peace, but you are wrong. It will be brute, mindless combat which dulls the mind. Juxtraposition that with the friendly competition of peace, the efforts to better one's own land because of nationalism. For things which create progress are the most difficult things to create.
  12. /applauds I have trouble interpreting what Manu says sometimes, so I don't know exactly what he means by appropriate topics (plural?) to discuss "this issue" But even if he didn't mean the start of alpha 7, I think a celebratory topic is nice. Don't you? You do! This is something to applaud! I don't know all of those 100 changes mentioned but let us hold in remembrance those momentous updates: a new combat system with more regulations to get a "victory" changes to penalty of low honor (-500) the first secret feature release the first interactive rpc in the form of Wodin who notably also left during this alpha stage a new and faster server the addition of stage two and faster head distribution to head contests another new combat system with four different results and more regulations changes to the honor system (negative honor reduced by three, postive multiplied by two) rpc quests and wishpoints return of alliances! 5 more ap each regeneration n_n magic system made public creations of game manager, .Shoeps. contest to reward PWRs and RPCs So, um, feel free to discuss any of these milestones and others I forgot, the end of alpha 6/start of alpha 7 in general, the "organizatoric" changes and developments of inner circle magic or other updates as they happen from now on, and anything else that is related to this historic event.
  13. I think rpcs will be given a doc each, or anyway some rpcs will be given one, and these rpcs will hand out the doc as a prize. So sort of like an exchange of valued information.
  14. B) Will rpcs be able to collect documents, too?
  15. Not everyone got a drachorn. Each winner was asked what they would like as a prize; most picked an exclusive creature, but I know at least Eldrad asked for more VE and VP instead.
  16. This bug has been reported many times I'll put it in the bug list if it isn't there already.
  17. Boy, let me enlighten you. That is not in the least a goat humanoid. That is me, who has at the very least a human torso. What, are you blind? That face is a human's face. -____-ll Do you see horns sticking out of my head?! Well then! I think it's a very adorable animation, however, just as long as the mistaken identity is cleared up. I might adopt it, you know. Fond of goats, I am. Put in my profile..
  18. ... I WONDER WHY MY NAME IS STUCK RANDOMLY IN POSTS ?
  19. Aren't they cute? All the Shinigami?
  20. WelcometoMD&havefunasksomequestionsman *is guiltily starting to get tired of going through same message every time a new member comes by* Someone ought to replace me as the first person who says "Hello." >_>
  21. Ah, him! The doll doesn't accurately represent him, you know. He should have this ugly "I hate the world" expression on his face, that or "Yes! I have defeated justice!" euphoria. Well, he wouldn't say that. He would say, "Yes! I have brought justice to the world!" You can tell I'm L's fan. On the topic of cuteness, L is cute, too. Eats wrappers.
  22. I think happiness has been restored to my heart somewhat. Ryjoran, I don't recognize that doll-figure. And who is Kira?
  23. Lulu.. grew his hair long when I wasn't looking >_>
