This thread will be used to suggest the different categories for awards, scheduling stuff as well at the bottom. So yeah, this is for award suggestions, not nominations, and certainly not voting yet. The below list is what the final categories were last year, striked out are ones which are decided not to include into the list. New categories are also encouraged, and will get added to the list if there's no/negligible objections to it and multiple people want it included. This is the purpose of the thread, to come up with a final list of categories, remove and add as you decide, I'll just edit the list every so often. There are currently 18 categories on the list, this needs to be reduced to [b]15 or less[/b], so please suggest which ones to remove, or I'll do it, and I may remove some you want to keep. Saying that, like I said, you are welcome to suggest new ones as well, just bare in mind the limit to the amount of categories. Players excluded from being nominated will be noted in a future thread. Adventuring Award For the person most dedicated, or who perseveres most at quests. Not necessarily for completing, or winning the most. Best Artist For the person thought to be the most skilled at art in the realm. Generally speaking this refers to drawing/painting, rather than other forms of art. Best Quote For the person who authored the best quote or PL entry. "Best" is determined by the voter, whether this be for humorous, witty, clever, or any other reason the voter chooses. Best Spell Caster For the person most enthusiastic or creative with casting spells - by which it is meant the use itself of them, the words used or another method by which the voter deems appropriate. Champion Fighter For the person considered to be the best fighter in the realm, this does not necessarily have to be the strongest fighter in the realm, but the one that uses the combat system to the best effect. Elite Evil Villain of the Year For the person who is viewed as being the most villainous over the past year. The voter can interpret this in various ways, including but not limited to; most negative disturbance caused, most times sent to jail, most people peeved off by them, most ingenious/devious plan devised and carried out. Fossil of the year For the player who has been around so long they have turned into a fossil. The player must be visibly active over the past year, and on the veterans list in game. The Golden Protector For the player who is viewed as performing the best in the role of protector(MP6) during the past year. The player does not have to currently be a protector. The voter should take into account the actions of the other protectors in the realm, rather than automatically voting for their own. Best can mean how helpful the protector has been, to how effective they have been in recruiting worshippers, this is at the voters discretion. Helper of the Year For the player deemed to have been the most helpful. This is open to any player, and is not restricted to LHOs. The area of helpfulness the player focusses on can vary, but due to the original focus of the award being to LHOs, it would be implied that the award is based on peoples helpfulness towards newer players. The voter should realise that even though they may not get on with, or have been helped by one of the nominees, this does not mean that the player is not indeed helpful. Most Addicted For the player who just can't leave MD for more than a minute without needing a fix. Most Influential For the player thought to hold the most influence in the realm. By influence it is meant; ""The capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behaviour of someone or something, or the effect itself"" (OED). Outstanding Service to MD For the player thought to have done the most to contribute to MD over the year. This can be in any field. Paragon Papers For the player with the best presented papers. This is a purely objective vote, as every player finds different things nice looking. It also encompasses the player's backstory as presented in their papers. Pre-eminent Role Player For the player deemed to Role Play the best. The player does not have to stay in character all the time to win this award (though it may help), rather when they do role play it is to the highest standard - this does usually go in hand with remaining in character. Prime Quest For the player seen as creating the best quest over the past year. Just because a voter did not manage to complete the quest, does not mean it was a bad quest necessarily, the voter is asked to take this into account when voting. Rookie of the year For the player deemed to have made the most progress since they started their account. The player must have created their account since 1st January 2011 (inc) and be between 20 - 365 AD at the time of voting. By progress it is meant a step towards a defined role or position (not necessarily official) within the realm, or integration within the community to a large degree. Superlative Orator For the player viewed to be the best at debating. It should be noted that the player doesn't have to win every debate, but argue their case well in it. The debates should have been publicly accessible, and taken place in game or on the forum, with no exceptions. Top Techie For the player with the most technical knowledge. This is not just related to scripting, but also extends to game mechanics as well. I have attempted to write explanatory descriptions of each category, the feedback from last year indicated that people weren't entirely clear what each award was for. It is taken as a given that anything relating to the nomination of a person for a category has happened in the past year, and not before that, I did not feel it necessary to write it out in every single description. If you can think of more enveloping descriptions for the categories, please suggest them, I would like the areas to be as clear as possible as to what they represent. You are also welcome to suggest renames for categories. If you suggest a new category, please provide a clear description as well. [b][u]Schedule[/u][/b] Suggestions (This thread) will be open for 6 days, till 2nd Dec, at which point; Nominations will open on 3rd, will also last 6 days, ending 8th Dec, then; Voting, starting 9th Dec, again for 6 days, ending 14th Dec, or until 100 votes (whichever is sooner); Awards Ceremony will then take place on 17th Dec. [b][u]About Schedule[/u][/b] - Suggestions details at top of page. - Nominations must be made by other people, you cannot nominate yourself, doing so can lead to being excluded from all voting and being voted for. This includes from alts. - The in game voting system will be used, I haven't spoken to contact about this yet, but I'm thinking it'll be fine since we did it last year. Alt votes will be removed from said list and owner voting rights and winning rights removed. There will be a low AD requirement to be able to vote (To prevent people not knowing wth is going on, voting). You will not ~have~ to vote in all categories, but it is preferred. Myself, Peace, Awiiya, and dst, will independently count up the votes, and match up numbers, to ensure that none of us are miscounting. - Awards Ceremony will hopefully take place in Sage Keep again, wherever it ends up being, should be at 2000 server time Saturday 17th Dec, if there are any objections, please state them. Please read the linked Feedback thread. If you wish to argue against the point, please argue against what has been put in that thread (albeit argue it here, rather than there).

Since someone pointed out to me that this is mildly behind schedule currently (suggestions of categories to vote on started 16th Nov last year) this discussion will last approx 24h, might be a little earlier/later, whenever I happen to go to sleep Monday night, or it may well be Tuesday afternoon. The [url="http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/8745-md-anual-awards-feedback/"]feedback from last year[/url] suggested that people had an issue with in-land voting, so whilst I'd like to give plenty of time to discuss various options, we're rather lacking in time for the issue. Here are two proposed options, if you make a comment about one, please also make a comment about the other. If you believe you can propose another idea and have it accepted in this "24h window" then feel free. Both options take into account that you cannot nominate for those of your own land. 1. Completely deny the option to vote for those of your own land. 2. Use a mathematical formulae to reduce the point score that any votes for the same land receive; votescore/2 or votescore-3 (whichever results in the lower number) or such. Other things to note; I (and whoever I rope in to help me with the awards) will add people to each category as we find appropriate, if multiple (number yet to be defined) people request a name to be removed, it will be. This will hopefully do something to counter "obvious" candidates being left out due to shyness or such. There will be a uniformed number (value to be defined) of candidates per category. If a category lacks, then I point to the previous note. If a category has too many, then if multiple people ask for names to be removed, they will be, if there are still too many by the time nominations end, the Award organisers will reduce the number of candidates - it is in the public's interest to reduce the candidates to a suitable number without interference from the organisers, whilst we will aim to be neutral regarding the choices, I can imagine the comments that may be received after-the-fact if we remove certain people. The number of categories will be reduced, and limited to 15 (maximum, please discuss). There were 18 last year, the reduction is to limit certain overlaps the categories have. Winners of categories will not be able to win that category again for 5 years (in theory this ~won't~ create a loop of 5 people, but time will tell) This rule will backtrack, so someone winning it 2 years ago will have to wait another 3 to win it. Should individual exceptions, like me not winning Helper (if that still exists this year), be removed in place of this? There will be more than 100 voters allowed, I believe that they went in a day or two last year. "More" is not defined yet. All of the above is welcome to be discussed. I wrote this quickly so have not spoken to the other Award organisers from last year and so don't know if they're interested to help again this year. If anyone is interested in helping, let me know - there will be a limit of 3/4 people organising and vote counting. So in summary, I'd say it is all "kosher" The Road to Love, works in combination with the scene description as well (I don't think any reference to the road to ERO would make sense)

Player Logs are what the name suggests; logs of what the player is (loosely) neither '.' nor a fancy Happy Hallowe'en describe a player or tells you anything about them. To a certain extent, quests shouldn't really be done through PLs, but since I've seen some sticking around, I figure it might be allowed ~shrug~

what were the entries that got deleted? I would figure that whoever has the PL deletion ability did it, rather than a bug

When you say 0, you mean the maximum was at 0, or the use count? If maximum, then err...yeah, screwy, anyone else? If use count, then it should be at 0, cos you haven't used it yet

Certain spells can't be used during HC, doesn't matter if they're temp spells, or permanent ones. Are you asking for spells to not be applicable to offline people, or for Eon to be an exclusion character who isn't allowed to cast any spells? And Kyphis, I believe some can't overcome the AP requirement.

Last I checked, presuming you actually mean the same value of coins as creds (you might want creds more, so have changed the conversion), it's not 4/5sc per cred, it's around 2ish?
