PS: did someone noticed that rants come from ''profi' rp;s? or their group? .. what can i say..in the end that profi rp ends...leaves nothing to do more and it simply end...it limits you
Guys! Can you seriously not see it? You just can't resist to take a pop at the 'others'. MD being divided? That is EXACTLY the problem. MD is broken down into little clans of friends and divisions between 'grinders' and 'RPrs'. Yes, people do need to start doing more. Yes people can try to make things more interesting. BUT, how the hell can they, when there always seems to be someone that wants to jump up and down on them because they don't agree? I've seen the dojo pulled cos people didn't like it, now we want the ggg pulled. I've seen quests condemned because we don't like 'story' quests or whatever bloody thing it happens to be. I've seen people shot down for attempting to offer to help out. Its going on ALL the time. Division of lands? Half the bloody people in alliances in different lands are alts. How the hell can you divide them when its the same bloody people involved? How can you have Alliance A at odds with alliance B, when Johnny is in both of them? Then what? I've seen conflict erupt WITHIN MD over matters OUTSIDE of it. Without getting into a debate on RP and what is good or bad, it seems that some people are completely incapable of distinquishing me (Barry) from Firsanthalas. And it seems that this inability in general is the cause of a lot of problems to boot. There ARE problems with MD that need to be resolved by MUR. There are ALSO problems that WE, as players can resolve. EVERYONE is seeking to blame someone else, or find fault with one area or group. It is NOT that simple. Its a multifaceted problem. It won't be fixed overnight. FACT: the AL has been dead since September. FACT: it does not represent player actions. If that is not the intention, then perhaps something like Yrth's suggestion of a PAL should be looked at. FACT: Combat does have serious issues and you can't get away from the fact that there is an issue with losses and stat loss for some. FACT: Quests are a mess. I have a load of WPs to give out for quests and there are almost zero going on in Loreroot right now. FACT: The torch competition in its current form is grossly unfair. If you want to have any contest between lands, then it has to be based on some principle of fairness. Right now it is not. I'm not sure what you expect kings or anyone else to do right now to be honest. Lets talk about people whining about lack of tools and abilities shall we. As king I can make a person a citizen of Loreroot. I also got a bank of WPs to distribute. That is it. I get requests from people for various things, which I have no control over. Before the ring was given I got continuous requests for citizenship and even complaints as to why I had rejected their applications (applications to a form in the side panel that doesn't work and therefore never got seen let alone rejected). It go so annoying that I asked to have an announcement made to say that kings couldn't make people citizens and didn't get the applications (as was the case at that time). I may be king of a land, but I am only one person at the end of the day and there is only so much that I can do. Perhaps I have fallen down in some areas (I know of one thing I have not done for a certain person). I need other people to help to get things moving too. Right now it just seems to be extremely difficult if not impossible. There just seems to be a general malaise about the place. Items. I have a list that I'll be sending to Mur later on. Personally, I think this is a total can of worms. Some people refuse to trade items, or if they do, want crazy prices. My personal opinion is that people are going to be unable to get hold of items they suggested after they are given out randomly. And then yours truly here is going to be listening to the whining afterwards. I am personally demoralised. It even seems that even when I try to keep doing things that I am 'too involved' or something. If I do nothing, then I am lazy, if I do something, I'm too involved. What do I do? This is not a 'poor me', this is simply how I feel and how I suspect many people here feel. There are a lot of people that are running quests or trying to be sociable in general in MD. But it just seems that people are all too quick to find fault with everyone else (and yes I'm sure I am guilty of that too). People around here seem incredibly keen to jump on and point out the bad things. You never really see anyone applauding the good. One final point. Regardless of whether or not you want to go around fighting or RP, MD needs interaction. Even if its just a simple chat. I can walk about MD most of the time I am on and there is bog all chat and interaction. I say hello to people and nothing. I can paint someone's head green and get no response. I'm not going to say that is the grinders fault, because to be honest, its daft. I can talk to people anywhere, the problem is they ain't talking back. There is currently talk of removing the GGG. Can I say simply that you seriously need to consider stuff like this VERY seriosusly. MD really really needs focal points. Places where you can go and expect to find people to talk to. Sanctuaries don't really fit the bill it seems. If you remove all the focal points, then you will really have a scattered and divided landscape. Every community has a focal point, it is part of what makes a community. And I have to say that some people that speak a lot on this forum don't seem to actually say much of anything within MD proper. Just something to think about.
-
You know what lets go ahead and remove GGG. Lets continue to remove every single thing that anyone sets up in MD because a few people have an issue with it. Actually, lets just go ahead and remove MD altogether. There's obviously not enough people for a certain few to pound on, so lets remove it so they can go elsewhere and do that. ANd lets face it, RP is rubbish and anyone that even attempts to RP is a waste of space and they should obviously spend there time wandering around with giant bullseyes on their backs. Infact, before we do that lets set those people's stats to 1 billion in everything so that they can feel good about themsleves for 5 seconds. I'm sick to death of listening to crap from people who like to whine and have issues with everything and everyone in MD. DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE AND STOP JUST PUTTING THINGS AND PEOPLE DOWN! NOTE: If you have a severe inability to comprehend sarcasm delete this posting from your mind. It does not do what it says on the tin.

I'm sorry Mur but there is something that I have to say in regards to story. If the people in MD can make a difference then that has to be reflected. I completely accept that you have a vision of MD and a grand storyline, but there has also got to be scope for people to move and possibly even change things within it. Otherwise there is no consequence or importance to the actions of people. But even aside from any grand scheme, there are the day to day happenings in MD and story lines that have nothing to do with any grand scheme really, but yet, are part of the MD world and its people. The AL does not seem to reflect this at all. Its my personal feeling that many people are of the opinion that their ideas and actions don't count for anything. That will only lead to people having the opinion that there is no point in even trying to start anything going. Therefore you have stagnation and stagnation leads to death. I consider the AL to be the pulse of MD. Its a representation and information on what is happening in MD. Currently it looks like MD has not had a pulse since last September. Overall there is the impression that there is nothing happening and nothing at stake (at least if you go by the lack of AL activity). As one person, you can't know what is going on all the time, especially when you are not playing in MD itself much at times. The only thing that I can think of is this: Appoint a team of people (it should probably be the archivists, but they don't seem to be up to much (sorry guys, but you just don't seem to be doing anything. If you are, its a well kept secret) ) and have them report on what is going on. However, you could retain control on the actual updates of the AL. That way you can have a flow of material, which you can quickly vet and then put onto the AL (or not). Also, you have to remember that we don't know what your plans/visions are for MD, so we won't and can't always play along or behave as you expect. We are people, with our own motivations and desires and all the mayhem and oddities that come with. Perhaps its just me, but sometimes I get the impression that you are annoyed because people don't behave or think of things as you believe they should. Yet, at the same time, you tend to be very ambiguous or completely non-committal when it comes to discussing or telling people what you expect. I mean this with the greatest respect. Your not just the game creator, but you are the game manager and every manager needs to direct and delegate. You cannot do everything yourself. To use a very simple analogy, you are the manager of MD FC. You've had a few bad signings, but now you seem unwilling to sign a few new players and MD FC is starting to struggle in the league. Player morale is low and match attendance is flagging.

I am still waiting on feedback on items from some people. I have decided to draw a line in the sand. You until day 50 to get your submissions in. After that I won't entertain them or whining on the matter either. Remember you may not get items you suggest and indeed they may not be made at all, in the end that is up to Mur.

I am sorry, but I would like to point out that I'm not British. I'm Irish. I have nothing against English people, but I'm not British, end of. I would be equally annoyed if I were called an American or any other nationality. You might think this is rude or uncalled for, but its a personal bugbear of mine (and for the record about another 4 million people I can think of). That being said, I look forward to seeing Romania. What little I have seen of it looks lovely.

This issue is still ongoing. Ray has no access to Loreroot or Willow's Shop and other areas due to the Guards or other shade creatures being there. Can it be looked into please?
-
There does seem to be a bug with ve loss though. I've lost 100% twice in 24hrs. And there was no reason for it, it was not related to combat. I believe other people have experienced something similar.

That just makes it even worse imo. Your basically saying that your sole purpose is to make profit. I accept that people will seek to make profit, but at what point does one differentiate making profit and stymying the game? You make profit by trading, yet it appears that many people refuse to trade items altogether, or at the very least, only for ridiculous prices. If you buy an item for 3 silver (an item that was most likely received by a person for free I might add) and then seek to sell it on for 30; do you not think that is beyond making a profit? Do you not think that is extortionate? Furthermore, if people start to realise the crazy prices being asked for raw materials and items in general, then will that not lead to a spiral in price? Your 3 silver will become 10 and then your asking price a hundred? If this continues I will tell you exactly what will happen. People will not trade and there will be no item creation by the general public. At the very least, only the wealthiest people in MD will be able afford items. And imo some of these 'wealthy elite' will be the wheelers and dealers who don't seem to contribute much to MD other than lining their own pockets. If this continues you might as well change MD to 'Make Dosh', the game of monopoly building and cartels.

Citizen entails a number of things. First of all you are saying that you agree to obey the rule of that land and also to do what you can to defend and help it. The next thing is that you will take on the bonuses and drawbacks of the land alliance. So you will gain some bonuses to stats, but also the land timer and ap,ve,vp that comes with that. However, you are not in an alliance. If you understand this and are still happy to proceed let me know. One more thing. I can only make one person a citizen every 3hrs and you must be in the same location as me at the time. If you are in an alliance in Loreroot you are already a citizen and need not apply. Equally if you join an alliance in Loreoot that also means you become a citizen. So essentially joining an alliance also means you join the land as a citizen. If you are confused and want to know if you are a citizen its simple enough. Check where it tells you your MP level and it will show it there. For example:

Indrya, It sone thing to help someone and teach them. Its another to hand them the answer on a plate. There is also the land consideration here too. Every land except Marinds Bell has some form of restriction to access it. Necrovion with its gates and Golemus now with its maze and subsequently the inability to leave freely if you enter it. So telling someone how to defeat the guardians has two consequences. It diminishes the test factor (which can be a worthwile experience) and its also tantamount to handing over the keys to Loreroot. While Loreroot is an open land and we do allow people access without having to defeat the guardians (via the backdoor for instance) we never outright tell people how to defeat the guardians.
-
Guys and gals. Its becoming increasingly obvious that people are telling younglings how to defeat the Loreroot Guardians. This is something that you are supposed to figure out on your own. So in short, you are not doing them any favours. Stop telling people what to do to defeat them.
we don't sell them for massive amounts.
Erm, you said yourself earlier 30 silver for an ingredient item. Now some items require 3, perhaps more ingredients to make. So that would put the price at anything up to 120 silver and that's without factoring in the WP cost. To me that seems to be making the cost of getting items made rather excessive don't you think? And especially when you consider that many items won't even do anything. You could perhaps think that paying for an item with spell like abilities would be worth that kind of money, but an item that doesn't actually do anything? Seems completely unrealistic to me. As for items being devalued and you loosing out. Sorry, but your attitude seems to be that of a person seeking to take advantage of your fellows. In short, if you seek to exploit people, refuse to trade for fair prices and subsequently miss out. Well.... lets just say I won't loose any sleep.

Ok, It now seems that I can now grant citizenship. If your in a Loreroot alliance I believe you are effectively a citizen already. If you aren't in a Loreroot alliance and seek citizenship state so here or PM me (please choose citizenship as the PM tag). Please note that I can only grant citizenship every 3 hrs, so it may take some time to do this. Don't bother to apply unless you are sincere in looking to be a citizen of Loreroot and intend to stay as such. And remember once you are a citizen you are delcaring your intention to follow Loreroot's leadership and laws.

It could also be a good way to use MD silver and gold as an actually currency, rather than haphazardly used for barter. (Sorry mods, this should probably just been an amendment to the origianal post, if you'd like to fix that, its cool)

I think that the problem really is that the current system is inherantly flawed. Realistically if you want stone, you go to a mason, not wander about looking for some random person with a stone. If you want leather or hide, you go looking for person that sells that. That coupled with the fact that item materials are given to people for free and then can be used as a means for profiteering. Perhaps we could have shops (or designated persons) that can sell raw materials? Maybe even a shop in each land to represent the things found there? For instance, Loreroot would have a supply of timber and animal hides. Golemus, would have stone and maybe precious stones too. Necrovion could perhaps have sand and bone. MB has an underground, so perhaps precious stones or metals there? You get the idea. Anyway, each shop would perhaps regenerate the raw materials over time. This way items could have set prices and more fairness. The prices could even fluctuate according to supply levels. Granted it would still be possible for some people to try buying these up, but even then there would be more available and you could even try to limit the number of any one item you could purchase in a month say.

Due to the minor fact that DarElfMage has joined another alliance. Application denied.

As I said Grido, Im not interested in branding or getting any individual into trouble. What I am interested in is having people see what is not allowed and ceasing for future reference. Lets all see what is unacceptable and then speak of punishment if people continue to transgress in the future.
-
Just to be clear. This is not about blame or labelling people. I have deliberately not named anyone (except Rhaegar, for reasons which should be clear). I simply want people to wake up and smell the roses so to speak. I just want people to realise that talking and discussing things is an option. Once you start targetting a person or persons for something then you do just that. You label them. If someone does something that is wrong, there is no need to harrass or pursue them really. I don't understand why a case for something cannot be made without resorting to going after anyone.

Recent events in MD have left me feeling quite hurt, ashamed and to be honest with a complete sense of despair. I am going to ask you to do something for a moment if you will. I am going to ask you to take off your emotional response hat for a few moments and your ’member of (insert land name here)’ hat too. So let’s start at the beginning shall we? A while back there was a torch competition. I urged people in Loreroot to participate on the basis that, well to be quite honest, it seemed to be fizzling out and I thought it would be a good way to get people motivated and interested. And hey, it might have brought some reward for Loreroot, so sue me. I fully expected that if we did quite well, it would result in other lands sitting up and taking notice and in turn increasing activity. Not a bad thing at all I thought. Now we seemed to have gotten people interested. We employed a tactic which subsequently seemed to say the least, unpopular. Now resist the urge to explode with righteous indignation please. This ‘tactic’ was noted to be used by other lands. It doesn’t really matter who came up with it, who used it most or even if it was fair. What matters is that it was being used by other lands other than Loreroot. Even if not an official land strategy it was nevertheless in use. At no point previous to this did anyone at all say it was cheating (at least not to my knowledge). So let’s just leave it at the fact that while, unfair perhaps, or dirty even, it was not cheating (or at the absolute very least, nobody said it was and lots of people were doing it). Now, we come to a post by Rhaegar congratulating his fellow Lorerootians in winning. I will whole heartedly say that this was an amazingly moronic and potentially insensitive and insulting thing to do. However, he did say that it was not his intention to gloat or insult people and as he also said he did post it in the Loreroot section. Regardless, some people took offence to it. Now here it comes. Suddenly Loreroot cheated. A tactic that was not considered or identified as cheating suddenly is cheating. Rhaegar is personally called a cheat. Oddly enough a few people agree that indeed it is not cheating and has been employed by others. Yet Rhaegar remains branded as a cheat. Then it moves further and several people in Loreroot are told that they are cheaters too. In fact to be blunt, it basically descended into all of Loreroot being branded as cheats. I would also like to point out a few more things at this juncture. Several people who claimed to have been insulted by Rhaegar’s post had this to say about it “ “. Yup, nothing. Neither on the forum or to me. Now it seems that at this point the good and righteous people of MD (that being everyone that was not one of the evil cheaters in Loreroot) decided that it was good and proper that evil be vanquished. In some cases it seems the justification was to hurt Rhaegar for his hurtful comments. This is where it gets intriguing really. After choosing to make no effort to air your hurt, you set about to punish Rhaegar by stomping all over Loreroot and the evil cheaters therein. Yes, you thought so highly of the need to stamp on Rhaegar (one person) you’d walk over everyone else to do so. Now to me that is a bit like carpet bombing a country to teach one person that upset you a lesson, but I digress. In fact, I guess you had no choice in the matter because, let’s face it; I didn’t do anything at all when you spoke to me about it. Oh that’s right isn’t it? Nobody actually did come to me at any point to address any concerns or issues. But let’s not get into that shall we? Far be it from me to suggest that anyone actually attempts to communicate. Nope, much better to get out the auld torch and pitchfork and have a good old lynching. And so our story leads us to round two. I like to think of this as the burning of the infidels. So, you club together (nice to see you set aside your differences or simply jump on the band wagon) and proceed to do your worst. But wait! They are still at it. I cannot seriously believe my eyes! The evil wrongdoers are at it again. They are now using alts to cheat. The nerve of em! You’d never see anyone else do that. No sir, not on your nelly. Well accept maybe that lad there sitting outside Ravenhold as both him selves at the same time. But actually, that doesn’t matter, cos he is one of us and we are the righteous few. Yes, we shall fight their evil ways by the same token. I have to stop here and ask the question, do two wrongs really make a right? If your concern was about cheating, why is it that it was acceptable for anyone other than Loreroot people to cheat? (and for the record do the exact same thing previous to these events, not even as a reaction to them). For the record, I don’t agree with cheating. I never asked, implied or approved of anyone cheating. I would always tell people that are cheating to stop and more importantly not to do so in the first place. Steps should be taken to stop cheating. I wholeheartedly agree on this. But this was not about cheating. This was about the evil doers in Loreroot cheating. This was, for want of a better word a witch-hunt. Yet another crusade against certain sinners, but not the sin itself. I saw people called names. I saw Rhaegar called a cheat. You may call him hot-headed, a moron, hasty, tactless and perhaps lots of things. But to call him a cheat when he actually hasn’t.... Sorry, in my book that is just wrong. I saw someone called a cheat that amusingly enough has never scored or even help to score a point for Loreroot. I personally feel that I have also been branded as a cheat. I saw someone that was threatened because they used an alt. They were told to stop or face the consequences (which included having their alt named publicly). I saw a threat where a person was told that seeing as Loreroot was a gang of cheaters, and that we were going to get a dose of our own medicine. I’m sorry, but I have really had enough of the self righteous and sanctimonious nonsense that has been flying. The simple truth is that this has not been about cheating. It has been about settling scores and personal grudges. It’s been about one-upmanship and throwing your weight about. If it was truly about cheating then why has this not been properly discussed? I have still yet to hear from anyone what exactly is an acceptable or not acceptable use of an alt in the TC. I have not heard any general discussion or agreement on the practice of taking another lands torch. You have achieved absolutely nothing constructive in this mess. And yes it is a mess. It’s just bred yet more ill will and hurt. Is it not about time that this crap stopped? Is it not about time that instead of flying off the handle at insults (imagined, misinterpreted, real or otherwise) and taking personal issues and grudges to beat people with stops? Is it really really so hard to try to sit down and talk to other people? Is it so hard to identify an issue and try to resolve it without anger and violence and upsetting people? Or is it simply a case that if you have the power (or feel that you have) to do something that you have the right to do so? Are anyone else’s opinions and feelings that unimportant?
-
To anyone that has a Loreroot pass paper. DO NOT sell it until we have a chance to discuss the situation. I will consider anyone selling their pass before any discussion has taken place as equivalent to selling your passport (i.e. your citizenship) and in which case you should not have been given one to begin with. This situation may change, but not until there has been some discussion on the matter first. I request that you please be patient and not do anything hasty.
-
I thought that you can use the back entrance once you have a torch? Regardless, MB is in the worst position. You won't hear any arguments from me on that point. In an odd way you pretty much have a land within your land (underground) and there is no gate between the two (at least nothing that uses more than one ap).
-
Well here is the way that I see it. I agree with Lifeline that the Torch competition is unfair. First up, some lands like golemus are further away as Lifeline has said. Granted they may have to carry a torch further, but from other land's point of view every other land is probably easier to score against, so its less likely for them to have to worry about conceding scores. Secondly, defence. MB and Loreroot in particular have two access points into them. Necrovion and underground have but one. Granted golemus is accessible by two, but again there is the distance factor and one is the maze, which also requires going through other lands like MB and the archives. Underground also falls under this category as its inside MB. MB is easily the worst placed land in this and after that its probably Loreroot and Underground. My next gripe is more personal. Loreroot has recently come under attack for cheating. Whatever about the second and most recent instance, the first time we were accused of cheating for taking up torches in places like MB for Loreroot carriers to take. Now its less than noble and to be quite frank its an exploit. But here is the thing. With perhaps the exception of MB, I am pretty sure (I know for a fact) that other lands have and do use this 'tactic'. I didn't hear them get accused of cheating. In fact I would go so far as to say that any form of cheating that Loreroot has been accused of has also been committed by other lands at some point. And again, didn't hear much about that either. Actually it seems to me that certain people seem to get a pat on the back when they exploit things or people. Yet when others decide to follow their example they get jumped on. If you don’t participate then you seem to just leave yourself at a disadvantage. In short, it seems that people seem to get rewarded (or at least gain the benefits) for exploiting things until they are boxed off and can no longer be used. I have also had complaints from people that they have been harassed and threatened by certain individuals. Now, the big thing for me is that I don't see this as right or necessary. I would like to think that I'm a reasonable person and I'm willing to listen to people. I did not tell anyone to cheat and I did not know it was happening. But I will state here quite clearly that I do not agree with it and would ask anyone engaged in such practices to stop. However, don't dare point fingers at Loreroot, or indeed any other land singularly and make accusations, when not tackling or acknowledging that it is going on elsewhere. I will not stand idly by while citizens of my land are the subject of personal attacks, threats and in my opinion, bullying. I do not understand why people cannot come to me and at least attempt to discuss this or any other situation before taking it upon themselves to sort it out. I find it unreasonable and I find the singular pointing at Loreroot to be unreasonable too. Its just back to the good old fashioned blame game and not being in any way constructive or helpful. The Torch competition is flawed and so are those people that participate (if you happen to be perfect do let me know, because I'd be interested to know how and why that is) and therefore there are inevitably going to be problems. Screaming at people, calling people names and harassing them is not actually going to fix anything. My suggestion would be that people discuss the matter and agree on what is and is not allowed. There is way too much emphasis it seems on game mechanics in MD. There seems to be this overriding belief that because its possible to do something that its allowed. Personally I don't see why this is or has to be so. I mean in a game of football I could walk out and shoot all eleven opposing players, stick the ball in the back of the opposing team's goal and say that I had just won by a goal to nil. Oddly enough I have not heard or seen that happen (its an extreme example, there is no need to decide to point out that it is against the rules of football (although I'd wager there is nothing in the rulebook about shooting all the opposing team in the kneecaps) ). One suggestion that I would have is to at least move the torch locations and also the scoring points to more equal points. I had thought of something like a pole at each land gate. That way new people could pick up torches for lands that they cannot actually enter. But this leaves problems for places like underground. Although in all honesty, short of constructing an actual 'arena' I'm not sure how that would work much better than the current setup. Another option I can think of is to allow citizens of each land access to the relevant land so that they can actually pick up the torch from there. Perhaps this could only last for the torch contest duration? Perhaps even go further again and bar access to lands you are not a citizen of unless you carry a torch. This last suggestion though may cause problems with quests and generally just annoy people.
