Create Ritual without being in a location with players
Chewett replied to Fire Starter's topic in New Ideas
I see a more reasonable change to be able to create att/def rituals without the need to have available targets within sight, but I want to hear the cons for that.Sorry Fyrd, if you think this is spam I will remove it.

Con: so you can socialize. So you can go out of the box you hide in (so players may not be able to attack you). Also, the forum has a feature called Search. If you use it, you'll find at least 1 topic discussing this issue.I believe there's 3 or 4 actually - Grido
To spam the topic, There is a a LOT of topics discussing the idea, and if i remember correctly it is something mur has talked about before, and said it wont be changing. However that was a longer time ago, But i guess it also fits the same theme "no pms to everyone", But i guess you would be against that also? -
yeah... its not something on our side, its something todo with your computer. antivirus, update XP to the latest updates, possibly re install but i do think that its always a monmentual task reinstalling the OS if you havent prepared for it.

How To Export Transparent Gif (Avy)
Chewett replied to wizard of heaven's topic in MD Artworks (former Artisans Guild)
This topic uses open source alternatives... mostly http://magicduel.invisionzone.com/topic/9102-avatar-tutorial-for-windows/ -
Hmm, thats very intresting, I use a similar configeration on my comptuer as does 50% of MD judging from the stats on the forum. Does anyone else experiance errors such as this? If you experience errors with all three browsers, then its most likely an error with the OS or internet capability, since the rendering engines for those browsers differ. Is there any times when it happens more, or less. Does it happen on any other websites?
-
the code looks like the direct transfer of the infomation of the page, As you can see the HTTP header at the top, which isnt normally shown to you, since its more for the browser to do things with. Since iv never seen something like this happen, im guessing you are using a funny combination of browser/operating system? Whats your OS and Browser?
-
and then you just get more reports of people saying certain things didnt appear? the logs use popups, and many rubbish browsers (google chrome) give a very small icon saying you got a popup and it blocked it! Surely you just get issues with popup blockers then?

Happy Birthday, Sharazhad!
Chewett replied to nadrolski's topic in Say hello, Goodbye, or something else
Have a very good birthday -
Yeah,i will update the topic when we update the gallery. Hopefully it should be fixed when we have the new gallery.
-
ah, i did not know that you could select gallery images as your photo, since i have never uploaded images to the gallery. I have approved the forum photoes, i shall also be doing some tests for the gallery, to try and see what is happening. One likely issue is that the gallery part of the forum has not been recently updated, and has been pretty buggy on the moderation side, So i guess this is probably another point where its a bit dodgey. I have been talking with the council peoples to try and get an upgrade, which hopefully should be worked out sometime soon.

When changing A avatar or photo picture normally the old one will be cached, so althought it says it has uploaded the image, it will appear not to have changed, Clearing the cache and checking can sometimes fix issues. In regards to getting that error, its only for specific pictures? Im not sure what you mean by "But changing it among other images for diversity is giving that error."

send me a forum pm with the image you are trying to upload, im having no issue with uploading some i tested.

Petition for closing the Angiens Shrine
Chewett replied to emerald arcanix's topic in The Seekers of Enlightenment
I had to think a little bit before reacting to that breaking news. I think I am ready now. Sorry for the long post coming, but it is a complex issue that is raised here.___________________________________Preliminary note 1: I respect the decision whatever it is. However it must respect the Realm rules. In that regard, I understand that the Queen of Marind Bell has authority over the land of Marind Bell (including Angien shrine), but no authority over the Angiens themselves. I think the petition respects that, but we must carefully monitor things as they may evolve._________________________I understand SoE were created to make research about Angiens and to worship them. The AL also states that Angiens may help understand shades better.I am not old enough to know what happened since the discovery of the Angiens and the creation of SoE. I would love to be corrected if I am wrong, but what I feel after that petition is that SoE failed. This alliance did not manage to make Angiens respected. And as a consequence of their failure they decide that Angiens and their shrine shall not be visible anymore to anyone. It is one way to solve the problem. There might be other ways. And this part of the petition concerns me a bit:I understand that SoE wants to gain respect by holding a "treasure" that is impossible to reach. I also understand that MB is using Angiens (by limiting access to their shrine) in a greedy way to get more strength. That makes me wonder about the Seekers of Enlightment and Marind's Bell. Are you seeking enlightment for yourself or to light the world by providing knowledge and diffusing positive values learned from Angiens? I think to "Spread The Word of Angiens" was a better way to achieve your purpose. A difficult one, granted. You are chosing the easy one that is to make "something" (if I may call Angiens "something") rare and inaccessible to give it a value. To me Angiens should not have a value because they are rare, but for what they represent. And I was expecting SoE to teach the world about what they represent.I hope I understand wrong.
You confuse us with doing this, As have many, so its nothing to be ashamed of. The petition was not done officially by the Seekers. It was done by one members of it, and i along with other members support it. Emerald produced the petition, so in essence it is his. We did not formulate it as an alliance, But it is his forward and wishful thinking. The queen also supports it, So again, We may support it as individuals who are part of SoE, but there is no alliance wide agreement to support it. There has not been any discussion inside the alliance, to officially support it. Nor has there been any point whereby we have offically said that we do support it. So please stop associating the alliance SoE with this petition. As for our goals, That description was written before most of the current players were alive. I believe thusly, it should be treated with a pinch of salt since the alliance has changed a lot since then. -
Petition for closing the Angiens Shrine
Chewett replied to emerald arcanix's topic in The Seekers of Enlightenment
Yep....This "petititon" should have been put on a vote or something, because it sin t right. It s an abuse of power really
The queen of the land has full and total control over it, Tis the same in all lands, The Shrine is closed at the moment because it seemed like also Mur agreed, even in part to what the petition says. From the little iv read of the meeting a couple days ago, Mur makes it clear that angiens are different in regards to other creatures. -

I can only find this announcement Ann. 1257 - [2010-01-10 00:12:55 - Alpha 9] Inventory items can no longer be given to people that are not in the same location as you are. So, it might be indeed be intented since it doesnt say either.
-
With them not being online, i guess it only checks on location, so thats a bug. As for transfering to alts, Mur has stated that its allowed and isnt a bug, But most will frown on transferring items and coins across from alt to main.

The Seekers officially reside in Marind Bell. So as such they are a part of Marind Bell. But, They are a more neutral guild and less affiliated with Marind Bell than most land alliances. As researchers we must try and keep our neutrality to make sure we do not sully the research with biased land based points of view. We do not demand members are loyal to the land, but that they merely must respect the land rules and monarch as a leader, if not their leader. This allows people from other lands to Join SoE once permission has been gained from their monarch, as a temporary or permanent position. Any appliactions from people outside Marind Bell will need to be dealt with differently, so if you apply please make sure you mention this at the start of the process.

Not sure what it is, But SOAP stands for "simple Object Access Protocol" Which i guess is something we are not meant to be using. As for "Terror" not being allowed, i think you will find its a quirk of the word "error" whenever its output in content view it shows the error text in red at the top... Looks like a bug to me.

Types of sale threads, Auctions vs Offers
Chewett replied to Rumi's topic in Market debate and related topics
Yeah, Until there is a rule whereby removing your bid isnt allowed, people will still be allowed to do so, However if certain people want to impose such rules, its entirely up to them. There are some people for me, who i just wouldnt trade with, because i have seen they like to scam people, Im not going to try and impose that rule on everyone. Similarly if someone removes their bid in one of my sales, i wouldnt let them bid again in that sale. -
If you meet the conditions for a burst when you open the page, and then when you click it, you dont have the right conditions, it will display that message.

I believe curiouse stated she wanted any issues with the current event, as this is a trial, i am merely stating an issue that i have with the current plan, in a hope to try and make the eventual Kings council function easier for

And there is no plan to offer other times? For if they are always at the same time then i will never be able to go see them.
Would it be considered adding fuel to the fire, if I, in a very 'ironic' or 'negatively criticising' manner of speaking, were to say that this kind of topic has been brought up a couple of times before?
Obviously someone felt it would be, considering you rep you had for it. As in every online game, some players have additional roles that facilitate the game's running. As to how they got the role? Hard work, perseverance, luck? Roles like this are for example my Job and previously the Game manager. Those were offical roles that were given because there was a need for someone to be doing said work. I become forum admin from being a moderator, and Mur picking me out of the several moderators we had there. Then you have "Veterns" People who dont nesscarily have any offical power, but do hold a lot of sway because of what they have done. You can spend years trying to catagorize how much "power" or "influence" someone has in MD because everyone will value something differently. Some may say that Innocences Roleplay is superior to all of Clock Masters Skills, and therefore he is "better" But unlike combat stats, there isnt a number to compare. Since i havent really seen or interacted with you Sharpwind, im a little nonplussed from where you are coming from. If you are thinking that you can do and change things just by wanting them, you are sorely mistaken. It takes a lot of effort. A very good example would be the Dojo and Awiiya. The Dojo had a scene, a drawing and even the ability to ban people for misbehaving. But because they didnt keep trying to work for the idea, it slowly petered out along with the Dojo. Awiiya on the other hand has become part of the scenery... Literally. Good work normally gets results. So yeah, i will repeat my first point, Got some examples we can have a look at? Recently i thought actually it was a little better and normally people were quite friendly to point out it existed here or there. And with the forum there is a magic button called "search" which will normally find most topics relating to your keywords.

Have you got some examples?
