Science changes all the time, assuming it is correct just ignores where it comes from. Scientific measurements come from our physical experiences, we make machines that measure in a certain way, built in a certain way to achieve a certain result. Science, along with your argument, depends on the majority rules dictum - which is hardly evidence of objectivity. I don't really know what you are talking about when you say 'pure abstracts' - something that has absolutely no link or pointer to or in the physical world in any way what-so-ever? I never mentionned anything like that. If you are talking about the flaw in the tautological statement, that all language is based on experience anyway, then this falls into the Green or Red area again and I refer you to the above. I never said you couldn't define things using language, I said you can't do it in a way that is totally devoid of interpretation. No meaning is universally accepted, as I explained to you about the Chair. If definition is in question and your answer is to use language to solve this, you fall again into tautology and endless regress. The point that you sat on something is irrelivant here, I am talking about one single word - Chair, not a sentance. Chair isn't the verb to sit nor does this word hold a verb in it. Maybe it is better I pick a word for you that has no obvious attached function instead. A stone. If I say stone, and I do not point you to any particular stone, then to what do I refer? Is it some conglomerate of stone experiences? What is stoneness? Z

Firstly, in this case I'm not taking language in the broader sense. I am literally talking about words - due to where the conversation originated. To be specific, a word, a series of sounds and/or symbols grouped together to form something that is used to try to express something or gesture to something. So a question - what is the difference between the sound of words and the sound of music? Or the picture of a man and the word man?
I would challenge you to express a purely abstract, conceptual matter that can in no way be tied to objective or even physical entities. Even infinity can be imagined within the physical world. Stand between two mirrors.
You seem to think a physical entity is objective for some reason. I'd like to ask how? Kafuuka has already mentionned some of the issues inherent here. The old you see red I see green argument for one. You also just refuted your own argument by using the word 'imagined', of course you can imagine infinity - but you can't ever experience it, because it has no start nor end, how then to know you are experiencing infinity? Are you suggesting imagination is a physical entity? Incidentally, how would you expect me to express a purely abstract conceptual matter when my claim is that this is impossible through language? This should be my challenge to you, not the other way around. When I say tied to I mean in the sense that infinity, perhaps you can see things that make you think of the concept but you cannot see the concept itself, there is no physical tie (the hole in the pretzel) but with a word like Chair, you can definitely say there is a physical tie to the word. If I take a noun like 'Chair' you might instantly assume you know what a chair is and that when you say the word chair everyone knows what you are talking about - yet you yourself with your pretzels without holes showed how easy it is for a mismatch. Chair could mean just anything you sit on, it could mean something with a back and four legs, it could mean many things. I could talk about my chair and you would think it was the 'average' chair you have come to associate with the word, but my 'average' chair is different. Z

(Mali...based on title descript...a priori=cher, get it? little Philo student joke for you) One of the arguments on this theory (Spinoza stylie):- - Language is a series of words based on generally accepted meanings - Generally accepted meanings are two fold, either based on experience or a conceptual basis - Experiencial meanings are subject to the matter of physical interpretations - Conceptual meanings are subject to a lack of physical tie - A lack of physical tie means they can only be described, drawn, played etc - A lack of physical tie therefore makes language a tautology in a human system when it comes to conceptual matters (big flaw here, lets pick at it.) away from that: "Surely two intelligent individuals can exchange information using language and avoid some manner or even all manner of interpretation." - how? Z
-
Just to elaborate...I'm not freaked out because 81 is in MD and the tribunal, and the folding balance holds no majesty for me - which is no offense to Mur he should already know my likely thoughts on that by now. My response was due to a personal issue where a friend of mine recently went to see a witch in Rome who told her certain things which this particular thread miraculously has linked directly into. On a more on topic basis...before I get dstized or chewed up etc....81 is also related to the 9x9 magic square and it is a self-cancelling number, you might call it the quark of the numeric system. Z

Option 1 I like best, because it rewards for exactly what you want to award for - foundation support. Low level support is already rewarded via the shop imo. Option 2 means anyone can get involved, but it also lacks the pull to invest unless you put in at least one really major thing each time. Option 3 I don't like at all, it is too...messy, and basically I think it will just turn into a glorified second standard shop, nothing particularly special about it in the end. I agree with Luc, I would prefer it isn't a visible list of numbers and players etc etc as I can see that just causing even more ranting and jealousy. I like that tickets can be traded, cool idea, great for yet another option for quest rewards when we nomads have no direct wp options (yes we can ask kings, but I'm sure everyone knows what I mean here). To gain a higher income any of these will work pending on what rewards you place and how - potentially that's really the hard part. What is up for reward, not how to reward it. If the items arn't special enough, it isn't enticing, but to keep them special they have to remain rare...but by giving them out you drop that rarity. I'm sure this is already being taken into account, and of course this matter doesn't come into the mix if it is literally just to reward those already supporting rather than to also add extra income. Z

You just freaked me out...quite a lot with that. Thanks (thats not sarcasm by the way lol). Z

How long until you feel better after you move away from the mould: Ones I know mostly it didnt take long, instant feeling of betterness within the week and then full recovery more gradual from there. Rare cases - you end up with asthma or some sort of allergy as a permanent scar. Side note: - You can sue your landlord if there is permanent damage as it is a condensation issue, which is down to the structure of the house, of course if you wanted down that road then you better see a doctor, take pictures, bla bla bla. Sometimes if I have something I'm finding a pain, I go looking for a mechanism for change that will help me. Recently I found I couldn't get up in the morning, no matter how much I tried I was always tired. I went looking and found many answers, but one I found really useful: Before you sleep, imagine you'll never wake up, and when you wake up, wake up before your world, alive and remembering. Maybe you think that is nothing, that it is obvious and simple - but to me it is like finding the answer to a koan. Sometimes the best things, the ones that stay with me, are only a sentance long. So I wondered if anyone else does this, and if any of these sorts of things have helped with something and they might want to share? Z

I'm glad to have an LHO like DST, who doesnt just give out any old information. Who can spot someone trying to cheat at heads due to their own ignorance. Who gives a damn. I find this pissy little PM situation from Blacknights really offensive. A new player who tries to trick the system, gets caught and then has a go at the one telling them to stop. This sentance "hehe quit your job will be better for newbie" I find particularly offensive. Indyra has explained exactly the point. Despite that I am incensed and can't hold my tongue on it. I love noobies. I love them because they are full of energy and enthousiasm and questions, but I HATE noobies like this. You are the reason the term "noobie" has a bad connotation to it. I had a similar situation with someone called wolfs who hadnt a clue what they were talking about but felt the need to slander me anyway. Usually I try SO hard to remain as neutal as possible on all matters, to try to think of all the points, but I've lost it here. Had enough. MD is a fantastic place with amazing people who give up their time to make sure you have the most fulfilling time possible, and you spit at them. Then you are surprised they spit back? well dont be. As for Sparrhawk, yea I kinda get what he is saying here. I'm pretty sure you guys get what he is saying too. If I get paid for laying bricks and someone else doesn't, it doesnt make the one who doesnt get paid a better brick layer - but you can see why someone might be more likely to give them a spare fiver than the other bloke. Z

I'm so sorry for your loss. When you are lost, hold out a hand to the people who lift you up, whoever they are - even if you know you are too heavy. We'll all be here. Z

The waves were crashing, pounding against the cliffs-- angry as if demanding the walls to fall into its body, hungry and consuming. Above, staring at those waves, was a figure peering superiorly down upon those waves, perhaps thinking to itself. After all, who can resist that sweet caress of the wind, cooing violently against your skin, pulling spirit from salt and leaving you layered. I always wondered when I looked up there, gazed up at those cliffs, if I had other eyes, would that figure seem surrounded by endless particles, spots of escape? I was never granted the leisure of those thoughts for long though, no matter how many times it appeared. If you were lucky enough to glimpse it, you could only potter in your own mind for a split second before you would feel something boring into you, and it would distract you from whatever you were thinking of in an instant. Like someone tipping acid onto your foot when you were just about to say something offensive. Smart move. You'd find yourself waking up in a daze on the ground, scrabbling to your feet, you would stare up at the cliff again as the vague memory of what you were doing before drove your body, but there would be nothing there. I had done this dance so many times I knew it like I know eating chips without Mayo makes me wince. It's the texture. A switch is flicked, your ears at first prick up at the sudden inrush of current almost as if you hadn't expected it, almost, your physicality defies you, but soon it calms recognising the familiarity. He appears in your sight. You take a moment, the scenery is that same place you've been in each time, wooden floor, people, smart. You stand terified, a novice despite your frequent attendance, as you take the hand and ready the stance. You were selected to be opposite, and it would defy convention not to be, no matter how aggravating that is for the divergant. He takes your interest, and uses it. The lock is formed. Here, in this room, your movements are not fluid, bedmates lost in the ether stepping on each other's toes. On the shore, at the cliff we may not move, but it is no different. I had tried hiding, I had been found. Running wasn't even an option. I had tried fighting, I had lost. Not trying wasn't even an option. I had tried calling out, but the outcome was never to my liking. Silence wasn't an option either. That nausia, the damage I contracted each time I dropped, the utter and absolute plexus soaking terror, it was nothing compared to my longing. It was nothing compared to his vision. It was nothing. So here we were again, he and I. Standing so far apart, yet so close we might not even be distinct. I had tried in the past to walk that path that leads to his destination. To see that flickering right next to me. The walk was long, my thighs ached, and no reward was ever found. Just grass and rocks and the view. In winter, the sea froze over. I had been told by others that this phenomenon was remarkable, but it seems so mundane to me, so usual. I thought them mad, they thought me the same. This moment, the now, I fought off the sickness. I battled and stared wide eyed, not an easy task by far. This moment, I slid over the ice. I slid across it, in fluid motion mimicing the fluid beneath, until I reached the edge. The cliff stood above me, and it glared down mockingly with a jagged smirk. My skill from the dance between he and I was not wasted, it kept me from failing despite his ever-present gaze. I scaled the cliff. Inch by inch I progressed. Cut by cut I rose higher. When I reached the peak, he was still there. It was not a lost attempt this time, I had reached him. So close, the feelings that stare enduced pulsed like fear across all of me. Beat me senseless. After all my work, after all my climbing and staring, after my battle and my endurance, I peaked the cliff and the being...it never changed. For a moment, I was a god. That moment was a lifetime and a second. Controlled and emmaciated by sensation, a gust of wind drew my fingers from their grasp. The being remained as it always had been, no change as I descended. Such a blow to the body to be liquidised, and as I seeped out, a soothing sensation mixed with the icey surface, a buffer flitted beneath. That spotted spirit I had craved the view of, was not a sight, but an experience. It was beautiful.

1) To have a fire poll or a slide from the top floor of my house to the bottom Yes - Its only a matter of money. No - Pricey and makes re-selling nigh on impossible. Why - Speed, fun, flash. 2) To live the mundane as a musical Yes - I've been seen dancing in supermarkets and singing in HMV. Its very possible. No - People will get out the straight jacket, and having a tantrum on the floor causes disruption. Why - Letting loose that impulse. 3) To see people I love more Yes - All it takes is a bit of action. No - The more they see me, the more they see that snap in me, maybe they'll love me less. I'm horridly lazy also, and money. Why - I miss them. Z

Ravenstrider's Wall
(Zl-eye-f)-nea replied to Ravenstrider's topic in MD Artworks (former Artisans Guild)
I really like that first one. Nice work dude. Z -
Just an FYI from the one who set that referrence... - It wasn't a drach it was a wind dragon I bought (thats quite an important difference...) - I would never have paid that amount if I didn't know the money was going back into MD in this case. I don't know about the other bidders. As you haven't stated either way about the paypal, I wouldn't bid any high amount at all on it...let alone for in or around $95. Z

I have to agree with Kafuuka. In additon to what he has said this very much feels like an appeal to the lowest commun denominator. If you can't even be bothered to make trades and take risks based on your own analysis of someone, then I'm not even sure you should have the items at all - and that goes double for the king comment. I'd also say, that imo this is a form of magic. An item so tied to you it comes back, and I wonder whether you have an inner magic formula made up for this process? Probably not as it looks like you are just looking at it as a machanical way to make your life easier...but that's the only aspect about the suggestion that I find of interest. Z

Clearly I am missing what the fuss is about...what is the problem with alts having the abilities the wps grant you? So alts can cast spells and edit things...what is the issue with that? This should only be afforded to very few people should it? Z

For the sake of argument.... The last auctions were based on coins, silver and gold. Silver and gold were gained via shop credits. The difference being that in this case there is no guarantee you win with the highest bid, there is no limit on individual amount to be purchased, and that you can acquire coins despite a lack of personal financial input. However silver and gold were none the less gained via shop credits originally, meaning each one did in effect have a financial input. I'm not saying it is right or wrong, I'm just mentionning it as I'd like to see what the arguably huge differnce is to cause outrage with one and excitement for the other. Z
