A 5 month delay is pretty massive. Could you do me a favour and let us know how far you have gotten? What is still missing? etc? Awi has already done September, October I already did and Awii already did, so have we gotten anywhere with the last 2 months in the last 5? Z

Ok, in that case, I have just spent the last 5 hours merging mine and Awiiya's October information. Obviously when I send it in the word doc it is properly formatted - but I wasnt about to spend another hour formatting a forum post (italics aside). I have put some links in there too where possible. [log=Calendar for October] OCTOBER 1 – DAY OF MEDITATION • Ancient Macedonia: Celebration of Alexander the Great’s defeat of Darius III • Aztec: Celebration of Coatlicue. • Ancient Rome: Celebration of Fides. Fides is the Roman Goddess of fidelity, good faith and honesty. She oversees moral integrity. ~~~~ • AL: The Shade balance – After many debates, Renavoid decides there cannot be a treaty between alliances until they learn to work together properly. Yes, Fire Starter - as long as you can show me evidence that it is a real festival then I will do my best to incorporate it (I say do my best rather than just 'will' just in case there is a day with like 10 festivals on it lol) Support very much appreciated Aster. This is great guys, keep going. Awiiya has done work on Sept and Oct too, so it is mainly November and December that need the major work. I think BFH did a week in Nov? Trying to find out. How would you feel if I post up completed months for comment/additions/just so everyone can see what is being done? Separate thread or here for that? Z
-
I do not want to step on anyone's toes, but Aysun started this and now after months of inactivity on it her original thread is closed. I do not know what Aysun did or didn't submit, what she did or didn't acquire - but I intend to complete what has been left unfinished. Aysun - if you want to contact me to get this finished, please do so...as I have stated to you previously. If you can head it up again, all the better. Everyone else - this is everyone's project, I'm just making this thread for the sake of saying what I intend and hopefully then anyone with input can contact me just so we have a hub. I don't know about anyone else but I want to see it finished, and someone has to get off their butt and make it happen, so it might as well be me. Lets do it. I've already finished October. Anyone with input on Sept, Nov and Dec send me the shizzle. Hopefully we can finally get it done. I know people have been trying to do this for a long time, but please don't give up hope, we will get it sorted as a big ol MD team - I'm not going anywhere, and I will make sure it gets submitted in full - unless Aysun appears to take hold of the project again, which I hope she does. I play the Ocarina. Mine is very small, more akin (but smaller than) to this one:Small Ocarina I grew up learning tin whistle, so it wasn't very difficult to learn for me - and I like high pitches. The small stature means I can carry it on a leather thong and play whenever I feel like it. The deeper tones of the larger versions are very nice though. Once you have the basics, adding in the embelishments is the most fun. Z
To me, the arguing came very late. Yes.
There is no point spoiling a basic bit of enjoyment imo, not to mention the uproar that comes with that. It is only worth making something a serious issue if it is having a detrimental effect on the basis of things. The memorial in this instance would appear to have that effect based on the logic I stated previously, the story itself didnt reach such a level imo as it was first and foremost a quest based story, and that was it. Im all for memorials in general. Z [ed: and just to add an offtopicish thought as an example of something: If we know in MD that places you can go can actually be entered, then why do we act as if this isn't the case with certain things and then get surprised when someone says what we already should know? Some cannot enter the oak tower in Loreroot, but it can be entered, how odd it would be to see people roleplaying being inside it when they are not]
It means that if none of this had happened I would continue to appreciate what is written and think about them and how them happened, while the fossils and otheres that know the facts better remain quiet, silent and dumb. Saying for some questions I ask that the answer is secret while others questions are politely ignored?
I don't think anyone remains quiet silent and dumb. Quite clearly not or you would have nothing to be arguing with right now and nobody would be answering you. Also, what Chewett said.
And while the quest was going on because no one argued the action was wrong act, and remained silent until now? Why did not try to correct the mistake while it was in process?
Actually some of us did comment on that fact, just not on the forum and not making a big fuss about it - what would you rather? Being forced out of doing something fun you enjoy just because it isn't factually accurate? Z
-
I'd say its more...Ren has been memorialised before. The space between then and now is filled with this PAL he did - which as Akasha says has no bearing on any valid MD stuff but is just a made up story. Hence it detracts from the reality of the accurate things one might find, and hailing him once again after such a thing is almost to hail the thing itself considering the previous memorial in sted. I've seen people with the best reputations here knowingly and purposefully run a mass RP event right on top of an event they know for a fact was about to happen, while in talks with the people who would run said event, and without mentionning what they were about to do. Now that is discourteous. This? Annoying? probably, but I doubt it was done on purpose to irk you. Story night might be at the forefront of your mind, because you run it, but it isn't constantly publicised, if it were I would know what the next date is for example...which I don't, I'd have to go dig through the forum for it - that's if it even popped into my head at all. If it were being publicised loudly at the time and someone then out-ran, that is one thing, but that isn't the situation here (there is no current status update, no current mood panel update, no news box, and no recently updated forum thread). Incidentally nobody said hey I demand you move your time, I think the words were "The time of this event can not be moved or waivered due to trying to make availability for the kings and players who knew Ren well. If this interferes with story time my apologies and perhaps it can be moved a little to work with this schedule." Z
I'm merely checking if I have the same definition of discussion as everyone else have, since I'm being used as an example to say people should be discussing, when I thought that was exactly what I'm doing.
I never actually said you weren't having a discussion so I'm not sure if you just don't understand my sentance structure or...well I won't go there. As it has been glossed over in your retort let me say it again in another way for you: I said people should be discussing with the people who actually matter, as in on the topic of how to help them, which we arn't, instead said people are being told what will help them and then when they oppose it being told that their opinion lacks validity. We are discussing on Burn's topic. The topic of a suggested 'percentage of MP5 supported' implimentation, the reason for which has changed many times now during this discussion. We are not discussing directly with newer players as to what could be done to make MD a more hospitible environment for them, what issues they do have that are getting up their noses and what their feelings about the dreaded MP5 are and why, and then with that knowledge trying to find a solution. We are discussing in a fashion which lacks any inherant value for the purpose for which the discussion was started, unless of course the purpose is not what it was stated as, and seeing as the purpose has changed more times than a babies diapers maybe there isn't one anyway.
I'm quoting it again since it seems that my statement didn't come through clearly. I said it is just an illusion when people think all mp5 want is for mp3/4 to move up so they can pound them down. To which you said you think they're right and you've done testing on it. How do you do tests on that? Give a questionnaire to mp5 about what they want? Observing and trying to read their minds? I don't think that's what you mean, so of course I think you were talking about something else here? I'm not saying that all their opinions are just deluded illusions, but I do think that the whole sentiment of "let's not go to mp5, everyone there is just a monster waiting for us to click the wrong button "advance to mp5" so they can eat us up" is just an illusion. One that is constantly reinforced by people keep that keeps saying mp5 is a hell that fresh mp5s will never ever be able to survive and going there is the end of your character's career, thus leading to the thought that if people are trying to suggest something, it is just so they can get new food.
Your statement came through perfectly clearly, and what I said still stands. In fact, now you are negating you own arguments. You yourself claim that your 'testing' shows the opposite to mine, well if I can't do testing then nor can you. Of course we can't know what all MP5 want inherently, that is ridiculous, so how does such a statement come to be do you think? What reinforces it? Come on. This constant twisting of the issue only makes people even less enamoured with MP5, or as I'm going to start calling it soon, spin city 5. What is the point of the relevent group discussing with MP5 veterens at all if all that happens is they get told they are wrong by a group of people who arn't actually experiencing the situation they are talking about. Whats the point? Would you listen to people doing that to you?
You cant chastise someone for not knowing something lol. The bigger issue is then that these mp3/4's are being taught to not go to mp5, and specially train certain things up without learning why. Which is something i would say is encouraged by some mp4'sThe whole learning process is screwed up when people sit in the dojo complaining about each and every loss, while being told what to train and not learning about the rits. This is much more important than preventing alts.ANY mp4 can survive at mp5 whatever the stats/crits as long as they have the basics of ritual making, including some decent "ve protecting, crit protecting" rits.
The latter might be the factual case, but clearly not knowing how to do this negates the usefulness of that case...and falls into the irony category, see further down. I also think that in general people will of course ask what are the best ways to do things, in any game, and will try to take shortcuts to success. It sort of goes back to what Kaf said in post #27: "Seriously, who is it that tells us that mp5 is hard? Who is it that posts here that mp4 and mp3 is being abused by alts using whatever means" and later in another post "who is giving this people those tips? I don't, none of the real mp3s or mp4s could" It again goes back to an attitude change from the Mp5s as a solution.
Absolutely. No need to drag the same issue down to MP3 and 4, too, is there? And there are far, far too many 'monsters' who were created solely for the purpose of showing off with their monsters. And if you annoy the wrong persons, they bring them out, just for the sake of hurting you. Or, in some cases, just because the can, with no reason whatsoever.
There is also no need to penalise the MP3 and 4 when the issue clearly lies at MP5. It is filtering down, not up. Penalise yourselves. Monsters at low levels arnt actually the issue. MP5 is the issue. The sheer amount of forum posts regarding the MP5 situation also supports this. As I said, if you can show me the evidence for the poor newbies leaving because of these monsters it would be a start, and if that tiny population is the issue at all and it is alt abuse causing it, then we should start penalising the people who do it, not penalise all of mp3 and 4. Start a forum thread and name and shame them - but if this is a money or a skill issue, or if it isnt actually MP3s and 4s who have the issue, I won't accept it...and then there is the irony Kafuuka has mentionned:
Ironically, if we take the same argument but substitute mp3 for mp4 and mp5, they can survive against the horrors which Burns wants to protect them against.Let me put it this way: there is no mp4 conspiracy to make mp5 suck more. I would start one, if there were a need for it, but it seems to me mp5 are already doing good enough a job by themselves. Just take a look around: messages on the mood panel like 'please level up faster and become my punchbags' or private logs stating 'you're too weak to be mp5, go back to mp4' etc. Don't tell me those were ironic statements by those people.
Z
Its huge age requirement strikes me as meaning that a maxed one is a creature you're gonna have at a later stage of your gameplay
It strikes you as is fine. Its "supposed to"? not fine. It strikes 'me' as an age requirement...and that's it. What you choose to do about that age requirement is up to you.
I'm listening to what he's saying, and I haven't thrown a single rep in this thread yet. I'm giving my opinion (that's discussion I believe, exchanging opinions) that his thought that
Sorry if you feel this was personal, it wasn't, it was a general statement using your quote as an example. Of course the general statement itself did include you, but you seem to have taken it as if it was just meant as a dig at you an nobody else - it was meant for a vast number of people, not just you. I am aware of what a debate is, but thanks for defining it partially for me just in case I wasn't, I will add your referrence to the front of my dictionary for future reference just in case I ever lose the page. Alas, the issue here is that the people commenting from the world that it actually matters to and will affect negatively as well as possibly positively (rather than just positively which is how it will affect MP5) are being argued with that their opinion is not valid enough - which makes no sense seeing as they are the ones that matter here. What I said about your definition of these "illusions" still stands. Quoting it again makes no odds to what I said on the matter. How is it an illusion? because the players themselves arn't MP5 and can't comment therefore? Well by the same token this entire thread is obsolete then as you are not experiencing MP3 or 4 as a new player and never can again. The difference being that you made an alt or that you experienced it at a different time? At a different time is irrelivant. Made an alt is also irrelivant. Veteren players cannot comment definitively as a personal line on this. I can't, you can't, only their comments matter. I can say I tested and found their comments correct, you can say opposite, but if they themselves as players are saying something is one way then we should listen and work with that instead of pushing veteran docterine down their throats.
What would you say exatly the fear is? because if its of "being attacked" then you surely havent learnt how to make rits...
Then they haven't learned to make rits and that is an issue, not something to chastise them for. Not that you necessarily are here, but I know many Mp5s who do - and it isn't very helpful to the situation. If they can't make rits to your veteran standards then they can't. If a majority can't then arn't we seeing something else amiss?
I don't want those creatures to be accessible to MP3 and MP4 because there are other players who might enjoy the game in all its aspects, also fighting, who stop after a few days because the general message of fighting such rituals is the following: To stand a good ground on NEWBIE level, i need to invest about 60 bucks now AND wait for 2 months. For the WEAKEST of the THREE levels of combat.
Giving someone something useful and then taking it away from them is the simplest psychological method of warfare to make people feel disheartened and leave. Allowing them to achieve that thing again by working for it again after they already had it makes no odds. Retrospectively downgrading creatures will have this effect. In addition, wihout high VE in place the theory of "any player can beat any player" still stands as far as I know. With what you just said here, not only are you suggesting a change to the entire MP levelling system, but also now a change to the WP and shop system. It also won't change the fact that the suggested implimentation will not help keep new people....unless...unless you are telling me that you have evidencial proof from new players that they leave because at lower levels they are being attacked constantly by insane rits they don't feel they have a hope of hell in beating and that they can never beat anyone else at their level...no wait...isn't that is what is being said constantly about MP5? I thought the point was to try to change the system to help new players. As I said in Kaf's thread, this idea will not do that based on the argument that is being fought against - that being alts with high level creatures, or high level creatures at all at low levels.
Read my words: I DON'T CARE .
Well seeing as that isn't even my point let alone my quote you are responding to...nor do I
The problem is that you have to raise him to your lvl to make him understand. Otherwise he does not (want to ) understand.
Or perhaps it is us who need to understand them, not the other way around.
extreme stats are NOT NORMAL
But this thread isn't about extreme stats. It is about high level creatures and alt abuse. It is, in theory, about a particular suggestion which intends to help keep players. Is it that you think that this suggestion will also help protect against extreme stats at low levels? If so could you please elaborate (explain how)?
Maybe finding a 50-60 days old mp5 and asking them for their opinion? Same goes for mp3 and mp4... (cut)..And I don't believe you can meet ..(Z edit: the monsters).. that often in the open...(cut)
agreed. Z
The first one, I don't think will object much to the proposed requirements,
They already have, multiple times, both in this thread and others.
And no, people are not supposed to wait for their angiens to have max age before going mp5..
Of course people want to age their crits before levelling. If you were new now, I'm sure you would too. All this "supposed to" and "not supposed to" is making my head hurt. The newer players who do talk oppose what is being suggested for them and when they do they get told they are wrong...but its for them right? so....surely their statements are pretty important? Actually arn't their statements the most important? Or are we in Plato's republic? Look at HeHelpedMe here, getting negged for not understanding. Ridiculous. He is one of the only lower AD lower MP people giving comment. He should be listened to and discussed with. His opinion is more valuable because he is actually in the group that is supposedly trying to be helped. If you actually want to help, work with people like him, he is the target population supposedly being supported by this initiative and he opposes it.
I think lately there has been to many illusions of "mp5s/vets only wanting to get more people to move up so they can pound them". The thing is, staying mp3/mp4 for eternity won't help people prepare to fight the "vets". People at mp5 has access to much faster stat growth than an mp3/4 can ever hope for, so the longer people stay there, the wider the gap between power they will have. And really, what can those so called vets do to pound on fresh mp5s that has actual consequence to those fresh ones? Combat losses are needed for balance, and tree rits easily prevent damage to your main army.
Having maxed creatures like angiens does help beat other players like MP5s who have maxed power creatures, so in that sense it does help. In addition the mp3/4s arn't all saying they are staying at lower levels in order to be capable of beating the MP5s. A number of them are saying they are staying there because there is just no point in going MP5 at all due to current MP5 attitudes and actions. These "illusions" you speak of are the voices of those that are supposedly trying to be aided. So listen and work with them. Even I think they are right, I've done testing on it and I have come to the conclusion that they are correct - but I'm not foolish enough to think that I really understand fully because no matter how much testing I do, I the player am a vet of the game and they are not.
Should I remind you about MP4s with 10k attack ? PPL this is for your own good, for MD's future.
Is it? I really don't think it is. In the alternative version of this thread that Kafuuka made here I explained how by reasoning the only viable end result of this idea here is an attempt at re-populating MP5, it won't actually do anything else it claims to attempt as far as I can tell.
I claim that nobody who has never had an mp5 account, supports this idea.
I'd agree, and I'd go further. Some people who have MP5 accounts also don't support it. Z
