The response to this really has been phenomenal. After today's rounds I am still left with 57 silver! Thank you to Kiley, Aelis, Peace, Neno Veliki, Miq, Zentao, Phantasm, Shantu, FireStarter, Manda, Chewett and Shadowseeker for today's alms! (sorry if I missed anyone) - The alms are being received with great thanks. Z I just remembered, I DID miss someone. Roland, very kindly, has donated a bunch of branches to be given out. I haven't given those out yet. - On this note, please be careful giving me resource type items due to how they clump together I will not be able to distribute. Branches I had none of so that was all cool in this case.

I don't like the idea of putting them in the shop just like that, nor the shop raffle thing....and as they can't be in the wp shop being coloured and all...then I suggest a deep wp that opens a shop level that has things like morphs in it. Z

Today a little gang of friendly faces ambushed me and covered Bob in Ribbons and stuck me in a santa suit with a bell to ring. So, despite my grumpyness, in this spirit I will do the following: I am opening the xmas alms for the poor collection. Over December, in return for my ringing my bell and being a goat in an itchy santa suit, you can donate silver to me and once a day I will disperse this to the poor of MD. I will give a silver to anyone and everyone I can, from the donations I receive, who I see has less than 5 MD silver in currency. If you want to donate, just pass me your silver. Once a day I will distribute it across the poor of MD. I will be at the Path of Lonliness with Bob most of the time as usual. I currently have 44 silver. One donation from Sagewoman, one from lashtal and 12 of my own silver is the starting pot. So my base is 30 silver that is mine, anything i have on top from now forth is donations to be dispersed (unless I sell something causing my base to rise - in which case i will update this thread) In the case that there is more silver donated than poor to give to, at the end of december I will donate whatever is left to where ever you all decide to put it via a poll. If anyone has comments suggestions or what-not then this is the place. Z

[i][u]The Golden Protector[/u][/i] For the player who is viewed as performing the best in the role of protector(MP6) during the past year. The player does not have to currently be a protector. The voter should take into account the actions of the other protectors in the realm, rather than automatically voting for their own. Best can mean how helpful the protector has been, to how effective they have been in recruiting worshippers, this is at the voters discretion. * * *[b]Amoran[/b] [i][u]Helper of the Year[/u][/i] For the player deemed to have been the most helpful. This is open to any player, and is not restricted to LHOs. The area of helpfulness the player focusses on can vary, but due to the original focus of the award being to LHOs, it would be implied that the award is based on peoples helpfulness towards newer players. Indeed they do, but for me it just seems pointless unless it actually conceals your identity - or at the very least conceals it a lot better than it currently does. Perhaps it is the name that is misleading. In real life an illusion comes in all sorts from weak to strong. This game feature is a bit like looking at a stick in a glass of water, where as a valuable feature I think i'd rather something a little more...effective. Same goes for the other effects - maybe if those were more interesting I wouldnt be concerned with the identity thing at all. Z

I am not impressed by the suggestion of a time delay on people receiving rewards, or banning the same people getting rewards. I used to race when I was a kid and a teacher once told me to run slower, so the other kids could win the races. I found it then, and now, ridiculous. As for nominations....how about we just do what pretty much every award ceremony in the world does and do it based on number of votes or ranking numbers (so if there are 5 people to vote for you give one person a 1, one a 2, one a 3 etc)? Maybe I'm missing something. Z

None the less isn't it kind of odd that in that case it just 'happens' to be after Pip does his bashing that something actually gets done? If the past and this incidence itself is anything to go by, public attention is often exactly what it takes, coupled with some other stuff. Z

I like the idea here, but it ignores the administrative nature of said spells...and the ‘spell’ bit. Unfortunately, some of the people with them are also ignoring that. In theory, those who earned those spells should have the same pickiness and responsibility in terms of distribution, just as it was hard for them themselves to have been taught the spell imo. Still, cant win either way, then people would complain too about 'vets hogging spells' or something. My suggestion for now based on this sort of thing- if someone who learned it from a memory stone tries to use a spell, then something about the person they are trying to use it on should be taken into account. Their ability to use the spell should be ‘weaker’ and so a yes or no from the person involved would make sense, but it would want to be a sub-conscious one, not a pop-up...or the pop-up only appearing if you are resistant enough. Something based on you. For example: the more permanent spells you have, the more resistant you might be to weak casters. Or like you say there Darigan, it could cost you something, like heat, to work against the spell in any way – just as it cost heat to cast it. Just because you temporarily learnt a spell, you are a master at it and everyone bows to your will? Doesn’t make sense to me....but then, I expect the system to evolve. Z

Whilst I agree this has gone a bit odd and it is a semantic issue - neither party is a native english speaker and the word donation is incorrectly used if the request is in fact being enforced as a fee, im not saying nobody does it. In terms of large corporations, if you use incorrect wording that makes people think one thing when it is in fact another then the consumer can haul you in front of the ombudsman and have you fined. In most of the larger corporations you get a fine just for it reaching the ombudsman in the first place and then fined again whatever they decide to fine you, and of course you are told to change the wording. Yes small companies can mess you around with tricksy wording, that doesnt make it right, and it doesn't mean they won't get a legal battle on thier hands at some point. Z

Not only that, but you caveat wanting discussions relating to this coming about to stay in their respective threads, thereby removing discussion of the issues here that caused you to create the poll in the first place.
