  1. Since some people asked:

You are allowed, and encouraged, to paint, spray, roll in dirt or otherwise alter the color of your object if you wish so :))

I don't want drawings because we have so many things that reward drawing-skills already, this is more of a sculpture quest if you wish to call it that. But of course you can color your object, still :)

Don't forget: Your object, the letters MD, and one of your hands, from 3 different angles.

  2. For Mur, and other lazy readers: :P

    Make a drachorn

    Take three pics of it

'MD' and your hand on all pics

Submit as PM to me until Oct 23rd

Rewards: Drach Charm, Mur sponsors 5 WP codes, a drach and a reindrach if there are more than 5 participants

No, not what you think :P

I think fall has officially started all around the northern hemisphere now, and fall is traditionally a time of harvest, and thanksgiving.

Most cultures make sacrifices to thank for the year during this season, and often do so in a very crafty manner. We do this here, too, and we're finally getting closer to the quest part of this now, so don't stop reading. ;)

There will be a drach charm awarded to whoever CRAFTS the best looking drachorn/dragon within a month from now. October 23rd, 23:59 server time will serve as deadline.

Any form of craft is allowed, except for drawing. You can make your dragon from things you find in your garden, like colorful leaves, or carve it out of wood, or do some origami, anything you can think of short of drawing it. Show your hand's skill :D

To compete, take three snapshots of your object from 3 different angles, and make sure to include the letters MD in all of them as well as one of your crafty hands :D

The rating will be done in two ways, there'll be a community voting by poll, as well as a rating from a group that won't be disclosed until they're done. To ensure the highest possible un-biasedness, send your snapshots to me via PM, and i will post them all for the public voting.

I'm aware that fall in northern hemisphere equals to spring in southern, so yeah, you guys don't have the traditional harvest time bonus, but in turn you have some flowers that should be in bloom, make something of that instead ;)

Remember: You're supposed to craft a drachorn/dragon, take 3 different photos of it, and send it to me. 'MD' and one of your hands has to appear in all of the snaps. Do it 'til October 23rd, that's one month from now.

    Good luck :D

  3. Can you / Chewie / Council provide a list of the stuff in the shop so we can see what goes how deep, too?

I mean... I would figure that there are a few people who did buy everything in all branches, but i doubt anybody kept record of how deep exactly stuff was, or where exactly the silver coins are stacked onto, etc. etc.

If not in a public post, for obvious reasons, maybe in a PM to the people who are interested in making up that paid vs. free list?

  4. We're talking about theories, not current state of things, and in the theory where you trade for an MD bucket, lands of east has the candy and tea tools to offer, because nobody but east people can pick them up. If the caretakers give out the products of east lands freely, it's something to be solved within the east land allies, not a global problem.

  5. And ... if I manage to get 1 water tool ... what would I really get ? currently Nadrolski and gang (hmmmchewmmtoo) have depleted all water in NML & LR & MDA. Can you consider any item trade with them ... fair ?

Please explain how this can work.

Simple, you don't trade with them. They need the east for candies and tea, and probably the autumn-project will create even more links between the lands. If they always harvest all the water themselves, they won't find anybody who's interested in trading their tools with them. Once they need another land's tools, they'll reduce their own harvesting until they find trade partners.

What if we get to sell our resources to the game? I mean someking of trade place where we get gold, silver, etc in exchange of the resources or certain items we possess. That involves a good balancing of items and a very well designed system. But i think it would give a major purpose to resources and will make people work harder to get them. Just an idea.

This sounds like a silver-generator which would greatly increase rate of inflation and lower the inventive for people to buy coins in the shop, which would cut the finances even more. It'd also make the resource game less cooperative. I don't think that's a good solution, really.

  6. I think all shared tools should work in the same way. Currently, buckets and saws need mb/lr loyalty to be grabbed and used, necro and gg tools need loyalty to be grabbed, but can be used by anybody, and herb baskets and tea sets can be grabbed and used by anybody.

I think it would promote tool trade and cooperation if all tools were set to be grabbed with a value of land loyalty, and used by anybody. On the other hand, if all tools are set to be used with their land's loyalty, it would promote the trade of resources. Both concepts have their pros and cons, i guess it's a matter of taste which one you like more.

I'm against the scattered system, though, where some lands have a monopoly for the use of some tools, and others not. I think that it'd be a sensible system to trade a bucket for a saw for a week, for example, and both parties can see how well they can use their time. Currently, the bucket guys are running around to get water week after week, and the saw guys run for wood week after week, and everybody gets bored on their routines.

  7. I have no idea what's going on here. I'm aware that there are words the code doesn't like, like "ini", "try" and many others. Because i hate avoiding all those random letter-combinations, i almost always write my texts in the content-bit and go with

    echo @content[x]

for the php-bit, to avoid issues.

But now i found something the code seems to hate even more, "terror".

When your text contains "terror" on the content-side and you let the php-side echo that specific content, it works, but shows the whole block of text as warning message before working.

Why is that, and are there other words that make the code choke? Because it took me ages to find what actually triggered it in that block of text i wanted echoed -.-

  8. As foreword, i'm not going to make a difference as to whether or not freebies were justified in my list, that's what you need to crack your head about. In fact, i think some of them were worked hard for and very justified, while i found others were unfair to the degree that made me want to punch you.

    Cryxus, flag/tag group.

MR's (mostly MRD), got an ally.

    Shadowseeker, got a flag/tag group.

Udgard and yrth, crafter abilities and ally.

    Shoeps... yeah.

Renavoid, almost as much as Shoeps.

Khalazdad, practically a whole land to himself.

Peace, countless things over many, many years, creatures, items, illusions and so on.

Cutler, Rendril and Chewett, freedom in coding stuff.

    dst, huge freedom.

Fenrir/Seigheart, allowed to avoid punishments repeatedly (e.g. Ann.1616 & 1674)  (Note, not saying that people don't deserve another chance)

    Liberty, alt abuse as role.

Alyon, flag group where ally already existed.

From the top of my head.

Again, i think some of these favors are very justified, and i think some of the ones where i don't think so might be because i don't have all the information, but i'm very sure that a good few of these are out of proportion to the work people invested.

  9. Rewards get scaled down, a lot, and the first 5 all get the same. 10 creds, 5k ve and vp, and the normal medal. Gold heads gets abolished, due to being meaningless anyway. There was a time when a heads medal was an accomplishment, but those days are long gone. Keeping the 'contest' alive just for the sake of slowly giving everybody the medal is stupid. Lately, there's 3 people playing and 80 annoyed by it, because they can't play it because they a) already have a medal and aren't allowed to do a thing or b) don't want to play when they are not safely first.

  10. If we only reward the player who comes in first then players will battle over first place and not fear coming in second. There is still the idea of "oh I'll just win next time" that needs to be solved but as versatile and intelligent as the MD community is I'm sure we can find a solution. It's not as broken as the TC was back in the day.

    ^Says it all.

When coming off second in the biggest combat competition MD has to offer on a regular basis is something you have to fear, the whole competition is meaningless and should be stopped, or reworked until number ten in the ranking can still be like "Yeah, i was in the top ten of HC recently, that's how you spell dedication."
