I could imagine that there's a little problem with adding the lost defence again still.
My guess is the following: While weaken applies, defence gets lowered as it should, when it says 'effect ended', it stops being lowered (is lowered by 0), and in the following round the full defence that was drained before gets rebuilt. That's all the stuff that's fine. Then in the next round, the defence that was drained gets restored AGAIN, turning the drain into an increase, and this continues every round until weaken gets applied again. I fear that us guinea pigs didn't provoke this effect because we always used all -.-
